When I have resized and saved an image in Photoshop (CS, version 8.0 for Mac) using image size, why is it so large when I open it in preview or another image viewer? Has it actually saved according to the size I specified?
You want to view the image at the Print Size, which represents the size that shows in the Image>Resize Dialog.
View>Print Size
Since screen resolution is almost always lower that the print resolution (somewhere between 72 and 96 usually), images will always look bigger on the screen, unless you view them at print size.
(apple Retina displays have a much higher resolution than normal screens, closer to the average print size resolution)

Using Calendar Overlays on a Multiple Calendar Views
I have created a calendar with 9 categories. I then created 9 overlays to color-code each category.
This works perfect as long as I am in the default “Calendar” view.
I also have multiple views (up to 24) and a column for the user to select the view(s) to which the calendar event should be added.
For example, there is a view for each Division and Branch.
The user may want the Branch event to also be available in the Division view, so they would select their division and branch from a choice column (check boxes) and the column would contain both values.
The individual views would check to see if the column “contains” the value (division or branch) for that view.
This works fine when viewing in the default “Calendar” view but if I create another view then it is no longer color-coded and my requirement is that every calendar view (all 24) are color-coded.
If I add color coding to one of the other views using overlays, then both the default “Calendar” view and the newly-created view show up on the calendar.
The newly-created view is still only one color but the default “Calendar” view is color-coded and also displayed along with the newly-created view.
So it looks like there is no way to add a color overlay to a view unless it is the default “Calendar” view.
I am trying to avoid building 24 separate calendars and possibly up to 40 workflows to move events between calendars.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Robin,
Thanks for the info. I have attached some jpegs to hopefully make my issue clearer. I'm not clear why you don't want your views to return any data. Seems like it defeats the point of a view? I did as you suggested and added an extra filter
to each view "And Title = x". What this did was remove the duplicate non-color-coded records which are currently in the images (all green).
So I have no overlays for the "Calendar" view and created overlays for the SNA and SNAG views.
Here is the result of the SNA View. The events in green disappeared once I added "And Title = x" to this view. As you can see, all the data from the SNA
AND SNAG views are displayed.
Here is the SNAG View. Again, the events in green have since been removed by adding "And Title = x" to this view.
The forum only allows me to upload two images so I will make a separate post for the final image.

DW8: image won't display in Design View
Folks:
DW8 on MacOS 10.4.8 (fully updated) on Intel iMac.
What would keep an image from displaying in DW Design View?
What are the causes of the grey box with the superimposed "X"? Is
there any diagnostic output that might help? Is the grey box and
"X" substituted by DW8 for an invalid or un-drawable graphic, or is
this done by the OS?
The problem:
I've got a 1912 x 1481 graphic, a geographic map, in AI that
I'm trying to use as an ordinary web image, but DW won't display it
in Design View. Instead all I see is a big grey box and "X". For
test purposes, I'm starting from a new "Basic" HTML web page and
all I'm doing is inserting this one image. I need to get this
working so I can draw hotspots on this graphic to make it
"clickable" .
Here's what I've tried:
o Triple-checking that the inserted image reference is
correct. Yes, the image file is correctly linked. With the image
selected, the inspector shows a tiny but recognizable miniature of
the expected image. Further, when the page and the image are
uploaded to the web server and I look at it via a browser, the
expected image is _always correctly displayed.
o Exporting the graphic "for the web" from AI as both a GIF
and a medium-quality JPG. Neither of these are displayed in Design
View; both are served up correctly after being uploaded
o I found a larger JPG on a different site I'm managing. This
always displays as expected in both DW Design View and when served
up. I substituted the failing map JPG image. The result: A grey
box.
o Checking the map images: The JPG and GIF versions seem to
be visible in all environments (image readers, browsers, etc.) I've
checked _except_ DW8 Design View.
o Checked on another system. I made the failing image
available to a very helpful ACE, who performed a similar
experiment. It worked fine for him. I used his exact HTML and
directory structure -- and it failed for me. Grey box with "X".
It seems to me that I've checked most of the obvious
possibilities. Now it is time to check the less obvious ones.
Suggestions are very welcome!
Thanks,
HenryRandy:
Thanks for your response.
This is a virtual memory system, so -- in theory-- it should
accommodate anything that will fit on the hard drive, more or less,
if I'm wiling to wait the hours (days?) it will take to swap on and
off the disk. That assumes DW8 takes advantage of the capability.
It may not.
"Larger"? The JPG image I compared to is 1692 x 2160 pixels,
but weighs slightly less, 289K bytes. I'm losing track of all my
test images that fail, but a representative one is 1912 x 1481
pixels and weighs 332Kb on the disk. "Roughly comparable" might be
a better description. The point is still reasonable: DW8 does
handle images of this size on my system.
One issue that occurred to me recently is that I may have
caused some grief by monkeying with the "Save for web" settings at
the Illy export. Perhaps I asked for some configuration that's
normal for Illy to export --or it would have warned me, I hope--
but too strange for DW to grok. DW should complain more
informatively than painting a gray box and "X" when that happens, I
would think.

Clarification on order to cash cycle
Hi Experts,
I'm working in EBS 11.5.10. In order to cash cycle, where exactly APIs 'OE_INVOICE_WF' and 'OE_INVOICE_PUB' will be called...and what exactly these APIs will do. Could somebody explain to me in detail functional flow of o2c cycle especially after booking the order. Kindly help me at earliest.
Doubt: Interface trip stop program will use these two APIs internally...
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Raghu.No ITS does not all it internally.
In a typical O2C flow, after the ITS, fulfillment activity happens which is the logical completion of shipping and delivery activities for a SO line. Then the workflow sits at invoice interface activity. oe_invoice_wf is the api that the workflow calls and inside that oe_invoice_pub is called. This is the api that has the invoice interface logic.

Scanning/Printing Documents to PDF using Image Capture
I am trying to scan a document (8.5 x 11) using image capture and then email it so that the recipient can read and print out an identical copy. Even though I can successfully scan the document as a PDF using Image Capture, the document visually appears MUCH larger when the recipient receives and tries to print it. The resulting printed copy shows only a fraction of the total text, but blown up.
I have Image Capture configured as follows:
Scan Mode: Flat Bed
Document: Text
Bit Depth: 1
Resolution: 300
Source Size: 8.50 x 11.00
Scaling: 100%
New Size: 8.50 x 11.00 ;
Format: PDF
When I view a document scanned using the above settings in Preview, it looks fine. The only problem is when I view it in Print Preview and/or print it. Again, it is "blown up". Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong and how to fix it??? Thanks.Try with a resolution of 75 or 150.
Also when printing there are options to "fit to 1 page". The recipient should do that. -
Can I use Image Capture to take a picture using a Canon EOS 10D?
Normally I use a card reader to download digital photos, but today I hooked my camera directly to my iMac. I then noticed the "Take Picture" button, so I tried to use it to take a picture with my Canon EOS 10D. Image Capture didn't refuse, it just showed the 'cogwheel' animated cursor and got stuck. What does this mean - is it that this particular camera won't work or that there is something wrong with the setup? I have other digital cameras, but I don't want to work all this out by experiment alone - how can I find out more about how this feature of IC works and what exactly is going on when I press "Take Picture"? There is absolutely no technical info in the Help files.
The Help on Image Capture has the following:
Many cameras let you take a picture using Image Capture when the camera is connected to your computer.
To take a picture:
Connect your camera and open Image Capture.
Click Download Some.
Click Take Picture.
The camera snaps a picture, which then appears in the window.
If you don’t see the Take Picture icon, choose View > Customize Toolbar, and drag the Take Picture icon to the toolbar.
If the Take Picture icon is dimmed, your camera doesn’t support this feature.
As the option is available to you, your camera supports +Tethered Shooting+. If it’s not working check your camera’s manual to see do you need this enabled on your camera.

Someone just emailed me a TIF scan of an printed image with a color rendtion chart next to it. The chart is "Farbkarte #13" from "B.I.G."
Is there a way of utilising this within Lightroom to ensure I am seeing the scan correctly? (Monitor calibration notwithstanding...)
(I'm entirely amateur and have never used a color rendition chart for anything before. Go easy.)You really aren't helping the OP with the question posted. Film photographers have been using an 80% reflectance gray card for years to help set white balance in the final print. The same procedure can be used very successfully for setting the white balance in a photo editing application such as Lightroom or Photoshop. We now have far more sophisticated tools for not only setting the white balance, but also creating complete camera profile for use in Lightroom. The most notable and affordable is the ColorChecker Passport manufactured by X-Rite.
My recommendation to the OP is to go ahead and "try" the white balance procedure I posted using the LR eyedropper tool. It should work better than "nothing at all!"
I also suggest putting a hardware monitor calibration device high on your list of important items to purchase for your digital imaging workstation. The ColorChecker Passport would be a nice but distant 2nd item on your list. For establishing white balance an inexpensive 90% reflectance card like the below is all that is necessary:
DGK Color Tools Digital Grey Kard
Shoot the 90% card with your digital camera for standard lighting conditions, such as Sunny Daylight, Cloudy, and Indoor Tungsten Lighting. Make sure the card is not over exposed (i.e. between 80% and 95% in LR) in the picture. Then use the eyedropper tool to determine the proper white balance settings in LR for your camera, and save them as Develop Presets. You only need do this once, and it is clearly way better than nothing at all and not expensive! -
I want to know how many minutes were used last billing cycle for calling
my daughter has been calling out of state a lot recently. i want to know previous statement minutes and it also mentioned that out of area calls may not show up on bill right away. so how many minutes has she actually used this billing cycle?
If you are the account owner, you can go online and view the usage for each line on your account. For calls, you can go back 12 months and see the history.
If she made the calls from your home area, then there should be no delay in them showing up on the bill. The delay comes if the phone is out of the home area and roaming; sometimes the information from the roaming towers takes more time to reach Verizon computers. Your question wasn't clear if she was simply calling an out of state number, or if she was out of state and making calls. -
Can I play 3D movies on a 3D TV using Quicktime 7 and the FBX QuickTime Viewer Plug-in from Autodesk? I would like to play 3D movies which are in Side by Side or Top/Bottom format where the image for each eye is 1080 x 720p. I would like to output to a 3D TV connecting it to the Mac graphics card DVI output (with a HDMI 1.3 converter) using the 2nd Display option of Quicktime.
These would be my 3D movies created with Final Cut and Stereo3D Toolbox from Dashwood.What type of files are these? It does seem odd that iTunes and QuickTime will still play the files, but Front Row refuses to.
Did you have any codecs or plugins for QuickTime installed? It may be possible that one of the updates is either incompatible with, or removed, one of these.
I recommend downloading Perian - a very versatile codec that allows the playback of many media files - and see if this cures the issue.

CSS header images not visible except in design view
I have a recurring problem in my css designs, and it's driving me to drink. In my stylesheets I define background and header images that work beautifully in design view, but when you view it any browser the header image is gone. This is not the first time I have struggled with this and I am over it. On the example I have posted there is an image underneath (not below, actually underneath) the company name and slogan at the top of the page, but you sure can't see it can you? As a matter of fact the second line of text completely disappears because the header image is not displayed. If someone can show me where I am going wrong with this I would appreciate it. The link to the site is here:
http://firstvirginiaservices.com/test/index.htmlThis is a path issue.
You're testing your new website in a subfolder called test. The server does not know that.
Your header rule points to the image with a site root reference i.e. starting from the root folder
#header {
margin:0;
font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif;
background-image: url(/images/header.jpg) ;
background-repeat:no-repeat;;
text-align: right;
That'll probably be OK when the site goes live but not while it lives in the "test" subfolder.
The server is looking for
http://firstvirginiaservices.com/images/header.jpg
but the images folder does not exist at the root folder level yet so the file is not found and the image does not display.
You really mean
http://firstvirginiaservices.com/test/images/header.jpg
The solution is to
EITHER
keep the root relative path and change the path temporarily in the CSS while you're working in the test folder
#header {
margin:0;
font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif;
background-image: url(/test/images/header.jpg) ;
background-repeat:no-repeat;;
text-align: right;
then tweak the path (remove "/test") when the site goes live.
OR
use a document relative path in the #header rule (from the CSS folder location to the images folder location)
#header {
margin:0;
font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif;
background-image: url(../images/header.jpg) ;
background-repeat:no-repeat;;
text-align: right;
