User Default export settings

Hi,
i am not sure whether or not i am even in the correct forum category here but i have a question (Problem !!) which i am hoping someone can help with.
I have exported a report into excel and i used the list-export- function and then selected spreadsheet. This then gave me multiple options where i then selected one of them and clicked in the box which stated something like 'Always use this type'.
Now i cannot seem to export my reports in the desired format. Where can i find the settings to undo what i did so that i get the full list of file types back?

If I am reading your message correctly, you or a user selected "Always use this format" an now they want to change it.
We had this same problem some time ago and I keep this info handy as it took us forever to figure out.
I advise you to be careful as if you select all under General Data, it will delete everyone's setting.
Run program SALV_BS_ADMIN_MAINTAIN. (It is report Maintenance for ALV Control Data)
Under ALV Data select: All
Under Actions select: Delete
Under General Data select: Detailed Selection
(Fill in Client and Userid with issue.)
Execute.
Once you execute, it will show you that users settings. You can delete them with "Remove Line" and have the user try again.
There may be a different way, but we never found one and this works for us.

Default Export settings?

Is there anyway to set the export settings as a default? Ever since I did the new update it appears as if Premiere no longer remembers the last setting I used to export - as I am often doing 11 - 12 videos per day it is a huge waste of time for me to continually have to select the same export settings over and over.

Thanks for all your answers, however none of them really help me. I'm not asking about presets, I know very well how to set them up and how to use them in both Premiere and AME.
I have 12 presets saved and the number is still growing, I edit rushes into single clips every day and since they are shot on different cameras (DSLR, BMPCC, C300...) I have to use different presets for all of them.
At the moment when I hit export the setting always defaults to HD 720p 24 h.264 AAC 48kHz, which is useless to me as among other things all my exports have to have audio sampling dropped to 44100Hz. Before the update after selecting my preset once Premiere defaulted to the selected preset in following sequences, now it always defaults to the useless 720p 24fps setting.
It might not seem like a big issue to some, however when you are editing in volume and dealing with loads of formats like me, the ability to rely solely on keyboard shortcuts is massively important as it allows me to smash through an edit with looking at the export window only once.
I do realise I could queue my exports into AME and drag and drop my preset to all queued exports, however that's a loss of time for me, as normally I trim and colour correct my first clip, send it to AME and start the export, go back to Premiere and work on the next clip, send to to AME.... This way by the time I get to my final clip 70%-90% of all my exports from that project will be done, instead of waiting for all clips from one project to export.
I simply don't understand why there are some many options for storing effect presets and setting default effects but no default export setting or am I missing something? I like the new colours of the interface but functionality should always be more important.
Would be great to get an answer from Adobe about this but of course any suggestions and fixes are very welcome. If anyone knows of a way to downgrade to the previous version please tell me as from my perspective this version of premiere due to lack of functionality is not really an upgrade more of a 'bad facelift' looks better on the surface but hides damage on the inside.

Export Document to PNG file. Change default export settings.

In my plugin I need to export active document to png file with specific options. And sometimes I need to export definite pages from the document, but not all.
In standard UI of InDesign there are several basic steps of export:
1."File"->"Export";
2. Choose the location and filename to export to;
3. Customize export options.
In my plugin I need to have the possibility to set options from 2 and 3 steps.
I have found out that there are some bosses, which deal with PNG:

One of the ways to solve my problem is to create png export dialog (maybe IDialogMgr::CreateNewDialog), iterate over all widgets and set necessary values, but I don't know how to create this ExportDialog.
Any ideas how to solve this are of great value.

When I use kSDKDefDialogResourceID, it creates dialog, which was defined in my plugin resource file not a standard export dialog

Still cant find good export settings for clean blacks/fades...

I have been a professional videographer for years now working full time and STILL dont have default export settings that will give me nice clean footage. If its just straight footage without any fades to black, cc, or that kind of thing then im just fine. but in my current project i fade to black a couple times and fade back into my footage to create dramatic pauses, but the fades are always very pixelated, and if i darken footage, i can never get clean blacks, even if my iso is at zero, i always get tons of artifacts in my export even though it looks fine in my viewer before export.
im using a 7d with cs6 and have done tons of searching for people's export settings and have tried all of what ive found but none have helped. mostly i hear h.264 for codec and target/max bitrate at 5-10 / 10-30.. lots of variation there but either way, nothing works. doesnt matter what level i put it at, even at 5.1..
looking for export setting for a clean master cut thats not going to be 7gb for a 1 minute thing that will play back on my computer..
to make it short - how do i export to get clean blacks/dark areas and smooth fades?? THANKS

You are starting with compressed files... and then you compress again... that is a DOUBLE hit on quality
You might try some other software (no, I don't know which one) to edit your files and export without re-compressing

How to configure default parental settings for all users (10.7)?

I've made a silent installation of iTunes using MSI files and it works well.
I need to enable parental controls and configure it. Users must be preventing of changing these settings.
At the end of the iTunes installation I automatically created registry keys :

According to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2102 it is the procedure to set default parental settings for all users and to lock these settings.
When iTunes is first launched, parental settings are not set nor locked.
I use iTunes 64 bits on Windows 7 64 bits.
Where is the mistake?

Formatting a date according with user settings (user defaults)

Hi All,
I need to format a date I receive via JS in YYYYMMDD format according with user defaults <b>without</b> server side action (I know, this is not a good issue, but they want it).
My solution is to write a JS function (there are a lot of it on WWW) which accepts two strings and formats the first according to the second, something like:
userFormattedDate = formatDate('20060613','DD.MM.YYYY');
paying attention to generate 'DD.MM.YYYY' string on server side, according to user settings.
But if this isn't a weblog, where is the question? :-D
The question is: is there a JS function (in DatePicker or dateNavigator BSP) provided by standard libraries which serves similar functionality?
Does exist a JS public standard library?

Change default security settings for new Discoverer users? How?

Hello, using Discoverer 10g with SSO integration.
I've created two roles and create in advance users in the DB user, granting them
one of the two roles. The two roles privileges for Discoverer are already configured.
This way, when I create the user in the DB before launching Disco, granting the user one or the other role, I should be all set about what the user can or cannot do on Discoverer (Plus).
So far the theory :)
The problem is that the full permission given by Discoverer to each new user override the role settings, so each new user can do everything (instead one of the roles forbids saving and sharing, for example).
I have to go to Disco Admin and uncheck the "Plus/Viewer" checkbox for the user to make roles actually work as expected.
How can I set Discoverer user default as "Cannot do anything" on Plus/Viewer so that roles apply without further admin intervention?

Thanks a lot Rod.
The problem here is we need to allow portal users the ability to access Discoverer Plus without using Disco Admin: once a user is registered in the SSO, he should be able to connect successfully to Discoverer.
So we need creating user privileges on behalf of Disco Admin.
Tough job, but it seems it ca be done.

Web Dynpro SRM 7.0 - Access Shopping Cart One Screen User Default Settings

In my current project I have a requirement which includes to validate the user default values on shop on one screen functionality, my question is, how can I access to this information? In web dynpro there's no reference to this information and in addition is not stored in the database as is only "available" during the current Shopping Cart creation.

User default settings and DI

Dear all,
I have created a delivery draft add-on using DI api. Inside b1, each user account has its own defult for document numbering. However, when using the add-on to post delivery draft, the document numbering series is not using the user default. I am wondering if anyone knows how I can set the numbering series to the user default one?

Export settings for RealMedia

Hello everybody
I use PR Pro 1.5 and I created a short video (a collection of .avi source files that lasts no longer than 4 mn) that I need to export in various formats :
WMP and RealMedia for the web, and then AVI, QT and MPEG1 for cdroms, Knowing that the video is meant to be seen by a large audience, and that the original avi files properties are as follows : 720*576, audio rate=1024 kbps, 16 bits, PCM and video image rate 25/s, 29200kbps.
I am really new to all the concepts regarding audio and video codecs, time frame, bit rate etc. so I am a bit at a loss with the export settings.
So far, for each of these formats, my guess would be as shown below :
RealMedia for the web : export / adobe media encoder
codec : "RM9 NTSC download "32"," 62", "128" or "256 "? I don’t know which to choose or why. And just because 256 seems familiar, this is what I would select.
a- for the “Band width” I’d pick up the “56 dial-up” settings because of the large audience it is aiming at, ..
b- as for the “band width rate” I can choose between “variable” (average or high quality) or “continuous”, I’d pick “variable (average) because of the diversity of the audience connectivity
c- and then I have to choose the rate values (default values go from 700 max to 200 average), and here I really have no idea,
d- Then I have two drop down menus (for video and audio), first for a voice codec : there aren’t any voice on my video, so I’d pick the lowest value = 5kbps, second for a music codec : there’s a mp3 soundtrack on my video (rate: 200kbps, 2(stereo) and 44KHz), so I’d go for the “176kbps stereo music” selection in the drop down list, but I keep wondering why not “176 kbps audio surrounding”, or maybe it could be a lower or a higher rate.
e- and then again, I have the same two drop down menus (but this time for video only). Basically for the voice codec I’d make the same selection as above for both the voice and music codec.
a-In the video panel, I can decide to change the dimensions of the images. Default is set to 320*340, but my original files are 720*576. So should I change the default settings to match the real dimension of the images ? If I do so, will that increase the weight of my video and as a consequence the duration of download for the internet users ? Maybe I shouldn’t consider this as it should be a streaming video, … then the weight doesn’t really matter, and I can go for the 720*576 resolution. Except I’ve read somewhere that most servers that host videos are not dedicated to streaming, so in the end, the weight does matter for most internet users wishing to watch a video. … Shouldn’t I on the contrary leave the default dimensions as they are ?
b- and the in the next drop down menu I have to choose the video compression : “Real Video 9” or “Real Video 8” or “Real Video G2”. So … So G2 rings a bell somehow related to servers specializing in streaming (maybe I am completely wrong here … sorry). So I’d pick up that one to ensure that my video will be streamed. Then as an afterthought, as the total length of my video lasts no longer than 4 mn, maybe I can afford any of the two other options in the drop down menu. But which one is best ?
Jeez, this is a lot ! I’ll come back later on with my other formats and check if anybody is brave enough to answer !

Default Premiere Settings in Classroom/AD Environment

Hello Adobe Community,
I'm trying to find a way to be able to have customized settings for both sequence settings, preferences, and export in a college lab setting.
I've been able to find ways to "embed" export settings in the main export lists, however I am still trying to find a way to set custom sequence and preference settings on first launch of Premiere. I know these are stored in the user's personal "custom" folder, but is there a way to make it default to any user that may log into that computer?
A little about our setup: Apple OS X platform (10.10), students log in using their campus Active Directory credentials, using Adobe Creative Cloud.
I am aware of the "sync settings" feature in CC 2014, however that would not work in our environment due to the fact that we have a campus site license, not a individual department license.

I moved your post to the Legacy Application Development SDKs forum as I suspect that since you are using the reports in a 3rd party Progress app, the APIs used will belong to the Report Designer Component.
I believe all of the issues you describe, are resolved in CR XI Release 2 (11.5), Service Pack 6. You will have to get hold of the creators of the app and get them to help you upgrade to CR XI R2. Please note that you can not do the upgrade. The application will have to be recompiled with the correct Service Pack and the developer of the app will then have to release that to you as well as the CR XI R2 SP 6 runtime.

Can I save custom export settings in QuickTime Pro?

I'm using QuickTime Pro a lot to export/convert many different projects, but every time I need to change the export settings, because there is no way to save them inside QuickTime
I've found a description on how to do it wil Apple Script: http://lists.apple.com/archives/QuickTime-Users/2002/Nov/msg00295.html
But the problem is that it needs to run also Apple script to actually perform the export, and I don't want it - I'm not a scripter, and I need the settings to be easy to load.
I thoigh there is some prefs folder, where QT actually stores those default presets, where I can put some custom ones, but I didn't find such a folder...
Is there any way to do it?

QuickTime can only view WMP (Windows Media Player) files with third party software help:

To use Pro to export these files to QuickTime formats you'll need to pay for the upgrades at Flip4Mac.
Not all WMP files are supported.

Save Export Settings

Okay, there HAS to be a way to do this. I need to save different default AVI settings under Quicktime Export, or somehow create my own preset. The current default is Cinepak, which I will never, ever use. It makes no sense to have a "default" that is not user-configurable.
And yes, in Quicktime, I can just set it like I like (DV format) and use "Most Recent Settings." But when using Quicktime Export from FCP, it never remembers "Most Recent Settings." Any help is appreciated.

Thanks; I'm pretty sure this still adds a step, though, since I want to be able to export directly from FCP. I have to save as a Quicktime reference file and then run this action.
What I'd like is to be able to use Quicktime Export-->AVI with settings of MY choice. I feel like there must be a way to change default settings. Why would QT tease me with the useless "1x CD-ROM" and "2x CD-ROM" but not let me add my own?
I've only been on Mac for about a month, and I'm starting to wonder if Apple has a "we know what's best for the user" philosophy. I'm used to everything being configurable. And yes, actions and scripts can be very powerful, but it's inelegant compared to, say, clicking a button that says "save preset." And like I said, adds a step if you're using QT from within another program.
Argh.

Any way to override default printer settings into a PDF

Hi -- I work for a large organization that has lots of computers and printers and prints a lot of forms and documents. We are moving towards more digitization of documents and records including printing forms as needed as opposed to having large sets of forms onhand. This should save us a lot of time and money once complete as these forms often change and the old process would be to then trash much of these documents and re-print for just one change. The majority of our printers do have letter & legal trays as well as duplex support, however due to the vast number of users the default printer settings tied to each user and/or computer may be slightly different. While standardizing all the printer settings across all users/computers would be one solution, we don't anticipate doing this as depending on the job peformed the different settings may be more preferable / advantageous for that user.
As such the other solution I can think of is to hardcode the specific printer settings needed to correctly print a large document into that PDF file which may differ from that computer's print settings. For example, the default computer print settings may be to print on just 1 side but duplex would be encoded / scripted directly into the PDF so IRREGARDLESS of the computer/printer settings this document would always print duplexed.
Is there anyway to do this? I would need to do more than just duplexing -- ie some form sets would need to be both duplexed and 'fit to printable area' whereas some would need to be only on one page and 'shrunk to printable area', etc, etc. Our current practice is to insert a 1 page coversheet at the front of each document with the printer settings that need to be used for that form set, however this has been difficult for some users to do and has caused unnecessary time with our IT troubleshooting form printing.

You can use the Print Presets in Acrobat for that purpose. Please follow the steps below:
1. Open the PDF in Acrobat
2. Open Document Properties dialog (using Ctrl + D)
3. Select the "Advanced" tab
4. In the "Print dialog Presets" section, you can choose DuplexMode as well as Page Scaling for this document.

How to change default Export Format Type in Crystal Report Viewer

We are coding in VB.NET 2005 using the CR2008 SP1 .NET objects.
The Crystal Report Viewer, when displayed, defaults the export type as .rpt (Crystal Reports).
We distribute our .NET application to our customers. 99% of the time, this .rpt format is useless to our customers as they do not have crystal reports developer. They usually export to a .pdf or .xls format. Is there a way to default this export option to something other than .rpt?

Yes, that's as much as I figured.
With the Crystal for .NET methods, the CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine's reportdocument object has an ExportToDisk method. We wanted to use this (as we used something similar with the RDC) to prompt the user to export. However, the reportdocument's exporttodisk method does not have an argument that allows for Prompting the user (true/false) like the RDC's export did. You have to actually know ahead of time the type of export the user wants as well as the filename. Well, we do not, and therefore, want the user to be able to select the type of export they want as well as enter their own filename. We want the Crystal methods to prompt for this. Since we are unable to, we've had to resort to declaring a reportviewer object and setting the viewer's reportsource = to the reportdocument. We then use the ExportReport() method which defaults to .rpt (which none of our end users have Crystal Developer). This is why we want to know if there is a way to reset the default export method to something more common (such as .pdf or .xls). Is there a way to change the reportdocument's file type in order to default the export type? Just trying to come up with some sort of workaround...
