Use stack mode in awesome-git
Hi,
I currently try the awesome3 wm and i wondered how to het stack mode in titlebar and keybind.
and I don't find any interesting and complete documentation about wicked to see all option(still probably on development?)
PS: now i use something like the woldori.config, here a screen

You're welcome. If you choose to get CS6 you won't need to buy Lr again. If you do get Ps CC you will get Lr for free and free upgrades (Lr 5.7 and Ps CC 2014 15.0 currently).

I am running aperture 2.1.2 on the MBP below. When I use stack mode, things will work fine for awhile, images will advance to stack pick, etc. After varying amounts of time, when I advance to the next stack it will refuse to do so. The images stay frozen on the comparison panel, the advance arrows do nothing to change that. The arrows will sometimes advance across the filmstrip at the botton, but the viewed images refuse to change. I have tried clicking everything, escaping, round trip to the browser, and the only thing that seems to happen is that I can go to full-screen with the same images and then back by double clicking them.
The only thing that gets out of this is to restart the program.
Any ideas? BillAnybody seen this?

When I try to use 'Stacked Column Bar'. with data assigned in the graphs, and want to see it in the 'Preview' mode in Xeclsius, I unable to see the graphs apart from the Axes ans Series Value, the graphs becomes totally invisible why So ?

For basic understanding of Dashboards and Models you can use standard Templates or samples which ll come along with dashboard designer(Formly Xcelsius) installation.
For path File-->Templates(or Samples).
Under Templates you ll have different categories and for each you ll find the dashboard Templates.

JVM crash when using debug mode in eclipse
Hi,
I get a SIGSEGV every time I use debug mode in Eclipse. Sometimes after a few breakpoints, sometimes when I start the debug view.
Have Eclipse helios and JRE 6.0_21-b06 but have also tried 1.6.0_03-b05 with same result.

Any clues anyone?get a SIGSEGV every time I use debug mode in EclipseSo if you create a hello world program and then debug it, it crashes?
If yes then the causes would be
1. The VM(s) binaries are corrupted. Plural as it depends on how you run Eclipse.
2. Something else installed on your system at the OS level (or at least always running) is corrupt or is corrupting the OS.
3. A hardware failure. -
I bring 2 images and stack them as layers. Then I use blending modes (lighten, screen, overlay, etc..) to make one image. If I want to paint back part of the image I lost during blending via mask, normal brush does not work anymore. I even tried to change normanl brush into whatever blend I was using at the time with no joy. Help
If you want to reveal part of the underlying layer, add a layer mask to the top layer, paint with Black into the mask in those areas your want to reveal the lower layer.
You can add a layer mask from the bottom of the Layers panel (third from left fifth from right on my copy of CC) -

I'm trying to use the options 'layers - smart objects - stack mode'. However 'stack mode' is greyed out. I've read on a few forum posts that this functionality is only available with CS4 extended.
Can anyone tell me if that's correct. And if so is there an upgrade route to allow me to get the extended version?

So I want to try to edit in stacks but cant seem to get it to work. my understanding is the the usual command is file, scripts, load into stack and then once your files load you go file, scripts, statistics, my problem is that there is not file, scripts, statistics for me. I'm using CS4 extended so I should have it. My layer, smart objects, stack mode is always grayed out too. (weather I convert the top file to a smart object, or all the files or select all and then convert to smart object, which flattens the layers). So Im wondering if there is some setting I have changed that would prevent me form using stacks? or if im just missing something, thanks Im using windows 7, PS CS4 version 11.0.2

Show movement in area from 30m video, smart objects - stack mode - range - 90k frames

So I have a real challenge and need help figuring out the logistics of how to get it to work sensibly.
I'm trying to visually show the movement through a space (which will later be generated into a 3d form etc..)
To do this I think the best way would be to use photoshops smart objects - Stack modes - "Range"
A final image to show movement through the area.
Lighter where people walk more often and darker where people walk less often

Range basically shows everything that has moved between the layers.
If you import a video frames into layers in photoshop, make them a smart object and apply the range stack mode it shows peoples movement and where they walk.
So thats what I'm going to do unless there is a better way to do this in something like after effects or premiere pro that I don't know about?
- I've done the photoshop way before and it worked very well - but on a very small scale.
I have a 30 minute video recording (considering longer but not sure if its viable), it was shot on a tripod and seems ok but can always do it again differently if needed!
The video was shot at 1920 x 1080 50fps which with 30 minutes (1800 seconds) makes 90,000 frames total for the video.
The problem
I need the info from ALL the frames - any less and the movement is too 'choppy' and isn't very useful.
So how can I make use of 90,000 frames/layers in a smart object for the range stack mode?!
I heard photoshop has a layer limit of 8k.
I have access to 6 high spec brand new mac pros (not 100% sure of the spec).
I'm thinking the solution would be use scripts and break it down into manageable chunks then flatten then merge them together.
Possible Solutions
1. Merging frames from each second or few seconds and then blending - not sure what blend mode I would use and also not sure if it would affect results
2. chop the image down into sections, process each section, flatten and merge together. for example split it into 4 quarters. - Don't think this will help, its more the limits in layers than anything else
3. Find an alternative method to deliver the image such as after effects.
on a side note I know I could have done a long exposure, done many before, but they don't really show movement, they simply blend the frames. The downside of long exposures for this exercise is that things could cancel each other out, for example; a man with a white top on walks past then a man with a black top walks past, these would cancel each other out to some degree.
The Range smart stack mode is brilliant because it directly shows movement and people don't cancel others out.

Context
For context the final thing has to be something that doesn't change in time, i.e. not a video but an image or model. This image will then be skewed a bit so its a plan view. It will then be used for another script in a 3d package like rhino which will create a number of points in space, the x and y axis being the location in plan view and the Z axis being the value of the pixel. I will then generate a solid form from the points and then smooth it out a lot so I should end up with a 3d wave model directly generated from the movement of people through the site. I will then architecturally design the form into spaces etc... This will form the surface of my final project
Heres an example of the first 500 frames (500 frames limit on video frames to layers import)
The footage isnt the best as I moved the camera slightly and the angle isnt amazing - ideally I want a plan view but will skew the final image to do this.But I have a concern that if I break it down to 300 images (6 seconds of footage) then stack then flatten the stack until its dont the whole 30 mins then use these flattened ones to create a new stack it would affect results as it will then be working with images like the above.
That should be easy enough to test (if maybe not exactly proof) – for Range it seems to make no difference, for Variance it seems to do.
Also why use 16 bit image mode?
To reduce the accumulated effect of the necessary rounding of pixel values. -

I left a comment on the AUR page for awesome-git saying that recently (past few days), I've had to install newer versions of a bunch of packages (newer than are on the Arch repos, I had to build them myself...but using the official PKGBUILDs and upping the versions tended to suffice). But the build errors I was getting are different than yours. Mine was about a variable LIBXCB_something_or_other_EVENT_something that seemed not to be in the library versions I was linking against. -

Stack mode and rating images-WORKFLOW SUGGESTIONS PLEASE
I have a couple of issues when working in stack mode.
The first is that although I can rate the image that is bordered in white I don't see an easy way to rate the image with the yellow border?
The second thing that gives me fits is how when I am in stack mode the up and down arrow keys skip over unstacked images while editing.
My workflow now is to take two passes through a set of images. The first in stack mode to get the stack picks and alternates set. The second pass which I do in Primary mode is to rate the images. This has the disadvantage of not rating the stacked images which are not the 'pick'.
Anyone got some suggestions from their own workflows?Sailor,
The problem with the opt + return item is that it kicks you out of 'Stack view' into 'Primary' and if you want to return to 'Stack view' then you have to do 'opt + t' and you have lost your place in the stack. (i.e. in a stack of 7 if you were looking at items 1 and 4 when you return to 'Stack view' you are back to looking at 1 and 2 again)
CONFUSION POINTS: I was using the keyboard shorcut card that came in my v1.0 Aperture box, some of those shortcuts are no longer correct. I have also found that not all of the shortcuts on the current PDF Quick Reference are working as expected.
I recalled that you can use 'opt =' or 'opt -" to increse the rating on the yellow bordered item. This might lead you to expect that opt 1-5 would assign ratings to the yellow border image but those shortcuts assign metadata.
I think a part of my problem is that I have been working with much too large stacks. Stacks work better for me if they are smaller and contain images that are visually equivalent but differ in minor details that need magnification to resolve. I'am getting an "Enable to run report - Report as crashde" issue only when I'am running reports using the mode character. The same report with desformat pdf never has any problems. I have changed the englife (set to one) increase the cachesize but I still have the same issue.
I'm using report 6i and Oracle 8i.

In fact the report in character mode is working fine in my environnement but is not working on my customer environnement (which is supposed to be the same as mine). I was thinking of cache size issue or something like this ?

IS THE SITUATION HOPELESS
I used Target mode to transfer files to a new i7 iMac running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 from an older Dual core Intel machine (EMC 2105) also on 10.6.8. but originally Tiger 10.4. The operation was successful and I ejected the disk icon from the new machine and powered down the old machine. When this was restarted the next day there was a grey screen with flashing Mac symbol alternating with a 'no entry' sign and occasionally a question mark.Keyboard and mouse were unusable so k inserted the original instal disc (No.1 for 10.4. with installer 1.0.4) which came with the machine in 2006 in an attempt to boot from this. The ensuing window said this was not possible and now it cannot be ejected.I have tried everything ! It offers Disk Utility and other options like Terminal but that doesn't work either.I 'repaired disk' and that was pronounced o.k. None of the various keystrokes at start up will work, and the computer will only offer the installer disc continually.The only option would seem to be is to erase the hard drive completely from the disc in the machine.I don't want to do this as there is still material which I need to recover. I think the drive has in some way been corrupted by using it in target mode, and I don't know if there are any other options to try.

No; but then, I've not had occasion to use TDM. I've been using firerwire drives for over 10 years, both FW400 and FW800, with no issues except a bit of instability using a B&W G3 machine.
TDM should be safe. Using cautious, manual copying of files from the Target machine to the Host machine should not result in unexpected loss of files or damage to the Target drive's directories. It should behave exactly the same as if it were an external (to the Host) firewire drive.
• I don't suppose there is anything I can do to 'put back' lost items from a separate Time Machine drive which has an up to date backup on it.
There is probably a way to do that - seems to me that's one of the reasons for a Time Machine volume.
On the other hand, if the Time Machine volume is rigidly linked to the now-absent OS on the original drive, there may be no way to effectively access the files in the TM archive.
I know that using a cloned drive would work well in this instance.
I have no experience with Time Machine, so perhaps someone who has will chime in with suggestions.
With the machine in TDM with the other machine, have you tried running Disk Utility to see if you can effect repairs to the drive?
