Yes you will be able to use your camcorder as a web cam. To do that you will first have to turn off the Power Save Mode in your camcorder which you will find it Under the General Settings of your Menu. It is neccessary to turn off the Power Save so that your camcorder does not shut down automatically while using it as a webcam. Also plug the AC power adapter for the camcorder into a working electrical outlet so that the battery does not drain while using it.Connect the supplied composite video cable to the A/Vjack on the camcorder.Connect the other end of the composite video cable to the VIDEO IN jack on the computer.Turn on the camera.Turn on the computer.Start the Webcam application to be used. After downloading OSX 10.8.5 I can´t use the camera with Skype.

After installing OSX 10.8.5 I can´t use the camera with Skype. Incoming video works just fine. Problem is my camera doesn´t turn on automaticly and all camera text in Skype menus are greyed out. Camera still works with facetime and photoboth and so on, so no problem with the actual camera.
Please help, Im in Kabul Afghanistan, I have my support in Sweden!

FIX:
1. You need Time Machine
2. Go to folder /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/
3. Copy AppleCamera.plugin to good place (usb memory stick is the best place).
4. Go to Time machine in date that skype work fine.
5. Change AppleCamera.plugin with file from Time Machine
6. Restart system, Now skype need to work with camera.

How to use photo booth with skype???

I can't seem to figure out how to use the photo booth effects with Skype. I would just use iChat but my husband is on a PC and I am on TDY for the military with my MacBook.

There is a folder called Compositions in the system side of things that booth Apple apps of Photo Booth and iChat can access for the Video Effects (And Backdrops on Intel computers in iChat)
Third Party apps such as Skype do not access this folder and therefore do not have Effects.
(there may be a Skype add-on that has them but I don't use it so I don't know).
It seems CamTwist does work for Skype.
iChat should Video to AIM on a PC (free) (Or Trillian Pro for a small amount).
Results can vary with AIM (Post in iChat if you want to know more) but you would then have access to the same effects Photo Booth has.

For the issue of your CyberLink You Cam not working with Skype. To confirm is the WebCam able to work with other program? I have also included two documents for you. The first one is 'How do I use CyberLink YouCam with my Skype?'. This will make sure that the settings are correct. The second one is a thread on the Skype forum with some excellent troubleshooting 'CyberLink YouCam'.

Using Nokia headset with Skype

Is is possible to use my HDW-3 headset with Skype? My laptop's bluetooth enabled & I can pair the headset qwith it. I don't know how to tell Skype to use the headset (if it's possible).

basicly you need to find a way to make sure you are NOT using the microsoft bluetooth stack which has no support for a bluetooth headset. skype now sells a nice motorola kit from its store as well that does everything for you if you dont want to get to technical.

Using EZCap 116 with Skype

Hi Guys,
Can someone help me on using my EZCap 116 with Skype?
I have it connected to a Sony HandyCam and it works in OBS XSplit and other programs like that.
But when i enable it in Skype it says "Cant connect to webcam" or something like that.
Why does it do that?
It also just shows a black screen with Google Hangouts.
I am on Windows 7 64-bit.
I have all the drivers and things installed.

Using web cam with skype but not receiving image from PC

I've just downloaded skype and asked my son to do the same as we got nowhere with messenger, in the hope to be able to chat to him and see each other. He can see me but I cannot see him and his webcam says "error in trying to connect to ...'. Is this something to do with his webcam or the fact that I am using a Mac?

Using my system ichat audio and video Mac to Mac works well. (My AIM screen name is [email protected]) Using Skype audio with Microsoft friends works well too. (My AIM screen name is xxxx_xxxx)
I cannot make ichat video work with my Microsoft friends who are using Skype video.
I have set up my Microsoft Skype friends in ichat buddies but they are never shown on line when I know they are there because I can see the using Skype.
If I change my ichat AIM screen name to xxxx_xxxx and re log on in ichat I consistently receive the following error message “Could not connect to AIM. Try again. The server message was Auth:BadDbStatus”
Apologies if there is a simple answer but I have just lost the plot with this now! Thanks in advance...
Power Book G4 Mac OS X (10.3.9) I have an isight webcam, ichat AV 2.1 (v153) and I have downloaded Skype version 1.4.0.35.

Do you use your iSite camera (just the microphone / speaker) when chatting through Skype to your Microsoft friends ? This is what I'm setting up now and need help !
I'm having a conference in my office and my business partner is overseas and would like to be included in the conversation. Just by using the speaker and microphone on the iSite via Skype's system, will this work ?

Is using a proxy with Skype secure?

As in, would I have to worry about the data being comprimised/etc if the proxy was devious.

I tried that just after I posted my first message and forgot to update the post. That does not work either. I am starting to believe that this is a problem with the Apache SOAP traffic. Using audio mixer with Skype

I was wondering if it is possible to take an incoming Skype conference call and split it into separate inputs at lead into an audio mixer all on one computer. I this possible? Thanks

Adressbook dialing with skype to phone stopped working

For a long time I could use macbook pro adressbook to call directly from there to external phone numbers. Since a few days kype had a problem, it did ring once, but never got a connection. Now it works again, but I cannot call from the adressbook.
Interestingly, Skype support did write me, you cannot call from the mac adressbook, but the funkction is definitely there (and worked) as there is the drop down menu, with the buttons: enlarge, call with skype, send sms with skype.
Any one can help me on this?

Whatever it is you used to do with Skype it ain't there anymore as per the Skype support information. Complain to them.
