Use webservice models from another DC

Hi Experts,
I am trying to develope a Web Dynpro Java application according to the best practice tutorials from sdn.
So firstly I created a DC (model DC) in which I created the required models (adaptive rfc and webservice). Then I added these models to the public part of the DC.
In the next step I created another DC, the "model component DC", and added the models from the public parts of the "model DC" to the Dependencies of this DC. After this I added the models to the "Used Models" folder of the "model component DC". Till this point everything seems to work - every model (rfc and webservice) appears under "Used Models". But when I try to create a service controller for the models I only can choose between the rfc models - the webservice models are not available. Even trying to code a service controller on my own leads to syntax errors.
When I add the web service models under the "Models" folder I can select the models for a service controller without problems. But as this project is for my thesis I want to create this application according to the best practices.
Hope anybody can help me with this.
Thanks and regards,
Michael

Personally, i would
create a seperate DCs for all the webservices,
create some plain java EJBs in src folder,
write certain methods to consume these webservices
and then create public parts of those EJBs.
consume the public parts.
It becomes easier to maintain and since one w/s may be consumed in multiple DCs, it saves me time to import reimport the model in all Dcs and make changes in only one EJB instead of all places where i consume it.
I am using this approach.
Regards,
Nitin

    You can (using database links), but this will generally result in even poorer performance (unless by "another Oracle database" you mean using RAC?)
    It sounds more like you either need to upgrade your systems, or refactor your applications to have a smaller performance footprint.

    How can I use a method from another class in another package?

    What do you mean by "new keyword?" You posted this previously:
    I tried that, it seems to not be working. I want to use the constructor from the other class. I imported it, using this piece of code:
    import components.FileChooser;
    components.FileChoser();
    Typically if I am going to call a constructor on a class called Fubar, I'd use new to create a new object:
    Fubar myFubar = new Fubar();Incidently, is it a simple typo in your post or are you trying to use a FileChoser object when it should be FileChooser?

    Hello,
    I have now noticed that the cmd+shift+g method works OK if you are doing a standard restore from the TM on the current system, but does not work when using a TM from another machine. I do not know enough about Unix file structures to specify the correct file under these circumstances, any help woudl be grateful

  • Accessign webservice result from another mxml file

    HI,
    I have an mxml application that uses the <mx:webservice
    function to load a wsdl and get some values. I have tested the code
    and it works fine and i can get the result and fault methods
    correctly.
    I would now like to call this service from another mxml file
    and use access the result or fault string accordingly.
    example scenario would be that when i load my main page, i
    would like the lookup values obtained from using the webservice to
    be available.
    i tried the following but didnt get any luck. Here lookup is
    the mxml file which contains the webservice, which i am importing
    in this file. GetLookValuesWithAuth is the operation name.
    var l:lookup=new lookup;
    var s:AsyncToken=l.es.GetLookupValuesWithAuth.send();
    s.addResponder(new mx.rpc.Responder(onSResult,onSFault));
    public function onSResult(e:ResultEvent):void{
    Alert.show("value is");
    var xy:XMLList=XMLList(e.result);
    lplist=xy.descendants("LOOKUPVALUES");
    Alert.show("lookup is
    "+lplist.toXMLString()+xy.toXMLString());
    public function onSFault(e:FaultEvent):void
    Alert.show("Fault is "+e.toString());
    An example of the webservice call in lookup.mxml is shown
    below
    <mx:WebService id="e1" wsdl="{wsdl "
    result="resultHandler(event)"
    fault="mx.controls.Alert.show(event.fault.faultString.toString())>
    <mx:operation name="GetLookupValuesWithAuth"
    resultFormat="e4x">
    <mx:request>
    <databaseName>{database name}</databaseName>
    <userName>{username}</userName>
    <password>{password}</password>
    <lookupID>05855b98-75c7-4117-a91c-db59e9ea0204</lookupID>
    </mx:request>
    </mx:operation>
    Any suggestions?

    I have no idea about web services, but it seems to me you
    should have a
    closing curly bracket in the wdsl property.

    There are several ways to start VI 2.
    - use a invoke node of VI 2 which says : "run when opened"
    - edit the VI properties of VI2 en set "run when opened" to TRUE
    See attachment

  • Using a variable from another method within another method

    I have a couple methods. In the beginning of the class I declared the double variables. Then I have a method1 that in that class that changes those double variables. Then the last method2 runs, and is suppose to print information to the screen with the changed variable information all being called from another class. How do I get those changed double variables to be read in method2?

    Sorry about all that, when I paste it in from the compiler it's skews it some, but hopefully this should be more readable

  • Consuming a webservice using Webservice model in Webdynpro

    Hi all,
    I am working on a scenario where in XI is used for calling Remote Function Module of R3 system using SOAP
    My XI Consultant has implemented SOAP to RFC scenario in XI succesfully and generated the WSDL file in XI.
    I got that WSDL file and saved locally on my desktop.
    I created a Webservice model based on the local WSDL file and then gave necessary inputs and also included the following code for the SOAP call to happen
    wdContext.currentRequest_Soap2Rfc_Ob_MiElement().modelObject().execute();
      wdContext.nodeResponse().invalidate();
      wdContext.nodeRes_Mt().invalidate();
    When I tried to give input data and click on submit it is calling the model object execute method and is throwing the following exception
    Exception on execution of web service with WSDL URL 'C:\Documents and Settings\aljsed01\Desktop\soap2rfc_ob_mi.wsdl' with operation 'soap2rfc_ob_mi' in interface 'soap2rfc_ob_mi'
    Does any have any idea about this?
    Should I require some more steps to do?
    Anyhelp in this regard is highly appreciated
    Regards,
    Santhosh

    Hi Anil and Rahul,
    Thanks a lot for your help and time.
    I have created destinations one for metadata and the other for Execution.
    But I am not sure of what URL to be given
    I have my WSDL file locally on the system.If I give that path,it says wrong protocol.
    And if I give XI URL,it does not pick up metada shows some other error.
    What URL should I need to give for locally saved WSDL??Please suggest
    And Rahul,here is the WSDL file which my XI consultant gave
    Let me know if it is ok.

    Hi,
    Check out this example . It is for TP4, but it should be the same on WLS.

  • Possible to use ZFS export from another server to boot/load LDOM?

    Have a T1000 with 2 72GB disks, configured as a RAID mirror in firmware, so there's not a lot of available local disk space.
    Would like to know if it's possible to use a ZFS volume exported to the base system, to build an LDOM?
    Assumes that we upgrade the T1000 to the 10/08 release that supports ZFS for boot devices.
    If it's not likely to succeed using exported ZFS volumes, will it work for an exported disk or slice?
    Want to use sorage available from an X4500 to ensure ldoms have enough space to live happily in.

    Yes, you can use a ZFS volume as a backend for an LDom.
    Chapter 5 of the LDoms Admin Guide has some good detail.
    http://docs.sun.com/source/820-4894-10/chapter5.html
    "The virtual disk backend can be a physical disk, a physical disk slice, a file, a volume from a volume management framework,
    such as the Zettabyte File System (ZFS), Solaris Volume Manager (SVM), Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM), or any disk pseudo
    device accessible from the service domain."
    You don't explicitly need the ZFS boot support in Solaris 10 10/08 (S10U6) as the LDoms support is independent of that - support
    for LDoms devices booting off a ZFS volume was added to the LDoms drivers in Solaris 10 5/08 (S10U5).
    So you could do the following.
    zfs create -V 10G ldoms/domain/test/zdisk0
    ldm add-vdsdev /dev/zvol/dsk/ldoms/domain/test/zdisk0 zdisk0@primary-vds0
    ldm add-vdisk zdisk0 zdisk0@primary-vds0 ldg1
    An then install Solaris on the guest domain using UFS as the root filesystem
    [or ZFS if you install Solaris 10 10/08 (S10U6)]
