Using Cache

Hi,
I have a question on how to use caching/retrieve cached objects thru java programs. Right now in my descriptor,
I'm using "oracle.toplink.internal.identitymaps.SoftCacheWeakIdentityMap". How does it offer caching? Is this the best option? Please show me how can I retrieve cached objects programmatically. Also point me to appropriate location of Toplink documentation and examples. I need to know about this caching thoroughly. Any help to resolve these issues is greatly appreciated.
Thanks..

Check the index of the TopLink Java Foundation Library Guide. The trick is that 'cache' is more of a marketing term and you'll find more info by looking for "Identity Map".

  • How to use caching in flex

    Hi
i'm new to flex.I want to use caching in the flex application but i couldnt find any details regrading that.In my application will be getting values from a xml feed but on holidays there wont be any change in the values so instead of ping the server i would rather cache it and then display the values. Can u help me on this??
    Thanks,
    Magesh

    Hi Magesh,
You can use shared objects (flash cookies) to save persistent data on a user's computer. This local storage is not garanted! The user can disable it and can also limit the amount of data that can be stored.
I think you still need to query the server to check if the data has been updated. If so the app can receive remote updated data otherwise it can use local data.

  • Exclaimer manager signature does not update sent items for outlook 2013 clients when using cached mode

    Hi
I have Signature Manager Exchange Edition 2.0.3.0 installed on the hub servers.
I have enabled  Sent Items update.
some clients are not getting signature update in the sent items of outlook while using cached mode.
from OWA, and MS Outlook when connected online, the signature is updated in the sent items.
I have two CAS servers and two mailbox servers. all with Exchange 2013 SP1
I tested each CAS server for the URLs of Autodiscover and EWS, with no errors or warnings.
    I also test Autodiscover through
    https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com . I go successful result.
Outlook clients are updated to the latest version 15.0.4701.1000
for outlook clients; I deleted outlook profile, deleted outlook folder in the user profile, re-created the  outlook profile, with no luck.
from Exclaimer event logs on the Hub servers. the sent items update is successfully updating clients. below is the screenshot of an event for one email message which is successfully updated from exclaimer but it did not update on the client outlook while
    using cached mode.
Since the issue is with multiple users, I am searching for a centralized solution

Employees can see their email signatures and disclaimers
With Exchange 2013, a Microsoft Outlook user can’t see any added email signatures or disclaimers as they are added to an email when it passes through the Exchange server.
Signature Manager Exchange Edition lets email users see their email signature and corporate disclaimer within the Sent Items of their inbox, giving them visual confirmation of the processed email

Updating to the latest version of signature manager exchange edition will help you to resolve this problem for sure

I'm pretty much sure that this problem is related with some version mismatch on their s/w on exchange 2013 which is causing this issue.

  • Use cached exchange mode for new and existing outlook profiles

Hi, I've noticed a difference in the behavior of this setting in Outlook 2010 vs 2013
In 2010, when the gpo is set, everything is greyed out for the user, but in 2013, the user can change the setting. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this something that MS decided to change or a bug?
I'll attach screenshots of the settings and the end result later.
    joeblow

    Hi,
    à
In 2010, when the gpo is set, everything is greyed out for the user, but in 2013, the user can change the setting.
Based on your description, I understand that “Use Cached Exchange Mode” will gray out in Outlook 2010 when
set "Use Cached Exchange Mode for new and existing Outlook profiles".
However, in Outlook 2013, you will still be able to check “Use Cached Exchange Mode”. If anything I misunderstand, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
Just my guess, Office 2013 Administrative Templates may be a little difference with Office 2010 Administrative
Templates. On current situation, I suggest that you would post the question in
Office Forum. I believe we will get a better assistance there.
    Hope this helps.

  • Outlook 2010 -Mailbox Cleanup wizard does not start when using cached mode

We are using Outlook 2010 with Exchange 2003 server.
Currently all users are using online mode, but for some problem, I need to persuade the users to change to use cached mode.
Recently we find that when user
mailbox reaches its size limit and try to send an email message in Outlook 2010 that is in cached mode, the email message stays in the
Outbox and the Mailbox Cleanup wizard does not start. It just prompts
for "send and receive error". As most of the user would not look for what the error is referring and just call IT to fix. Even worst is, they didn't realize that the mail is still in outbox.
I find the KB2544027 describing this issue but was not available and suggest to install 2596485.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2544027/en-us
I've try to install the hotfix and install Office 2010 SP2 but just doesn't work.
Does anyone know how can I fix it?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Based on my research from the internal resource, this issue has been fixed in build 14.0.6126.5000 or less. I suppose that the hotfix not available because it has been involved in the release.
I’d like to confirm your Office 2010 build number so that we can conduct a deeper analysis on this issue.
In addition, make sure you have installed the latest update for Office 2010.

  • Row-wise Initialization: Use caching

We have the 'Use Caching' check box available for row-wise initialized system variables. Although I do understand how this is useful as it shortens the login time for users who have logged in before by initializing the session variable from the cache instead of firing the query on the database everytime, I need to understand how this cache mechanism works especially when the overall server caching is disabled.
I have faced a situation where the session variable was initialized from the cache although the server caching was disabled. Is there any way to purge this cache or set a refresh frequency? As of now I had to uncheck the 'Use Caching' check box to fetch the refreshed results in the session variable. But I believe this is undesirable in the long term.
    Thanks,
    Gaurav

Had thought so. But then it means that you can use row-wise initialization with caching, only when the underlying data is never going to change. Restarting the BI server is not a viable option to clear the cache in systems which require 100% availability.
But any ways, thanks for the input Dhar.

  • Should we Use cache seeding iBots to pre-cache the reports ?

    Hi Everyone,
We have requirement from client to improve the performance of some reports. We have a very old RPD and it is really huge so we don't want to do much on database side for performance tuning.
Will it be a good idea to use cache seeding iBots to pre-cache the reports ?
Most of the reports which are having performance issue are having some 5-6 columns and one key column is having some 30+ choices in column selector. So for each column selector view we will have to create a ibot which will again be a huge task. Can you pls guide how to approach this?
    Thanks in advance !

30+choices in column selector will definitely have performance issues..bcz each and every time the report is going to refresh .have u enabled the cache some what better .Whats the issue of using existing report by enabling the cache seeding in ibots?

  • Trying to log into a RDS server using cached credentials

I have a Windows Server 2012 R2 with Remote Desktop Services installed and it is a member server in my domain.   As a test,  I have cut the network connection between the RDS server and the domain controller.   I can log into the
RDS server at the console with my cached domain account,  but I can't RDP into the server with my cached domain accout.   It is telling me the specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.   Does RDS sessions not
use cached credentials ?    I have set the Group Policy Option: Interactive logon: Number of previous logons to cache (in case domain controller is not available) to 30.   That didn't seem to make any difference.  Thanks for any
    help with this problem.

    Hi,
By default Network Level Authentication (NLA) will be used for RDP connections, and this requires the domain controller to be available.  If you needed to you could disable the requirement to use NLA in the collection properties and set a custom rdp
property so that clients would not attempt to use NLA when they connect.  The downside of this approach is clients will never use NLA when connecting and instead will see a server-side log on screen, and may get multiple prompts for credentials.
It is preferred to use NLA where possible, which in most cases it is since modern clients support it.

  • [Repost] Kodo do not use cache when resolving references to objects?

    Abe,
I noticed that if object A references object B and we read multiple A
object which reference the same B object, this B object will be re-read
from database for every fetched A object. If I read 100 A-object
referencing the same B it will do 100 selects on the same B. I use
optimistic transactions with retain values = true
Could you please comment on it
    Thank you very much

No Abe that is it. I was not sure I am not doing something wrong. I
seemed very strange to me that internal reference resolution completely
    ignore cache.
I think it is quite important - you want believe how much it slows down
object graph retrieval. It does not seem to be hard to implement. :-)_
I guess when resolving a reference you would have to use the same
validate _true/false settings as for retrieving  object?

this B object will be re-read_
from database for every fetched A object_Yes, this seems like inefficient behavior that we should optimize. The
same B instance is returned from each relation, so it is not a bug, but
obviously it is something we could be doing a little more intelligently.
    Thanks for pointing it out!

  • Why not use cache cleaners

a brody said(http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7012363) "Don't use Cache Cleaners at all except when troubleshooting."
That thread is closed so I start a new one in the hopes of getting someone, hopefully a brody, to explain exactly what harm using Cache Cleaners on a Leopard MacBook does.

    TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT wrote:

Depends on how you define "harm."
Strictly speaking, it doesn't hurt your Mac at all to throw out caches whenever you like.
But if there is one thing so many users like to whine about, it's performance. Why does my Mac seem slower? Why does it take so long to start up after a system update? Why is it taking so long for apps to start up? Performance is a big reason users start complaining and pointing a finger at Apple for not "optimizing" OS X.
Well guess what. Caches are one of the primary ways Apple tries to speed up your Mac. It caches all kinds of things so that once you load them into the cache it does not have to load them all from scratch. There is a startup cache for your startup items, a font cache for fonts, etc. So when you start up a Mac and it takes 45 seconds, and then you apply a system update and startup then takes 3 minutes, people think it slowed down. No, the nominal startup time is 3 minutes but it had been accelerated with startup caches all this time. Since the update invalidated the caches they have to be rebuilt from scratch.
Same thing with login times and application startups. Ever notice that the first time you start an app after a restart, it takes X seconds, but every subsequent time it takes a much shorter time (until you restart, then it's back to X seconds). That's because the app code has been cached.
So there is no technical harm to removing the caches, but it will just about guarantee that your Mac will be slower until the caches are rebuilt.
This means a user who only trashes caches when there is an actual problem to troubleshoot, and rarely restarts their Mac, should have overall faster performance than someone who dumps caches all the time and shuts down the Mac every night (since restarts trash RAM caches).
This also means that users who throw out caches more frequently than normal have to forfeit the expectation of optimal performance, since caches are so critical for that. If you are picky about performance, then obsessive cache dumping does harm your Mac.

    Hi Friends,

    "con1: Command> call ttCacheUidPwdSet('TestUser', 'prashant');

can anybody tell me what could be the problem.
And to use cache connect is there a separate installation ? or setting ?
    Thanks,
    Prashant

What exact version of Oracle client is installed on the TimesTen machine? Are the permissions for the Oracle client directory and files set correctly? Do you have your Oracle environment properly setup (i.e. can you connect to Oracle using SQL*PLUS)? When you installed TimesTen, did the user you used to install it have a valid Oracle environment?
This type of error is almost always due to an unsupported version of the client or an incorrect environment either at runtime or at installation time.
