Using EVDRE to return only records having a value greater than X

in the old reporting wizard you could use MDX statement like "return only those members/data where the value of some account is greater than 100".
Thus allowing you to select for instance those entities that had signinficant sales or the like.
In EVDRE i am looking for a way to do the same but apart from returning the Top n members or suppressing zero's i cannot fnd a way to do this. From an earlier post in the old outlooksoft consultancy forum (dating from march last year)  i understood that this functionality was already prepared so i assumed it is in, but how ???? (if it is there of course).
I hope some of you have the answer.....
Thanks,
Edwin van Geel (SAP Netherlands)

Maggie, I think what David's answer implies is this:
You can't (now, 5.1) use EVDRE to do a suppression based on signeddata.
You can either build your entire report with EVENEs for the expansion, and EVGETs for the data retrieval (basically use the wizard templates) or use an EVENE for the expansion and EVDRE to only retrieve the data. The second option's a bit more complicated to set up, but likely the better approach in terms of performance and future-proofing.
Either way, in the EVENE you use the MDX filter, both to evaluate the data values, and the other filter requirement you have.

  • Returning only records that have no entry in a specific field

    Hello,
    I'm new to this forum and relatively new to Crystal Reports, so I apologize if this information is "plain as day" somewhere.  I've been hunting for this info for quite a while and can't find anything that makes sense!
    I am trying to put together a very simple report that will return only records where a certain field is blank.
    It is an Access database, in an information management program specific to our type of business.  CR 11 software was included with the LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System), as the reports generated from the LIMS software are in CR.  I've learned enough to be able to tweak reports and make some basic reports, but I can't find a simple answer to what I think is a simple question!
    I have the report set up to access the following fields in the database:  Invoice number, Client name, Due date, Invoice amount, and Payment Received.  This will be used as a "cross check" - not as any major accounting tool - as the Payment Received field is simply the date that the payment was received.  If no payment has been received, the field is left blank.
    I want the report to return ONLY those records where that field is blank (i. e. a list of invoices/clients whose payment has not yet been received).
    Ideally, I would also like to be able to return only those records where that field is blank OR within a certain date range (i. e. less than 30 days from the date that the report is run).  However, we'll probably only use this report a couple of times a month, so that is not as critical.
    I know I need to filter the records according to the Payment Received field, but don't know how to construct a formula that says "just show the fields where there is nothing entered."
    Thank you!
    Brenda

    This is the hardest function to find:  IsNull
    If isNull(field) then
        //  if the above fails on a numberic field or text field then see the following two-some databases are picky.
    If IsNull(field) or field=0 then  //this one maybe needed for a numeric field
    If IsNull(field) or field=""    //  this one maybe needed for a text field
    if IsNull(field) or field=<value>
    or
    if IsNull(field) or field like <value*>
    You always want the IsNull statement to be the first statement, and it is especially usefull when testing for not equal
    If IsNull(field) or field <>  <value>

  • Need help writing a MySQL query that will return only records with matching counter-parts

    Since I don't know how to explain this easily, I'm using the
    table below as an example.
    I want to create a MySQL query that will return only records
    that have matching counter-parts where 'col1' = 'ABC'.
    Notice the 'ABC / GHI' record does not have a
    counter-matching 'GHI / ABC' record. This record should not be
    returned because there is no matching counter-part. With this
    table, the 'ABC / GHI' record should be the only one returned in
    the query.
    How can I create a query that will do this?
    id | col1 | col2
    1 | ABC | DEF
    2 | DEF | ABC
    3 | ABC | GHI
    4 | DEF | GHI
    5 | GHI | DEF
    *Please let me know if you have no idea what I'm trying to
    explain.

    Please be more clear. You say that 'ABC / GHI' should not be
    returned,
    and then you say that 'ABC / GHI' should be the only one
    returned. Can't
    have both...

  • Why cannot I use hidden or display only item to store value for insert?

    hi, Gurus:
    I have a question:
    I implemented a form with report region in a page, the update works OK, but the add function has a problem:
    There is a column, offender_ID, which is a foreign key for another table, it should not be null during insert. However, even I pass the offender ID from master page when user click the create button, and it did shows in the form, it must be a text filed to insert successfully, why cannot I use hidden or display only item to store this value for insert? (If I use hidden or display only item, insert won't be successful, apex reports I tried to insert a null value to offender_ID column.)
    Many Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

(If I use hidden or display only item, insert won't be successful, apex reports I tried to insert a null value to offender_ID column.)I think both hidden and display items have attributes that can cause problems because of different ways these items function than non-hidden and non-display-only items function. Display Only items have a "Setting" of "Save Session State" Yes/No? That can be a problem.
    Would you do this? Make these items regular items instead and see if you can get those working. Then, we will try to change the fields back to hidden or display only.

    Congratulations. Glad you found the solution.

  • How do I disallow negative numbers in a selected group of cells (i.e. only allow values greater than or equal to zero)?

    I have a table of calculated values in Numbers, and I want to disallow negative numbers in the entire table. Any numbers that would be negative I would like changed to/displayed as zeroes, that way future calculations that may be based on this cell use the value of 0 for the calculation rather than the negative value. I have seen ways of doing this to single cells at a time, but I am interested in applying it to a large selection of cells.
    There is the Conditional Format option when you bring up the inspector, but I cannot get a custom rule to work for me. I select "Greater than or equal to" and I enter 0 in the box, but nothing changes. Can anyone help with this?
    Thanks

    A step toward simplifying the application of MAX to the issue, Jerry.
    This part, though:
    Now apply your long, animal-modeling, expressions to this new, interposing, table rather than the original.
    may still leave several references to be change from the original data table to the new one.
    One way to get around that is to use the Duplicate ("DATA-1) as the new table for raw data, and the Original (DATA) as the interposing table, using the formula =MAX(DATA-1::A2) as above, starting in DATA::A2.
    This way, the long expressions could continue to reference the original table (with its content now modified).
    ALTERNATE process:
    Find/Replace could also be used to speed the process of reassigning the modeling expressions to the duplicate table, as suggested by Jerry. But some cautions apply here.
    Find/Replace can be limited to Formulas only, but not to Some formulas only.
    Find/Replace can be limited to the Current Sheet only, but this can't be combined with Formulas only.
    More on this later, when I've had a chance to check some possibilities.

  • Select only records where column values are not all equal to zero

    Hi everyone, this seems so easy but it's got me stumped on finding a clean, easy way to accomplish this. I'm sure when someone responds, I'll kick myself. So, assume the following is what I've got:
    with mytable as (
    select 'Type 1' as itemtype, 'JAN' as monthname, 0 as theval from dual union all
    select 'Type 1' as itemtype, 'FEB' as monthname, 1 as theval from dual union all
    select 'Type 1' as itemtype, 'MAR' as monthname, 5 as theval from dual union all
    select 'Type 1' as itemtype, 'APR' as monthname, 1 as theval from dual union all
    select 'Type 1' as itemtype, 'MAY' as monthname, 4 as theval from dual union all
    select 'Type 1' as itemtype, 'JUL' as monthname, 0 as theval from dual union all
    select 'Type 1' as itemtype, 'AUG' as monthname, 0 as theval from dual union all
    select 'Type 1' as itemtype, 'SEP' as monthname, 1 as theval from dual union all
    select 'Type 1' as itemtype, 'OCT' as monthname, 7 as theval from dual union all
    select 'Type 1' as itemtype, 'NOV' as monthname, 1 as theval from dual union all
    select 'Type 1' as itemtype, 'DEC' as monthname, 2 as theval from dual union all
    select 'Type 2' as itemtype, 'JAN' as monthname, 0 as theval from dual union all
    select 'Type 2' as itemtype, 'FEB' as monthname, 0 as theval from dual union all
    select 'Type 2' as itemtype, 'MAR' as monthname, 0 as theval from dual union all
    select 'Type 2' as itemtype, 'APR' as monthname, 0 as theval from dual union all
    select 'Type 2' as itemtype, 'MAY' as monthname, 0 as theval from dual union all
    select 'Type 2' as itemtype, 'OCT' as monthname, 0 as theval from dual union all
    select 'Type 2' as itemtype, 'NOV' as monthname, 0 as theval from dual union all
    select 'Type 2' as itemtype, 'DEC' as monthname, 0 as theval from dual
    select
      itemtype,
      sum (case monthname when 'JAN' then theval else 0 end) as JAN,
      sum (case monthname when 'FEB' then theval else 0 end) as FEB,
      sum (case monthname when 'MAR' then theval else 0 end) as MAR,
      sum (case monthname when 'APR' then theval else 0 end) as APR,

      sum (case monthname when 'SEP' then theval else 0 end) as SEP,
      sum (case monthname when 'OCT' then theval else 0 end) as OCT,
      sum (case monthname when 'NOV' then theval else 0 end) as NOV,
      sum (case monthname when 'DEC' then theval else 0 end) as DEC
    from mytable
    group by itemtype
    order by itemtypeI need an outer query around this one or something that will only select "Type 1"... i.e., if all of the months are each equal to zero, don't include the record in the result set.
    Summing them to get a total of zero is not an option, as I could have -15 and +15 in different columns, in which case, that record would need to be displayed.
    Something as simple as... "where not (oct = 0 and nov = 0 and dec = 0...) at the end is all I seem to need. I've thought about adding a case clause for each column, but that doesn't seem very efficient. Ideas?
    Thanks in advance!
    Mark
    Edit... I know the following will work using the MINUS operator, but my real query is really huge, and I don't want to have to write it twice...
    {code}
    select
    itemtype,
    sum (case monthname when 'JAN' then theval else 0 end) as JAN,
    sum (case monthname when 'FEB' then theval else 0 end) as FEB,
    sum (case monthname when 'MAR' then theval else 0 end) as MAR,
    sum (case monthname when 'APR' then theval else 0 end) as APR,
    sum (case monthname when 'MAY' then theval else 0 end) as MAY,
    sum (case monthname when 'JUN' then theval else 0 end) as JUN,
    sum (case monthname when 'JUL' then theval else 0 end) as JUL,
    sum (case monthname when 'AUG' then theval else 0 end) as AUG,
    sum (case monthname when 'SEP' then theval else 0 end) as SEP,
    sum (case monthname when 'OCT' then theval else 0 end) as OCT,
    sum (case monthname when 'NOV' then theval else 0 end) as NOV,
    sum (case monthname when 'DEC' then theval else 0 end) as DEC
    from mytable
    group by itemtype
    minus
    select
    itemtype,
    jan,feb,mar,apr,may,jun,jul,aug,sep,oct,nov,dec
    from (
    select
    itemtype,
    sum (case monthname when 'JAN' then theval else 0 end) as JAN,
    sum (case monthname when 'FEB' then theval else 0 end) as FEB,
    sum (case monthname when 'MAR' then theval else 0 end) as MAR,
    sum (case monthname when 'APR' then theval else 0 end) as APR,
    sum (case monthname when 'MAY' then theval else 0 end) as MAY,
    sum (case monthname when 'JUN' then theval else 0 end) as JUN,
    sum (case monthname when 'JUL' then theval else 0 end) as JUL,
    sum (case monthname when 'AUG' then theval else 0 end) as AUG,
    sum (case monthname when 'SEP' then theval else 0 end) as SEP,
    sum (case monthname when 'OCT' then theval else 0 end) as OCT,
    sum (case monthname when 'NOV' then theval else 0 end) as NOV,
    sum (case monthname when 'DEC' then theval else 0 end) as DEC
    from mytable
    group by itemtype
    where ( oct = 0 and nov = 0 and dec = 0 and jan = 0 and feb = 0 and mar = 0
    and apr = 0 and may = 0 and jun = 0 and jul = 0 and aug = 0 and sep = 0
    order by itemtype
    {code}
    Edit again... Ok, I guess I'm answering my own question here, but I think using a WITH clause to write the main query once and then selecting * from it twice using the MINUS operator in between where the second query has where (oct = 0, etc.) is what I need. If anyone else has better suggestions, please do let me know! Here's the pseudo logic for what I've come up with so far...
    {code}
    WITH mainquery as (select everything)
    select * from mainquery
    minus
    select * from mainquery where (oct = 0, nov = 0, etc...)
    {code}
    Thanks again!

    Hi,
    You can do that with a HAVING clause:
    select
      itemtype,
      sum (case monthname when 'JAN' then theval else 0 end) as JAN,
      sum (case monthname when 'FEB' then theval else 0 end) as FEB,
      sum (case monthname when 'MAR' then theval else 0 end) as MAR,
      sum (case monthname when 'APR' then theval else 0 end) as APR,
      sum (case monthname when 'MAY' then theval else 0 end) as MAY,
      sum (case monthname when 'JUN' then theval else 0 end) as JUN,
      sum (case monthname when 'JUL' then theval else 0 end) as JUL,
      sum (case monthname when 'AUG' then theval else 0 end) as AUG,
      sum (case monthname when 'SEP' then theval else 0 end) as SEP,
      sum (case monthname when 'OCT' then theval else 0 end) as OCT,
      sum (case monthname when 'NOV' then theval else 0 end) as NOV,
      sum (case monthname when 'DEC' then theval else 0 end) as DEC
    from mytable
    group by itemtype
    HAVING      MIN (theval)     != 0
    OR      MAX (theval)     != 0
    order by itemtype
    ;If the values are all 0, then the MIN and the MAX will both be 0.
    If either the MIN or the MAX is not 0, then the values are not all 0.
    This assumes that the combination (itemtype, monthname) is unique, as it is in your sample data.
    If that's not the case, start with a subquery that GROUPs BY itemtype, monthname, so that, when you get to the main query, that combination will be unique.

  • Custom built field to be used as lable in pie chart having multiple values

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement and if someone can throw some light, then I could try the same as I am stuck now.
    I have a list of Cities and I have to show the Top 5 Cities and remaining all should be "All Others". I have used Rank and was able to Show Top 5 and combine rest everything into "All Others" through a logic.
    e.g:
    City                            Sales Rev
    Belarus                          1000
    Delhi                               2000
    Melbourne                      2500
    Sydney                          2000
    Singapore                      1500
    All Others                       4500
    Now I have to show this new dimension combined like below and use New_City as Dim and Sales Rev as Measure in a Pie Chart. The Pie chart will be shown on Sales Rev as measure and the New_City which is a combination of a lot of other fields will show them as labels
    New_City                                                        Sales Rev
    Belaruschar(10)[Qty Sold]                          1000
    Delhichar(10)[Qty Sold]                               2000
    Melbournechar(10)[Qty Sold]                      2500
    Sydneychar(10)[Qty Sold]                          2000
    Singaporechar(10)[Qty Sold]                      1500
    All Otherschar(10)[Qty Sold]                       4500
    This is my requirement and I am stuck at combining City like Belaruschar(10)[Qty Sold] to form New_City because as and when I do this and remove City column from the table it starts throwing multivalue error or in some other style gives me a summation of the entire Sales Rev in each row.
    If I can achieve the same in some other approach also, I would highly appreciate the same if someone can share their ideas.
    Regards

    Greetings,
    Normally you can create a variable with a formula depending on the city's that you want to have.
    For example using efashion, the following formula would give you two lines:
    =If([City]="Miami";[City]Char(10)"1000";"Others")
    Result would be something like
    Miami
    1000                           1500
    Others                         20000
    Please note this is only an example and then you can apply your ranking. However bear in mind due to aggregation the Others will be the sum of all the other City which are not included in your condition.
    Regards,
    Rico.

    Hello Friends,
     I am using Date Range filters(Start and End Date) in my SSRS Report. The Problem is that if i am using the start date will be today, then the end date will be the future date by using Analysis Service as my Data Source, the report is not generated.
    I don't know why it happens? If I give the date range filters before the current date, then the report will shown.
    The problem is that the future date is not in my database. Could you please answer for this. I am struck in here,.
    Table contains : 1-7-14 ,
    2-7-14,
    3-7-14,
    If my Date Range will be 1st to 3 of 7th month, then the report shows the data.
    if my date starts with 1st of the 7th month and ends in the future, then the report will not shown the 2nd and 3rd records...

    Without knowing the details of the signal you are acquiring (output Z etc), I can only offer an old suggestion.
    A voltage divider may be usefull. This will work if your application can tolerate some external resistors.

  • Executing VO only returns 1 record

    Hi,
    I am using Jdev 11.1.1.4.0.
    I have a Read only VO and have a methond in AMImpl class that reads
    ViewObjectImpl componentLOV;
    componentLOV= getComponentsNameOnly();
    componentLOV.setNamedWhereClauseParam("bndComponentName", componentName);
    componentLOV.executeQuery();
    return componentLOV.getAllRowsInRange();This only returns 1 record althought there are more than 1 record.
    If I change the code to componentLOV = getUpdatableVO();, then it returns all the records that meets the condition.
    Any idea?
    Thanks

    plz paste the complete method. You need List if you want to work with multiple rows
    here what i copied from the docs
    public class AppModuleImpl extends ApplicationModuleImpl
    public List<ViewRowImpl> findProducts(String location)
    List<ViewRowImpl> result = new ArrayList<ViewRowImpl>();
    ViewObjectImpl vo = getProductsView1();
    vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("TheLocation", location);
    vo.setForwardOnly(true);
    vo.executeQuery();
    while (vo.hasNext()) {
    result.add((ViewRowImpl)vo.next());
    return result;
    }

  • CONTAINS - Return only searched words

    Hi,
    I would like to know if it's possible to use CONTAINS and return only the rows when the result contains ONLY the searched terms.
    I can't find a way to use CONTAINS and "NOT LIKE" together to build a single SELECT statement that works.
    Ex.
    I would like the result to be ROW 1 and2 ONLY.

    1. AA CC
    2. CC AA
    3. AA BB CC
