Using GPO to deploy Acrobat 9.1

I am ttying to deploy Acrobat Reader 9.1 using GPO as I have
in the past for previous versions however this new version has two
annoyances that I and probably my users will hate. I have got rid
of things like the EULA using an MST but these 'problems/hates'
remain.
1 Extraneous desktop shortcut (acrobat.com)
2 Prompt for proxy credentials on first load.
How do i get rid of both please.

Hello,
I'm sorry I'm not able to address your question. These forums
are specific to the
Acrobat.com website and its set of hosted services, and do

  • Unable to Deploy Software using GPO in Windows Server 2012

    Dear Microsoft Team,
When I tried to deploy a software using GPO its giving an error -Add operation failed. Unable to extract deployment information from the package. Run validation on the package to ensure that the package is correct

    Hi Subin,
I agree with Prabhu that the software package you deploy via group policy needs to in the format of .msi. The company or developer who produces the application provides the Windows Installer package .msi file and includes it with the application.
If a Windows Installer package does not come with an application, you might need to create a Windows Installer package by using a third-party tool.

  • InstallShield Tuner 8???  Need to deploy Acrobat 8 using SMS...

Does anyone know if Adobe will be releasing a new version of InstallShield Tuner for Acrobat 8? My company just got a Volume License copy of Acrobat 8 Professional and I have been asked to deploy it. Deploying Acrobat 7.08 Pro using InstallShield Tuner and SMS 2003 worked well for us but we did run into some problems at the beginning. but once they were overcome, deploying Acrobat 7.08 went smoothly.
Anyways, can't seem to find anything on Adobe's site that mentions this. Any help or reference to this matter will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

  • Error Deploying Acrobat via AD in Server 2008 R2

    Hi Folks,
We've recently migrated all our Active Directory domain controllers from Windows Server 2003 to Server 2008 R2. We previously deployed all major apps (including a number of Adobe products) using group policy deployment via msi's which worked great.
Now, in attempting to add ANY Adobe msi installer package in Server 2008 R2 to a group policy we get an error stating:
"Add operation failed. Unable to extract deployment information from the package. Run validation on the package to ensure that the package is correct."
This happens with msi's for Acrobat Standard 9.0.0, Acrobat Pro 9.0, Acrobat Reader 9.1 & 9.3 & Flash Player 9.
ALL other deployed applications work fine on Server 2008 R2 - the problem affects all of our Adobe products and none of our non-Adobe products.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Shaun K.
PS - This is my first post, please be nice to the newbie.

I am having a similiar issue.  We have a valid Adobe Reader 9.3.0 installation and are trying to upgrade to 9.3.4.  When we try to make the 9.3.4 we get this error message.  Oddly enough, while testing we tried to recreate the 9.3.0 package using the same files and received this error.  We are also 2008 R2. Other Adobe products have this error.  This is for products we currently use via GPO.  Does not seem to have problems with other companies software products.

  • Deploying Acrobat 9.0

I am  deploying Acrobat Pro 9.0 to a group of computers, sharing the same license. I have a Software Distribution folder where I will deploy the .msi from using a GPO. The problem is, I need to incorporate the serial number in to the install. In the administator manual it says to do this:
For any application that you deploy (other than a transform you created by using Adobe
Customization Wizard 9), you must edit the Abcpy.ini file to contain the serial number information
for the application. To edit this file, right-click the file name and select Properties. Then, clear
the Readme check box and type the serial number information in the OEM Installation Options
box. Make sure you then place the edited Abcpy.ini file at the distribution point
The problem is that there is no Abcpy.ini file in the folder Acrobat installed to. Do i need to create this file?
Also, there are a bunch of patches that have been released since 9.0 came out. I will patch the .msi with all those patches up to 9.3.3
Can I just push that one 9.3.3 msi patch out? Or does all or the versions need to be available in the software distribution folder?

    Hello,
Get the new admin guide and an updating quick key here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83709.html. The quick key should answer your questions re what to install. For Acrobat, you need to update with all the patches individually.
Regarding preserialization of the license, that file should be on your CD or web download with all the other files. When you find the file, open it and set
    ISX_SERIALNUMBER.
It sounds like you might want to use the Customization Wizard to tweak the app first (turn off the EULA, set security, etc.). Doing so modifies the boostrapper's Setup.ini file. You can set ISX_SERIALNUMBER in wizard, in setup.ini manually, or on the command line.

  • Deploying Acrobat X updates?

We originally deployed Acrobat Pro 10.0.3. We created an AIP using 10.0 and the 10.0.3 MSP file. Now that 10.1 is out, we would like to update our machines. I was reading the enterprise guide and from my initial understanding, it seems we need to deploy Acrobat to every user--we can't just push out an update. Is this correct? Is there no way to simply push out the MSP file to have the machines update to the latest version? Thanks!

Here's a follow up question, with my current work flow and understanding:
Acrobat is installed to machines via GPO pointing to an AIP.
When there is a patch, the patch is applied to a fresh 10.0 AIP, the old AIP is replaced, and the GPO is set to 'redeploy'.  This in effect uninstalls the previous instance of the software, and installs the new version in it's place.
It works, but requires keeping or making a new 10.0 AIP to patch each time (a minor annoynce), the time to completely uninstall and reinstall Acrobat, and the network traffic to completely reinstall a 1+ GB application to every machine that has Acrobat installed.
Some people put out command lines that would install a msp to a previous installation. Can this command line be integrated into the same GPO, such that the patch is applied via GPO to those machines it is already applied to?
If not, what method is being used to run this command line on all pertinant machines, given that there is no guarantee that each machine will be online or available at any given instance (even better, it is possible, say if it were a laptop, that the machine may not be online for a month or more).
Using the first 'Full Reinstallation from a patched AIP' method is ugly, but works as a 'set it and forget it' method.  Can the 'command line patch' be set up in a 'set it and forget it' manner as well?
Reading through the Enterprise Deployment Guide, using the AIP is the only method mentioned in the GPO section.  So, anyone 'moving away from an AIP model', how do you accomplish this (or 'how do you accomplish this without additional software such as SCCM, which would be a whole new ball of wax with it's own problems, at least from what I've already read in this thread, and a huge overhead to implement to take care of the very few applications we would need it for).
    Thanks for the input!

  • How to package and deploy Acrobat Standard without a Serial Number?

    Hello,
In our environment we package applications without Serial Numbers depending on what it is.  We do this so we can actively manage applications and we don't need to buy a licence for each and every user.  If you never run the app, you don't need a licence, if you leave the firm we know what licenced apps you have and so can redeploy to someone who needs it.
How can we deploy Acrobat Standard to some of our users without a S/N attached?  I've deployed Acrobat Pro using the trial software, when the user fires up Pro they have to enter a Serial Number before they can move on.  Is there such a feature for Standard?
We really don't want to have to do a manual install for 60+ machines it would be a massive waste of time.
Any thoughts on the best way to proceed here?
    Thanks
    Mark

Those numbers should be on the internet. Apologies if my answers are confusing. I'll try again:
You can't deploy without a serial number.
    You need a volume license.
Use the Wizard to customize the installer.
The Wizard allows you to preserialize the installer.
Updates don't need to be serialized. Just chain the latest update with the base install as described in the Admin Guide. Alternatively, you can do it later.
As far as adding seats, I don't know the answer. The Admin Guide links to licensing FAQs, but you can also try the Licensing Web Site, support, or your sale's person. You could also try creating another thread with the "add seat" question in the title.

  • Shortcut to File Server Using GPO

I would like to be able to push a shortcut out, using GPO to a file server.  The shortcut works individually on a desktop but I can not see how to push it out with GPO.  Basically I want it to go to \\servername and thats it.  I feel like
it should be a file system object but I dont get a shortcut when I use that.  If I do URL i get an icon but it doesn't load in explorer rather the internet browser.  Any help would be appreciated.

If I understand well, you would like to push shortcuts to end users desktops so that they can easily browse your File Servers. If this is the case then you can simply proceed like the following:
Prepare the shortcuts and put them in a share
Use xcopy command and prepare a script that copies the shortcuts from the share to your computers public profile desktop
    %public%\desktop
Deploy the script as a startup script
Once deployed and you restart the target computers, your end users (Domain and Non-Domain users) would be able to see the shortcuts coming on their desktops.

  • Uninstalling Adobe Reader using GPO

    Hi,
This is a test situation and once working I will want to install and uninstall other applications using GPO.  I have tried it on two target PCs, one physical and one virtual, both react in the same way with similar entries in the event log.
I am trying to distribute Adobe Reader X using GPO.  The deployment works as expected so no problems there.
The problem is uninstalling it.  The GPO side of things appears to be working as the AppState values in the registry change as expected and the following entries appear in the application log of the target PC:

Despite the log reports stating Adobe Reader X has been uninstalled the application is still there, has icons where one would expect icons, is listed in Programs and Features, and can be used.  So what is going on?
    1)      Can anyone tell me why the application is not being uninstalled?
    2)      Is it an Adobe thing or can I expect other applications to act in the same way?

  • Deploying Acrobat DC with Creative Cloud Packager

How are you guys deploying Acrobat DC with the Creative Cloud Packager?
In this Adobe's article for the CC Packager, it says, "For Acrobat DC, Exception Deployer Application is not required. For Acrobat DC, you only need to run the setup.exe ... you need to run the main CCP package msi after running the Acrobat DC setup.exe. However you need to run Exception deployer in postmode, if there are other application (except Acrobat DC) in the Exceptionsfolder of win package."And when they say, "run the setup.exe", they actually mean from the command line using a bunch of (undocumented?) parameters.I noticed that when I run the Exception Deployer in post mode, it deploys Acrobat DC, contrary to what the article says.
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks Community

    Hi Ric,
the licensing information is installed by the setup.exe or the MSI in the "build" directory, so you need to execute that as well, e.g.
    cd Exceptions\APRO15.0en_US\Adobe Acrobat\
    start /wait msiexec /i "AcroPro.msi" /qn /lv* %TEMP%\AcrobatInstall.log
    cd ..\..\..\Build
    start /wait msiexec /i "PackageName.msi" /qn /lv* %TEMP%\PackageName.log
    cd ..\Exceptions
    ExceptionDeployer --workflow=install --mode=post
Note that if you choose to use the msiexec method to install Acrobat, the default language will be determined by the operating system language.
The ExceptionDeployer is necessary for the possibility there are other applications in the package (e.g. Edge Code, Scout) which need to be installed after the main "build" directory's packages.
    Hope that helps,
    Dominic

  • Silently deploy Acrobat from CS6 source

My organization uses a single key to register our CS6 suite. We have the need to deploy Acrobat seperately from CS6 as not all users need the complete suite. Using Adobe Customization Wizard X and attempting to run the AcroPro.msi using the transform I created which contains our key has not worked as it says the key is invalid. Do we need a seperate key for Acrobat? Should I be using AAMEE to deploy it? Thank you.

You HAVE to deploy it separately, and you should not use AAMEE. Read the Admin Guide (http://www.adobe.com/go/acrobatitinfo) and get the CS doc that describes Acrobat installation when it's bundled with CS.

    Hi Team,

configuration of deploying certificates via auto-enrollment . we have already CA server in our environment.
    Regards, Triyambak

What is the certificate autoenrollment purpose? For 802.1x wireless, 802.1x NAP, etc?
What operating system version is your CA? Note: for autoenrollment, you'll need a minimum v2 certificate template to create it from. The operating systems that CA must be installed on to get a v2 template are:
    Windows 2003 Enterprise (not Standard)
    Windows 2008 Enterprise (not Standard)
    Windows 2008 R2 Standard & Enterprise
Windows 2012/2012 R2 Standard and Datacenter
Here are some links on it, including a step by step I created a few years ago using Windows 2003 with an 802.1x implementation:
