Hello,
I am new to this. I am writing a portlet that will display patient-related information for a specific patient. I have a general practitioner user in web space 10 server. This user has access to the portlet. I would like to be able to construct a URL, embed it in a PDF document that the GP gets by email, allow the GP to click the URL and have the portal present user's page with the portlet parameters specified as part of the URL causing the portlet to display information for a particular patient.
What I need to know are:
0. Is this possible?
1. Can a URL be constructed so that it invokes specific user's portal page (I suspect the answer is yes but I need to know what the URL will look like)
2. Can I add query parameters to the URL in 1 so that a portlet can read them and act on them (how would I do this? I am using the JSF portlet bridge functionality since my portlets are of the Visual Web JSF Portlet kind). What Java incantation and XML incantations would I put in the prerender method of my JSF Portlet to get hold of the parameters embedded in the URL?

Handling page level access to users for sub-pages

Hi,
In my webcenter portal application, in navigation , I have mainpage1 and 3 sub-pages under it: subpage1,subpage2 and subpage3. We have a requirement that users with role manager should have access to all sub-pages under mainpage1 and users with role employee should have access to only subpage3.
All these 3 pages are created in Jdeveloper (not at runtime) and have static region for different taskflow on each page. All 3 taskflows have access permission to all authenticated users.
Using WebCenter Portal Administration Console, Resources tab I am setting access levels for user groups with Delegate Security as follows:
mainpage1 -- manager and employee both have view
subpage1 - only manager have view
subpage2 - only manager have view
subpage3 - manager and employee both have view
When I am logging as user with manager role , I am able to see all three pages, but when I am logging as employee the link mainpage1 and all other subpages are hidden.
I am able to set different access permissions for different groups at mainpages but facing issue for sub pages.
Please help me if I am missing anything for setting page level access.

Try to add the users instead of groups and see if you get same page access error?

How to run Import/Export for Portal Page

I have to export the Portal page .What are the steps I have to follow to complete the process ?I'm new to Oracle portal..

Also see if you can get access to configuration guide for your version of portal. There has to be a chapter on how to use Export/Import utilities in Portal
The simplest way to explain the process is
1. Click on Export link next to the object to be exported
2. Give a name for the transport set and export it.
3. Download scripts for migrating the content and run it in export mode to generate the dump file.
4. FTP the script and dump file to target
5. Run the script in import mode to transfer the contents of dump file in target portal. The usage of scripts in export/import mode is given when you run the script without any parameters
6. Go to the Export/Import portlet and select the transport set for import.
7. View the logs to see if the migration has been successful.
8. Go to the navigator and check if the object you migrated has been brought in successfully.

ABAP user for portal

Dear Experts,
We have a BI 7.0 EH1 installation on a single server with 2 separate instances for ABAP and JAVA currently. All configurations are currently okay and we are able to deploy infoproviders, load data and view them on Bex.
Currently, we are unable to utilize ABAP users for any activity on the portal, be it administration or execution of Bex for queries. We are also unable to see the ABAP system in Java currently in the configuration settings. I would like to use the ABAP user for execution of queries. SSO is configured and we do not have any errors while executing the support desk tool.
Kindly provide any solutions pertaining to this issue.

When you install portal or any NW component with ABAP stack , ABAP stack hold precidence over the JAVA Stack , refer to this link to have more idea on this .

Minimum seeded database users for portal

We would like to obtain the usernames of the minimum number of database
users that can be used for the portal to function.
In addition to the portal schema, we will be having a custom
schema in our database. So we would like to determine what
is the minimum number of database users that are needed for the system.
These would be:
1. Seeded users that come with the portal database
(Is there a list of minimum database users that we can obtain from some
documentation that are needed - are all the seeded users absolutely required,
or can some of them be deleted? )
2. The user for the custom schema. (this would be the only additional
user to the seeded users provided).

I think you need com.sp.portal.appintegrator.sap.bwcapi.jar.
In Portal
Goto System Administration-Support-
portal Runtime -Browse Deployment-:ROOT/WEB-INF/portal/portalapps/com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.bwc/lib
There you will get com.sp.portal.appintegrator.sap.bwcapi.jar.

Apache log analysis for portal page visits etc

We are about to go into production with Oracle Portal (9iAS rel 9.0.2.0.1).
I have been looking into how to gather statistics on web site usage and have concluded that I cannot get the information from within portal logs since many pages are served from the cache and there is no interaction with the database at all.
I think I need to, therefore, analyse the apache log files. Can anyone recommend a good 3rd party product for log analysis? I am also concerned that the portal specific urls might severely limit the usefullness of the data I can extract.
Has anyone used a log analysis tool in conjunction with Portal or knows of a product with a specific add-on for Oracle Portal (I have seen these for other portals and CMS products).
Any pointers appreciated, I am completely new to this area.

You might want to look at the "ClickStream Collector" that is included in a 9iAS installation.
I'm not sure if it will do what you want with Portal, but it's starting point.

Stop user accessing portal pages from book marks(favourites)

Hi,
Scenario... a user can log into portal and set pages as book marks in their browser (favourites), then close the ssession(and browser); then reopen the browser and access the page from the book mark, portal forces the user to log in (which is good) but I don't want them to have access to the page book marked, I want them to be always sent to the main page instead.
Is it possible to stop this happening.

Bulk load of users for Portal

We have an Oracle database which we use a third party payroll application on. This database contains employee info and looks to be the perfect for getting the details to create portal sign ons. We are running Portal 9.0.2.3 on AIX 5.1 and I would like to know - how do I do a bulkload into OID so that all our employees can have a sign on to our company Portal. I have seen the ldif file - but I cannot see how I can create one from raw data in a table.
Has anyone overcome this before??

You should look at the Oracle Internet Directory (OID) Administrator's manual - which has a whole Part dedicated to discussing the Oracle Directory Integration Platform.
What you are looking for is very similar to the connector for Oracle HR, which is discussed in Chapter 33.
However, it will not be the same, so some slight modifications will be necessary. You will basically devise your own connector. Please read this section and it should provide the info you need to accomplish it.
Oracle does this internally as well. There is a synchronization service that runs against a database-based "Profile" system that is used for Oracle Technology Network (OTN) accounts, and automatically provisions user accounts on my.oracle.com, using this Oracle Directory Integration Platform.
If you need specific help after reading up on the referenced information, you may want to post your questions to the OID forum.

Default Page Template for Portal Page Group

Release 2 of Portal (9.0.2.2.22)
Created a page group and several templates.
Edit Page Group Properties, Configure, locate the Default Page Template drop list.
The drop list has only the templates from the shared object page group.
The online help states

Choose the page template to apply to new pages in this page group if the page designer does not explicitly choose one.
Note: This list includes all the page templates in this page group and the shared objects page group.

I have several templates in this page group. Why don't they show in this drop list?

You have to make the templates public. Edit the template properties - on the Main tab click "Make Public".

Gateway for accessing Portal pages from PDA

Hi All,
I am working on Oracle portal and want to use the oracle 10g wireless feature for portal pages.
As per the directions I have enabled the mobile access for my portal as could see the content from the built in PDA simulator.
Now, I would like to view the content from the actual mobile device (PDA).
After aquring the device, I think I need to get the Gateway provider.
I am completely blank on how to get the Gateway Provider etc.
I would request you all to help on this. How to go for getting Gateway Provider and how I could view the content from actual mobile device

How to set up reverse proxy to allow user access portal site from internet

Hi all,
I have installed 10g(10.1.2.0.2) AS on same machine(single IP for both mid and infra with different users respectively). there is a DMZ on which windows IIS is working through which we need to redirect the request to application server such that users access portal page from internet (within intranet all URLs are working fine). I have went through technet documentation where i found 3 ways : through this link

If you dont want the parameter reflected in the URL, you will need to create a search options set and use it in the seach iview that should be used for portal page search.
So in the entry "Predefined Properties" of the search options set, you will need to enter "resourcetype(value=http://sap.com/xmlns/pcd/app/page/default)" if you want the search to be limited to resources defined as pages. Leave out /default if you dont want the end user to be able to change the filter.
