Hi,
Here is my problem: in BI7, I want to select a hierarchy node with and only 1 or 2 of the u201Csonsu201D but I always get ALL the sub-nodes and elements underneath
Can somebody tell me how to exclude the elements of the hierarchy I donu2019t need.

  • Use hierarchy in report

    Exp :
    Hierarchy at my R/3 is like this :
    revenue
    cogs
    operating expenses
    etc...
    where I want to have report like this :
    revenue
    cogs
    --gross profit ( revenue - cogs )
    operating expenses
    etc...
    please advice on how to add --gross profit in my BW report

    Hi,
    If you want to use hierarcy and hierarchy properties in your query it is impossible to add these kind of calculations in hierarchy.
    But if this hierarcy is just for classification and your nodes are fixed, then you can create restricted key figures for each node coming from hierarchy and you can create formulas with using this key restricted keyfigures.
    Creating Restricted Key Figures:
    1. In the InfoProvider screen area, select the Key Figures entry and choose New Restricted Key Figure from the context menu (secondary mouse button).
    If a restricted key figure has already been defined for this InfoProvider, you can also select the Restricted Key Figures entry and then choose New Restricted Key Figure from the context menu.
    The entry New Restricted Key Figure is inserted and the properties for the restricted key figure are displayed in the Properties screen area.
    2. Select the New Restricted Key Figure entry and choose Edit from the context menu (secondary mouse button).
    The Change Restricted Key Figure dialog box appears.
    You can also call the Change Restricted Key Figure dialog box from the Properties screen area by choosing the Edit pushbutton.
    You make the basic settings on the General tab page.
    Underneath the text field, to the left of the Detail View area, the directory of all objects available in the InfoProvider is displayed. The empty field for defining the restricted key figure (Details of the Selection) is on the right-hand side of the screen.
    3. Using drag and drop, choose a key figure from the InfoProvider and restrict it by selecting one or more characteristic values. YOU WILL SELECT YOUR HIERARCHY FOR YOUR CHARACTERISTIC HERE
    4. Make any necessary settings for the properties of the restricted key figure on the other tab pages.
    5. Choose OK. The new restricted key figure is defined for the InfoProvider.
    Creating Calculated Key Figures:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/EN/13/e072abaddb574284d22361f0b824bf/content.htm
    This is a way to include calculations and hierarchy nodes coming from R/3 together.
    Hope this helps...

  • Wrapping Crosstab using SAP Hierarchy in Crystal Reports

    Hi Experts,
    hope you are fine!
    Need some advice and helpful hints achieving my goal.
    Frontend Tool: Crystal Reports for Enterprise SP2 or even Crystal Reports 2008.
    DataSource is BEx Query with Profit Center Hier. in columns and a cost type structure in Rows.
    Using a Cross Tab and selecting the PC in columns, results in that Crystal is displaying the hierarchy as it is, which is actually good.
    But not readable if you have more than 150 child nodes and more than 15 Levels.
    I am looking for a optimized way to display such a scenario.
    Whtin this lesson the mentor is explaining how to wrap columns within crosstabs.
    Link: [http://www.crystalkeen.com/articles/crystalreports/crosstabwrapping.htm]
    The formula @EachRegion is counting the rows and the formula @GroupRegions is than defining the number of regions to be displayed in the columns.
    I was looking to replace the formula @EachRegion with the HierarchyLevel(GroupingLevel) function which is delivering the same result, but due to any reason I can not group on this formula.
    My intention was grouping on the level number and  keep all nodes on the samel level together so the wrapping should happen level wise. The report finally should look like this using a cross tab:
    Group 1                               level 0
                cost a                       50
                cost b                       20
    Group 2                               level 1
               cost a
               cost b
    Or do you have other option to have a better view on this, maybe using subreports or anything what Crystal is offering?
    Apologize if this sounds a bit confusing, but your hints are much appreciated.
    Thanks and bye

    Hi Debi,
    thanks for your reply.
    The formula for grouping purposes is: HierarchyLevel(GroupingLevel({ZTEMP_Profit-Center\Profit-Center}))
    The result is that for each node the level number is displayed.
    I tried to put in the detail section or grouping section thinking that it should be used first in the report somewhere but wo success.
    appreacite your response.
    bye

  • Use of Hierarchy - and GOTO report based on it

    Hi
    I have a infoobject that uses an organisation unit hierarchy (0ORGUNIT). I use this in a report that also has a GOTO report connected. Both report has the 0ORGUNIT and its hierarchy.
    When I navigate down in the hierarchy, II do a GOTO in a value in the hierarchy, and the filters will be taken into the GOTO report. But....
    WHen i navigate myself down to the lowest level of information in the hierarchy, and on that levell rightclick and to a GOTO, the filters on the 0ORGUNIT (and the hierarchy) does not applies on the GOTO report. All other filters are applied on te GOTO report, but not the hierarchy.
    In the GOTO report I tried to click on the "Filter" button beside the name, and it is empthy. I can't sellected anything.
    I also get the message:
    Diagnosis
    Node restrictions are only permitted for a characteristic with active presentation hierarchy by a node of another hierarchy and end node restrictions.
    You have tried to filter a characteristic with active presentation hierarchy using a node of another hierarchy or a range selection (for example, interval, contain pattern).
    This can take place by toggling the hierarchy or, for example, by using the report interface.

  • Hiding hierarchy level in Report (Query Designer)

    Hallo Experts,
    I am working on a hierarchy structure. I use the activate Hierarchy Display in the Query Designer. I try to expand my query till level "2".
    But I actually want only the 2 level report and the 1st level should be hidden. Can anyone guide me how this can be done.
    Thanks in advance
    Santosh

    Hello Santosh,
    You can have Level 2 as an InfoObject that will be attached to 0MATERIAL as a navigational attribute. Then you can use this in your report and and create a condition on it.
    Thanks.

  • How do I use the Oracle Developer Reporting Control in Visual Basic 6.0?

    I was wondering how to use the Oracle Developer Reporting Control componant in Visual Basic 6.0 to generate reports in Oracle Reports? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Rohit,
    Would like to ask you some questions about the oracle report with Visual Basic.
    1. I have a report built in oracle report. Currently there is a Visual Basic program want to pass some parameter to this report. Can Visual Basic program pass the parameter to this oracel report?
    2. Based on yr answer, do i have to installed the oracle report? or just copy and register the Rwsxa60.ocx (i'm using oracle report 6i) in the PC? So can i use this activeX control.
    3. Is this activeX control similar to Crystal report object which can found in VB?
    4. Is there an example/guide on how the Visual Basic pass the parameter to oracel form?
    Your answer will be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Query Stripping not working properly when using variable in the report

    We have issue with WEBI document that have query stripping enable.
    Once the query stripping enabled there is no data return in the report.
    We have investigate on the problem, the query stripping function are notable to retrieve objects that indirectly used in the report
    as we have
    many variable in the reports.
    Ex.
    Var1 = object1 + object2
    Var2 = Object3 + Object4
    Var3 = Var1 + Var2
    Var4 = Object1 + Object2 + Object3 + Object4
    If we use only Var3 in the report, the object1,2,3,and 4 will not be
    retrieve.
    But if we are using Var4 in the report, the object1,2,3,and 4 will be
    retrieve properly.
    Please let me know is it a by-design behavior, if yes please share points on it

    Hi Amit,
    Thank you for response, however i already had alook on that VIdeo and it tells us about the basic enabling of query stripping.
    But my question is when we have a Variable in a report which is dependent on the other two variables it gives me #error so is it by design or not.

  • Attention!!-don't use OLE object in Reports

    If you are planning to use or is currently using OLE objects in Reports-please don't use it as the object maynot reload in future and your report may not even open in Report Builder.I got this message when opening the report containing OLE object:
    REP-4004: Error occurred while restoring OLE object
    and it refused to open up crashing my days of work.
    The pity is I can't open my report even to remove the OLE object.

    I know that is weird.I placed the object in the same directory-but in vain.Afterall, what's the logic of putting it in the same directory after embedding it?

  • How to use lexical parameter in report

    i want to use lexical parameter in report and pass parameter from form how it is possible in detail
    A.R

    Hi,
    typically you fill your lexical paramter in the after-paramform-trigger out of the values of your bind-parameters (giving end users directly control over lexical parameters might not be a good idea). Inside PL/SQL a lexical parameter is referenced like bind parameters with ":". In the query it's referenced via "&" and represents a part of the query.
    A simple example.
    - p_deptno as bind parameter
    - p_where as lexical paramter
    - end user choose value for p_deptno (10,20,... or nothing)
    - Trigger: if :p_deptno is not null then
    :p_where := 'WHERE deptno = :p_deptno'
    else
    :p_where := null;
    end if;
    - Query select ... from emp &p_where

  • Can I put a SQL query into a bind variable and then use it to output report

    Hi,
    Can I put a SQL query into a bind variable and then use it to output report?
    I want to create a report and an item "text area" (say P1_TEXT) which can let user to input a SQL query(they are all technical users and knows SQL very well). Then, I use a bind variable (that text area) to store the SQL statement. Then, I add a submit button and I want to use the following to output the report:
    select * from (:P1_TEXT);
    Do you think it is possible to do that? Any known limitations for APEX in this area?
    Thanks a lot,
    Angela

    You can, but make sure it's what you really want to do. Make sure you are VERY familiar with SQL Injection. Most people who know what it is, go out of their way to prevent SQL Injection. You're going out of your way to allow it.
    You can try using &P1_TEXT. instead of bind variable syntax. Bind variables are one of the best ways to prevent SQL Injection, which is why it's not working for you.
    Once again, I strongly urge you to consider the implications of your app, but this suggestion should get it working.

    I have done In-place upgrade of OBIEE from 11.1.1.5 to 11.1.1.7. Afterthat installed 11.1.1.7.1 patchset also.
    Dashboard prompts were created by using hierarchy column. While applying hierarchy prompt i am getting below error

  • Creation of Generic Data source using function module based on the program which was used to created ABAP report

    Hi,
    We have a requirement to create a BI report based on plant maintenance report. The plant maintenance report is based on a ABAP program with complex logic. My question is i want create a Generic Datasource using Function module and can I include the logic(Abap Program) that is used for plant maintenance report in the function module? Please share your thoughts.
    Thanks,
    Ravi

    Hi,
    Step1-Create a table structure which you need to create same as the fields you require in you data source.
    Step 2-create a custom abap program and inside that call the Client abap program with the selections as required and save the result data in some table
    Step 3-create infoset query.In the infoset query give your table structure name and  program name which you developed.
    Step4-create data source on top of that query

  • How to use Value Variable in Report Painter Column defined as Formula

    Hi Gurus,
    In report painter, how can I add one field (exchange rate) in selection screen, so that user can provide the exchange rate to be used, then execute the report, the exchange rate will used to multiple local currency amount.
    The reason for this is we want use provided exchange rate to convert the amount from once currency to the other currency.
    Alternatively I am studying the functionality of "Value Variable" and found that I can perform the task from this. I have created the value variable but when I am using the variable in Report Painter columns as "&ZVALVAR", system is giving me error. I read the help and it states that use the variable with "&" and do it as it is mentioned.
    Can anybody suggest what I need to do to make it workable.
    Thanks

    I did try using the presentation variable, but that does not work too. I am setting session variable in the dashboard prompt (select 'request variable'). When I use presentation variable, it hard codes the value of the variable name.
    sql is
    select date from work_order where facility = @{p_facility}
    the physical log sql is
    select date from work_order where facility = 'p_facility'
