Using h:commandLink redisplays page

I have JavaServer Faces running, however, I am having an issue with <h:commandLink>. When I select the link, it simply redisplays the page. I have already tried to set the content type, yet, it still redisplays the page. (http://www.crazysquirrel.com/computing/java/jsf/command-links.jspx) Any ideas would be awesome! Thanks!
Here is my simple index.jsp:
<%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f"%>
<%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h"%>
<html>
    <f:view>
        <head>
            <%@ include file="includes/header.jsp"%>
        </head>
        <body>
          <h:form>
            <h:commandLink action="admin">
                <h:outputText value="Hello" />
            </h:commandLink>
            </h:form>
        <body>
    </f:view>
</html>This is my faces-config.xml file:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE faces-config PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD JavaServer Faces Config 1.1//EN" "http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-facesconfig_1_1.dtd">
<faces-config>
    <navigation-rule>
        <from-view-id>/*</from-view-id>
        <navigation-case>
            <from-outcome>calendar</from-outcome>
            <to-view-id>/index.jsp</to-view-id>
        </navigation-case>
        <navigation-case>
            <from-outcome>admin</from-outcome>
            <to-view-id>/admin.jsp</to-view-id>
            <redirect />
        </navigation-case>
    </navigation-rule>

        <managed-bean-class>net.sf.vistigator.util.CalendarUtil</managed-bean-class>
        <managed-bean-scope>session</managed-bean-scope>
    </managed-bean>
</faces-config>

Wow! That worked when I removed the include directive. The only problem is that the include directive for the page is needed. When I use <c:import> or <jsp:include> it doesn't really include it correctly.
Is there some special way I'm supposed to import JSF pages?
Thanks again!

  • How do I open a page in new window using af:commandLink?

    Hi,
    I have a requirement where I need to open the page in a new window on clicking the af:commandLink.
    I could use af:goLink, but I cannot as I have to invoke the URL using http POST method. If I use af:goLink, all the parameters will be displayed in the URL. I do not want that.
    I have the below code for the commandLink:
    <af:commandLink text="Open new window" id="cl199bk"
    styleClass="AFRighColLinkText"
    action="dialog:openNewWindow"
    useWindow="true" windowHeight="400"
    windowWidth="800" immediate="true"/>
    When I click the commandLink, the page gets opened but in the same window. I have the below controlflow-case in my taskflow:
    <control-flow-case id="__71">
    <from-outcome id="__133">dialog:openNewWindow</from-outcome>
    <to-activity-id id="__72">openNewWindow</to-activity-id>
    </control-flow-case>
    Please let me know what to do to have the page opened in new window/tab.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Frank,
    I tried that too and the page always opened in the same page even with dialog:action set and useWindow set to true. I had the navigation rule in adfc-config as well.
    I got it done using the url-view activity.
    I have created a new bounded task flow with the url-view activity as the default activity. I called this new task flow from the actionListener bean method on commandLink. Set the new task flow to url-invoke-allowed.
    I have my parameters set in the url-view activity. With this the parameters are not shown in the URL.
    That did the trick for me.
    Thanks.

  • Form onsubmit ignored when using h:commandLink

    Hi
    I was looking for a way to catch all form submission in javascript by automatically setting a method to each form.onsubmit. But I ran into trouble with h:commandLink.
    I tested using a simple example:
    <h:form onsubmit="alert(123);">
    <h:commandButton value="commandButton"/>
    <h:commandLink value="commandLink"/>
    </h:form>Using this code, clicking the commandButton will display and alert with 123. But when clicking the commandLink, the onsubmit is ignored. The commandLink submit the form by javascript code using the form.submit() method. I tested it out (with firefox) and it seem to be the normal behavior... the onsubmit event is not triggered, unliked at normal <input type="submit"/> (like the commandButton).
    Looking at the javascript used the commandLink, I could see that it is completely ignoring the possibility that the user specified a onsubmit:
    //com/sun/faces/sunjsf.js
    function jsfcljs(f, pvp, t) {
        apf(f, pvp);
        var ft = f.target;
        if (t) {
            f.target = t;
        f.submit();
        f.target = ft;
        dpf(f);
    };Wouldn't it make more sense to verify if a onsubmit method was set on the form and execute it before submitting the form?
    function jsfcljs(f, pvp, t) {
        apf(f, pvp);
        var ft = f.target;
        if (t) {
            f.target = t;
         if (typeof(f.onsubmit) == "function") {
              var os = f.onsubmit();
              if (os != undefined && os == false) {
                   return false
        f.submit();
        f.target = ft;
        dpf(f);
    };The behavior of the commandLink would then match the JSF-API description:
    Tag commandLink : "Render an HTML "a" anchor element that acts like a form submit button when clicked."

    Wow! That worked when I removed the include directive. The only problem is that the include directive for the page is needed. When I use <c:import> or <jsp:include> it doesn't really include it correctly.

  • Sum of LineCount Including Groups and Detail Data On Each Page Used To Generate New Page If TotalPageLineCount 28

    Post Author: tadj188#
    CA Forum: Formula
    Needed: Sum of LineCount Including Groups and Detail Data On Each Page Used To Generate New Page If TotalPageLineCount > 28
    Background:
    1) Report SQL is created with unions to have detail lines continue on a page, until it reaches page footer or report footer, rather than using  subreports.    A subreport report is now essentially a group1a, group1b, etc. (containing column headers and other data within the the report    with their respective detail lines).  I had multiple subreports and each subreport became one union.
    Created and tested, already:
    1) I have calculated @TotalLineForEachOfTheSameGroup, now I need to sum of the individual same group totals to get the total line count on a page.
    Issue:
    1) I need this to create break on a certain line before, it dribbles in to a pre-printed area.
    Other Ideas Appreciated:
    1) Groups/detail lines break inconveniently(dribble) into the pre-printed area, looking for alternatives for above situation.
    Thank you.

  • How can i use my custom login page in a custom partner application ?

    Dear All,
    I'm trying to customize a login page displayed other than the default sso login page
    by submiting my form to the regular pl/sql procedure : "PORTAL.wwptl_login.login_url"
    but i tried to type the requested partner application url in the browser i got the sso
    login page other than my custom login page. So, How can i use my custom login page in a custom partner application ?
    Regards,
    Mohammed Amin
    [email protected]

    I cannot begin to express my level of frustration. I have been trying to use the composition widget light box display for some time now. I drag the widget to my document. The default widget has three small trigger boxes and a large area made up of a forward and backward button, a background, a text box and a frame for your image.
    My steps have been …
    I click on the little trigger box.
    I click on the frame that holds the main image.
    I go to the fill menu and browse my computer for my image and then click OK.
    IT shows up on my screen. Yay
    I attempt to continue using the next two trigger boxes provided in the widget.
    After that, I add more by clicking on the little plus sign.
    This is where all heck breaks loose.
    Every single time I attempt to add thumbnails, something messes up. When I go to preview, either not all of my main images show up, or it starts with the wrong one, or some are missing. I have looked and looked for help on this and the only thing I can find is how easy it is to create a great portfolio lightbox display.  But as we know, that only works when your thumbnails are the same image as the images in your lightbox. If you want something different, you have to use the composition wizard. I am finding it extremely difficult and confusing to customize.
    Is there an exact sequence you need to use to add images to the slideshow? I am my wits end.

  • Passing object as parameter in JSF using h:commandLink tag

    Hi ,
    I have a scenario in which i need to pass objects from one jsp to another using h:commandLink. i read balusC article "Communication in JSF" and found a basic idea of achieving it. Thanks to BalusC for the wonderful article. But i am not fully clear on the concepts and the code is giving some error. The code i have is
    My JSP:
    This commandlink is inside a <h:column> tag of <h:dataTable>
    <h:commandLink id="ol3"action="ManageAccount" actionListener="#{admincontroller.action}" >
                   <f:param id="ag" name="account" value="#{admincontroller.account}" />
                   <h:outputText id="ot3" value="Manage Account" rendered="#{adminbean.productList!=null}" />
                   </h:commandLink>
    Also a binding in h:dataTable tag with the  binding="#{admincontroller.dataTable}"
                      My Backing Bean:
    public class CompanyAdminController {
              private HtmlDataTable dataTable;
              private Account account=new Account();
    public HtmlDataTable getDataTable() {
            return dataTable;
    public Account getAccount() {
             return this.account;
    public void setAccount(Account account) {
              this.account = account;
          public void action(){
                account= (Account)this.getDataTable().getRowData();
           } faces-config.xml
    <navigation-rule>
        <from-view-id>/compadmin.jsp</from-view-id>
        <navigation-case>
          <from-outcome>ManageAccount</from-outcome>
          <to-view-id>/manageAccount.jsp</to-view-id>
        </navigation-case>
      </navigation-rule>
    <managed-bean>
              <managed-bean-name>admincontroller</managed-bean-name>
              <managed-bean-class>com.forrester.AdminController</managed-bean-class>
              <managed-bean-scope>request</managed-bean-scope>
              <managed-property>
                   <property-name>account</property-name>
                   <property-class>com.model.Account</property-class>
                   <value>#{param.account}</value>
             </managed-property>
         </managed-bean>My account object:
    public class Account {
    string name;
      public String getName()
        return this.name;
      public void setName(String name)
           this.name=name;
      }I need to display #{admincontroller.account.name} in my forwarded jsp. But I am not sure whether the code i wrote in commandlink is correct. I get an error if i use <f:setActionListener> . No tag "setPropertyActionListener" defined in tag library imported with prefix "f"
    Please advise.

    Yes.. iam removed the managedproperty from faces-config. But still i get the null pointer exception on main jsp itself and i am taken to second jsp manageaccount.jsp. Did you find anything wrong in my navigation case in the action method??
                                     public String loadAccount(){
               Account account = (Account)this.getDataTable().getRowData();
                return "ManageAcct";And also can you please answer this question i have
    The AdminController is the backing bean of 1st JSP and manageAccontController is the backing bean of forwarded JSP .
    Can i put this action method and dataTable binding in a 2nd manageAccontController backing bean instead of AdminController. But if i do that way dataList binding in h:dataTable tag will be in first JSP backing bean and dataTable binding to 2nd JSP. Not sure how to deal with this.

  • Why am I unable to use some fonts in Pages '09 since upgrading to Pages 5?

    I upgraded to the new Pages and regretted it immediately because it doesn't have a lot of features I am used to and which I need. (The marketing blurb only mentioned what it could do, and omitted to mention how many functions had been removed, otherwise I wouldn't have upgraded.) As a result I decided I wouldn't use Pages 5 until it (hopefully) catches up with the functionality of the older version.
    However, the upgrade appears to have done something to corrupt some of my fonts in Pages '09. This means that files I created in Pages '09 cannot now be printed because I get 'gobbledegook' instead of the font I chose (Academy Engraved for one).
    I can set a new document in Pages 5 in Academy Engraved but if I then export it into Pages '09 it reverts to gobbledegook. I cannot simply replicate my old Pages '09 files in Pages 5 because the functionality I need isn't there. So I have a lot of files in Pages '09 that I can't print, and I am very frustrated.
    I have validated the Academy Engraved font in Font Book and it was fine. Can anyone suggest anything else I can try please?
    Many thanks.

    Thank you for that, but I'm afraid I muddied the waters by mentioning that alert. I am aware of Gatekeeper, but the point was it was a Pages document not an app so I shouldn't have got that message at all. If anything, I should have got the "You need a newer version of Pages" message. However, I'll live with that one for the time being.
    It's the font problem that I'm really concerned with. If I open a new document in Pages '09 I can no longer use Academy Engraved font, it just looks like gobbledegook. Neither can I read Academy Engraved font in any of my old Pages '09 documents. However, Academy Engraved font works fine in Pages 5. So by upgrading needlessly to Pages 5 I can no longer use Academy Engraved in Pages '09. That's my main problem.

  • Why does firefox hang up and say it "got confused", when I try to switch from using facebook as myself to using facebook as a page I manage?

    firefox hangs up and says it "got confused", when I try to switch from using facebook as myself to using facebook as a page I manage.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
    In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

  • Why does my printer only use 25% of the page and shrink to fit?

    when i print certain things it only uses 25% of the page. It is so small i can't read it. If i go to print preview and modify the size, it puts it on multiple pages. I can't figure out how to change any settings.

    Firefox extracts the paper size information from your Windows printer settings, so that's the first thing to check. In the print dialog, if you click the Properties button and review the dialog for your printer, do you have a small paper size selected and can you update it?
    If Windows is correct and Firefox is mistaken, you can reset the stored paper size using the about:config preferences editor.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box that appears above the list, type or paste '''paper''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Look for your printer's paper-related settings and then right-click and choose Reset for each (e.g., size, height, width, etc.).
    If you return to your document and try Print Preview, does Firefox compute the correct size?

  • Howto use comments in JSF pages

    Hi all,
    I play a little bit with JSF, at the moment. I wonder that I cannot find any information about how to comment out a part of a JSF page, that it is not rendered.
    If I use the html comment tags <!-- --> then this part is already rendered if I access the page.
    If I want to comment out an invalid part, the execution will fails :(.
    So is there a comment tag in JSF, which is not be rendered if a page is access?
    Thank in advance
    Marco

    I'm sure you must have found a way by now, but to anyone who also has this problem (like myself :D) you can do the following.. I'm using Facelets as XHTML pages, and I didn't find a way of allow the JSP style comments:
    <%--    --%>But if you add the below to your web.xml, you can allow Facelets to skip HTML comments:
    <context-param>
        <param-name>facelets.SKIP_COMMENTS</param-name>
        <param-value>true</param-value>
      </context-param>So with the above in your web.xml, the below:
    First line: #{person.id}
    <!-- Second Line: #{person.id} -->would generate, assuming the person bean's id property is 5:
    First line: 5

  • Can the 100% browser width function be used in non-master pages?

    Can the 100% browser width function be used in non-master pages? I watched the video about pulling it to the red edges, and did that on some of my parent pages, but when I preview the page in browser, it doesn't work. I can still see my browser edges.
    The idea for the website I am designing is to have different full browser width images for different pages, and I'm looking for a way to do that. I would create a different master for each page, but there are more than 20 pages...too many master pages! Thanks!

    Hi Lindsey,
    The 100% width feature works with rectangles and text frames on both master pages as well as regular pages. It doesn't work with images in either case. A possible workaround would be to use a rectangle with a background image, depending on the nature of your image.

    Nathan
