User unable to edit document in protected mode until 'enable all features' is selected everytime.

In light of the most recent vulnerabilities identified in version 10.1.1 and the instructions in -  http://www.adobe.com/support/security/advisories/apsa11-04.html
to use protected mode, I have informed my customers how that should be performed. However, I have at least one user that is unable to edit their document until they select the ' enable all features' function. Even after they do that, and the specific file is listed in the in the security (enhanced) > priviledged locations list, the user is required to select 'enable all features' every time for this file.
Can someone tell me a solution?

  • Unable to edit documents in Sharepoint 2013

    Hi,
unable to edit documents in SP2013.while editing getting the following error. Please guide me on this.
    Thanks In advance

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that only
one user could not edit documents in SP2013 with OWA.
You can use compatibility mode to check whether it works.
    Open IE->Tools->Compatibility View Settings
You can also add the site into Trusted sites.
    Open the
IE->Internet Options->Security->Sites->add the site into the Websites, then check whether it works.
What's more, you can also use other browsers to check whether it works, such as Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer 10.
Check whether the user has permission to the documents.
Here is a link you can use as a reference:

  • Unable to edit document using "Edit with Word" option

    Hi All,
i am having an issue with Office web apps. i am using SharePoint 2013 and Office web apps 2013. all the configurations have been done successfully. but i have a different kind of issue.
i am able to open documents in browser
i am able to edit document using " edit with word/excel web" option
but i am unable to edit document using "edit with word/excel" option
i have Office 2010 installed on my local machine.
do we need to have MS office of 2013 version? or is there anything missing from configuration part.
    Please help me.
    Thank You,
    Bhaskar.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you could not use the "edit with word/excel" option.
I had tested the issue with the Office 2010, the option worked well.
You don’t need to install the Office 2013 to use this option.
What did you mean “but i am unable to edit document using "edit with word/excel" option
Did you mean the option gray out? Did the issue occur in other browsers?
You can use compatibility mode to check whether it works.
    Open IE->Tools->Compatibility View Settings

  • Unable to edit documents in InDesign CS4

    Hello,
A work colleague has recently changed their laptop and installed CS4 - since the getting new computer he has been unable to edit documents (which are fine on my machine). He can select objects and reposition on the screen, but can't edit/delete. He can place the cursor and type new text, but can't edit existing text and is unable to move the cursor with the cursor keys.
The objects are not on the master page or locked.
Our Corporate IT has recently revoked all admin access to our own machines - could this affect InDesign? (No-one else seems to be effected)
We have tried uninstalling/reinstalling and deleting the prefs, but to to avail.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi Peter,
    Thanks for the reply.
My colleague had CS4 installed on his previous machine and had been using it without problem for over a year - its only since receiving his new laptop that the issues have started.
Unfortunately, I don't think setting up a new user account is really an option (it requires assistance from our parent company's IT dept.).
Yes, we did follow the instructions in the link when replacing the prefs files.
    Regards,
    James

  • Unable to edit documents after AVG installation

I have a dual drive Toshiba laptop, which has been recntly updated from Vista to Windows 7. Windows 7 has taken up most of my C drive, so I have had to put programs onto the other data E drive. The other day I bought AVG ant-virus 2011 and put it onto my computer (data e drive). Since then, even after taking avg off, I am unable to edit documents on office Word or OpenOffice. it seems to be doing it to my external drive (that I have added) as well as now. Its strange since this only started as soon as i used AVG. Any suggestions what the problem could be? How it can be resolved.
I really need some help, as my computer seems to be slowly dying! Tried to get in contact with AVG but they seem just to be ignoring the problem at the moment.
    Thanks for any help,

    Hi buddy,
    > Its strange since this only started as soon as i used AVG.
In this case I would contact AVG directly if they can say something about this or if its a known issue. I never heard about this but AVG should know what to do now.
I dont know what notebook you have but Im pretty sure its a software issue and it seems to be related to AVG

  • Unable to edit document from SharePoint 2007 using Office 2013 and IE 11

I am getting the following error when I try to edit a document from SharePoint 2007: "Edit document
requires a Windows Sharepoint services-compatible application and Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater". I am using Windows 7 with Office 2013 and Internet Explorer 11. Troubleshooting steps that I've tried so far (that haven't worked) are as follows:
    1) repaired Office; 2) switched from 64 bit version of IE to 32 bit version; 3) moved the owssupp.dll from C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\ to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15; 4) tried removing old versions of Office (but
I still need to use Office Communicator 2007 r2 and couldn't figure out how to get rid of the Office14 files from Program Files); and 5) running SharePoint in IE compatibility mode. Please advise...thanks!

    Hi,
It seems you installed mixed version Office2007/2010/2013 on your client machine?
I would suggest you remove all Office 2007 and 2010 version, and reinstall Office 2013(include Office Tools->Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Support component) on your machine, and make sure "Open SharePointDocuments class" add-on is enabled
from IE11, then check if it could fix the issue.
If above works, please test again after installing the Office Communicator 2007 r2 on your machine.

  • User unable to edit contacts

I have a user with Outlook 2013 connected to an 2010 Exchange Server. I have a user that is unable to edit any existing contact, getting an error: Your changes cannot be saved because you don't have permission to modify some or all of the items in this folder.
Do you want to save a copy of this item in the default folder for the item?
I have checked the permissions on the mailbox folder as well as the Contacts folder. The user has "Owner" permission to these folders.
No other users report the problem, and loading the users account on another computer demonstrates the same problem.
Any ideas what I am missing?

    Hi,
The error indicates that the issue is related to permission. I recommend you use the Get-MailboxPermission -Identity xxx |fl cmdlet to check if the permission is right. What's more, please check if OWA has the same issue.
If the issue persists, I recommend you remove the owner permission at first. Secondly, use the following cmdlet to add the owner permission and check the result.
    Add-MailboxPermission -Identity "xxx" -Owner "xxx"
    Hope it helps.

  • Unable to edit Document in WEB UI, when the status is Closed.

    Hi,
I am working on Service Request Transaction in WEB UI. When the status of the document is set to closed, I am unable to edit the fields. Could you please help me why the system is behaving in this way? Any configuration is involved in this?
    Thanks,
    Sandeep

Some standard system statuses are preconfigured to disalowe certain activities when the system status s set. You can try setting in your status profile for that status the business transaction "Change document" to "Allowed".

  • User unable to sign document with epad after extending features (Permission Error)

    Here's my situation;
I've provided a form for a user that has an epad to sign the document, the pdf itself has had text and signature fields added in LiveCycle, and within Acrobat Pro 9 the features have been extended. The user is still receiving the following; "The security settings on this document prevent adding text and/or placing a signature on it from Adobe Reader. To fill and sign this document you need to print it out."
What have I missed? From what I've understood in researching this, extending the features in Acrobat Pro should be enough to allow a user in Reader to sign the document.
Can provide file if need be.
    Thanks

Your user should go to Extended pane in Reader to apply a digital signature to the Reader extended PDF.
The user is probably trying to use the Sign pane in Reader which has some options disabled according to the document permissions. The new Sign pane in Reader is an integration with Adobe EchoSign service in the sense that it enables an end user to fill-up documents, electronically sign and then send a PDF document, without having the need to print them. The Sign pane provides two options to the user:
1 - Fill and Sign: Here the user can place text using 'Add Text'. Users can add arbitrary text to a PDF, eg. in documents where Reader cannot interact with the document even though the document looks like a form, in forms where user cannot save the filled-up form. In such cases the only option a user has is to print the form, fill it and then fax or fedex the filled up document to the author or scan it and send it electronically. Using the Sign pane in Reader, a user can add text and also electronically sign the document (this is not the same as digital signature) using an image of their signature. He can create a 'signature' from a scanned paper which has user's handwritten signature and place it on the PDF.
2 - Send for Signature: Here the user is sent to EchoSign for collecting signatures from others.
    Hope that helps.

  • User unable to edit SP documents (Excel in particular) by clicking on Edit Workbook - Edit in Excel

    Strange problem..
Site is on 2013 (it is hosted in Office 365) and the user is running IE9.  Just recently updated from IE8 where there was no problem.
The issue is when she browses to an Excel document on the site and then clicks "Edit Workbook" and then "Edit in Excel"  -  the window stating "We're opening your workbook in Microsoft Excel..." appears, but it never
actually launches Excel.  She can then click on "Edit in Excel Online" and it works, but she prefers to work out of the Excel client.
IF she has the foresight to click the "..." on the document and chooses the option to Edit from there, the site launches Excel and she is able to work as expected.
She has tried on multiple documents as well as on a document in her OneDrive.  All behave the same.
I am able to launch this (also IE9 on a machine) without issue.   She is able to launch in Firefox/Chrome and it works.   Editing it online is just fine too, no matter which browser.  We updated the Office install to the latest
    version.
So the only trouble seems to be IE9, her machine, clicking the edit in excel option after you have opened up the work book.   The IE9 settings should be pretty standard for our company's build so why her machine is not working is not clear.
Any ideas on what to check or change?

Mine is also Same problem which is having Bill,
Solid advice.  I did notice a couple of things..
1- My IE9 which works does not have the OpenDcouments Class Add-on listed.  Hers did.
2- We can't reset IE (locked down)
3- testing it in compatibility mode worked.  Oddly we turned compatibility mode off and it continued to work.
The one thing we questioned was the installation of the latest version of Office that was done during the preliminary testing, similar to repairing from what I can see, but it was done without a reboot (never prompted, never crossed my mind) and after we finished
but before I tested these things she had rebooted.  Perhaps that helped?
Either way it is working properly now. Thanks.

  • Unable to edit document template in SharePoint 2013

We have uploaded a set of templates that users can select from the drop down list in the Document field in the Document Library.  We now need to edit one of these document templates.
We follow the procedure and make the edits which changes the template but when we then select that template from the drop down list, the edits have not been actioned.
    Can anyone please assist?

    Hi,
As I understand, The modification was not saved back to the template.
How do you edit the document template?
Check if the URL of the template is right. You can go to the site setting->site content type->click the content type you want to edit->advanced setting->edit the template->open the template, and click file->to check if the URL under the template is right.
As a workaround, when you edit the template you can save the template in the local computer, and you can upload the template you have saved in the advanced setting for the content type.
The article below is about how to create Document Templates for Document Libraries in SharePoint 2010, it also can work in SharePoint 2013.

  • Users unable to edit pages

    Hi,
I have a particular department in my company who cannot edit
their pages as it say they are currently being edited by anyother
user. In the past when this has occured I have searched the web
server for .lck files and deleted them and this resolves the issue.
However, in this case, there are no .lck files so I have no
    idea what to do.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Definately there should be a .LCK file. Say your page is on
    the url
    http://servername/directory/page.htm,
in the same page browse to
    http://servername/directory/page.htm.LCK.
You need to remove this or
just edit it and remove the contents of it and save it.
I guess, deleting the .LCK file still re-creates it on the
    fly. So try
to edit the .LCK file and remove the contents of it and try.
Later you may want to Create a Copy of the Current page and
    delete this
page which is being locked out.

  • Unable to edit Document Set metadata.

I have a Library with Document Sets enabled.  The metadata for the documents and the DS are defined and the columns visible (set to optional) from within each content type under library settings.  However, when I select a DS and then click Edit
Properties, I can only change the DS Name and the Content Type (DS or Folder).  None of the other metadata from the DS content type is visible.  The extra metadata shows when I create a new DS item, but there is no way to change it after the fact.
    Anyone have any ideas?

It is possible to make it do that but i can't imagine how it could happen without sigificant deliberate effort.
It is possible to modify the columns on a content type so that they do not appear on specific views (view, new, edit) but it's a fairly obscure trick and you need PowerShell to do it. If this has happened then you could use PowerShell to correct the settings
but i dislike treating the symptoms of a problem unless you know the cause.
There are some columns that are set by default to only appear on set views but that would normally affect the items as well as the document sets.
For a random thought you could look at the effectts of seting the columns to be shared throught the document set, it's possible that i've forgotten a bit of default behaviour and that the columns are being hidden on purpose. Other than that i'm out of ideas
i'm afraid. Hopefully someone else may be able to contribute.
