Use rating for Content Area items.

Does anybody now if it is possible to rate
items loaded in a Portal Content Area.
So later on you can see how high visitors
rated the items you loaded.

You can always add an extra attribute to the item, but then the users need access to all the attributes of the item.

Automatic upload of content area items from the O/S

I wish to automate the upload of content area items into the portal. Can this be done via the PDK or otherwise?
I have a number of PDF and HTML reports that get generated and placed into a physical directory on the server. I want all these files from a specific directory to be uploaded as items into the portal automatically so that users can view the reports with appropriate security. The reports can be modified so that when run they insert a record into a custom table to store their path and file names. This can be used by a custom procedure to point to the files at the point of upload.
However, can this upload actually be done?
Any ideas on how to do this would be useful.

Physical path on the database server.
Using the api to upload is easy as long as you provide the content-area id, folder-id, display-name, item-type (PORTAL30.WWSBR_API.ITEM_TYPE_FILE), content-area type id (PORTAL30.WWSBR_API.SHARED_OBJECTS), folder-region-id (whatever it is for Regular Items, you'll find it in wwsbr_all_folder_regions) and the physical file-name.

Content area Item restriction programmatically.

Any one knows to restrict the items to be present in the content area?.
We can manually do it by going to the itms while creating the content area.
I want to do this programmatically while creating the content area( am creating the CA through the script).

There is a bug in using LOVs in content area where in the LOV's dont appear if the number of rows are huge.
Have you tried creating an LOV using scott.emp and using it .....
Pl. mention the exact steps where in you are facing this problem, havent come across this .

Modify a content area item so it is approved (via API?)

Hi,
Does anyone know of a way to programmatically modify an item that has been created with approval so that it is approved?
I am trying to integrate a workflow process to item addition in content areas so that the final step is to programmatically approve it(thus making it appear in the folder). The publicly available API procedures/functions to modify/create an item do not specify a way to approve as well.
Can this be done? Thanks in anticipation

Unable to create content area item for RDF-report

According to white paper "Security tips in Oracle Reports Services (release 6i with Portal 3.0)" I'm trying to integrate an Oracle Reports 6i RDF-module in my portal.
All goes well including running the report from de reports definition file.
However, when I want to create an item in the content area referencing the report, the report-application is not visible in the lov Application Components. The only aplication component I'm offered is "PEOPLE_APP: People".
Perhaps the following problems are related to this problem:
1) When looking for applications in the Portal Navigator, the report-application is missing in the applications list. However, after using the Find...-option the application is shown. Should report-definitions been shown ?
2) After installing rwwwvins.sql the package body WWV_RW_SB is invalid with errormessage "PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to SET_SSO_SESSION".
Can anybody help ?

One problem solved...
It appears that I should have stated the application as "Expose as Provider". After doing that the report appeared in the lov.
Unfortunately one problem still remains. The package WWV_RW_SB has errors causing the parameterform to fail. I've rerun the rwwwvins-script but the package body stays invalid.

Search Service for Content Server Items

Does Plumtree EDK provide any API to develop search service to search into specific Content Server items as it provides to search within a specific folder of Knowldege Directory

What are you trying to do?
Are you using an unstructured UI template on your other pages, with release 3.0.8?
If you are, you could put your presentation code in a stored procedure, and call the procedure within ORACLE tags from the template. For the CA page, call the procedure from a Dynamic Page, and display the Dynamic Page as a portlet on the CA page.
In a future release we'll be combining portal and CA pages into a single entity, so we won't have these inconsistencies.

if VBKD-BSTKD_E = 3011192 is like 4 records in excel means for these 4 should be one SO
if it is changed to 3011193 then only different SO.
PLs If any one knows solution pls write some sample code for me.

If u want to add Items data, u have to handle the Table control by writing the complete code.
U have to write code for 2 items, when u press enter u will get new row to enter new record one by one.

Content area items not visible

I had a content area that had items. Somehow, the items are now invisible. If I add new items to the content area, they are invisible too!!
What could be the problem?

Have you recently upgraded to Portal 3.0.9? Check the content area properties to see if your categories are hidden. The 3.0.9 upgrade script has a bug that hides existing categories.

XML/XSL Content Area Items

Is it possible to have an item in a content area that is an XML document transformed by an XSL stylesheet?
This would be a handy way to publish news and memos in a standard format, and make changes to that format in one location.

Using BLOB for storing OLE Item and Concadinating

Hi,
We are using BLOB data type to store Word document using OLE
interface in forms 6i. It is working fine.
Now we want to merge two or more BLOB items to one item to make
the document as a single document. We tried to use
DBMS_LOB.APPEND package to do the same but we could see only the
first document that is appended and the remaining documents are
not visible. When we analyzed the size of the BLOB item, it is
getting increased whenever we append another document.
Looking for the solution urgently. It would be better to have
the code that is used for doing this.

What you say seems quite normal.
You should not use dbms_lob.append, but rather call Word and
copy the text & other objects from one of the LOBs to the end of
the other one.
I wish I could tell you more about how to do that, but I don't
know. I'm still looking for more doco on the methods &
properties for Word & XL to be invoked when using OLE2.

How to get SAP to use SSL for Content repository?

I have defined a content repository in OAC0. I would like SAP and the end user to use SSL when talking to the repository. I have obtained a certificate for the repository, so that I can manually trference the repository via https... but in OAC0 when I press the Test Connection button I get "Connection Error:No SSLsupport available". Do I have to import the content repository certificate into STRUST or something?

I HAVE PASSED THIS USING READ_TEXT BUT THE SAME CODE IS THE OUTPUT,I MEAN ITS NOT EXECUTING AND THE OUTPUT IS CODE ITSELF.

In the previous version of Portal when you created a content area item of type text. there were four display options
1) Item Displayed Directly In Folder Area
2) Link That Displays Item In Folder Area (i.e on a page for a folder)
3) Link That Displays Item In Full Browser Window
4) Link That Displays Item In New Browser Window.
In release2 of protal the option number 2) is removed.
We were using option 2 as we added different portlets and style sheets on content area page because of which we were able to get the desired page.
Now in the new release this option is not there.
Any pointers to the issue.
or Is there a default style and page design which is used while opening the details of the text and whether that default can be modified or not?
