Using a blog ping service

I have been using iWeb to manage my blog and have a quick question. Google Blog Search looks at blog updating services (such as weblogs.com) to index blog pages (http://www.google.com/help/about_blogsearch.html#getlisted). Looking at weblogs.com they have an API to ping the service when the blog is updated (http://www.weblogs.com/api.html). It would seem that an AppleScript or something could be used to ping weblogs.com that the blog has been updated which then in turn would get google to include my site in their blog search. Has anyone thought about writing such an AppleScript? Is there an easier way to accomplish this?
Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Todd

The weblogs.com ping service is a free service, but it does not do what I think you are asking. This site allows you to "ping" it when your blog is updated. So, for example, when you add a new entry to your blog, you would ping weblogs.com so that other people could easily know that your blog was updated. Sites like Google Blogs use this to search the blogs for inclusion in their search index.
So, this is not a page that you use to actually add blog entries and it can not add blog entries to your iWeb Blog.

  • How to enable ping service on java-stack only system

    I have installed SAP NetWeaver 7.0 - Java Trial on local host.
    How can you activate the ping service there?
    It should work under "http://localhost:50000/sap/bc/ping"
    (I know how to activate it with transaction SICF in an abap system, but I have java-stack only here, so I can't call transactions. I can only use the Visual Admin, right?, but there I could not detect a ping service so far)
    More detailed:
    I created system "SAP_WebDynpro_XSS". (this is necessary for connecting to ECC abap backend for ESS Packages) and set following parameter:
    template:"SAP system using connection string"
         category: Web Application Server
              Web AS host name: chrisSAP:50000
              Web AS path: /webdynpro/dispatcher/
              Web AS protocol: http
    But when I test the "SAP Web AS Connection" for this system, I got following error:
    7. The Web AS ping service http://chrisSAP:50000/sap/bc/ping was not pinged successfully. If the ping service is not activated on the Web AS, you can try to call the ping service manually.
    8. An HTTP/S connection to http://chrisSAP:50000/webdynpro/dispatcher/ was not
    obtained successfully; this might be due to a closed port on the Firewall.
    I guess step 8 did not pass because step 7 failed, and not because of a closed port or firewall (I made sure everything is open.)
    The strange thing is that the connection test fails, but the connection seems to work fine!
    I mean I can see the front ESS page in the portal when logging in with an ESS-user, and there are no errors in the log. If I change the SAP_WebDynpro_XSS parameters to some other made-up values, then the front ESS page does not come up and some errors appear with "SAP_WebDynpro_XSS" inside.
    That proofs that the connection is working despite the failed connection test, right?. But what can I do that the connection test passes? It seems that somehow SAP has hardcoded the path "/sap/bc/ping" which usually exists on an abap system. But I have java-stack only, so how can I tell that the function that runs the test?
    A system connection test fails, but the connection is working fine!
    If someone could explain that to me...

    Dear Srini Nookala,
    thank you for your answer. Unfortunately I don't understand the relation of my question to your answer.
    >> check with OSS note 1019335 SAP NetWeaver AS Java 6.40 SP21
    I have Version 7.0 SP14. I read the OSS note, but there are around 100 changes listed. I read them all, but couldn't figure out one that has to do with ping and system test. So which sentence inside the note are you referring to?
    >> The problem is due to JCo parameters configuration not properly, Ask Basis team, they will do it.
    I am basis team. I configured the JCo properly as described in manual and tested them afterwards. They run successful. Also all the links that you gave refer to JCO connections about how to set them up and test them. But what have JCO connections to do with System-connection tests? As far as I know JCO-connections are not used for system connectivity tests. You can set them up independent. I understand that JCO-connections are used for getting data from backend servers. But the system "SAP_WebDynpro_XSS" is defined for determing the webdynpros on localhost (frontend, not backend).
    So please can you explain me what JCO-connections which refer to remote hosts have to do with a ping service on local host that cannot be reached? And which part would be not configured "properly"? Timeouts? user?
    To define my question more properly:
    Is it possible to make the connection test work on a java-stack only host for a system that refers to itself (localhost)? Or is it a known bug?
    Some sub-questions
    Am I using the right system template (I am using "SAP system using dedicated application server")
    I have no abap on local host (chrisSAP). Only java stack. Usually path ..sap/bc/ping refers to an abap system, right? So in my opinion I have 3 possibilities:
    - install abap-stack on local host (portal) and activate ping service.
    - somehow install a ping service that runs under the given URL in Visual Admin (how?)
    - somehow tell the connection test to skip pinging and continue test. (How?)
    Any additional advice would be highly appreciated.

    I'm trying to create a lead in the siebel OD (hosted) with a oracle BPEL process and using the siebel web service (2.0). In my bpel process I've been able to
    1. Login to OD and get a session id

    3. Assign the session id to the partner link
    4. Assign the inputs (lastname, firstname, leadowner, viewMode=Personal, lovLanguageMode=LDC) to lead
    5. Call the leadInsert operation on the partner link

    Hi,
    We are also using BPEL to send data out to SIEBEL CRMOD.
    I've created a proxy that deals with authentication and session management.
    All you have to do is to deploy the proxy as a war file and refrence it as the end-point of your partner link.

  • How to develop Ping Service in Oracle Service Bus

    Hi all,
    I want to develop a ping service in OSB which will ping all the End-point URLs and Databases ( i.e It will do the health check of the end point URLs ) .
    when it is found any End Point URL is not reachable it should shutdown all the Osb Projects(or Proxy's) which is using the End-point URL and when ever the
    End-point URL is up it should Bring the Osb Project( or proxy) up to get the requests .
    I want to implement this for Asynchronous services or JMS services.
    Can we shutdown any Proxy or OSB project like BPEL process ??
    Thanks
    Phani

    I want to implement this for Asynchronous services or JMS services. For jms transport, instead of disabling the proxy you can make a java callout to pause the queue for consumption. This should a very small piece of java code using jmx api to pause the consumption.. So instead of designing a 'ping' service, what you can do is when an error occurs on the route node, do the following in the route error handler -
    - Configure an 'alert' action to notify to the support about the issue, This could be done in different ways depending on how your osb is integrated to the problem management system.
    - Pause the queue for consumption using the java callout.
    Support can manually come and resume the consumption on the queue after the issue is fixed.

    No, you do not need to install Office on the SharePoint server to utilize the Excel Services. Office should not be installed on the SharePoint server.
    Do they need Office Web Apps? Are they looking to have the capability to edit documents in the browser maybe? Or have document preview on search? Office Web Apps would be required for this, but this is a different product than Office.

  • Using BroadcastSystemMessage to ping another application

    I have a server application from a vendor that provides various services I need to use.  The vendor also provided a sample client application written in Borland C++ Builder.  I'm trying to implement the same message passing scheme they use in their client ina CVI program, but I can't get past the first step.
    The Borland app first uses BroadcastSystemMessage to ping their server application.  Then it waits for a response from the server in the form of a WM_COPYDATA windows message.  The original Borland code for pinging the server looks something like this:
       UINT ping_id = RegisterWindowMessage("client_ping");
       DWORD dwApps = BSM_APPLICATIONS;
       BroadcastSystemMessage( BSF_NOHANG, &dwApps, ping_id, (WPARAM) m_client_handle, 0 );
    The m_client_handle is the windows handle of the client application.  The server uses that handle to send it's reponse directly back to the client. My CVI implementation of the ping looks like this:
        GetPanelAttribute (panelHandle, ATTR_SYSTEM_WINDOW_HANDLE, (int *)&ClientWindowHandle);
        int PingId = RegisterWindowMessage("client_ping");
        DWORD dwApps = BSM_APPLICATIONS;
        int err = BroadcastSystemMessage(BSF_NOHANG, &dwApps, PingId, (WPARAM) ClientWindowHandle, 0);
    BroadcastSystemMessage returns a 1 indicating that everything worked fine.
    The next half of the ping is to catch the return message from the server.  The Borland app does this by implementing the call OnCopyData for it's main form.  As best as I can determine, this is essentially a predefined message handler for WM_COPYDATA.  I implemented this in CVI with the following code:
    int main (int argc, char *argv[])
        // this is really the same call as before (i.e., I only get the handle once)
        GetPanelAttribute (panelHandle, ATTR_SYSTEM_WINDOW_HANDLE, (int *)&ClientWindowHandle);
        InstallWinMsgCallback (panelHandle, WM_COPYDATA, ProcessWmCopydataMessage, VAL_MODE_INTERCEPT, &panelHandle, &ClientWindowHandle);
    int CVICALLBACK ProcessWmCopydataMessage (int panelHandle, int message, unsigned int* wParam, unsigned int* lParam, void* callbackData)
        PCOPYDATASTRUCT ServerInfo;
        if (message == WM_COPYDATA)
            // process returned message
    The problem is that I never get a call to PrcoessWmCopydataMessage.  Am I doing something wrong in my setup?  In particular, am I retrieving the correct handle for my application and am I sending it correctly in the broadcast message?  Is there any spy tool that allows you to watch all windows messages and reponses so I can determine if the server is doing anything?
    I tired writing my own dummy server just to verify that BroadcastSystemMessage works the way I expect.  The only problem is that I can't figure out how to catch the broadcast message in my dummy server app.  How do I install a callback that will catch broadcast messages?
    One last thing: at first I couldn't get BroadcastServerMessage to compile.  It said it was not declared.  After a quick search on the forum, I added the following line before my inclusion of the windows header:
        #define _WIN32_WINDOWS 0x0410
    It compiles now, but I'm concerned that by faking my Windows version I may have messed up something else.  I running Windows 7 BTW.
    Tony G.

    Hey Tony -
    The reason you get the compile error is because CVI does not define _WIN32_WINNT in the version of CVI you are using.  We expect the programmer to define it based on their own needs.  BroadcastSystemMessage is conditionally compiled so that it will not be defined if _WIN32_WINNT is not defined:
    WinUser.h
    #if defined(_WIN32_WINNT)
    WINUSERAPI
    long
    WINAPI
    BroadcastSystemMessageA(
    The consequence of defining it to be 0x0410 is that you are stating your program is compatible with version NT 4.0 of Windows and later.  This means that you can use all functionality of the Windows OS that was available in Windows NT 4.0, but none of the newer functionality will be available to you.  If you try to run your program on a version of Windows older than Windows NT 4.0, the program will likely not run (this should not be an issue...)
    Note that 0x0410 is not actually a defined Windows version.  From a recent version of the Interface to the Win32 API, you can read from sdkddkver.h:
    #define _WIN32_WINNT_NT4     0x0400
    #define _WIN32_WINNT_WIN2K   0x0500
    This means that you are stating your program uses no Windows fuctionality more recent than Windows NT 4.0.  Here's some more good information on using these macros.

  • Using an external web service  and local element declarations

    I am attempting to use (call) an external web service from workshop
    8.1. It seems that if the web service's schema contains local element
    declarations with the same name then workshop will generate incorrect
    JCX code because it doesn't scope the generated classes.
    I think the following simple example will do a better job explaining
    than that last paragraph ;). In the following WSDL, the element
    "testLocalDec" is used inside two different element types. In XML
    Schema this is not a problem because each one is "scoped" by the
    element types its included in. However, the generated JCX (listed
    second) simply contains the testLocalDec structure twice which causes
    problems in Java.
    Is there some workaround for this? Note that making this element
    declaration in the WSDL will not work because they are different
    structures (with different names).
    Also see my next email around using XMLBeans with external services
    (since that could be a workaround if I knew how to do it).
    thanks,
    dave

    Hi David,

    (since that could be a workaround if I knew how to do it).
    thanks,

  • Using WebCenter Spaces Web Service API through JDeveloper's Data Control

    Hi,
    I'm trying to access WebCenter Spaces Web Service API (located at http://host:port/webcenter/SpacesWebService)
    using JDeveloper's Web Center Data Control.
    I created a data control in my portal project using JDeveloper's Web Service Data Control wizard.
    I also created and configured key stores (jps-config.xml) at both sides (spaces server and my portal client).
    How I created a data control:
    * First I entered the name and the URL (http://host:port/webcenter/SpacesWebService?WSDL)
    * Then I entered HTTP basic authentication details (user name and password)
    * After that I drag-and-drop the getGroupSpaces() method from the data control to a .jspx page as a ADF read-only table.
    * Then ran my portal project and navigated to this .jspx page and it worked. List of group spaces appeared well on that page.
    The problem is that I got only public group spaces and group spaces created by the user I entered on HTTP basic authentication details.
    I makes no sense to enter some static user details in a web service client (or a data control).
    So the question is; can I use identity propagation to get only group spaces created by the same user which I logged in my portal?

    Hi,
    You generally get NameError when you are executing the createCred/updateCred from a incorrect location. Are you using the wlst from oracle_common\common\bin?
    Also, In your steps I don't see what you did to populate the walllet at JDeveloper end after your updateCred failed. This is a required step. Use the wlst from the location emntioned above and you should be able to proceed.
    Thanks,

  • Use two different printer services in one web template?

    Hi!
    Is it possible to use two different help services for printing in the same web template (for the same table item)?
    Print1:
    <param name="HELP_SERVICE" value="HELP_SERVICE_PRINT"/>
    <param name="HELP_SERVICE_CLASS" value="ZCL_RSR_XLS_HELP_WINDOW_PRINT"/>
    Print 2:
    <param name="HELP_SERVICE" value="ZPRINTING"/>
    <param name="HELP_SERVICE_CLASS" value="ZBW_PRINT_HELP_SERVICE"/>
    I was thinking that you maybe could change the param name values for the "Help_service" and the "help_service_class" at runtime using the properties for the table item, so that you could choose which one to use, but I havne't been able to do that so far.
    Does anyone have an idea?

    This is not a problem. Just put the print service for the print to excel on an object other than the table web item. As long as these print services exist on any web item, you should be able to invoke them. I've tested this with putting the "Print with Excel" service on the Navigation Block Web Item and the other print service on the table web item. Hope that helps!

  • How can I using tpcall from one service to another service in the same server

    ok. However,
    when I using tpcall from one service to another service, it's failed?
    anybody can tell me why?Basically, tpcall:ing another service in the same server is a no-no, unless you
    a) are running a multi-threaded server (requires TUXEDO 7 or newer + compilation
    options) or
    b) use tpacall() instead of tpcall() and specify the flag TPNOREPLY. This is probably
    not what you want to accomplish, though.
    The reason is that TUXEDO servers by default (and always in versions before 7)
    are single-threaded. If service A and B both reside in server X, server X will
    be busy taking care of the call to A. If A makes a call to B, the call will be
    put on the queue to X, but X will not look at the queue until it is done with
    A, which won't happen until B returns... deadlock!
    You can play tricks with starting multiple instances of X, but in the end you
    will always face a risk (something lika a race-condition) for a dead-lock.
    Solution: Move service B to another server (usually quite easy) OR switch to multi-threading,
    if that's possible. Just make sure all code your service calls is MT-safe as well...
    thanks

  • How do I set the "reply to" field in the iPad 2 Mail app?  I use an email forwarding service (not an actual email account) that I would like people to reply to.

    How do I set the "reply to" field in the iPad 2 Mail app?  I use an email forwarding service (not an actual email account) that I would like people to reply to, so setting up an account with the correct reply-to address doesn't work because there's no associated outgoing mail server.  I had this working under iOS4 but it seems to have disappeared when I upgraded to iOS5.

    Welcome to the forum, NicoleYM. I don't think the Touch Mail has as many options as the Mac Mail app. However, you could set a standard signature. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Signature. There you can type a reply address and hope people see it.
    Alternatively, you can go to your GMail account in your web browser and click on Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP. There you will have an option to forward all emails (or only some, if you set up a filter) to your other address.
    Good luck!

  • OSB example calling multiple business services using a single proxy service???

    Hi,
    I have three business services created using http urls i.e.
    1. LoginBS
    2. GetListBS
    3. LogoutBS
    My requirement is to get a list of names from GetListBS using a single proxy service and to call GetListBS I have to first call LoginBS then GetListBS i.e. after authentication and then finally logout.
    Kindly help with a detailed example for this and I am new to OSB.
    Thanks,
    Vik

    Hi Eric,
    Thanks for the response. We figured that it is possible to call multiple services with Split Join. However, we ran into the issue you described. We had a blocking call and had to wait until each of the services returned a response.
    However, we needed a Async model for our design and felt that this might not be a right fit.
    We are now looking at implementing the publish option with QoS configured as this fits our usecase better. Thanks for the help again.

  • I have created a family recipe book in iBooks - can I print it using iPhoto's print service?

    I have created a family recipe book in iBooks - can I print it using iPhoto's print service? I don't want to print it on our home printer - I want to print multiple copies for family members through the Apple iPhoto book printing service.  Can anyone help me please?

    There is no Apple print service for iBooks, and iPhoto can also only print photo books created in iPhoto.
    Print your iBook to pdf. Then you have several option:
    Save the pdf to a thumbsdrive/stick  and take it to the nearest print shop close to your home.
    Search online for "self publishing" services available in your country.
    Recreate your book as an iPhoto Book. This will be a lot of work, since iPhoto's templates are more suitable for Picture books than books with lots of formatted text. To speed things up, you could use "Preview" to export the pages of your book as jpegs (high quality, at least 300 dpi) and add themas full-page photos to a new PhotoBook. This can be sent to apple for printing.
    But the first two options would be much less trouble and probably be less expensive.
