Username (login) in Dashboards

Hi!
My goal is to display different components for different users (admin and guest) on the same dashboard. So, I should determine current user.
I see 2 feasible ways:
1. Use CESerializedSession variable, but I don't know how to parse it (and can't find any documentation about it).
2. Get user information in the universe and query it in the dashboard.
Any other suggestions?

Yury,
CESerializedSession would be l'il complicated to parse as every time the string is going to change as per username.
Best way I could suggest is to create a WEBI report and use following formula to retrieve user name:
=CurrentUser()
This can get me username. Now you want to show different components to different users.
For this,
1. You can have a list of users in Excelsheet
2. A BIWS that gives in username in xcelsius
3. Dynamic visibility that will compare username with key.
This is how you can achieve the expected behavior.
L'il interesting it is!
Thanks,
Tejas

  • Problem with: Action Required: Your AOL Username login must transition to Apple ID

In the early days of the iTunes store, it was possible to log in and make purchases with an AOL screen name. This has since been discontinued. In March 2015, Apple sent out a message to legacy iTunes account holders who have not yet converted their iTunes accounts from an AOL screen name to an Apple ID.
However, the conversion program seem to be completely mismanaged and full of glitches and problems. If Apple does nothing about this, the company will face costly class action lawsuits by disgruntled consumers who purchased music but will in the future be prevented from playing it.
I tried to follow the directions, but I am not able to log into the iTunes account under the AOL screen name. I tried to initiate a password recovery through the recovery email, but the recovery message with the re-sent link never arrives.
I contacted Apple support several times. During very lengthy (several hours long) conversations, we were able to locate the account. However, I was told that Apple cannot reset the password and give me access to the account - I should contact AOL. My appeals that this would be illogical because AOL does not have the power to change passwords on an iTunes store account were ignored, and it was clear that each Apple employees I spoke with just wanted to push the problem on someone else.
So I contacted AOL and was told that they have nothing to do with this. Nevertheless, we reset the password for the AOL screen name. As I predicted, this made no difference for the iTunes account: I still cannot log in.
Today I contacted Apple again, and after we we made certain that I we identified the correct iTunes account, the Apple employee manually initiated a recovery e-mail sent to me. However, the confirmation message I received refers to resetting the existing Apple ID (not the iTunes store account we are trying to turn into an Apple ID).
Clearly, there is a glitch in the system. It somehow intermingles and confuses information from the Apple ID and the AOL Screen Name / iTunes store ID and thinks that we are trying to reset the Apple ID.
Apple's response was ridiculous: Talk to AOL. (I already have done that and established that changing the AOL SN password does not allow me to gain access to the iTunes account).
This is my 4th call to Apple. Each lasted several hours (including hold time). Now I've been on hold for about 3 hours while I'm waiting to talk to a higher tier tech support person.
Does anyone have similar problems with this conversion? Any solutions?

You need to sign in with just the user name. not with the @aol.com at the end.
Example: If your AOL username is AOLUSERNAME & your AOL email is [email protected], you must log in with only AOLUSERNAME & your AOL email password & it will prompt you to change it. You can’t use your @aol email, it must be something else.

  • Action Required: Your AOL Username login must transition to Apple ID

I have had this email a couple of times in the last few days...
the other day I created my Apple ID for my daughters IPhone and there was nothing about this popping up despite downloading the latest iTunes on my other laptop.
Here is the EMail - Is it Genuine?
Our records indicate that you have been using your AOL Username to sign in to the iTunes Store, App Store or iBooks Store.
After the 30th March 2015, AOL will no longer support your ability to sign in to iTunes Store, App Store or iBooks Store. In order to continue using store features, including the ability to access your previously purchased content, you must transition from signing in with your AOL Username to signing in with an Apple ID.
To make this transition, simply sign in once more with your AOL Username to iTunes on your Mac or PC. You will automatically be taken through a few short steps to complete the process.
When the process is complete, your new Apple ID will allow you to continue to purchase and download music, films, TV shows, apps, books and more. Additionally, your Apple ID will allow you to access other Apple services, such as iCloud and the Apple Online Store.
This transition does not affect any AOL services that you may be using with your AOL Username.
AOL Usernames which have not been transitioned to Apple ID will permanently lose access to iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store after the 30th March 2015. Apple will be unable to provide support for AOL Usernames which are not transitioned by this date.
To learn more about this transition, visit                    support.apple.com/kb/HT204268.

  • Implement User Authorization to View Dashboard

How if I want to create different views of the one dashboard created with Xcelsius based on the user permissions. Suppose I have 10 Projects information in the dashboard. I want one group of users to see first 5 projects in the dashboard and another group of users to see another 5 projects detail only. It would be very helpful for me. Thanks
Please note that I am using only excel sheet as data source and then exporting the dashboard as html file.

You can generate a user authorisation matrix mentioned which user is authorised to which project. This can either be maintained in an excel or generated in BW which is consumed in the dashboard via queries
Next step would be derive the user ID from flash variable; check the link Username (login) in Dashboards
So based on the authorisation matrix and the user ID captured from the session, you can display only the entries based on the authorisation for the user

  • How to change Dashboard Tabs based upon the login?

    Hi All,

    B,
I mean assuming you have a security model, users are in groups etc. And you have one group allowed to access tab 1, and you build tab2 for another group....
The dashboard page properties screen, has a padlock icon against page, here you can set up the presentation catalogue privs for the dashboard page, assign users / groups read access, prohibit access as you see fit.
To get to the page properties, edit the dashboard itself, on the top row of icons against the page dropdown list is our friend, the pointy finger, hit this to get to the page properties screen, you can change order, rename pages and in this case, set security per page.
For discussions on the security model, RPD groups & Web cat groups - best we start another thread !! have a search on the forum first though, its been covered many times :-)
    Cheers,

  • Dashboard loads upon login so it's ready to go upon first use

Isn't there some kind of Apple app that loads the Dashboard upon login? I recall seeing a 'DashboardClient' item in my Login Items when I installed Tiger on my G3 iMac. Since my Login Items list was so long I deleted the DashboardClient among others.
Now when I activate Dashboard for the first time, it takes a few minutes to load everything.
I have used File Buddy and Spotlight to look for a DashboardClient app or process or something to no avail.
I know I have seen others suggesting 3rd party apps to correct this issue but I'd rather use an already provided Apple solution if it's really there.
    Any thoughts?
iMac DV SE (Summer 2001)   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   1GB RAM; 500GB Ext FW HD; Pioneer DVR-111 OD

There is a dashboard application in your applications
    folder.
    Thanks for the reminder!
Actually, I tried that and added it into my Login Items. When I did so and logged in, it actually launched dashboard so when my login finished, Dashboard was visible. It did accomplish loading Dashboard but I was hoping for a way to do it without having to tell it to go away each time I login.
    Other thoughts?

  • After Window 10 Upgrade my login Username and password failed

I use Hp Pavilion g6 Notebook PC 32-bit. This morning I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I don't really know if the upgrade was successful completed. At a point a blue screen appeared with a dialog box for me to type in my username and password. When I type in my Username & Password and press enter nothing happens. It will not even tell me whether the Username or password is incorrect. I cannot login into my Laptop again. When I click on Sleep or restart or shutdown, none of these works. I regretted upgrading from windows 7 to windows 10. If I had known I would have remained in Windows 7. At this point now I cannot make use of my Laptop. Please, how do I solve this problem?

I am still waiting for an answer to the problem I complained. I am really regretting upgrading to Windows 10. My major problem now is that I cannot login into my Laptop because the Windows 10 does not recognize my Username & Login password any longer. It does not tell me if the Username & password is right or wrong. If there is anyway I can solve this issue I would be very happy. I use my laptop daily at least 12hrs a day on the internet. Since Friday I am denied internet due to this challenge. This is a very big problem to me.

  • CS2 gives login error message and shuts down automatically

    Hi,
I hope someone can direct me to a quick fix for this because I just shot a wedding and need to be editing ASAP. I turned on PhotoShop CS2 and after loading it gives me the error message saying somehting to the effect of "Your username, login, organization, or serial key is missing or invalid. Photoshop must shut down". My copy is registered, and I have the loging info and serial , but I cannot do anything at all in the program. It doesn't give an option to re-enter my info. It just shuts itself down. I use it all the time and have had it on this computer since 06 so I have no idea why it's doing this now. Any help tonight would be great.
    Thanks in advance.

System specs, please. Is CS2 installed on a 64 bit operating system?

  • Script to query / monitor logins to Servers

Not sure if I'm in the right forum, apologies if I'm not. Not sure where this should go ... anyway, is it possible to query username logins to Windows Server 2008?
    Information needed:
    1) Username
    2) date / time login
    3) date / time logoff
Preferably, a way to query multiple servers at one go into an Excel file or something. And not using some freeware or additional installs.
    Thanks

You'll need to turn on some auditing. This one may help.

The only suggestion I've gotten so far is Slim, which looks nice, but I was wondering if there are any other relatively dependency-free login managers out there?
Also just to make sure, I don't HAVE to use a login manager right? I can just log in vc1 and have startx run automatically after login right? A login manager would be nice though, to have graphical settings selections n stuff as opposed to knowing all the options and doing it textually. That's kind of why I was looking for an alternative to Slim as well, because you simply use different username logins to achieve different options, ie) shut down and stuff.
There is also Enter its in AUR, but it's still very early devolopment. And you need to make the rc-script yourself. But it does work. More simple than SLiM but not faster.

  • MBP hangs after login screen with Circle with line through it

Recently, my MBP (Model A1278, MB990LL/A) started doing the "folder with blinking question mark" at start up as if it couldn't find the startup disk.
I held Option at startup and chose the Macintosh HD that it found.  After selecting, it brings me to my username/login.  I type in the PW and hit enter and the screen turns gray and I see the Apple logo in the middle with spinning gear below it.  (All good so far, as this sequence is the same sequence as my other MBP).  After about 1min of gear spinning though, the Apple logo changes to a Circle with a line through it.  It never logs in and I never see the desktop.
    Troubleshooting I've done:
    1.  Pulled out the HDD, plugged it up to my OTHER MBP and ran Disk Utility on the whole drive.  Found no errors.
    2.  Put the HDD in question in my OTHER MBP and booted into my user account just fine.  All the way to Desktop, no problems.
    3.  Took my WORKING HDD from my OTHER MBP and put it in the MBP in question and tried to boot, did the same thing.  Circle with line after logging in.
    4.  Tried to run Apple Hardware Test from boot cd by holding D but nothing happens.  Just gray screen to infinity.
    5.  Replaced the trackpad from my OTHER MBP just for fun
Any ideas?  I'm usually pretty good at this stuff, but this one has me stumped.
    Thank you!!!

No luck.  I can't do a Safe Reboot, nor can I reset the NVRAM/PRAM.  When I power on either 1 of 2 things happen.  A) Nothing, grey screen until folder with flashing question mark or B) When it decides to, it finds my HDD and goes to login screen but after entering pw and hitting submit, I get the Apple logo for a minute then replaces with a Circle w/ Line.
Can't hold Shift at reboot, can't hold c to boot from DVD (have to hold Option and choose DVD), can't hold D and boot the Apple Hardware Test DVD.
Does anyone know of a way to reset the NVRAM/PRAM manually?  Is there a CMOS battery like on a windows PC or something similar that I can remove to reset?  Command+Option+P+R does not work, it reads that I've pressed Option and gives me the Startup Disk Manager screen to select a drive to boot from.
    Thanks
