Using HTTPs with webmail

If I use HTTPs with webmail it seems it pulls the whole site to HTTPs. That is to port 4xx.
Is this assumption correct?
If so. Would the solution then be to create a new site entry in the webtab for webmail only to prevent our regular website from being pulled to port 4xx.
And then create an entry like webmail.mydomain.is in the DNS.
If so is it possible to let the external mail relay server retrieve data from the internal server or would it be logical to point the DNS entry to the internal servers HTTPs port?
Hans

The "Webmail" check box just creates an alias so that if that site has /webmail in the URL, it accesses the squirrelmail directory (usr/share/squirrelmail).
Here's my preferred setup:
- Assumes your server fqdn and your ssl cert common name are: mail.domain.com
- Open 80 & 443 in firewall/nat
- Create a site for mail.domain.com.
Port 80
No Options Checked (not webmail either)
In the Alias tab, add a redirect (the lower box)
Type: Redirect
Pattern: /
Path: https://mail.domain.com
(notice above is https)
- Create another site for mail.domain.com and the squirrelmail login.
Port 443 (SSL)
Path: /usr/share/squirrelmail
Be sure to select your IP address, don't leave it on <any>
Options: none
Setup your certificate
Now, when you go to:
http://mail.domain.com
you will be automatically redirected to:
https://mail.domain.com

• How do I use HTTPS with iMQ 2.0?

Our business requirement mandates that we have to use tunneling in a SECURE way, i.e. we have to use HTTPS tunneling.
Certainly this requires JMQ client code to open SSL socket instead of plain socket and also requires Web server to be configured and provides some management function to deal with
I like to believe that we are not the only one asking such a feature. Is it doable with JMQ? Is this in the work?

Deploying the JMQ2.0 HTTP Tunneling servlet on an https url will enable a
secure connection from the client to the webserver. However, the tunneling
servlet connection to the broker in JMQ2.0 is via a regular TCP connection and
not via SSL.
In our next major release we are adding the feature that provides a secure
connection right from the client through the tunneling servlet (https) and on
to the broker via SSL.
We will (soon) have a beta version available.

• How to use HTTPS with JSSE URLConnection in servlet

Hi, I have a servlet that calls another servlet using the URLConnection class. This seems to work very well if I am using http. However when trying to call it using https using JSSE I get the following error:
"javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: untrusted server cert chain."
The following is the code that I am using in the servlet:
              java.security.Security.addProvider(new com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Provider());
              System.getProperties().put("java.protocol.handler.pkgs", "com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol");
              this.servlet = new URL(servletURL);
              URLConnection conServlet = servlet.openConnection();
Both of these servlets are under IIS on my machine. I am able to execute each of the servlets from the browser using https directly. Does this sounds like an SSL certifcate problem or is that something in the Java code? Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Perhaps you can create your own trust manager. I've found this example in another newsgroup: (please note that this example trusts everyone, but you can modify the trust manager as you wish)
if (putUrl.startsWith("https"))
      //set up to handle SSL if necessary
      System.setProperty("java.protocol.handler.pkgs", "com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol");
      System.setProperty("javax.net.debug", "ssl,handshake,data,trustmanager");
      Security.addProvider(new com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Provider());
      //use our own trust manager so we can always trust
      //the URL entered in the configuration.
      X509TrustManager tm = new MyX509TrustManager();
      KeyManager []km = null;
      TrustManager []tma = {tm};
      SSLContext sc = SSLContext.getInstance("ssl");
      sc.init(km,tma,new java.security.SecureRandom());
      SSLSocketFactory sf1 = sc.getSocketFactory();
      HttpsURLConnection.setDefaultSSLSocketFactory (sf1);
m_url = new URL (putUrl);
class MyX509TrustManager implements X509TrustManager {
public boolean isClientTrusted(X509Certificate[] chain) {
      return true;
public boolean isServerTrusted(X509Certificate[] chain) {
      return true;
public X509Certificate[] getAcceptedIssuers() {
      return null;
}Hope this helps,

• How to make call to Sender Soap Adapter using HTTPS with Client Aut

Hello everyone, I have spent some time trying to get this to work. We downloaded a trail certificate from SAP and installed it on our machine and I created a webservice that works great. I tested the HTTPS without client authentification and it works great, as soon as I change it to use with Client Authentification I can't get it to go through. I am using Soap Sonar to test the certificates. To get the certificate I called the url with firefox then saved the certificate in my trust store, from there I import it to soap sonar as a signed certificate, but I am getting the error  <Exception>Object contains only the public half of a key pair. A private key must also be provided.</Exception>  I assume I am doing something way wrong, is there a way to get the certificate with both public and private key pair, or a way to test this that I can't seem to find in documentation or blogs?
I def award points

The manual says that HTTPS protocol is supported, but I can't seem to find any more information than that. Has anyone set up their HTTP or HTTPIWA2 Adapter/Agent to have secure HTTPS traffic? Did you have to configure the sslconfig.properties on the application server? Any info would be appreciated. We got the unsecure web service calls working, but may have to change to HTTPS.

A SSL certificate from the application you are connecting to is required. That SSL certificate needs to be loaded into the ServiceLink JVM keystore file using the Java provided 'keytool' utility. Once the right type of SSL certificate (sometimes you need a signed root certificate) has been registered using keytool and ServiceLink restarted, the HTTPS connection should be established.

Thanks! I have a couple of more questions...
1) Do you have to do anything with the sslconfig.properties in the D:\newScale2008.3\jboss-4.2.3.GA\server\ServiceLink\deploy\ISEE.war\WEB-INF\classes directory or does the "keytool" utility take care of that?

• Sent data as an HTML form using HTTP with Prolog

Hello,
I am trying to sent data to a marketplaces via HTTP Post like it is described in the online documentation ( http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/14/80243b4a66ae0ce10000000a11402f/frameset.htm ) but it doesn't work.
I am trying to send 2 Post variables. An account ID and the content (an IDoc)
I made the following entry in the prolog:
id=abc&content=
I wrote a short php-Script to check weather the variables are sent correctly..
<?php
$id = $_POST['id'];
$content = $_POST['content'];
$filename = "Filename ".$id.".xml";
/* Open a new File */
$fp = fopen($filename,"w");
fwrite($fp,$content);
/* Close file */
fclose($fp);
?>
This script just creates a new file with the id as the filename and the content as the content of the file.
When I run the test, the script receives no variables...
Is there something wrong with the prolog?

Thomas,
did you try <b>&</b>id=abc&content= ?
Just to stick to the documentation....
Did you play with a <i>?</i> - may also help.
Finally - did you try with a manually entered post (e.g. via telnet) whether your php is correct. But I assume you know what you do....

• HTTPS with Client Authentication in SOAP sender Adapter

Hi All,
In SOAP Sender communication channel. When I generate WSDL with “HTTP Security Level = HTTP:” it works when third party tries to send data to XIwebservice.
But when I tried with “HTTPS with Client Authentication” option its giving error
“InfoPath either cannot connect to the data source, the service has timed out, or the server has an invalid certificate.”
Please guide how to use “HTTPS with Client Authentication” option, and what all configuration need to apply in XI & in third party to use this.
Regards

Rohan,
With spy you can trace the entire route, since you are using client authentication using certificate, it would be a better option to verify with the certificate.
You also have the option of using a username/pwd combo though that is not advocated as it lowers security levels and is permeable to passive sniffing.
So the answer to your question is yes, after importing the certificate with sender and third party reciever a test would reveal the complete scenario along with any issues that you could encounter..

• HTTPS with ALE

Can we use HTTPS with ALE to establish a connection between the HR and ERP system?  There are seperate instances for FI and HCM and we require an ALE interface between them.  RFC with SNC is not an option so am wondering if there is an ALE with HTTPS route we can take?  Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Fahad,
As far i know there is no way to using https for ALE without PI. because ALE is base on RFC technology not http / https.
if my knowledge correct then you might need to use other middleware like SAP PI, webMethods, Tipco etc or if not you might need to do some customize scenario using webservices. but both of your ERP and HCM must be at least ECC 6.
for IDOC for example you can set the port to generate xml file. and create program to pickup and send it over soap https to HCM system.
Please correct me if i am wrong.
Regards
Fernand.

• Use HTTPS to access webservice on standalone OC4J

I have followed the instructions in the Oracle Containers for J2EE Security Guide for setting up SSL (Chapter 15) on standalone OC4J. I have also looked at Tugs blog about using HTTPS with web services. I believe I have everything setup right but have a problem.

I can access the default applciation via https just fine but when I try to use https to access the web services I get a 404 Not found error (after first getting a security alert popup). I can still access the services via http though. In the log of the server I have the following errors that occured on startup of OC4J. They pertain to the secure web site and there is an error for each web service. I don't understand what they mean/what the problem is:
<MSG_TEXT>Internal error raised tyring to instantiate web-application: WebServices defined in web site OC4J 10g (10.1.3) Secure Web Site. Anyone know what is going on? TIA!

I found that when I REMOVED the following from the default-web-site.xml
<web-app application="Test-elexnet_service-WS" name="WebServices" load-on-startup="true" root="/Test-elexnet_service-context-root" />

and restarted OC4J, then everything is ok and I don't get any errors. However I can only access the web services via HTTPS and not HTTP.
Anybody got any ideas?

• HTTPS with SOAP adapter

Hi
Can someone clarify something for me:
HTTP with SSL without client authentication -> Is the information still encrypted the same way as with certificates? Do I need to set up something on the SAP/XI side when not using certificates?
If information still is encrypted, why are we using HTTPS with client authentication (certificates). What is the advantage of using certificates compared to user authentication?
Thanks. Your're the best!
regards Marianne

Hi,
HTTP with SSL without client authentication -> Is the information still encrypted the same way as with certificates? Do I need to set up something on the SAP/XI side when not using certificates?
-->Encryption is differnt from  Certificates, Encryption is done to the data that we are passing and Certificates are used for authentication to particular server,so there is no point that information will be encrypted while using certificates. so even we use certifacates we need to encrypt the data.
If information still is encrypted, why are we using HTTPS with client authentication (certificates).
-->we use HTTPS/SOAP for secure data transfer, client authentication is same for HTTP,HTTPS or SOAP.
What is the advantage of using certificates compared to user authentication?
--->Traditionally, users receive access to resources from an application or system based on their user name and password. You can further augment system security by using digital certificates (instead of user names and passwords) to authenticate and authorize sessions between many server applications and users. Also, you can use Digital Certificate Manager (DCM) to associate a user's certificate with that user's iSeries user profile. The certificate then has the same authorizations and permissions as the associated profile.
A digital certificate acts as an electronic credential and verifies that the person presenting it is truly who she claims to be. In this respect, a certificate is similar to a passport. Both establish an individual's identity, contain a unique number for identification purposes, and have a recognizable issuing authority that verifies the credential as authentic. In the case of a certificate, a Certificate Authority (CA) functions as the trusted, third party that issues the certificate and verifies it as an authentic credential.
For authentication purposes, certificates make use of a public key and a related private key. The issuing CA binds these keys, along with other information about the certificate owner, to the certificate itself for identification purposes.

• Using HTTP adapter with no namespaces

Hi,
Is there anyway to use HTTP adapter when the provider does not accept the namespaces. The HTTP binding wizard requires a targetnamespace to be defined in the request and response xsds that we have to use.
Thanks & Regards
Siva

Bernd we are trying to do the same thing only with the soap adapter.  I'm convinced that no one really knows how to do it.  We can't even find an SAP CONSULTANT that has done it .. at any cost!
If you hear anything good .. please let me know - my email is [email protected]
I think the nightmare is coming in because when SAP bought the j2ee ( application server ) they never really have integrated it so it's very confusing if the settings need to be done on the ABAP side or the J2EE side via visual administrator.  In addition most Basis guys are only experienced in the ABAP side and not the J2EE.
