User-attribute support in Sun Portal

How does Sun One Portal Server work with user attributes..
i.e
<portlet-app version="1.0" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/portlet/portlet-app_1_0.xsd">
<user-attribute>

User Given Name

</user-attribute>
<user-attribute>

User Last Name

</user-attribute>
<user-attribute>

User eMail

</user-attribute>
</portlet-app>
How can I make a users attributes be exported to portlet in this way?

I have nothing in the deployment descriptor regarding the user attributes.
Instead, I have a Mappingfile called "UserInfoMaps" with this contens:
sn=surname
On the left side is the attribute from directory server, on the right
side the symbolic name which is used in the portlet.
The value is read by the portlet like that:
Map ui = (Map)request.getAttribute("javax.portlet.userinfo");
m_strSurname = (String)ui.get("surname");
When deploying using "pdeploy", there is an additional switch for
the Mapping-File:
pdeploy deploy -u "uid=amadmin,ou=People,dc=myorg,dc=com" -w <secret> -p <secret> -f UserInfoMaps -g MyPortlet.war

• Custom user attribute from ABAP to Portal UME

Hi All,
We have choose the ABAP as the data source for portal UME. We have a custom user attribute in the abap. Now i want to bring that custom user attribute from abap to custom user attribute in the UME.
Any help will be rewarded.
Thanks
Sarang.

Any resolution to this issue?

• All the steps involved in creating user attributes

where is it documented on how to create user attributes that are stored in the ldap?
I created a jspprovider channel, and I can get data out of the user attributes in the samplecontent.jsp by:
JSPProvider p = (JSPProvider)pageContext.getAttribute("JSPProvider");
SSOTokenManager mgr = SSOTokenManager.getInstance();
SSOToken token = mgr.createSSOToken(request);
AMStoreConnection dpc = new AMStoreConnection(token);
String name = token.getPrincipal().getName();
AMUser user = dpc.getUser(name);
Map attMap = user.getAttributes();
Collection valueCollection = attMap.values();
Iterator valueIterator = valueCollection.iterator();
int iSize = attMap.size();
Set attKeySet = attMap.keySet();
Iterator keyIterator = attKeySet.iterator();
and then iterate through to display them all.
I then tried to store a value using the sampledoedit.jsp file:
JSPProvider p = (JSPProvider)pageContext.getAttribute("JSPProvider");
SSOTokenManager mgr = SSOTokenManager.getInstance();
SSOToken token = mgr.createSSOToken(request);
AMStoreConnection dpc = new AMStoreConnection(token);
String name = token.getPrincipal().getName();
AMUser user = dpc.getUser(name);
String aname = request.getParameter("attributeName");
Object aval = request.getParameter("attributeValue");
HashMap attMap = new HashMap();
attMap.put(aname,aval);
user.setAttributes(attMap);
user.store(true);
response.sendRedirect((String)pageContext.getAttribute("url"));
For whatever reason, I get an error, and in the debug I just get couldn't set attributes.
Then, when I try to retreive the list of attributes, the new name/value pair is created, but the value is blank.....
Any ideas? Or a link on a step by step process on how to create user attributes?

BTW, here is the error I get in the debug log:

• Broken OIM installation after creating user attribute

Hi All,
I tried to create a new user attribute with a list of values. I assume that I specified some of the required values incorrectly as I obtained an error message from the OIM application. Now however, I am not able to login into the OIM application even after restarting OIM. The error that I am getting in the console is as follows:
<Jan 12, 2012 1:06:21 PM SAST> <Error> <oracle.iam.identity.usermgmt.impl> <IAM-3051235> <An error occurred while searching for the user attributes.

• JSF Portlet - custom persisted user attributes

I will be developing a JSF Portlet (JSR 168) for Sun Portal Server 7.0, is there any way to persist a custom attribute value in the portal? The user can set up some values on the EDIT page and I'd like to persist them without using a database. Is it possible?

Looks like I can use customizationId. The documentation states "This attribute is deprecated. The 'id' attribute should be used when applying persistent customizations. This attribute will be removed in the next release." I'm gonna call their bluff. But I'd still be up for an alternative if anyone's got one.

• UME User Attribute

Hi All,
I want to use a standard UME user attribute which should allows multiple values. Is there any standard UME attribute allows multiple values.
I need this functionality to create a Virtual Group. I have followed the [Help Link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/43/fcfa2942ed7067e10000000a1553f6/content.htm]. to create Virtual Group based on UME department attribute. Department attribute is not supporting multiple values.
I want to achieve this is in Standard Configuration of Portal.
Can anyone help me or list me the Standard UME attribute which supports multiple values.
Thanks in Advance.
Regards
Venkatesh. K

Hi Venkatesh,
I did a quick search of the online help and found this...
The user attributes do not support multiple values by default, but if you mapped an attribute to an LDAP attribute with multiple values, you could read for a user the attribute department, which has the values Marketing and Distribution. This user would then belong to both virtual groups Marketing and Distribution.
It is in the documentation for [configuring virtual groups|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/Helpdata/EN/43/fcfa2942ed7067e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm].
So it all depends on your data source.

• Personalizing SUN Portal 6.2

I am having limited sucess personalizing Sun Portal Server. I haven't seen a really good step by step guide on how to accomplish the following task.
I have multiple roles configured in the console. When a person logs on with one role I want them to be able to see application providers that are different from another person in a different role.
Here is what I have done:
0.5 Starting from the top level Display Profile...
1.. I created a overall CSTMJSPTabContainer.
2. I created another AppTabContainer that is nested inside CSTMJSPTabContainer.
3. I created two TableContainers called Role1FormAppTableContainer and Role2FormAppTableContainer and assigned them to the AppTabContainer as available and visible.
4. I used the instructions that I have seen in the knowledgebase on how to create nested containers to do the collection entries.
5. I created two BookmarkProvider applications with two different names that had default links that are Role Specific called Role1BookmarkContainer and Role2BookmarkContainer.
6. I assigned them to the corresponding table containers as available and visible
When I test the changes, I now get a portal view that shows a two tabbed window with the appropriate content. Selecting each tab gives me the BookmarkApplication for the role name that the tab signifies.
What I want to do is implement the proper way to change this to show only a single tab with the information for Role1 when logged in as Role1 and the same for Role2.
Can someone give me a step by step approach to doing this that will allow me to use that procedure throughout my portal installation? I have a large number of pages and application views I must implement.

I may have figured out what my issues were.
For any other readers interested in this: When I created the suborganization that defines this portal, it created the DisplayProfile as having a priority of "user". My Roles had priority of 2 or 3 as the case may be, but the Global Display Profile had the higher priority of "user" so my efforts at doing personalization were generating very dubious results. When I changed the DisplayProfile priority to "0" things started working as I thought they were supposed to. So my lesson learned is that the portal defaults all new DisplayProfiles generated to "user" and you have to manually change them to the proper priority yourself! Or at least this is what is occurring in my installation.

• How to Sync User attributes between local forests?

Hi
We are currently migrating three AD domains to one.
We are migrating users and distrubution groups with ADMT to the new domain, and stating to move services to the new domain. starting with sharepoint.
But for some time, some services will remain in the three old domains. To avoid maintaining user attributes like phonenumber, address etc multiple places, I would like to schedule a sync of some user attributes from the old domains to the
new.
Just like DirSync between a local directory to office 365 - but how is it done with local domains and not with office365?
So if a helpdesk user is updating a users phonenumber i one of the three old AD, it should be synced to the new domain after. I would like to run this as a schedule task every 15 minute or so.
ADMT is like a one time migrating tool to create the users in the new domain, but I can't see that it will support user attribute
synchronisation.
Do you have any suggention on how I can solve this task?
Best Regards, Steffen.

ADMT is like a one time migrating tool to create the users in the new domain, but I can't see that it will support user attribute
synchronisation.
I am not sure about the schedule task and if it is available to use in this scenario or not. You have two different security boundaries, so it is not easy as setting up a scheduled task to sync data. Even if it is possible, it would be very hard to established.
For selected users you have to define what to sync and what not to sync and etc.
I believe on of the things you can do is to use FIM 2010 in order to have a synchronized directory. That is the best thing you can do AFAIK.

• Report on Active Directory User Attributes in SCCM 2012

I need to output a list of all users in a collection, along with certain user attributes from Active Directory. I can get part of what I need with the following query:
SELECT v_FullCollectionMembership.ResourceID,
v_R_User.Windows_NT_Domain0,
v_R_User.Distinguished_Name0,
v_R_User.Full_User_Name0,
v_R_User.Mail0,
v_R_User.User_Name0
FROM v_FullCollectionMembership, v_R_User
WHERE v_FullCollectionMembership.ResourceID = v_R_User.ResourceID
AND v_FullCollectionMembership.CollectionID = 'SMS00002'
If possible I need to add:
Last logon timestamp
User account status (enabled or disabled)
I have added "lastLogon" and "lastLogonTimestamp" as additional attributesunder Active Directory User Discovery. This discovery method is enabled and I have run a full discovery about a month ago, and again today. I read in
another thread that these attributes should appear in the table v_R_User, however they have not. Is v_R_User the right place to look for this or is there another view or table I can query?
Once I have the above sorted out, how can I find the user account status in SCCM? I have done reports in the past directly from AD and used the 'useraccountcontrol' attribute and I noticed there is a column named 'User_Account_Control0' in v_R_User, however
the values do not match those found in Active Directory.
Thanks.

Have you checked the attribute from the Active Directory in decimal format? Check that and compare it to the value ConfigMgr has stored in its 'User_Account_Control0'...
User Account Control tells you multiple things of the account, for example does the account have "Smart card login required" -option checked from the account properties.
The tricky part here is to actually get the report show you what you really want, because "useraccountcontrol" -attribute is a numeric value, you have to calculate what decimal combination means what in readable text.
More info on the attribute can be found from here
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305144 and from there you can also find the values for different settings. For example:
account is enabled = 512
account is disabled = 514
account is enabled with smart card = 262656

• Accessing user attributes from a pipeline component

Hello,
I'm using WLCS & WLPS 3.1. I use webflow and I have implemented the page
transition myself to work with the portal. Everything is working fine.
I'm planning to implement a complex step of a business process as a pipeline
component. For various reasons, this PC will be implemented as an EJB. To
perform its job, this PC needs to get information about the user that is
currently logged in. More specifically, it needs to lookup custom attributes
from the user profile (i.e. user property set).
So my question is : is this possible directly from the PC, or do I have to
populate the pipeline session with required information in the input
processor?
Thank you for your advice

I have not tried this myself. I think that the disconnect between the
pipeline session and the portal session is probably the fact that theattributes
in the portal session have their keys "fixed up" by prepending the portal
request URI. This is made possible by the
com.beasys.commerce.foundation.flow.jsp.DefaultDestinationDeterminer,which the
PortalDestinationDeterminer extends. It puts a "TRAFFIC.URI" attributeinto the
each request that goes through the FlowManagerServlet for the portal. Inthe
Acme exampleportal, the "SERVICEMANAGER.USER" attribute is put into theportal
HttpSession as "exampleportal.SERVICEMANAGER.USER".
If you want to get to the cached profile from your portal from yourpipeline
component (PC) then you would have to know that the name is "fixed up" tobe
"exampleportal.CACHED_PROFILE". There are probably several different waysyou
could get the "TRAFFIC.URI" information to your PC.

• How to access custom ume user attributes via VC?

Hi guys,
I configured a custom user attribute within the ume configuration:
Adding Custom Attributes to the User Profile
Now, how can I access this attribute within my VC model (user data)?
Thanks for your ideas
Benny

Hi,
Regarding adding properties to user data control, i have the following information. But i am not sure, whether it will be helpful to you.
You can add a personalise property/User mapping property into a user data control.
Drag a User data component, go to configure and click the + sign at the bottom of User parameters.
You can add any personalised properties to the user data (with valid data types and allowed values). Then can use the property in any formula.
When iView is opened in portal, the personalise property of that particular iView is used to change the property value
Hope it helps.

The actual DS is using Schema 1. If you are not using Schema 2 then that means you cannot be using Delegated Administrator to provision accounts. I assume then you are manually provisioning accounts/groups/resources/domains using some other mechanism?

To enable sso b/w sap ume and abap based system, users should ideally have same user id's in both the systems. Replicating usre accnts to relevant sap systems is one meathod to ensure the same user ids.
The data is replicated only from ume to sap system and nt vice versa.
UME accmplishes replication by transmit of XML documents.'
Prerequisites:
Ume supports replication of user data to abap sys with release 4.6D or higher. you can replicate to a maz of 3 systems.
users are created with a de-activated pwd in backend so they shud always logon thru ume in portal and access backend by sso logon tickets.
Procedure:
start config tool
2. choose swich to config editor mode
3. navigate to cluster_data_server_cfg_services
4.switch to edit mode
5.double click on com.sap.security.core.ume.services property sheet

7 save property sheet
8 restart cluster for changes
9. add the sending sys. to sap sys acl list. this is done in sap sys via a data browser against the table smum_acl

• JSR168 User Attributes -- testing under JSC

I'm writing a JSR-168 portlet that will receive a user attribute from the portal container that it's running under.
So far, thought, I'm not having any luck finding a place I can configure dummy user attributes into JSC for testing. Should they fit in somehow in one of the tabs in the Deployment Descriptor editor?

Yes, I've been over that document several times -- it's printed out and lying on the desk next to me, in fact.
However...I'm still a little fuzzy on two particular points that I don't think are directly covered:
(1) Accessing the USER_INFO map provided by my portal container (section PLT.17 of the JSR 168 specification). I understand this to be completely distinct from portlet preferences, unless JSC2 is doing something behind the scenes to merge the two. Since the USER_INFO map is a component of the PortletRequest, I think the code in Mr. Botterill's document gets me close enough to work things out there. However...
(2) Assuming that I've got the USER_INFO code figured out in my portlet, how do I configure the JSC2 portlet test environment to populate a USER_INFO map so that I can verify that everything's working correctly?
