Using dynamic stamp in Reader 11 causes crash on exit.

I've just upgraded reader from 10 to 11 and am investigating using the enhanced comment functionality to stamp and date drawings as approved for manufacture. However after using a dynamic stamp, when we exit Reader we get a crash report that "Reader has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem". We are using Windows 7 and XP and get the same problem on both.
This is easy to reproduce.
1. Open a pdf.
2. Click Comment->(Annotations)->add stamp
3. Go into the dynamic category and click the top stamp.
4. place it on the drawing
5. Go to the File menu and Exit.
6. Click no when asked to save the file. (It also crashes if the file is saved)
The "Reader has stopped working" dialog will pop up.
It appears that this problem only occurs when the base file (from step 1) is stored on a network drive.
I've downloaded a Trial version of Acrobat Pro XI and the problem does not occur there.
Any help would be appeciated. We would like to integrate this into our work flow, but I can't recommend it while it's generating crash reports.

Same issue here although with Acrobat Pro XI. Does not matter if the document is saved locally or to the network. I don't see this listed as a known issue or addressed by any updates through 11.0.3.
Problem experienced by multiple users here, all with fresh installations of Acrobat XI. Screenshot of error attached. WIN7 x64, up-to-date.

the value you are trying to read is stored inside a control SAP calls EditText (basically a textbox).
The EditText has no value property, hence the crash.
It is better (and recommended by SAP) to cast the item.specific into the control it really is.
sboMatrix.Columns(Key).Cells.Item(Row).Specific.string
will work, but it involves late binding.

Nothing wrong with SAP here. Exept for causing a total crash, which is a little over the edge

Memory read error causes crash, cause unknown?

I've been getting the error below at various times, usually after I've been working for a while without saving. It appears to be random. Does anyone know what kinds of things might trigger this? Is there a fix?
FormDesigner.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x022221b2" referenced memory at "0x0000001c". The memory could not be "read".
I haven't noticed any patterns with when it occurs. It's very frustrating, to say the least. Especially for such an expensive piece of software that I expect to be reliable.

Acrobat Prof 7.0.5 update is now available. You can try to install the new update to see if the problem still exist.

Iphoto causes "crash" upon exit

Each time I exit iphoto6, After a minute of "nothing", the message to restart the computer manually comes up. I've run the disc utility permissions repair but it didn't solve this. I've deleted some slide shows and enhanced photos to shrink memory, but this didn't help either. Now what?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Even though you ran Disk Utility to repair disk permissions it does not operate on items in your User folder unless they are referenced in the receipts that get created in the HD/Library/Receipts folder when you do an installation. To do a repair permissions on the iPhoto Library folderdownload and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, substituting your account name for mine. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
Make a backup copy of your Library6.iPhoto file in case one of the crashes during quitting damages it and you can't even open your library after that.
Also, with that copy behind you, you can try rebuilding the library by launching iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Just select the one option regarding rebuilding the database (the Library6.iPhoto file I mentioned). If it's that file that's screwy the rebuild may just do it. Another rebuild method that may work if the normal one doesn't is to use iPhoto Library Manager. Here's how:

Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: It can take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos. One user reported that with a library of about 5,000 images it took about 12 hours so plan ahead.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

Can I create a custom-scripted dynamic stamp in Acrobat Standard or do I have to buy Acrobat Pro?

I am researching options for the company I work for to take it's invoicing system paperless and I need to know if I can create a custom-scripted dynamic stamp in Acrobat Standard or is that possible only in Acrobat Pro?

Dynamic Stamps Not Working in Adobe Acrobat Pro

Hi everyone, the dynamic stamps on Adobe Simultaneous Review are no longer working for us. I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 (it works for me) but it's not working for many other people (they have Adobe Acrobat Pro X). Does anyone know how we can fix this. I think the problem started occurring a few months ago.

You can shutting down Acrobat and then try moving (DO NOT DELETE - you may want put them back afterward if this doesn't work) the Collab and Sync folder out of the User's Acrobat folder and then rejoin the Shared Review to see if the Dynamic Stamps reappear.

Encore constantly crashes using dynamic link....

Not sure what's going on here, but I just wanted to see if anyone knew what was going on. For some reason when I use dynamic link from Adobe Premiere to Encore it constantly crashes immediately.
The project is just over an hour long with loads of edits.

Thanks for reporting that. It can solve some "DL crashes Encore" problems.
Rookie, a first step (which you may have done) is to see if Encore can be opened on its own, do basic functions (e.g. add a menu from the library etc). If yes, then look at whether it is only the one Premiere sequence, etc.
And, yes, try DStrange's solution. You don't have to add chapters to see if works. Chapters are one of the thinks that can cause issues, so a no-chapter version is a good troubleshooting step.

Question regarding the creation of a custom dynamic stamp using "Will Print" from "Set Doc. Actions

Using Acrobat 9.0 Professional, I have successfully created a dynamic stamp using the forums where I have added Login / Date to my own image and it works great as designed. However, the problem I am having is that when a document is stamped it becomes flat and doesn't update dynamically which does not work for my requirements.
I need to create a pdf that is stamped by myself so that other users (using only Reader) can open the pdf and when printed the stamp will print with the correct date/time (in the format I describe below).
I found a workaround (outside of a stamp) where I added a text box (called "Today") that updates everytime the document is printed by going to
Advanced / Document Processing / Set Document Actions / Document Will Print
and adding the following Java Code:

f.value = util.printd('yyyymmddhMMss', new Date());
This provides me with the unique number that I need for printing (ie: 20100317102030). It works great as an inserted text field on my pdf.
My problem is that when I use the "create custom stamp" as in other tutorials by inserting this new text field, it will not update (or display) on print, even though it was set the exact same way as the custom stamp I got working using the Adobe dynamic stamp information.
Can you offer any advice on how I can get this to work as a custom stamp? I would rather not have to create both a stamp and then overlay the text field manually as I have hundreds of documents (maybe more) to do this for.
Also, as an aside, if I could get this to work, I would also like to add Login ID that updates in the same manner as my custom date format (but one problem at a time I guess! )

I really wish Adobe had a Custom Stamp creator as part of their program, with the dynamic option. It would be so easy for them and save a lot of users so much time.

Stamps are just like a inked rubber stamp, except in Acrobat you can suppress printing them and you can move them. So if you use a dated "Faxed" stamp when you fax a document, even though you can adjust the stamp before affixing the stamp, once the document is stamped the date on the document can not be changed or moved. It appears, that the use of a stamp might not be the best solution.
"Interactive" means Acrobat JavaScript programing.
With JavaScript not only can you insert variable data but also fixed text strings or a combination of both.
So your script could be updated to something like:

Getting the 'login name" will require some special JavaScript code being added to an application level JavaScript folder that runs upon initialization and is the data or function created is then accessed by your PDF. This file will need to be installed on each user's system.

Clicking the link to add a comment to a Google Reader entry causes Firefox to crash unexpectedly. I've only had this problem since the 3.6.12 update. So far as I can tell, I don't have any problematic add-ons, and my browser is up to date.

This can be problem with one of the fonts that is used on that page and that is corrupted.
You can use the System File Checker to check if font files are missing or corrupted.

PDF compatibility level is too high. Supported PDF versions are PDF 1.3 and PDF 1.4 (Acrobat 4, 5 and 6). If you are using Acrobat 7 or higher you will need to save your file at a lower PDF compatibility level.

Can I balloon engineering prints in Adobe Reader or Acrobat? Create a dynamic stamp w/ Java Script?

I am trying to establish a very simple way to balloon prints with character numbers; below I have uploaded an example screen shot. My end goal is for the user to select a dynamic stamp (a circle with a number in the center) and it start numbering with 1 and then increment by 1 yet the user is placing each balloon in its respective location, resetting for each PDF document, one addition would be to allow the balloon numbers to be edited like a text box after they have been created in case there is an error in balloon placement etc. Is this possible? I have programming experience in other languages, but have only built a few dynamic stamps with time stamp information provided by java script code.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Yes it's possible with dynamic stamps, but the code is rather messy as it has to keep a running total.

Which operating system are you using?
Some filters like Filter>Sketch>Stamp need to have two different colors for the Foreground and Background set in the toolbox.
Press the D key to set the default toolbox color swatches to Black and White and then try the Stamp filter.
If your using mac os x 10.9 or 10.10, then some of the filters under Filter>Sketch will crash pse 11
They are Filter>Sketch>Comic, Graphic Novel and Pen and Ink
Otherwise resetting the pse11 editor preferences might resolve the crashing.
Go to Photoshop Elements Editor(Edit)>General, click on Reset Preferences on Next Launch and then restart the pse 11 editor

Failed to read parameter object using Dynamic Parameter

In one of my report I am using dynamic parameter, I tried to publish the report in BOXI and got the following error:
"Failed to read data from report file C:DOCUME1...LOCALS1Temp~crw{u2026u2026..-u2026.-u2026.-u2026.-u2026u2026u2026u2026}.rpt. Reason: Failed to read parameter object"
but if I change that to static parameter I am able to publish it.
I am using Crystal Report 2008 Version: 12.1.0.892

I went thru many forums and came up with some settings while publishing but nothing worked out. And some mentioned about the service packs and fix pack issues. But I am not sure which should be installed in order to make this work for my versions.
Can anyone please suggest, what can be done to publlish a report with dynamic parameter?

I am facing same kind of issue with crystal report 12.2.0.290 and BO server 12.1.0 © 2008 Business Objects.
While i am trying publish the report with dynamic parameter, its throwing the error "Failed to read parameter object ".
I am not sure what to do..can you please guide me ?
