Using element attributes to show changes

Hi,
I'm working in a structured environment in FM7.2, and the job requires that we save out to SGML. I've been asked to show changes to my documents using a visual element but not change bars (they're already being used) - confused? I hope I can explain it clearly.
We're creating parts lists, so basically we're working with pages of tables. We have the data from the OEM of the parts lists in hard copy. We have to reproduce that list for our client. The hard copy from the OEM shows their changes to the parts list on the left side of the table - we need to keep those marks but we also need to indicate changes to the list where our client has changed parts and we need to show those changes on the right side of the table with change bars. What I'm thinking is if I could use element attribute data to show the OEM (left side) changes and then that allows me to use the change bars for the client (right side) changes. The element for the item/part already has an attribute called 'change'. I recall reading somewhere that attributes can be used like this but I can't recall where I read it. If all that makes sense and it can be done, my question is how to implement it?
Any thoughts on this appreciated.

Since the way the EDD works has not changed very much, you may take any of those, to learn about context rules etc.

Error in committing data while using dynamic attributes

Page: Give Final Ratings: Main Appraiser
Here, I have used dynamic attributes to show the competency name without segments.
I have added this attribute through controller and i passed value to this attribute in the same ProcessRequest method.
But, when the manager tries to complete the appraisal for his employee by pressing the continue button in the above mentioned page, the following exception is throwing.
"This competence already exists within the assessment."
Is this dynamic attribute will be the problem for this?
can any one please tell me?

Hi,
If you added the column from Extended Controller. It should be a transient attribute to the VO and I think it should not create any issues.
Error "This competence already exists within the assessment." looks like from an FND Message , You can try to debug this issue by finding the FND Message Name corresponding to the error and search the Message Name in the seeded code.

Figured it out, if the raw default setting has the wb on 3000 (or tungsten) the slide show uses adobe raw to convert so they all showed blue LOL

AAC is Advanced Audio Coding. Basically it's a format that sounds better than MP3 but doesn't take up as much space as a lossless format (like you'd have on a CD). More than likely you've had that encoding turned on when you ripped your music into itunes (it's the default encoder). Therefore your LG phone won't play them.
You need to turn off the AAC format by going to the iTunes menu, Preferences, General (at the top), then clicking the "Import Preferences" button. Change the AAC Encoder to MP3 Encoder. After that you'll have to make MP3 copies of your songs by right clicking them and selecting "Create MP3 Version." You'll get a copy of the song that should transfer to your SD card and have MP3 encoding. Hopefully your phone will play that.

Changing Element Attribute Values

I spent far to long trying to figure out how to change an element attribute value without the FDK's SetAttributes function, so I thought I'd spare someone else the time.
Basically, you still get the attributes using the GetAttributes() function, but now you just set the beg.child.Attributes property to the updated attribute value.
//starting with a selected element
elemSelect=app.ActiveDoc.ElementSelection
//get the current attributes
var childattributes =elemSelect.beg.child.GetAttributes()
//find the attribute and value you want to change, and change it to a new value.
childattributes[0].values[0] = "New_Value"
//now assign the edited attributes to the selected element.
elemSelect.beg.child.Attributes=childattributes
Depending on how you selected the element, I assume you could do the above with beg.parent as well, but it wasn't something I needed to consider.

Thanks for this--you've likely saved me a headache.
While I hadn't hit this yet, it does apply to several of the projects on my to-do list. Based on the info in the OMV, I would have expected to be able to simply use a statement like myElement.Attributes[i].value[i] = "New_Value" which, as I'm sure you discovered, has no apparent effect at all.
The other thing I noticed in my quick testing is that defining your attributes variable by using the method (x = myElement.GetAttributes()) or by referenceing the Attributes property (x = myElement.Attributes) seem to be functionally equivalent.

Change htmlb element attribute

Can we change the htmlb element attribute in the layout section using event handler?
I want to set the value of an element attribute to 'TRUE' or 'FALSE' based on the user input and there is only one page in the BSP application.

Yes U can do that
U have to declare the element attribute as a variable
using <%= x_attr %>
Then change the value of x_attr in the Oninputprocesing event based on certain conditions.
Volia , when the page is rendered , it will pick up the new value.
Because onLayout is called after oninputprocessing , so it will always pick the new value.

"The reply" as in the Rescue email to reset your Security Questions? If so, then you will have to contact iTunes Support directly to get them reset:

Converting m4a flies to mp3 that elements 9 Slide shows can use

I downloaded a m4a audio format from iTunes and my elements 9 slide show can't read it. What is the best solution to convert to an mp3 format that the slide show can use? I'm running windows 7.

Element attributes using XSQL

I have been reading the documentation for the XSQL servlet in the hopes of using it to get XML data out of a relational database.
Whilst it seems straight forward to get the column entries into their own elements I have not seen how to get them into an element attribute instead of their own element (other than the id attribute which you can only use once per row).
Is this correct or is there a way to get column values into element attribute values instead of element values?
Any help appreciated.

If you're using XSQL, the best solution
is to use XSL stylesheets.
You could write XSL file to include
DTD/Schema in your output xml file.
Basic XSL sample is used in the XSQL demo.
There is short discussion in the readme.html
file. If you're only moving elements to
attributes, they probably would be enough.

As per the title is it possible to ignore "Rigid relationships between attributes cannot be changed" when using ProcessUpdate for Dimension?
We have a case where very rarely an item might have been miscategorised so the brand is manually changed. We want this dimension to be rigid to speed up ProcessUpdate.
We do a ProcessFull each night, so it will get corrected then, but during the hourly updates we would just like to ignore this error if possible?

I went to preferences/language & text/formats and changed it from US to metric. Then went back and changed it again to US. It seems to be correct now with US settings ( inches).

Using apex_item with element attributes

I am trying to create a manual tabular form. I used the SQL below:

I set all my columns to 'Standard Report column'. I need to add some element attributes like:

It seems to ignore this when the form is built as looking at the source doesn't have this code in with the element. How can I add these attributes to the element?
