User rights management

Hi
We may use Diadem for a group of 20 people, installed on Windows 2000 PC and/or Vista and using floatting licences . How can I set up user rights to allow only some people to do some operations, such as writting  dataplugins or create templates?
Is Diadem compatible with Vista?
Thanks

Hi condor31,
DIAdem 10.2 is the first DIAdem version that is VISTA compatible.  Even the DIAdem Base license will allow your users to edit and create REPORT and VIEW layouts, so I don't see any way to stop users from doing that.  The Base license will not offer an easy way to create DataPlugins, though, so you could discourage users from writing DataPlugins by assigning them to the Base license list.  The NI Volume License Manager utility enables you to specify who is allowed to check out what type of DIAdem license (Base, Advanced, Professional).  That is really your only recourse-- DIAdem is otherwise an open tool that encourages users to take advantage of activated features.

  • PA40 user rights problem

    Hi all,
    we have a problem in our user rights management.
    Our HR users should be able to create an 'org. management (mini master)'. So we gave them the right to tcode PA40.
    If they try to do this, they got the error 'No authorization to maintain Actions 52 exists' (messageNo. PG175). They even cannot search existing people ('No values found').
    Any ideas are very appreciated.
    Many thanks.
    Tom

    Not enough to just give TCODE, P_ORGIN must also be congigured correctly.
    e.g UNder Actions INftype, they need access to "52" in subtype field.
    Under Authorization Level, they need access to value "M" if they want to use search helps.

    I changed my Adobe user ID when we changed from Windows PC to Mac and now I am unable to read previously downloaded ebooks on my Sony Reader device due to Digital Rights Management.  Any ideas how I can get access to these now?

    Hi Blotontheland,
    Thanks for the prompt reply. The interesting thing is that my Macbook Pro was upgraded today to Yosemite and I still have the spinning wheel on the start up screen before the login page comes up.

  • Samba4 user groups rights management problem

    Hey,
    I have a network with an archlinux server as only server on the network.
    On the server with samba3 there are different directories with different user and group rights. Every user was existing twice, as a Linux user and as a samba user. In the samba smb.conf force group was set to the linux group, the files were forced 660 and directories 770.
    user 1-4 were in officesmbgroup with access only to share1
    user 1-2 were in officesmbgroup and extrasmbgroup with access to share1 and share2
    all 4 users exist as linux users and have ssh access to the linux server
    Example working on samba3
    [share1]
    available = Yes
    browseable = Yes
    comment = office
    create mask = 660
    directory mask = 2770
    force create mode = 660
    force directory mode = 2770
    force group = officesmbuser
    guest ok = No
    path = /data/office
    writeable = Yes
    valid users = @officesmbuser
    [share2]
    available = Yes
    browseable = Yes
    comment = office
    create mask = 660
    directory mask = 2770
    force create mode = 660
    force directory mode = 2770
    force group = extrasmbuser
    guest ok = No
    path = /data/extra
    writeable = Yes
    valid users = @extrasmbuser
    As I understood with samba4 this is no longer possible because it is not possible to force a linux group in samba any more. I figured out to mange this in samba4 standalone role mode. But this has a big disadvantage: I had to set all files on the shares to 666 and folders to 777.
    Working wtih samba4 standalone role mode, but security problem
    [share1]
    available = Yes
    browseable = Yes
    comment = office
    create mask = 666
    directory mask = 2777
    force create mode = 666
    force directory mode = 2777
    guest ok = No
    path = /data/office
    writeable = Yes
    valid users = user1, user2, user3, user4
    [share2]
    available = Yes
    browseable = Yes
    comment = office
    create mask = 666
    directory mask = 2777
    force create mode = 666
    force directory mode = 2777
    guest ok = No
    path = /data/extra
    writeable = Yes
    valid users = user1, user2
    This would be a problem because linux user3 and user4 have ssh access and would have access to all files on both shares in all directories.
    Is there another way to manage this or do I have to set up active directory, manage group rights there and leave the local rights on the linux machine at 660 and 770?
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks Bill, that was really handy.
    I'd used the Add ID option without being on a specific store, and it had placed it under Digital IDs. It was still offering me the option to use that certificate to authenticate against the server with. I imported the certificate into the Windows Digital ID section it now authenticates against the server perfectly.
    So problem solved, although I'm still not 100% sure why the Import Digital ID places the certificates into a location which doesn't work with Rights Management, although I'm sure there's a good reason.
    I'll make sure that we only add to the Windows Digital ID container in Acrobat/Reader or import directly into the Personal Certificate store in Windows for the demonstration.
    Thanks for your help in fixing this.

  • LC Rights Management End User can not find groups or users during policy creation process

    hello,
    I'm using LC8.0.1 turnkey install on win2003 box.
    Problem is LC Rights Management End User can not find groups or users (search result is empty) during policy creation process, thus can not apply specific restriction to certain groups or users.
    I have create a user in the DefaultDom and assigned the following roles:
    Live Cycle Rights Management Invite User
    Live Cycle Rights Management End User
    How can I allow the above created user to search for groups and user during policy creation? Thanks.

    Good catch Phuc. Make sure you do this for each Policy Set as well as My Policies.

  • Why users with E1 license can use Azure Right Management on Office 365?

    Hello All,
    We have bought 30 E3 Licenses on my office 365 tenant?. However, E1 users can send mail with Azure Right Management policies on Outook?
    Why does it happens?
    Regards
    Jose Osorio

    Hi Jose,
    As far as I know, for Enterprise E1 plan, subscribers can only add Office 365 Message Encryption on a per-user basis by purchasing Windows Azure Rights Management. You might want to have a check and see if you've added this for E1 users.
    By the way, this is the forum to discuss questions and feedback for Microsoft Office client. There is not so much about
    Office 365 license/service aspects here. For your question, I would suggest you to post in the dedicated forum of
    Office 365 Community, where you can get more experienced responses:
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/default.aspx
    The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Office 2013 Rights Management Services??

    I am trying to make a powerpoint file I have created in Office 2013 (on Windows 7 64 bit) a read-only file so that presenters cannot change content, but can still view and present the file normally.
    This was very easy to do with previous versions of Office, but in 2013 I am asked to sign in to "Rights Management Services" using my live ID. I have no problem with that, but it has not worked for me yet - I get the following error:
    Any advice or help would be much appreciated!
    A couple notes: I can still encrypt with a password, but this would not allow presenters to open, view and present the file without the password.

    Hi Dan,
    It seems that PowerPoint doesn't have Restrict Editing option available as described here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Protect-your-document-workbook-or-presentation-with-passwords-permission-and-other-restrictions-05084cc3-300d-4c1a-8416-38d3e37d6826?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US
    So the only option I see to complete your scenario is to use RMS - Rights Management Servers. However RMS can be installed as on-premises service, so you have to deploy and configure AD RMS server (it is not easy as it requires certificates, SQL, designing,
    etc).
    You can other options as weel - for example use Office 365 E3 or E4 licences. Those include Azure RMS subscription. If you have such license assigned to your user account, once you get prompt for credentials - type your O365 user credentials.
    Another option is to use RMS for individuals. Go to the page http://aka.ms/rms and register your private account to use RMS and then you would be able to sign in to RMS Service with your private e-mail account. Be advised that not all private e-mail domains
    are supported. For example you will not be able to register your @gmail.com or @hotmail.com account...

  • Group Policy - User Rights Assignments not taking effect on workstation`

    Novell 5.1 SP7. ZenWorks 3.2 sp3. Windows XP Pro workstations.
    In Group Policy, (Computer Configuration/Windows Settings/Security
    Settings/Local Policies/User Rights Assignment), I have added Power Users to
    the "Load and Unload device drivers" policy. However this setting is not
    taking effect on my Windows XP workstations. My DLU policy for users is
    configured to have the users members of the "Users" and "Power Users" groups
    on the local PC.
    Other parts of Group Policy (Computer Policy/Administrative Templates) are
    taking effect on the workstation, so I'm wondering if the problem I am
    having is related to Security Settings only.

  • LiveCycle Designer ES Rights Management

    Hi
    I am new to LiveCycle Designer ES (included in my copy of Acrobat 9 Pro) and am still trying to figure out if I can utilize the rights management server features (or if I would need to based on available features). While I suspect that this would require purchase of software additional to what is included in the Acrobat 9 Pro package, I am not sure about this. I've read what is available in the help guide and online, but I am still unclear about use of these extra features. If setting up a policy and restricting PDF content to make it more secure is available, this may be useful in a particular health project.
    I have a website (latest Windows server) managed by an ISP and am wondering if I could use this shared server as a LifeCycle Rights Management server. If I created a connection and policy for this server (not sure what is involved here), could I use it to better secure a PDF or form with sensitive (health) information?
    Any help, suggestions for reading, would be appreciated. I'm afraid I am not understanding this set of features, how to use them or if they can be used without additional purchase of software.
    Kind Regards,
    Stephen

    Yes additional software is required, as well as a https link to the server. The Rights management server is part of the LiveCycle suite and it will allow you to define policies that can be applied to various PDFs. These policies are kept separate from the PDF and are accessed via the https link I mentioned earlier. When opening the PDF the user must authenticate and based on his/her permissions in the policy the interface in Acrobat/Reader will adjust accordingly. For example if print is disabled then the print buttons will be greyed out for that form only. Because the policy is separated from the PDF you can change the policy on the fly and the next time the user opens that document the new rights will be applied. There is also a provision for working offline (no access to the server).
    This is just a 10000 foot view you may want to contact a Sales rep and have them start a trial for you.

  • Microsoft Office has detected a problem with your Information Right Management configuration.

    Hi , I have a Windows Server 2012 RMS Cluster with Cryptograph Version 1 and trusted public certificates. I am using AD RMS at the moment with Exchange and it works fine via Outlook Webapp and client workstations.
    I have a Windows 2008R2 Terminal Server which has Office2010 Pro Plus 32bit edition that cannot use ADRMS. The Windows Firewall is turned off on all profiles. The images below show some of the errors that
    are being presented on the terminal server.
    1.This image . When I reboot the server , the first message states , retrieving rights management url and then the error message pops up.
    2.When I try and protect a word document: A prompt pops up to sing in with a Windows Live ID or Use a Microsoft Account.
    3.The image below is the output from IRM Check. As you can see there is a warning about Office and there are no user or
    machines certificates.
    Sean

    Hi Sean -
    In my experience, this error occurs when the client cannot contact the AD RMS server.  Can you confirm that the computer is domain-joined and you have registered the Service Connection Point?  This the default way the user finds its RMS cluster.
    You can also direct the client using registry keys.
    I also recommend trying to reach the licensing/certification pipelines directly using Internet Explorer to confirm you have connectivity from the client to the RMS server.  Open IE and navigate to
    https://adrmsurl.com/_wmcs/certification/certification.asmx and confirm you do not receive an error.
    I hope that helps,

  • Applying rights management through a watched folder

    Greetings -- I'm trying to apply rights management to a PDF through a watched folder. I've created a short-lived process that invokes the Rights management Apply Policy module and created a watched folder endpoint. When I drop a PDF file into the watched folder, however, the result ends up in the failure bin (after a very, very long delay). Here's the error from the resultant log file:
    Failure Time----Tue Mar 11 11:18:30 EDT 2008
    source location ---- Reason of failure is-----Failure to invoke the job Apply Policy
    Failure to invoke the job Apply Policy

    at com.adobe.idp.dsc.provider.service.file.scan.impl.FileScanJobImpl.invokeJob(FileScanJobIm pl.java:323)
    Any ideas on how to fix this?

    I believe the issue is that the user that you named in the enpoint definition as the person who will execute the service has to be named in the policy. Add that user to your policy.

  • Editing of Rights Management protected files not allowed on mobile?

    Hi, I have problem editing/annotating an Adobe Rights Management protected pdf file on my iPhone. I am authorized and can edit that file on my PC. I'd like to know if such limitation on mobile is normal. Thanks.

    Hi Pat,
    We really..really hope that Adobe will do the fixes to enable annotation will be provided asap because we had a lot of feedbacks from our users that had been embarked with the LiveCycle policy protected file and they had requested to have the annotation feature. Its pointless not to able to annotate a pdf file even you had been allowed to modify the file in the policy set. Even the annotation tool is now available in the adobe reader mobile but the tool cannot be used for protected file with LiveCycle policy. Quite disappointed response by our users on the unavailable feature for annotation.
    when we could expect the fixes to be provided and we could tell the good news to our valuable users. Any target date or time?

  • Rights managment off line permit question

    I set a policy to allow off line for 2 days as well as an off line permit for a group with in the policy. Then I opened it and checked the policy, and found it set correctly. When I tried to open it again off line it gave me a message that the computer must be connected to the Internet to open the document. What did I do wrong??

    For a document to be opened offline, a "Principal Key" for the user who has "offline" permissions is required on the client system that is being used to view the document.
    If the document has been opened while online, then the synchronization should be occurring in the background.  If the document has never been opened, and no synchronization (of principal keys) has occurred, then the document will not open offline.  Each time a connection is established between Acrobat or Reader with the Rights Management server, the client should synchronize with the server and get any principal keys that related to documents that the user has offline permissions.
    Try forcing a synchronization, from Acrobat select Advanced > Security > Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management > Synchronize for Offline.  If you are using Reader, select Document > Security > Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management > Synchronize for Offline
