Using java.io.PrintWriter out  in servlets

Hi,
I have problem using Printwriter in my servlet code.
This is what i am doing.....
java.io.PrintWriter out = new java.io.PrintWriter(res.getOutputStream());
out.println("Query string"+req.getQueryString());
There is no out put on my browser. Am i missing something ..!?

Yup actually this worked--->PrintWriter out = res.getWriter();
instead of creating a new one.
Also correct me if im wrong, if you have a say 4 servlets which talk to each other & each one displays its part of the display for a single display page & if you have created a PrintWriter in one of the servlets, can it be reused in other servlets or should it be reused !!

  • Long running reports using java servlets

    Hello,
    I'm running into a problem using java servlets to produce database reports and sending them back to the client browser as excel or html. The problem comes into play when the user has submitted two reports then goes to run a third and the browser hangs. I realized now that this is because of the two active connections that the user already has to the app server. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get around this? I'm trying to now write the report to the server, and provide the browser with a url, but it seams as though the connection isn't totally closed even though I close the response printwriter.... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

    Unfortunately I dont have an answer to your question, but:
    If the reports are large/long running, should they be generated on demand? You could schedule the reports to be generated every day, month or whenever appropriate, stored on the server and then quickly pulled by the user whenever needed.

  • ORA-04030: out of process memory when using Java Stored Procedures

    Hello,
    I have a problem using Java Stored Procedures in Oracle 10g.
    My Java application performs http posts to a webservice and the response is parsed in order to populate some DB tables.
    There is a scheduled job which calls the Java Stored Procedure every x minutes.
    No matter of the 'x minutes' values - after about 160 - 200 calls I get this error:
    ORA-04030: out of process memory when trying to allocate 1048620 bytes (joxp heap,f:OldSpace)
    ORA-04030: out of process memory when trying to allocate 2097196 bytes (joxp heap,f:OldSpace)
    The job stops just while is posting the http request. The weird thing is that almost each time the first http post request I get this error:

    Can be a problem with JVM threading under Oracle ?

    The server prcess failed to allocate more memory for large objects ( in Oldspace).
    If you Google ORA-04030, you will see several recommendations to work around this.
    The Java VM in the database already has HttpClient, i don't know why you are loading the Apache HttpClient but this might not be the surce of the problem.

  • Accessing BAPI's using JAVA with out using webdynpro URGENT

    hi Experts,
    What is the procedure for calling RFC/BAPI's using JAVA with out using the webdynpro. Please let me know what are the possibilities with step by step implementation.
    Regards
    Vijay

    Hi Boris Rubarth,
    Thaks for relavant information.
    I have kind of the requirement. The clinet is asking for connecting the SAP RFC using java application. The build Jar or .war or .Ear for which are going to develop should be compatible for running on any of the Applications server like they have Tom cat, weblogic, websphere server.
    so the .jar for or .ear file which we are going to develop should be able to run accessing the RFC/ BAPIs from any of these servers other than SAP WAS that is what their target.
    Please give me your suggestion, which is better approach. currently their SAP system is 4.6c . So presently it is not possible the webservice approach. But they have plans to go for upgrade to ECC6.0
    In that case only JCO option is possible. If use this option . Is it possible to access application which is deployed irrespective of the WAS by doing the required configuration.
    Basically i am aware of the ABAP webservice work bech steps and also the JAVA coding also.
    Please suggest me what is the better way to achieve this.
    Regards

    Possibly your mailer is restricting your access to URLs to prevent
    various scams. Without the details, it's hard to know what's going
    wrong.
    Have you tried with a different mailer?

  • Can I develop servlets locally using IE6 without dialing out?

    I have Windows 2000, Internet Explorer 6 and JRun 3.1 on my system. I also have a dial-up internet connection.
    My question is, is there a way to use my browser to access local servlet generated web pages on my system without IE requesting to dial out for each request going to the servlet? Is there some kind of setting that allows me to develop on a local system? Would Netscape work differently than IE?
    When I start my servlet from IE6 using http://localhost:8102/..., IE always prompts "The Web page you requested is not available offline. To view this page, click Connect." If I click Stay Offline, I get no output at all. If I click Connect, I get another prompt stating "Select the service you want to connect to and then enter you user name and password." If at this point I click Work Offline, the request is sent to the servlet and the request is processed. The problem with this is this prompting happens for every request going to the servlet. I also have to keep deleting the off-line content files so that the changed forms get displayed, not the forms stored in the cache. I have "Check for newer versions of stored pages" set to "Every visit to the page".
    Is there any way that I can set up development on my system without dialing out for each request?
    Bob

    Yeah, IE is silly. There is no reason for IE to want to dial up if your server is local. You might want to go through IE help or Tools->Internet Options to figure out.
    Netscape (atleast the version I have) will not ask you to "connect".

    LiveCycle does provide a Java API to forms; LiveCycle is in fact a suite of programs, mostly enterprise level for running on server (next to which the cost of the master suite is a drop in the ocean). LiveCycle Designer is perhaps the only end user tool, and it is not for server use and doesn't have an API.
    Are you looking for a server solution? If so, nothing in the master suite can help, it isn't for server use.

    Dear SDN Users,
    This is how I resolved the issue.
    1) Requested ABAPer to provide me sorted data. The data has been sorted in descending order of actual_cost.
    2) After that I used following code. This resolved the issue.
         if (wdContext.nodeItab_Final1().size()>10){
         IPublicCostcnt.IGraphDataElement categoryElement;
              for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) {

              categoryElement.setCostElement(""+ wdContext.nodeItab_Final1().getItab_Final1ElementAt(i).getDescription());
              categoryElement.setActualCost(wdContext.nodeItab_Final1().getItab_Final1ElementAt(i).getActual_Cost().toString());
              categoryElement.setPlannedCost(wdContext.nodeItab_Final1().getItab_Final1ElementAt(i).getPlan_Cost().toString());
              wdContext.nodeGraphData().addElement(categoryElement);

    If I want to create additional servlets in the same web app which query the same database,
    do I need to repeat this block of code in every servlet, or can I just put it in one servlet
    and have other servlets access it in some way to get a connection? Should I change the code
    above from a "private" Connection to a "public" Connection?
    An example servlet is shown below. To put my question another way: If I want to
    create a second servlet with a different set of queries, would I just make a copy of the first
    servlet and then change only the queries, or is there a more efficient way to have multiple
    servlets get connections from the pool?
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
