User Management In Ecommerce based on external user database

We have the scenario that requires that people in our membership database be charged based on a separate discounted price list.
For this we need to periodically sync the membership database into the web tools database. 
In addition we are using a consolidate business partner on the B1 to receive all orders from the ecommerce net point system.
Question is:
1.  Is there a technique to create users automatically and update their price list profile via SQL or something
2.  What is the best method of allowing someone to see a different price list based on perhaps the theme or catalog or domain name.

Hi Mike,
Sounds like you are in for some development.  There is no magic bullet here.
1.  I can think of a couple ways to approach this, both will probably be about the same amount of work.  If the schema of your membership db is not to far off from Webtools (for instance, if you don't have to turn a "name" field into "first name", "middle name", "last name"), then it might be easiest to approach the problem using SQL.
However, if you are comfortable with .NET, you can whip up a little app to synch the data.  In this case you would need to familiarize yourself with the netpoint.api, specifically the netpoint.api.account namespace, and use this to update the Webtools database.  If you plan on make a lot of customizations like this, I would suggest this route, since you will eventually need to learn the webtools api.
2.  This is a difficult question.  The simple answer is, you specifiy the pricelist for an account (business partner).  This is very simple, just set the UsersAccount.PriceListCode; refering to step one, this can be done in SQL or by using the netpoint.api.account.NPAccount object.  However, I am not sure this is going to work for you.  If all users on the account will have the same pricelist, you are OK.  But if the users on the same account required different pricelists, then there is a problem.
Last, you can NOT set a pricelist by theme.  (it would be a nice feature).  So if the users needed something like this, you would need to devise a workaround.
There are ways to do it by messing with the cookie....

  • User Management problem after upgrade of SAP DB/Database Studio

    Hi,
    after upgrading SAP DB to 7.8.02.21 and Database Studio to the same version (this is on Windows 7 64 bit professional) I experience that starting DB Studio as a normal user fails with a message regarding not being able to execute (?) User Management. To start the program I have to run it as administrator. Once I do this it will, afterwards, work fine for a normal user, too, but only for one day (or possibly one logon to Windows 7).
    (The error message does not even contain a hint to that solution)
    In previous versions it was necessary to run DB Studio once (after installation) as an adminstrator. After that it would work all the same for normal users.
    Is there a way to fix this? The desired behaviour being the one from previous versions that after one administrator run it can be started by my normal Windows user? It's, of course, not serious and I do know a workaround, but it's a bit annoying nonetheless.
    (And yes, I do know that Windows 7 is not an officially supported platform. I'm just shyly asking).

    due to the changes in the security concept in Windows 7 it's now required to be admin when you want to start or stop a service or to create 'global objects' like the shared memory files that are used to communicate between DBM-client, server and database kernel.
    Since the user management of MaxDB Studio actually is just a small MaxDB instance, the service for this must be running.
    To start the service and to create the shared memory the admin privilege is necessary on Windows 7.
    What you may do is to flag the dbstudio.exe as "execute as administrator" - that will give you a pop-up warning every time you run the program but it will work.
    I assume that is the workaround that you're already using and it's the one I use as well.
    AFAIK the colleagues in Berlin are working on a version that doesn't require a MaxDB instance for local user management - that should remove this kind of problem as well.

    I want to modify the SAP R3 User Id, but I couldn't.
    It told me that, Field USERNAME not a member of BAPIADDR3.

    To rename the sap user id, I will have to call to the tasks, create user and later delete old user, but my question is. How could I copy, to the new user, the old user's roles and profiles?

    Can anybody please tell me within the Ebusiness connector i.e. provided in 9.1 version connector pack, which one needs to be installed? there are 3 different categories within the same -
    1.) For the User Management connector:
    Oracle EBS User Management 9.1.0.0
    2.) For the User Management with HR Foundation connector:
    Oracle EBS HR Foundation User Management 9.1.0.0
    3.) For the User Management with TCA Foundation connector:
    Oracle EBS TCA Foundation User Management 9.1.0.
    I don't know which one resembles to which operations that OIM can perform. Can anybody please throw some light and explain which connector does what?

  • Externalizing users

    I installed EAS, Essbase, Shared services.
    I could conned via EAS with admin, password.
    I then set up a user in Shared Services, "testuser"
    I externalized users from EAS, Synced Native Directories from within Shared Services,
    when I try to connect vial EAS with "testuser" I get this error,
    Error: 1051293: Login fails due to invalid login credentials
    I can connect as "testuser" to Business Rules. How can I get to Essbase fomr EAS?
    "testuser" has admin right at this point.

    When you externalize your users, The security is now maintained by shared services. Ever time you make changes to security in shared services, you will have to do a "Refresh from Shared Services" for the changes to reflect in Essbase.
    Create test user in shared services and assign sufficient privilages to access essbase( Ignore this if you have already done this).
    Using admin id, login to eas
    -expand essbase server
    -right click on security
    -select "*Refresh security from Shared Services*"
    -Proceed to end of refresh
    Then log back in as test user and see if you can login.

    1) Created an organization -> Human Resource
    2) Created an Role -> HR_Admins
    3) Assigned HR_Admins roles as administrative role of Human Resource organization
    4) Created user1 with organization as Human Resource & Assigned HR_Admins role to this user.
    5) Created authorization policy for user management with following selections
    Permission -> Create User.
    Data Constraints -> Selected "Users that are members of selected Organizations" & selected above Human Resource organization.
    Assignment -> HR_Admins role .
    now when i log into user1 i am not able to see Administration tab where i can select Create user.
    I am working on this issue for couple of days ,but not able to find the solution & have i missed some configurations ?

    I have tested your scenarion.. with below clause
    1) Created an organization -> Human Resource
    2) Created an Role -> HR_Admins

    5) Created authorization policy for user management with following selections
    Permission -> Create User. :- *"Select ALL"*
    Data Constraints -> Selected "Users that are members of selected Organizations" & selected above Human Resource organization.
    Assignment -> HR_Admins role .
    In data constraints
    Organization Security Setting     Hierarchy Aware (include all Child Organizations)
    Now I am able to see the create user tab and, I can create user in Human Resource org only.
    If it doesn't work for you. Just assign "REQUEST ADMINISTRATOR" IN AUTH POLICY. Test the result.
    Also what is your OIM version?
    Test it with fresh data like new role name, org and user,

  • Weblogic Portal Exception causing user management issue in portal console

    We have weblogic 10.3 portal configured on Solaris environment. However after starting the servers, when we try to click a user in the user management console, the profile for that user will not come up. Below is the exception we are seeing in logs. Can someone plz help?

    After looking into the error first i dont think you are enter the right password.
    In case if you are entering the right password then you might not have the necessary admin rights on portal.

  • LSO External Users booking courses from Learning Portal !!!

    Hi Gurus,
    We want external user book a course using LSO. In order to do that, we have created the same user in Portal and R3 (using SSO). This user has related an External Person object "H" using infotype  1032, subtype 0001. The problem comes when this user booked from R3, and thru Portal we are not able to see any course at all..... If the user books from portal, R3 is booked as "US" object instead of "H" object. My questions are:
    1. Is this configuration OK ? What else I am missing ?
    2. Can results from courses be saved for external user in R3 (H object) ?
    3. How can we save final results for external user using Portal ?

    Thank you for your information, but is showing courses in portal. The problem comes with external user from portal, when users book a course from Portal, is register (R3) with the object "US" instead of "H" External Person. If we book the user from R3 with object "H" (External user) it does not showing any course in Portal. I believe it has something to do with the BADI (Assignment User ID to Learner)

    We've implemented SharePoint 2013 for internal and external domain users. We setup all users in our AD but the external users have their own company email addresses. Now, all of our users i.e. Internal DC users and External DC users can access and perform
    their work on SharePoint portal. However, External users are unable to receive any alerts.
    Any idea?

    Any updates?
    From your description, alerts work well on internal users while external users won't get email alerts.
    Since emails from SharePoint are sent via SMTP server, such as Exchange server. Not sure what SMTP server you are using integrated with SharePoint server. The issue might occur to two stage: one is if the alert is triggerred by SharePoint side, another is
    that if the email is sent via SMTP server.
    As alerts could be sent to internal users. Then I'd recommend you firstly troubleshoot if SMTP server works well for exteranl users.

  • External users cannot manage a persistent chat rooms - result in "Internal Server Errors"

    Hi All,
    I have small Lync setup based on a Standard Edition server, with the Persistent Chat server co-located on the SE. User within the organisation can manage chat room just fine via the web interface, yet external users are presented with an Internal Server
    Error.
    Looking at IIS, I can see an Application added to the Lync Internal Web site for Persistent Chat (which points to a physical location of "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Lync Server 2013\Web Components\PersistentChat\Int"), and on the Lync External
    site, I see a virtual directory pointing to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Lync Server 2013\Web Components\PersistentChat\Ext".
    Trying to navigate to the external site (on port 4443) on the SE server results in the following error:

    Hey guys,
    Any suggestions on how to have a web based user management system? I am looking for users to be able to change their user passwords from the web.
    Either to the local NetInfo or the Open Directory.
    Most of my users just use mail / webmail services and I want them to be able to change their passwords easily.
    I have looked into Usermin (usermin.com), but wonder if there is a better solutions.

    Dear all,
    we are working with JAM to support Project Collaboration. All of our employees are working with groups related to projects.
    But we also startet to work with people from outside the company, mostly customers.
    So they invite external group members to single groups.
    I would like to know if someone else has experience in working with external users.
    1) We have sometimes issues with their initial log on - the users get locked or the invitation cannot be opened in the browser. We know that there are specific browser settings required, which are fulfilled, but there must be something missing in some cases. Was someone facing similar issues and how did you fix that?
    2) How do you handle password reset? we always have to open a case for JAM support.

    My company switched over to Office 365 a few months ago, and now would like to start using our Public SharePoint site to share information (documents

    We would also like to use SharePoint as almost an "FTP type" service where we could post documents and share them with individual

    users. HOWEVER, instead of sharing individual documents, we were wondering if there was a way that an external user (that we have granted
    access) could sign into the public SharePoint site, and then see information that ONLY pertains to them.
    I have been doing some research on this, and I haven't seen that anyone else has tried this. Has anyone had any luck? Or would you have suggestions on how to make
    this work? I had originally posted this question on the Office 365 SharePoint forum, and they suggested posting this question here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    did you finally manage to get what you requested here above ? Indeed, I am also struggling to set up the same (public website with individual content sharing with external authentified user).
    For external user, I am quite sure that we need to go through MS ID creation (I have created some test users using https://login.live.com).
    Our public website is done and (almost) working. I have then created a sub-site for the same, this one to manage permission based on authentified user
    But I am stuck when trying to assign a document library with relavant permission.
    Would be great to share our feedback and I have searched a lto on the web and did not find any satisfying answer to this design (If there is any... here is my doubt...)

  • User Management - Configuring through code

    Create a session variable in the datasyn project. In a filter we will set a sesssion variable, the value of the session variable will be an array of strings. Each element of the array will contain the groups associated to the user. In Portal admin tool we have to configure to do entitlements from this session variable.
    Does anyone have any idea how to configure the entitlements in portal admin console thorugh a session variable?
    Please let me know if this approach of configuring user management through code is feasible?

    Just in case you missed it , if the condition is always based on the user's groups then you need not use session property set , you can directly use 'Add Groups to Role' when you are editing the visitor entitlement
    As a rule i would tend to avoid putting things in the session unless there was no other way. (in your case , everytime the user's group changes the session must be updated , it also means that changing the groups through any external means e.g. directly updating say the user ldap would not reflect in the users current session -- unless you wrote more code)
    The benefit of using the session would be that this need not be directly mapped to a group , it can be anything you want.
