Using an 8.0 client with a 6.5 server

We currently have an application running on AIX and Tuxedo Client 6.5, that connects
to a 6.5 server.
We are thinking on migrating the application to Linux, and found that Linux is
only supported for Tuxedo 7.1 and higher.
Would there be any problem if we used the 8.0 client instead of the 6.5 client
to connect to the same 6.5 server?
If that was possible, then we would be able to migrate the application to Linux.
Thanks for your help,
Debora

I think you might face problem if the client is native
because client will be built with shared library
libtux.sl which will give you an unresolved symbol
error.
but if you have clients which come in as workstation client
then you should be able to connecct properly.
use WSL with -t option in that case or export an environment
variable WSOFPRE71(confirm the spelling) to yes.
thanks

RZ70 automatically creates and uses an RFC to the SLD - assuming this RFC can communicate over your network

  • Get option back - "I want to use a work email account with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server"

    Hello,
I have a Virgin Mobile USA blackberry.  When I go into the Setup Wizard - Email setup the only option I get is "I want to create or add and email address".
How do I get the other option that says "I want to use a work email account with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server" back?  This option was there before I activated the phone but is gone now.  No email accounts have been setup yet.
I am trying to use this phone with a work account.  I have my Enterpise Activation Password but I have no place to enter it.
    Thanks

Given this, I suspect actually that your account, from your carrier, does not include BES. If the above mentioned item is not in your menus, then that would likely confirm this. I suggest you contact your carrier to ensure you have a BES-level account from them.

Hello everyone, I am using blackberry 9300 curve 3G. is it possible to use blackberry builtin email client through wifi without having the Blackberry services (BIS or BES)? i want to use my official email id (POP3 and smtp) on it. if possible please share the method..
    Thanks in advance

Not that I know of.  You have to have a blackberry data plan in order to use the built in email.  After that, you can use WiFi only.

  • 10.6.1 clients with  10.5.8 server -- slow connections/lost delegate

Because of timing, I've yet to upgrade my 10.5.8 server to 10.6.1 server.
However, we've updated a number of clients here to 10.6.1
For many clients, they are finding that iCal is occasionally dumping their delegates.
They can readd them, but after a couple of more days, the delegates will get dumped again. It seems like if I add specific calendars to my list of delegates it's more obvious (so I don't necessarily know if the problem is with clients with really large calendars...)
I've filed bugs on this with Apple, but I'm wondering if anybody else has seen this and come up with a solution yet.
(I have plans to update my server in the next few weeks -- if somebody has seen this problem and has resolved it after they updated their server, let me know that as maybe I can accelerate my timetable for this upgrade....)
    Thanks!

I just purchased a new macbook pro 13" w/Snow Leopard pre-installed and I am experiencing the exact same issue. I purchased a regular macbook for my wife (at the same time, about a week ago), and I was able to set up her e-mail account without any problems (same e-mail hosting provider as mine).
My e-mail account/settings work fine on my iPhone, as well as another Windows computer (yes, I have tried deleting com.apple.mail.plist and starting over).
***? I paid a premium for the macbook pro, assumably for better construction, performance, and ease of use. I did not expect to pay to be a beta tester.

  • Problem synchronizing windows clients with solaris 10 NTP server

    Hello everyone,
I realyy need help on the following:
I tried to synchronize windows 2003 as client with NTP server running in Solaris 10
My Time Zone in the NTP server is GMT+3, and in my windows is also set to GMT+3
When I start NTP server and clients , I got 6 hours delay between the clients and the server
I tried to synchronize the Solaris server with another solaris system, the synchronization is working fine
    Your help
    Regards
    Hakim Fourar

True (but only for later releases). But since he mentioned getting a 6 hour offset after starting them, that makes me think that the systems are communicating, and that the time zones are incorrect.
This is easily verified by using 'ntpq -p' and 'date ; date -u'. The first will show if the client thinks it is synchronized to a server (and what the UTC offset is in miliseconds). The second will show the date in the default timezone and in UTC.
If you're not using POSIX, you'd think that GMT+XX meant east of UTC, but for POSIX, it means west of UTC.

  • BO XI 3.1 Desktop client with XI 2 app server

We're planning to implement XI 3.1 Desktop Intelligence to a set of users.  However, we realize some of them are already using XI 2.0 client to access another application that is supported out of another IT area.
We'd like to know if we upgrade their client to XI 3.1 from XI 2.0, will they still be able to access their reports sitting in the XI 2.0 platform?
    Thanks,
    Bonnie

my question will be if the users have XI 3.1 on their machine, can they access reports that're on a XI 2 repository? Our situation will be we will have a set of XI 2 reports running on that other IT department's machines, while we will have our Xi 3.1 reports on our servers.  Can 1 user, through the XI 3.1 client on their desktop, access both applications?

  • Using PPC iBook as Client with OS X Snow Leopard Server

Hey, I am interested in purchasing a mac mini server edition as a home server for all of my family, and in addition to several intel macbook pros, we have a couple of Power PC macs.
Is it possible to use the power pc macs (all running 10.5 leopard) as clients for the server? I want to be able to make them sync home folders with a user on the server.

When you set up your Mini server, in Server Admin you go to the Open Directory service and then you can use the wizard to create an Open Directory Master (ODM). Once you have that setup you can then bind your clients using Directory Access in the Utilities folder (up to 10.5) 10.6 is located in /System/Library/CoreServices/ or through the Accounts pane in System Prefs under Login Options. You can then use that utility to "bind" to the ODM using the IP address of the ODM or the DNS name. If you are setting up a fake home network, you should setup DNS first on the Mini so you have a FQDN to resolve to for your clients. Then you can create users and groups in Workgroup Manager and assign the accounts to be Mobile users and have their settings sync'd to the servers home directory folders for your users. You will need to create a share on the server and then enable as a Share Point is Server Admin and then set it to Enable Automount. Then under the home directory tab in WGM you can set the user home dirs to be in the share you created.
    So steps:
    Update Server for all updates
    Set up DNS
    Create ODM
    Create Share, set as automount
Create users in WGM, point to share for home dir
    -Add users to group
-Set up Preferences for group and enable Mobile for sync services.
    Bind clients to ODM
Login using mobile or network accounts, sync files and folders based on your prefs.
    Hope this helps,

The rule to work from is that the client just can't be much newer than
the server. It is common for places to have at least a few clients a bit
older than the server, even with all the auto update options we have. I
have a client running that way that aren't bothering to update the client
as we are on the cusp of upgrading to GW 2012 and will get to the clients
    then.

  • 10.10 Clients with 10.6.8 Server?

I am wondering if any of you can share your experience with running 10.10 clients on a 10.6.8 server.  We are currently running 10.9.4 clients using mobile accounts (no syncing) and our experience has been quite good.  We are also using WGM for preferences, also acceptably working.  I would like to squeeze one more year out of the servers (16 total)  before looking into replacements.

This is a known bug of ML. The operating system is not compatible with AFP home directories. You will notice that FaceTime won't work either. In addition, there are sandbox problems, preferences problems and performance issues.
In my experience, the only possible workaround is to convert all forks and Extended Attributes in the home directories to AppleDouble files and then switch from AFP to NFS. This can result in Spotlight issues, but otherwise, all applications will work fine and much faster.

  • 10.5.1 Client with 10.4.11 Server problems

I recently updated two clients to 10.5.1 - 1 imac G5 and 1 macbook. I can login to the network home directory fine on the imac, but not the macbook. When connecting via airport, the macbook just hangs at the login. The macbook does work when connected via ethernet. This was not the case with 10.4.11 on the client? Network accounts are available when connecting via airport, but I cannot get it to work? PLease advise.

I got Server Monitor 1.6 to work with the new Intel Xserve from a client G4 and an Intel iMac. Previously, Server Monitor gave the cannot connect message. I had tried all sorts of things like copying Server Monitor 1.6 from the server to a local computer -- it didn't work for me.
I recently installed the latest model Xserve which is an Intel processor. Luckily, I had configured Lights Out Management which is a different IP address from the Xserve.
I added the IP address of the Lights Out Management to Server Monitor and it worked. I was able to see the details of the Xserve such as, temperature, blower speeds, and so on. I could only access the Xserve if I used the Xserve's short administrator name, not the long one. The long name doesn't work but that might be due to my set-up.

  • Help Setting Up Windows PDC & Clients with 10.4.6 Server

Ok, here's what we have: A 10.4.6 Server set up as an OD master. Windows Services are running.
The majority of the clients are Macs, which authenticate flawlessly. What we want to do is allow the same people that use the Macs to be able to authenticate with the same account on any PC in a lab and get to their documents folder in their user home directory easily (mapped to My Documents).
We have been able to set the PCs up to the right domain, and successfully logged into them using the same accounts that the Macs use, but it's a bit squirelly. Only certain things will "save" when going back and forth between different PCs. Sometimes the background will save, sometimes it won't. Outlook Express accounts will only save on the local machine, so if they move to another PC, their OE account will not be there. Their homepage in IE will save pretty consistantly, but other setting will not. Also, we are getting this "desktop.ini" file showing up everywhere. It shows up in the start menu, in their favorites list, and in the startup items folder so it launches when they log in.
So is there a way to better "synch" the user's accounts when going back and forth between different PCs? Also, is there a way to map the My Documents folder to their Documents folder on the server? Sorry if this is confusing, but I can try to clarify if it's not clear...Thanks!

    Hi there,
We do this in our place without any problems.
You say some stuff 'saves' and other stuff doesn't.
Can you be more specific ?
I take it that the permissions are correct on both the Users home directory AND the Profiles/UserName folders ?
As for that Pesky Desktop.ini file, took me a month to sort it out. There is a MSKB article on it, basically saying to delete it where it exists in 'All Users' profile on the local machines. This wasn't our problem. The file should be removed from the local users profile (there were 3 copies of it IIRC, one in Startup Item, one in Start Menu, and one in Start Menu/Program files.) Delete them all !
I think the root of the problem is the file should be hidden and windows gets upset if it's not.
Did you migrate the windows users profiles from a local profile perhaps ?

I currently am using Visibroker for C++ 4.0 on an HP-UX box and the standard Java 1.3 on clients. I have successfully communicated using the IOR from the server, but also have not been able to directly connect clients to the Visibroker NameService. So as far as the connection between the Java ORB and (I would think) any other vendor's ORB, it should work if they have the same CORBA compliance.
Though I can make a workaround for this it would be really great if I could just utilize what we have already purchased (the Visibroker NameService). Any thoughts about how to do this?

    Hi,
We have OCS 2007 R2 Edge server for external & OCS 2007 R2 FE Server for internal access in our environment.
We able to access internally Lync2013 clients with OCS 2007R2 server, however from external we cannot access Lync2013 client with OCS2007 R2 server.
Is there any patch or registry key trick to access OCS from lync2013 client externally? We cannot immediately migrate to Lync2013 server from OCS.

    Hi,
I suggest you still use OCS 2007 R2 client to login OCS 2007 R2 Server untill finishing migration to Lync Server 2013, as using Lync client with OCS 2007 R2 Server will offer a pretty limited experience.
Here is a great blog about Lync 2010 Client unsupported with OCS, it is for Lync 2010 client but similar for Lync 2013 client:
