USING CALCULATED MEMBERS IN DISCOVERER OLAP WORKSHEET

How to sort the calculated members based on folders like the way saved selection is e.g.
/root/Users/UserA/AccountDim
As many users are creating and using shared calculated members its very hard to find the saved selection created by a particular user. We need a similar feature (folder view) for calc members as that of saved selection

As this is an enhancement request I would post on the Discoverer Forum page and also open a TAR with Oracle Support and request the information be forwarded to product management.

  • Publishing Discoverer plus OLAP worksheets on Portal with 10g Rel 2

    Hi,
I am getting an error (red cross sign in a circle) in the beginning of Discoverer OLAP worksheets when i tries to publish them on Portal. I have 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.2.0) database (Unix) and 10.1.2 AS (Windows) on production server.
I have developed the same dashboards on development server without having any problem but I used the infrastructure database (10.1.0.4) rather then using seperate database server.
I would appreciate if someone can help.
    Regards,
    Shahid

    Hi,
Have you given the user SCOTT access to the Discoverer Catalog? This is done via the Application Server Control for the BI Instance that you have created, ie, http://hostname:18100
Click on the Discoverer hyperlink, followed by the Administration tab, and then the manage link. Enter your credentials and then click on Authorize Users and Roles. You should then be able to give access for selected users and roles to the discoverer catalog.

  • Excel 2010 - Calculated Members on Dimension

    Hi
Was wondering if there was any workaround in Excel 2010 to make these appear. My understanding is that the behaviour is unchanged from 2007.
Does anyone know of any plans to support calculated members on dimensions in Excel?
    Cheers

I added the following to Adventure Works and it displays in Excel 2010 if I make sure to tick the option to display calculated members from the OLAP server.
    CREATE
    MEMBER
    CURRENTCUBE.[Date].[Calendar].[All Periods].test
    AS 123,
    VISIBLE = 1 ;
The other approach is to add a physical member to your dimension and then use a SCOPE to set the value based on an expression. This way you don't need to set the option to display calculated members.

  • Script Logic - Calculated Members

    Hello:
Im trying to build a script member using calculated members:
    *WHEN CUENTA
    *IS U4000
    *ENDWHEN
    *COMMIT
U4000 is a calculated member in the account dimension member. I tried using another account, that is not a calculated member and it works.
How can use calculated member in this sintax?
    Thanks in advance.
    Luciana

I would like to mention few things:
    1. OLAPLOOKUP it doesn't work anymore into 7.5. James can you double check. My tests is showing that OLAPLOOKUP is not even validate into 7.5
    2. Calc_Dummy_Org it is an option to get the values of calculate members
    3. It is strange that kind of condition because into script logic you are doing input for base members.
So that condition to test when an account is a an account which is not base member for me doesn't seems to be right.
I can understand if you are looking about the value of that account but not testing if an account it is an account which is not base member.
So if you want to record something with value of your calculate member just use:
    *BEGIN
    ACCOUNT.#basememberforinput = ACCOUNT.Calculatemember
    *END
    *COMMIT

  • How to pass parameter to a Discoverer Plus OLAP Worksheet??

    Hi,
I have used discoverer plus OLAP and portal to develop executive dashboards in my company. I put my date dimension in Page Item of discoverer plus OLAP worksheet to view a specific week/month/year of analysis i.e. Jul-07.
Now I have to open all the worksheets and change the page item value when week/month ends. If it was 'Jul-07' then I have to change it as 'Aug-07'.
In discoverer plus OLAP we can't pass parameters as we can in discoverer relational.
Can someone help me how I can set the new values without opening discoverer worksheets?
    Regards,
    Shahid

    Dear Shahid,
I downloaded the Oracle Application Server SOA Suite 10.1.3.1.0. While installing It gave me two options
    1. Basic Install
Install J2EE server and SOA suite of applications including BPEL, ESB
    and OWSM.
    2. Advance Install (This gives 4 options)
    a. J2EE Server, Web Server and SOA suite
    b. J2EE Server and Web Server
    c. J2EE Server
    d. Web Server\
According to your instructions I need to install it as Insfrastructure, BI and portal. Now can you tell me which option of the install I should select in order to meet the requirements of Infrastructure, BI and Portal.
Because I am very new in this technology so If you can guide to me to get started at least then I can follow the Oracle Tutorial for further training.
Thanks very much in this regards.

  • Using DynamicCalc Members in a Calculation

I am facing a weird behaviour while I am trying to use DynamicCalc members in a calculation
I have 2 DynamicCalc members i.e. Total Volume, Total Revenue
Differences between them are the AccountType and Data Type properties. For the Total Volume, Account Type is SavedAssumption and Data Type is Unspecified, for the Total Revenue the Account Type is Revenue and Data Type is Currency
I was trying to perform the following calculation:
Total ARPU = Total Revenue/Average Subscribers
Total Usage per Sub = Total Volume/Average Subscribers
The first one works properly but the 2nd one result in an incorrect value and unfortunately I was unable to trace where did this value com from.
    Any advise?
    Thanks
    Mohamed Adel

First you should check each item individually in business rule whether individual items are appearing correct or not.
    First try
Total Usage per Sub = Total Volume
if the values is correct then try
Total Usage per Sub = Average Subscribers
If they are appearing correct then proceed for Total Usage Per Sub.
Total Usage per Sub = Total Volume/Average Subscribers
Through this procedure you will most probably identify the problem

  • Can we define the objects (varibales, etc) in the OLAP Worksheet and use it

    Hi,
I am using AWM 11g ( AWM 11.2.0.3 ). I am trying to build cube for financial data. I tried to define variables, relations in the express backend (rather OLAP worksheet) for refering it into OLAP expressions 9frontend measure. However, whenever I define some object and save it (upd command). I am not finding the same object at the next loging. Is there any way I can do this?
    Thanks,
    Sam

You can define objects using the OLAP Worksheet. Make sure that you run "commit" after the "update".

  • Examples of using OLAP Worksheet to define dimensions & facts

Hi - Does anybody have examples of how to use the olap worksheet to define dimensions & facts and then load them from database tables and views? The manuals are OK, but I feel like I'm feeling my way blindly and not sure if I'm doing it right. A good set of examples would do wonders to make me more confident that I can do what I want to do.
Using AWM is out of the question, unfortunately. It simply doesn't do what I want it to do for semi-additive measures (i.e. count distinct).
    Thanks!

    Two minutes make no difference.

  • Printing failure using Discoverer OLAP

I've got a user who cannot print from Discoverer OLAP. When he attempts to print, he gets the print dialogue box, but when he selects OK, the dialogue box just disappears and nothing happens. It just doesn't seem to spool correctly. He can print from Discoverer relational just fine. Thanks.

    Dave.
I just wanted to let you know that you're not being ignored (as you can see by the number of views to your thread), but IMO the problem is that Disco with OLAP has a much smaller audience due to it's new-ness (new word there) and many just haven't tried it yet.

  • Calculated members In Excel 2013 - subtotals and grand totals missing

I am using Excel 2013 to query an SSAS OLAP cube. I have selected 2 dimensions in the row area, and I need to consolidate specific combinations of members values of each dimension. To do this I have created calculated members which combine sets of members
of each dimension, as in the code example below.
These members produce the desired results except that I do not have any subtotals on a 3rd dimension in the row area (Internal segment name, cf. image below), nor grand totals in the pivot table.
I am fairly new that MDX and would appreciate any advice on how to correct the code below.
Code for the member [Manufacturing Item].[Item Type].[All].[Cards Contact]
    AGGREGATE(
    CROSSJOIN(
    {[Manufacturing Item].[Item Type].&[CARD BODY OTHER],
    [Manufacturing Item].[Item Type].&[CARD BODY],
    [Manufacturing Item].[Item Type].&[SMART CARD]},
    [Techno cards contact]

In my previous post, the solution happened to work because the combination of the calculated members was equal to the whole dimension. But I found a cleaner method: subtotals need to be calculated for the combination of all the calculated members, so the
logic is to create a set that contains all of them. Then aggregate the measure for this set only for subtotals. To do this, I have created the following calculated measure:
    IIF(
    ISLEAF([Manufacturing Item].[Item Type].CurrentMember),
    [Measures].[Manufacturing Volume],
    SUM({[CalcMembers]},[Measures].[Manufacturing Volume])

  • Privilege setting in Discoverer OLAP

    Hi,
One of my customer has the following issue:
Powerful role OLAP_USER is assigned to the role D4OPUB, on first-time creation of a
Discoverer catalog. However OLAP_USERS has a lot of system privilege, like create table,
    create dimension.
We have a number of Discoverer OLAP end users who would just read worksheets thru the Discoverer
Viewer (i.e. need to access the Discoverer catalog), and thus do not need those privilege of
OLAP_USERS. Our DBA will seperately grant select-only rights over the corresponding OLAP analytic
    workspace to end users
    So what can we do:
    1) Any suggestions to accomplish this?
    2) Can OLAP_USERS role (or D4OPUB role)be revoked from the user without any issue?
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Padmanabh.

    Hi Padmanabh
Chapter 16 of my Discoverer 10g Handbook is dedicated to using Discoverer with OLAP and if you don't have a copy I would urge you to get hold of one.
I have taken the following extract from my book:
You can add users to the Discoverer Catalog either using Oracle Enterprise Manager, or using the Java command-line utility. Users have to be added to the Discoverer Catalog before they can connect to Discoverer Plus for OLAP.
To add or remove a user from the Discoverer Catalog using Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Application Control or Grid Control, use the following workflow:
    1. Connect to the Discoverer Catalog home page within Oracle Enterprise Manager as before.
    2. Click the Manage link.
    3. Enter the connection details for the Discoverer Catalog.
    4. Click Authorize Users and Roles.
    5. You will then be presented with a list of available database users and roles, and a list of those users and roles that are currently authorized to access the Discoverer Catalog.
    6. Select the users and roles that you want to access the Discoverer Catalog. If you add a role, all users with that role automatically have access to the Catalog. Any users or roles that you authorize for Discoverer Catalog use are assigned the D4OPUB role, which provides access to the objects stored in the catalog.
Reading between the lines then you can see that even if you assign another role for your end users they must also get the D40PUB role which means they will also get OLAP_USERS.
    Best wishes
    Michael

  • Calculated members in cross tab

    Hi all,
I have a profit and losses in a cross tab created by a group and I need to add some rows to have the totals.
    For example
    Revenue 1
    Revenue 2
    Revenue 3
    Total Revenue
    Cost 1
    Cost 2
    Total Costs
For total revenue I used a calculated members with that formula:
    GridValueAt(GetRowPathIndexOf("Revenue 1"), CurrentColumnIndex, CurrentSummaryIndex)
    + GridValueAt(GetRowPathIndexOf("Revenue 2"), CurrentColumnIndex, CurrentSummaryIndex)
    + GridValueAt(GetRowPathIndexOf("Revenue 3"), CurrentColumnIndex, CurrentSummaryIndex)
but the problem is that if I haven't for example any data for revenue 2 an error occurs -->argument # 1of "gridvalueat" is out of range.
It's possible to check if the argument exist??
    thanks

    hi alessandro,
i just found your forum post in the unanswered list...hopefully you've already found the answer for this.
GetRowPathIndexOf is looking for the text in a specific cell and not the actuall Row or Column Name.
When it doesn't find it, its output is -1...so you can use that in your formula to ensure that it doesn't break.
for example, if you have a cross-tab that looks like
    Canada        1006
    USA             5555
    Mexico         2331
GetRowPathIndexOf("Mexico") = 2 (as the index starts at 0 for Canada)
    GetRowPathIndexOf("Brazil") = -1
    hope this helps,
    jamie

  • Problem in drilling out to relational from OLAP worksheet

    Hi,
I am using level based hierarchy for my dimensions and trying drill out to relation worksheet from OLAP worksheet.
The problem I am facing is that the way OLAP stores data is always sufixed with the "_LEVELNAME". Now when passing parameters from OLAP we have two option (i) pass the label (ii) pass the value
    a) We cannot pass the value as the value will be appended with the _levelname. and will not match to the relational data.
    b) On the disco report it displays the long description which in our case is code_description value which is again not same data as stored in relational table.
My question is how can I make the short description visible in the report? Excel addin has feature through which you can either show long or short description.
    Your help is much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Issue resloved now.

  • Olap worksheet copy and paste fails hard parse

    Hi
i've noticed something strange in the AWM olap worksheet that may help anyone using it.
when you copy and paste some code to be executed it fails with strange errors however if you then type the code it runs without problem.
bizarrely if you copy and paste the code in again it works..
shown below is the console: 1st is pasted, 2nd typed, 3rd pasted... had me bashing my head against the screen a few times before i worked out what was going on.
->ROW 'SMOOTHING' FCQUERY(fc smoothing trial loopindx)
ERROR: (ORA-33776) ROW is not a command.
ORA-33776: ROW is not a command.
->ROW 'SMOOTHING' FCQUERY(fc smoothing trial loopindx)
    SMOOTHING no
->ROW 'SMOOTHING' FCQUERY(fc smoothing trial loopindx)
    SMOOTHING no
    ->
I assume this is a parsing problem (i'm cutting and pasting from notepad btw).
Once typed and parsed properly it doesn't do a hard parse again perhaps.
In any case watch out for it, especially when copying example programs from the help text :), you have to type them a la spectrum48k. (10 print 'start' .....;)

If you are copying and pasting from the OLAP DML Help then this is a known issue. The DML Help contains hidden characters that stop the code from executing.

  • I don't see Time Intelligence Calculated members in Universe

    Hi there,
I use Universe (BO XI 3.0) designer over MSSSAS 2005. I created calculated member for Time dimension using wizard for YTD, MTD calculations. I can browse the results from cube no problem. But then I created a universe on top of my cube and tried to connect that universe from Desktop it doesn't show those calculated members at all.
Could you advice any tricks or tips that allow to solve a problem, please?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Michael

    Michael,
A universe contains only metadata: dimensions, hierarchies and levels
The only members defined in the universe are the measures.
Other members are only accessible and visible in the final document or in the list of values.
So concerning your calculated member, if it is not linked to a particular hierarchy and linked to a parent I doubt that we will see it in a document. But for sure you will never see it in the universe.
