User login on which server?
Hi SDN
Where we have 2 or more servers, how can I, in my javacode find out which server the user has logged on to?
request.getServletRequest().getServerName() just gives me the name but not the "instance"
Thanks
Peter
Thanks,
just what I was looking for
10 p for you
IClusterInformation clusterInfo =
(IClusterInformation) PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources().getService("com.sap.portal.runtime.system.clusterinformation.clusterinformation");
String serverName = clusterInfo.getServerName(clusterInfo.getNodeId());

Hello,
In R/3 landscape there are 4 Application servers and CI Cluster (2 separate servers) and DB Cluster (2 separate servers)
In one of the CI Server, Message server and Enrique server is running. (allocated virtual IPs for this MSG server & ENQ server)
(End user will connect to the message server)
So when a request comes to message server, it will direct the request to one of the Application servers.
So according to the setup, all the users should reside in the Application servers. End- users are not allowed to login to CI server.
Only BASIS admins can login to this.
But when checking using al08, time to time it shows few users are login to this CI server (erpcv)
How this happens, Is that a problem with the message server or any other issue !!!
regards,You need to configure your servers in logon groups (SMLG) and distribute the correct logon groups to the users.
My assumption, There may be few users have SAPGUI points to directly to CI.
We also have 4 apps and 1 CI/MS and DB as cluster, but have allowed users to logon to all the servers (4 apps + 1 CI) this is due to nothing is running on CI+MS and technically speaking waste of CI resources if you are not allowing users to logon and using system.
Don't worry SMLG (load balancing) will take care of distributing the load. -
Multiple users login to 1 server when there are 2?
This causes high utilization on 1 server every day and very slow logins. How can I fix this?

; This is a sample of the slp configuration file.
; Two types of entries can be made: 1) DA entries, 2) SA Register Filters.
; The DA entry allows static configuration of a known DA. This would be used
; when the DA was out of multicast range and DHCP was not being used to
; configure the DA.
; The static DA configuration format is as follows 'DA <addr type>, <addr>'.
; The first word must be "DA". The addr type is the address type. Currently, only
; IPV4 has been defined. IPV6 will be defined in the future. The addr is
; the address specified.
; The following is an example of a static DA.
; DA IPV4, 130.1.1.1
; The SA Register Filter would be used when the administrator wanted all services
; of a specific service type being mapped to a single scope. For example,
; the administrator wanted all "lpr" printers being registered to scope "printer".
; The format is as follows: 'REGISTER TYPE "<type name>" to SCOPE "<scope name>"'.
; The parser will look for REGISTER, TYPE, and SCOPE as keywords followed by quote on
; a single line. Example:
; REGISTER TYPE "lpr" to SCOPE "eng"
; The last line must contain a line feed and char return. A semi-colon specifies a

hi guys,
was need to come out a report for the user login details. which has to have the date and time of the user login to SAP, with the terminal ID access from and transaction has done. can any one tell me what table it is from? or is there existing report that i can view all this? thankshi,
you can find the transactions by a particular user from the transaction SM04.
SM04 gives you the details of the users logged in,terminals, transactions the user is working on, the time he has logged in,no of sessions user has opened, and the memory used by the user's programs... all of that w.r.t to the client we login. but we can't get info like date and number of times the user has logged in.
U can see tables:
USR01 User master record (runtime data)
USR02 Logon data
USR03 User address data
USR05 User Master Parameter ID
USR12 User master authorization values
You can also use transaction code ST03N.
1. Go to tx code - ST03N
2. Under "Workload" you can select your "Instance or Total" so that it expands and shows you Days, Week, Month.
3. If you want to look at the transactions executed for a particular day, lets say, then double click on any day.
4. At the bottom left you get "Analysis Views"
5. Select & expand "User and Settlement Statistics"
6. Double click on "User Profile"
7. On the right side of the window you get a list of all the users
8. Double click on a particular user you want to view the details of.
9. The new screen will display the "Transactions/Reports Utilized by User XXX"
If you want to track which users executed a particular transacation then follow this:
10. In "Analysis Views" expand "Transaction Profile"
11. Double click on "Standard"
You can view the list of Transactions and Reports.
12. Double click on the Tx Code or Report you wanna check and it will show the Use of it.
hope this is helpful

Dear All,
I have a problem about user Login in SQL Server 2008.
because I restore database from another server, user Login for that database already created but not in instance user login. So when user login into instance name they have failed login.
what that i missed before restore database so when user login into instance they do not failed?
or how that i can copy user login from database to instance login? because when i add from add login wizard i have error user already created.
please help.
Best regards,
SurbaktiWhen a database is moved from one server to another server the login ids stored in the master database do not align with the login ids
stored in each user database or there is no login id or password associated with the user and user in the database becomes ORPHAN.
To fix this problem you need to transfer Logins & password refer below link to Transfer Logins & Passwords.

Force obiee Reload Server Metadata when every users login
hi, how to force obiee Reload Server Metadata when every users login?
because I use this method
[http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/10/29/oracle-bi-ee-101332-presentation-layer-translation/]
to do the translation.
but I found that if the server metadata is not reloaded. the presentation column names keeps previous one (language). Not sure about what authentication and web services EBS or Siebel have, but here is what we are doing at the State of Minnesota for PeopleSoft and OBIEE single-signon (no LDAP or SSO server required).
Two web services in PeopleSoft are used for user authentication. One web service simply requires valid PeopleSoft username & password in web service request SOAP header. Second web services determines the username of the PeopleSoft PS_TOKEN cookie (cookie is hashed string which is unique to user’s current PeopleSoft browser session).
BI Presentation Server in configured for single signon to pass PS_TOKEN cookie to BI Server as :USER variable.
Users can also connect directly to BI Server using JDBC or ODBC by providing valid PeopleSoft username & password. JDBC/ODBC tool which sends PeopleSoft credentials to BI Server :USER and :PASSWORD variables.
BI Server initialization blocks execute PL/SQL functions which invoke web services using either the PS_TOKEN cookie from :USER or the PeopleSoft username & password from :USER and :PASSWORD.
A user can login in directly to BI Answers/Dashboards by including a valid PeopleSoft username & password in the nqUser & nqPassword parameters of the Analytics URL. This requires PeopleSoft credentials in URL which poses a security risk. Separate Presentation Server without single signon configuration could be used for direct access.

Could somebody advise why this happen and how it can be solved?
There is a box called "Allow service to interact with desktop" in the service startup menu. What is it means and did it related to the problem?I think you are running into this:

Multi User Login to Mac Pro OS X Server?
I want to be able to create two(or more) virtual users to Mac pro server & to be able to login at same time through windows based laptop/desktop. Each user should be able to work seperately. Is it possible with below config? If yes, will it cause any performance issue?
Hardware:
3.33GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
12GB RAM
2 1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s hard drive
Software:

OS X Mountain Lion Server
OS X Mountain LionDevelopers?
They can use SSH to connect, login, and do unix shell -style development any time, without interrupting the main-display User (if any). Post a Post-it Note on the main display warning the main user not to restart without warning.
All you need to do is create regular Mac OS X Accounts for them so that they will have a place for their files to be kept and can create a shell session. They do not need to be Admins. You should Install Developer Tools to be sure XCode and all the tools are there for them to work.

AD user login or services will affect if we add new NPS server in existing AD environment ?
Hi
We have three Domain controllers in our company in Windows 2008 R2 platform and different RODCs .We would like to add an additional NPS server in it.Existing AD user login or services will affect by this?Hi,
Based on my research, if the NPS server is a member of an AD DS domain, NPS uses the directory service as its user account database and is part of
a single sign-on solution. The same set of credentials is used for network access control and to log on to an AD DS domain. NPS will compare user credentials that it receives from network access servers with the credentials that are stored for the user
account in AD DS to perform authentication. Furthermore, NPS server uses network policy and checks user account dial-in properties in AD DS to authorize connection requests.
For more information, please refer to the link below:
Register the NPS Server in Active Directory Domain Services

Dynamically configure different DNS server based on user login.
I've got two young sons and I'm looking to reconfigure the 'Family' desktop to give the older son his own user account.
I've only recently started with Arch on my personal netbook so the family desktop is still running Ubuntu. That will likely change next clean install though.
I'd like to set the DNS to OpenDNS 'family shield' for his usage but allow full access via a different DNS server such as google DNS (for example) for parental use without filtering.
I'd like this to switch auto magically based on the user login credentials if possible.
I understand the limitations of DNS filtering but my oldest son has never even heard of DNS much less being able to figure out how to circumvent it yet. I'll deal with that in several years when it becomes an issue...
Can anyone point me in the right direction?bergersau wrote:Thanks,
It looks like I might have to set up a squid proxy with Dan's Guardian. I was hoping for a simpler solution though.
Dan's Guardian is going to be a whole lot simpler than hacking the system resolver to use different servers for different users.
You MIGHT be able to hack something with iptables, the NAT table and a DNAT in conjunction with the 'owner' module... Something like:
Set your "unrestricted" DNS server in /etc/resolv.conf and a rule like below...
I'll assume you set the Google servers; 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and your son's usernames are 'brad' and 'tony'
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -d 8.8.8.8 -m owner --uid-owner brad -j dnat --to 208.67.222.222
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -d 8.8.4.4 -m owner --uid-owner brad -j dnat --to 208.67.220.220
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -d 8.8.8.8 -m owner --uid-owner tony -j dnat --to 208.67.222.222
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -d 8.8.4.4 -m owner --uid-owner tony -j dnat --to 208.67.220.220
Untested and I don't guarantee that will work. You could tidy it up and bit using subchains etc, but I'll leave that as an exercise for the reader.... And I'd still recommend a filtering proxy over the above.... -
To disable user login on a solaris 10 server
Hello Everybody
I want to know how to disable further users login, if suppose there are 10 users already login on a server & I don't want any more user to login on a server without getting those exsisting users to logoff.
RegardsI suppose you could write a wrapper script that uses who to count the number of connections and then:
touch /etc/nologin
to disable further logons at some arbitrary number. Then you could stick the script into cron and let it do it's thing.

Hi all,
I'm running a site that requires user login. I approached the building of this site as almost a complete newb to CF (and dynamic coding in general), and it's been a great learing experience (with lots of help from you guys).
However, I guess I never learned the correct way to handle a user login. It seemed to me that I could just test the user-entered credentials against those stored in a database, then set a session variable containg that user's record number. Then, not only would I have an easy way of knowing who this user was and therefore what info to serve him, but I could test for the existence of a valid login on every page in the protected folder, by adding this code to my application.cfc in that folder:
<cfset This.Sessionmanagement=true>
<cfset This.Sessiontimeout="#createtimespan(0,8,0,0)#">
<cfif NOT isDefined ("session.username") or NOT isDefined ("session.password") or NOT isDefined ("session.storeID")>
<cflocation url="../index.cfm" addtoken="no">
</cfif>
...and it goes on to run a query and verify that the session.username and session.password match for the store defined by session.storeID. If not, all session variables are cleared and it bounces you back to the login page. When the user clicks Logout, all I do is delete all the session variables.
This seemed to work great for like a year, but lately I've been getting reports that the login doesn't seem to persist for longer than approx. 20 minutes of inactivity. You can see I specified session variables to remain active for 8 hours (I know that seems like a drastically long login, but it's what's necessary for this application). I've only gotten this report from a few people, and I myself can't seem to duplicate it... I've tested an inactive login for 45 minutes now and it held.
SO: any reason you can think of why session variables would be spontaneously clearing for some people? Would having your router reset its IP address invalidate the session or something? Also, the problem seemed to begin appearing after my host upgraded all their servers to CF9... could there be any relation?
And on a more general note... did I go about this completely the wrong way to begin with? If so, what's the standard way to manage a login?
Lots of questions, I know... thanks very much for any answers or suggestions!
JoeIan,
Thanks very much - very helpful information.
Sounds like passing the tokens in every request is probably the way to go for this. I don't think it's likely that any users will be sharing links, unless they actually intend for the recipient to see their info anyway.
Is that all I would have to do, is add the tokens to every path? Would that guarantee that all the session variables would remain valid until timeout or being cleared?
Again, thanks, you've been really helpful.
Joe

Unfortunately this is the nature of HTTP web applications. There is NO state maintained from HTTP request to request. This is by design in the HTTP protocol specifications.
ColdFusion provides two methods to circumvent this limitation. Each method has limitations and caveats. They both rely on the passing of tokens between the client and the server with every request. These tokens can be passed as cookies OR URL (GET) variables. You are using the cookie method, which is the simpler and most common. You may be experiencing the limitation of this method. If something happens to the cookies the session can be lost.
You could pass the (CFID & CFTOKEN) OR JESSIONID tokens through the URL query string with every request. This requires one to add these values to every link, form action, cflocation or other request path in our application. ColdFusion provides the session.urltoken variable to make this easier to do. The tokens will be visible to the user. Also if the links with an individual token is share with other users, via e-mail, chat, social networks, etc and one of these users utilize the link during the life of a session (8 hours apparently in your case). Then that user will access the session of the original user.
Cookie session management is by far the most common choice by CF developers. If these methods do not meet your needs you would need to go beyond the HTTP limitations of web applications. One might be able to accomplish this with a Flex|Air|Flash applications that can be configured to use a continuous connection to the server. Thus not suffer the stateless nature of the normal HTTP request-response cycle.
I do not know if a router resetting would cause cookies to be discarded or otherwise invalidated. But I would not think it is beyond the relm of possibilities.

Does the Mac mini mid-2010 have an active PFC power supply?
I'm about to buy a UPS unit to run my NAS, and I'd like to connect my Mac mini to it as well. Does the Mac mini mid-2010 model have an active PFC (power factor correction) PSU (power supply unit)? I've read that if it does (as the Dell XPS series do)
