User-Defined Fields Window

Hi All,
I have one issue with the User-Defined Fields window of the ACTIVITY form.
I had added some user defined fields (UDF) to the Activities so that the User-Defined Fields are displaying in a separate window just near to the Activity window with Type (-651). All the UDFs are bound to the table, "OCLG".
I want to initialize the values in the User defined fields controls with a text when the form is loading.
I had tried to do this using
oForm.Datasources.DBDatasources.Item("OCLG").SetValue("U_CUST",0,"MyValue");When I executed this statement, i am getting HResult error.
Then I tried this by using UserDataSources.
The same error repeats.
But the code with .Specific.String = NewVal is working fine.
Can you please explain the scenarios that we are able to do it using .Specifc.String. Is this a true method for doing this?
if not
please tell me How can we do this using Datasources (DBDatasources/ UserDataSources),?
Please Help.
Thank you in Advance
Anoop

Anoop,
when you have created UDF in master item data, the textbox you can see on left side of form (separate form) is bounded already to this field. You cannot rebound it (its system form).
When you want to change the value, you must use specific.string or specific.value for that textbox (as you wrote), but the calcualted value will be stored into master table (change of udf will set formmode to update mode). If you dont need to update formmode, set the formmode by code to normal mode.
hope it helps
Petr

    I 've created a user defined field in the marketing documents
    I want tO put the result of a query into this field :
    I use a formatted search in order to have the result :
    SELECT T0.Balance FROM OCRD T0 WHERE T0.CardCode = $[$4.0]
    My query is based on CardCode(item 4), but when the user defined field window is open, the item 4 is the cross of this form and i have the result next :
    SELECT T0.Balance FROM OCRD T0 WHERE T0.CardCode = N'RSRCButtonCloseBox'
    Thanks

    Hi,
    It happened the same today for me, but using both, $[$4.0.0] and $[$4.1.0]... both of them return that RSRCButtonCloseBox....
    So, what is wrong here?

  • User defined field not visible "Conditions" tab

    I have created a user-defined field Z_E_PREIS that I want to use as a result-type of user field in condition table. When using a condition record that has this field, the field is not visible inthe "Conditions" tab of the transaction item. Why is that?
    Customizing activities done:
    - data element Z_E_PREIS (CHAR10) created with SE11
    - field catalog: field name "Z_E_PREIS" created in "Fields NotContained" tab, referring to data element Z_E_PREIS
    - BAdI /SAPCND/ROLLNAME activated for this field, for contexts CONTRACTand PRODUCT
    - condition table CUS9051 four fields:o search fields: sales org., distr.ch. and producto result field: Z_E_PREIS
    - access sequence Z951 with the fields from cond.tbl CUS9051- condition type ZZ51 using access sequence Z951, manual maintenanceallowed- pricing procedure ZZ901 with one condition type: ZZ51
    - determination of pricing procedure: sales org. 50004458 -distr.ch.01 - doc.pr.proc.Z
    - customer pr.proc. 1 => ZZ901
    - created transaction type ZF12 (doc.pr.proc Z) and item category ZV12and item category determination
    Master Data maintenance:
    - created condition maintenance group ZPRODCRM: added condition typeZZ51
    - condition maintenance group ZPRODCRM assigned to application CRM inMaster Data
    -> Products -> Special Settings for Sales Operations- created product ZTEST3, item category group U001, distributionchain "Rel Three - 01"
    - in ZTEST3, created three condition records for ZZ51 (sequential 2-week periods). User field Z_E_PREIS "Price Key" maintained for each of them.

    Hi Raja,
    Prior to trying Gordons option of unmarking and remarking them i would suggest you do a little more investigation as this can potentially change the field names in XL report and if you have any reports using them they may stop working (it can add a post fix of _1).
    Firstly, what are the fields set as in the User Defined Fields window in XL reporter?  Light Dimensions, Dimension Attribute or Measure?  If its a Dimension Attribute for example on the Business Partner UDF, it will not be visible in the tab section but should be shown if you drag and drop the Business Partner dimension in the report, then right click and choose display more attributes (dimension attribute UDFs will be in this list).  Light Dimensions and Measures should appear in the tabs.
    If they are set as a light dimension or measure and are not in the tab section, has this only just started happening or have they never been visible?  If its just started happening, having you recently upgraded to a new patch?  If so, in future you need to run a script on the Company and Common database prior to the patch upgrade.  If you did not run these scripts you will need to do Gordons solution but as I say, if any reports have UDFs in these may not work after and you will have to manually edit them.

  • Add User Defined Field (Landed Costs Window)

    Hello All!
    Somebody can help us on this, we wonder if someone can tell us how can we add a user defined field in the Landed Costs Windows -> Fixed Costs TAB place.
    We were unable to add this field, and now we're thinking that's impossible through the USER DEFINE FIELD function, there's not reference about Fixed Costs TAB in this tool, but if someone knows the 'how to', please help us.
    thanks in advance
    jssanche

    Hi Sanchez,
    I am afraid you could not do that. User defined field is not be added into landed cost. Landed cost seems like process external bank statement. I have ever asked to SAP support about this (how to add UDF in process external bank statement) and they said it could be done using add-on. You have developed add-on to do that (DI/UI or UI API only).

  • User-Defined Fields and Form Settings

    I have a User-Defined Field in the table "OCLG" and I'd like to show it in the "Activities Overview for Business Partner - xxx" window.
    Is possibile to do that by the "Form Settings" window? Here I don't find U-D Fields. Is there a way to show them?
    Or is there an other solution?

    Hi,
    This report is hardcoded. You need to create your own report for it. Better by Crystal Report.
    Thanks,

  • User defined fields reference in Matrix VB6

    I have a couple of user defined fields on the Delivery Details Matrix that I need to update.  I know that I need to reference them by index as follows:
    Set oEditText = oDelDetMatrix.Columns("Index").Cells.Item(ivlRowCounter).Specific
    oEditText.Value = CCur(dvlSomePrice)
    The problem is even if I check Watch window for the indexes I can not be certain what indexes to use for these columns.  Is there a way to get exact index number?
    Is there a way to reference matrix columns by by field names?

    Spoke too soon.....I just solved it ->
    Set oEditText = oDelDetMatrix.Columns("U_DolPerOz").Cells.Item(ivlRowCounter).Specific
    oEditText.Value = dvlSomePrice

  • User Defined Fields greyed out for one user

    Hi Experts,
    One of our users is a Super User but on the Business Partner Master Data screen, the User Defined Fields are greyed out.
    This is user specific as the issue is happening for the same user on 2 seperate PCs.
    Other users can update these UDFs - any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Greig

    Hi
    take a look at this SAP Note :
    Cannot access settings for the user defined fields
    Symptom
    Cannot access settings for the User Defined Field(UDF)
    Other terms
    UDF, user defined field, sbo-udf, settings for UDF are inactive, the settings for the udf are greyed out.
    Reason and Prerequisites
    Need to use the Settings option to order the udf.
    In Tools -> User Defined fields -> Settings the option 'Settings' is greyed out and inactive.
    Solution
    If in Tools -> User Defined fields -> settings and this option is not available then return to the document and click anywhere in the main document window.
    Now return to Tools -> User Defined fields -> settings and this option will now be active.

  • User Defined Fields/data items

    How can I add user defined fields on runtime in a pre-defined data blocks wiht the user defined attributes of data type, length and format masks.
    Ofcouse I should have those fields defined in DB first.
    Thanks for any help

    I have a similar need.
    I have a DB table that stores a list of questions and data types/sizes/usages of the answers required by the user of the form.
    In a multi-record database block, I currently list the questions, and supply a Text Item to capture the user's answers, and then provide validation code to check for the proper data type & number of characters.
    I would like to be able to use the data type/size/usage information that is stored with each question to create, at runtime, an appropriate item (numeric text item max length 3, or character drop-down list box, or character text item with an LOV, etc.) for each question record. In other words, one record could have a drop-down list box, while another record could have a numeric text item.
    I think that I can create separate fields for each type of item, and then enable/disable the fields when required, but this solution is less elegant than the programmatic solution that I desire.
    Is there a way to do this programmatically in Oracle Forms 6.0.5.0.2 for Windows, or with an OCX, or some other add-in? We do not have Oracle Applications in this group. Is there a way to get "FlexField" without having Oracle Applications?
    I agree that this is a normal requirement these days as administrator-type users (as opposed to data-entry end-users) of applications want to be able to dynamically customize the app for their usage.
    Oracle needs to address this issue by creating the ability in Forms/Reports to create customizable apps.
    Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

  • User Defined Field as a Link

    Hi All.
    I have an issue I need clearing up with.
    We have created a user defined field in the Item Master data..
    This field is a link to an image.
    the location/path is different from the default image folder specified under the genreal settings window.
    The picture does not appear when you click on the link in the user defined field, we have discovered that the folder give a permission denied message when trying to access it over the network.
    Could this be the reason the picture does not show?
    Thanks
    Jerusha

    You should have Full Permissions to the 'B1_SHR' folder in your Server, so that this problem will not occur.

  • User Defined Field with Link Type

    Hi,
    I am trying to create a user defined field to allow users to attach word documents to Item Master Data.
    I have successfully created a User Defined Field under master data with Type: Data, Structure: Link.
    It appears in the Item Master Data as I would expect. My questions relates to how to use this field. The first time I click on the field, a file browser window appears where I can select a file. Once I select the file I want I click ok and the path to this file appears in the field. The next time that I click on the field the file will open in its respective application.
    My question is: How when the field already contains a path to a file do I change this path so it points to a different file.
    Any help I can get on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Brian

    Hi,
    If you hold down Ctrl on your keyboard and then double click in the link it will allow you to browse to a different file.

    the reuirement is that a windows servisce program should run at regular intervals and trap the records  using tha user defined field.
    I need to write a stored procedure to capture those data.

    --Ravi

    First, does the registry value actually exist on the workstation? At
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\xxxxx.com\Location
    Second, how is the AutoFill set for that UDF? You'll find that in the Collection Option Set, in the "Collection Editor" tab, and you can edit it if "Run Collection Editor: Always" is turned on in the "General" tab.
    In the Collection Editor tab, find your UDF - Workstation, User, Inventory - and look at the AutoFill column. If it's set to "Always", then it should always populate during a scan. If it's set to "WhenEmpty", it'll only populate if nothing has already populated the field. If it's set to "Never", it'll never populate.
    Third, has an inventory scan run on the workstation in question? Nothing will be populated until a scan has taken place and the resulting WIF has been returned to the Collection Server and successfully loaded. You can force an immediate scan if you need to, but a scan must happen.

  • [Ask] User Defined Field

    Guys, I have two questions here...Hope you guys can help me solving the problems...
    1. How to make user defined field that link to user defined table?
    2. Can I make Query with Inventory master data as a base?
    Thx guys...

    Hi Dear,
    You can do this through SDK also as
    1) Create one UDT named OCT_ITEMSUBGRP1 as
    CreateTable("OCT_ITEMSUBGRP1", "Item SubGrroup1", 0)
    Create Table Procedure is
    Private Sub CreateTable(ByVal txttablename As String, ByVal txtTableDescription As String, ByVal txtTabletype As Integer)
            Dim iRet As Double
            Try
                OCT_tables = OCT_Company.GetBusinessObject(SAPbobsCOM.BoObjectTypes.oUserTables)
                If OCT_tables.GetByKey(CStr(txttablename)) = False Then
                    OCT_tables.TableName = txttablename
                    OCT_tables.TableDescription = txtTableDescription
                    OCT_tables.TableType = txtTabletype
                    iRet = OCT_tables.Add()
                    OCT_Application.SetStatusBarMessage("The Table " & txttablename & " is Added.", SAPbouiCOM.BoMessageTime.bmt_Short, False)
                    System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ReleaseComObject(OCT_tables)
                Else
                    OCT_tables = Nothing
                End If
                If iRet <> 0 Then
                    OCT_Application.MessageBox(OCT_Company.GetLastErrorDescription)
                End If
                OCT_tables = Nothing
                GC.Collect()
            Catch ex As Exception
                OCT_Application.MessageBox(ex.Message)
            End Try
        End Sub
    Step 2) Creating the Linked Field
    Create_FieldLinked("OITM", "SubGrp1", "Company Classification", 0, 0, 8, "OCT_ITEMSUBGRP1", "")
    Create Linked Table Procedure is
    Private Sub Create_FieldLinked(ByVal txttablename As String, ByVal txtFieldname As String, ByVal txtFieldDescription As String, ByVal type As Integer, ByVal subtype As Integer, ByVal size As Integer, ByVal linktable As String, ByVal ValidField As String)
            'Create Instance of UserTablesMD object
            OCT_FieldL = OCT_Company.GetBusinessObject(SAPbobsCOM.BoObjectTypes.oUserFields)
            Try
                OCT_FieldL.Name = txtFieldname
                OCT_FieldL.Type = type
                OCT_FieldL.Size = size
                OCT_FieldL.Description = txtFieldDescription
                OCT_FieldL.SubType = subtype
                OCT_FieldL.TableName = txttablename
                OCT_FieldL.EditSize = size
                If linktable <> "" Then
                    OCT_FieldL.LinkedTable = linktable
                    OCT_FieldL.Size = 8
                    OCT_FieldL.EditSize = 8
                End If
                IretCode = OCT_FieldL.Add()
                OCT_Application.SetStatusBarMessage("The Field " & txtFieldname & " is Added.", SAPbouiCOM.BoMessageTime.bmt_Short, False)
                If IretCode <> 0 Then
                    OCT_Application.MessageBox(OCT_Company.GetLastErrorDescription)
                End If
            Catch ex As Exception
                OCT_Application.MessageBox(ex.Message)
                System.Windows.Forms.Application.Exit()
            End Try
            OCT_FieldL = Nothing
            GC.Collect()
        End Sub
    Hope this will help you..
    Warm Regards,
