Using JRC for reading report stored in DB

I would like to create a ReportClientDocument (or finally IReportSource) for us in JRC viewer from a report which is stored in a DB, instead of the local file system. Is there a way to get an IResportSource instance from a stream read instead of referrig to the local file system.

Using ereader to read books stored in the hard drive on a Lifedrive

I have a Lifedrive that I use for ebook reading. I have been merrily adding books to it and reading away until today. I bought a batch of ebooks in the ereader format from Fictionwise and used palmOne Quick Install to add them to my Lifedrive like I normally do. When I synced I found out some books didn't add due to insufficient memory. OK, the Lifedrive shows 3.6 G free, so I'm assuming all the books have been storing in the program memory and now that is full. So my question is---how do I get the ebooks into the hard drive partition and how do I get the Ereader app to find them so I can read my books?? Can I also shift ebooks already on the Lifedrive in program memory to the harddrive partion? How? Do I need to move the ereader apptothe harddrive,if so how do I do that? I'm assuming I will also have to this with any mobipocket books I buy in the future also.
PS- I know I could just delete books to free up space, but I am a speed reader and I often go back and reread old books so I'd like to keep them handy. Besides what is the use of having 3+G on my Lifedrive if I can't use it for ebooks, the main reason I have this device.

Hello ffyrebird, Welcome to the Palm Support Community.
Have you tried a Soft Reset yet? Many times the "out of memory" error does not refer to Storage Memory, but to physical RAM (aka DbCache).
A Soft Reset will clear out the working RAM area and may fix your problem.

OSS note for READ REPORT CX_SY_READ_SRC_LINE_TOO_LONG

I am sure many of us have faced this problem before while using classical ALV display func modules.
I am pasting the error analysis
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CXSY_READ_SRC_LINE_TOO_LONG', was_
not caught in
procedure "KKKB_FIELDCAT_MERGE" "(FUNCTION)", nor was it propagated by a_
RAISING clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
There was an attempt to read program "ZU1HAP_IC_REVAL" from the database._
The READ REPORT statement allows you to copy a program text into an
internal table. The occupied line length in the program text must not
exceed the width of the internal table.
The internal table "\FUNCTION=KKKB_FIELDCAT_MERGE\DATA=L_ABAP_SOURCE[]" is 72_
characters wide. The program line is
84 characters wide.
The Question is , is someone aware of an oss note that take care of this problem? I am looking in the marketplace but havent found something usefull as of now.

If the length of line in the abap code exceeds 72 characters you will get that error.
i could see that in your code a line has 84 characters.
do this,system will automatically format the exceeded lines.
Utitlites ->Settings->ABAP editor ->editor
Check Downwards-comp line length 72.

Hyperion download using GR55 for ZCCY reports

Hello Gurus,
When I was downloading hyperion report using transaction GR55 for ZCCY report, the download was showing large amount in Debit (Fixed cost) and large amount in Credit( Variable cost) for the same account number which ordinarilly should not. see below.

Why does the report showing large amount of 20,000 in FC and large amount of 19,500- in VC?
Why can't the report shows a single line of 500?
How can I resolve this issue?

How can i use FNDLOAD for XML reports and data defnitions

I registerd concurrent program and linked xml reports and data defnitions in staging instance, and successfully moved to DEV.. after that stage is refreshed and when i download the details from DEV and uploaded to Stage only concurrent program i can upload...Wheteher we can use FNDLOAD Command for the Data definitions or Data template for the XML Report,used FNDLOAD for the concurrent program, it uploaded only concurrent program details.

When to use webdynpro for developing reports instead of ABAP Editor in R/3

As mishbah told you , that there is no hard and fast rule for reporting throught webdynpro.It all depends on client requirement .Now if you want to develope alll the reports by using webdynpro without your clients request , then you need to explain the advantages of webdynpro reporting above abap reporting.
for e.g. Webdynpro reports can run on browser, They can be posted on portal, Easy handling and maintenance and reusability.
Other than this i guess if you can show some business profit to the client, then i think every client would like to go for webdynpro reporting.

Using opendocument for child report

Hello Experts,
One my webi report(parent) is likned with another wei report(child)using hyerlink and opendocument.
Now my requirement is to hide refresh button of child whenever it would get opened (After clicking on hyperlink on parent)
So every time, user clicks on hyperlink on parent report, child report should get opened without 'Refresh' button.
Is there way out to this problem using SDK or url reporting?

With the SDK, you can create your own Web Intelligence viewer. Other than that, there's not way to control the refreshability of a document other than using the security model (i.e., do not give rights to a user to refresh the document).

JRC for Crystal Reports for Eclipse V2.0 Parameter Problems

Scenario:
I have a report that displays the Function Group Name for a certain individual and all the Functions included in that Function Group. The following are the tables involved:
USER, FUNC_GROUP (contains description of the group) and FUNC_GROUP_LIST (the actual functions in the FUNC_GROUP).
The SQL command for the main report is: select id, name, description from FUNC_GROUP, USER where FUNC_GROUP.id = USER.default_func_group_id
The sub-report which lists the functions for the Function Group has the following SQL command: select id, name from FUNC where func_group_id = <main report's FUNC_GROUP.id>
The problem is my current code still flags missingParameterValueError error whenever I changed the DB location and set the parameters.
Code used for setting of db connection:

I am not using any stored procs, I just formulated an SQL for retrieval in both main and subreport.

Additional info:
The current template I'm using accepts the value from main report (FUNC_GROUP.id) which is in turn used as a parameter in the SQL command in the subreport. This throws an error when exporting via JRC.
However, I tried some modifications in the SQL command in the subreport. I've included the Function Group ID in the select clause (select id, name, func_group_id from FUNC) instead of using it in the where clause. Then in the linking of the main and the subreport, I chose filter data in subreport by func_group_id matching FUNC_GROUP.id in main report. Exporting in JRC this report worked well and deliver the same data as the original template. The problem is I think it takes longer because all data in FUNC table is retrieved. And also as a framework developer, I prefer not limiting the developers regarding the style on how they connect main and subreport in CRW (I'd personally say I'm more fond of using the original template as I think the modified template retrieves unneeded data).

4g VZAcess uses SMS for usage reporting

The new VZacess ver 7.6 uses SMS to retrieve data usage from Verizon. I had to turn on SMS on my Data Stick to get usage via VZAcess and for messages about usage. Then I started getting unsolicited messages that I have to pay for. I contacted VZ support and they turned off premium message. They believed that the Verizon messages would not be blocked. I am not sure if Verizon messages are blocked but VZAcess will not retrieve usage since the change. I will put up with not being able to retrieve usage via VZAcess and have to just logon to the web site to check usage.
I do not have a block on one of my other lines and I added that number to the SMS list of phones to send usage messages to.
I wish that they did not change the usage reporting, in the older version they uses HTTP to retrieve usage data.
I also wish that they would fix the WEB page so that if you have a 10 gb plan it says 10 and not 0. They are cutting off the 1 in 10 so it say I have a 0 gb plan. The usage bar on the WEB page doesn't reflect usage either.

Using cache for read only data

In my application I have to display some read only data (in number of drop down present on several portlets)
this data might be driven from the database or from some XML/property file.Not decided yet.
for example : Country /state/City/Zip code etc..
Kindly let me know how can I implement the same in Weblogic Portal 10.0.
Do I have to use some third party caching mechanism like Hibernate cache for this
or
Weblogic portal do support caching ??
Please suggest the all possible soultions to implement this.

Cache cache = CacheFactory.getCache("yourCache"); //any name can be passed, and you can create as many as you want , perhaps by functionality, perhaps by size etc. If you want to configure statically you must use this name in the xml file. If you define it in the xml file , you can administer the cache from Portal Admin
cache.put("key","value");
cache.get("key");
There are other advanced things you can do like Time To live / flushing / auto reload the cache which is all described in the javadoc

iBooks supports ePub and most PDF’s as far as reading items outside of the iBooks Store and would need to export them as a pdf to sync them across. Also as an alternative Microsoft does make Word for iPad to read the documents. If you want to write and edit them, then there is a subscription that can allows that for you. Pages for iOS also has a new feature to where you can have word documents and keep them as view only option for when sharing out the document.

Take a look at this sample code.
Define and implement an event handler method for event subtotal_text. Register this event with SET HANDLER.
2. Call a subroutine within this method and pass the event parameters to that subroutine.
3. Event parameters ep_subtot_line and e_event_data contain reference variables to generic data type DATA. This is why you must use field symbols in the subroutine:

PrinterException when multiple threads try to print report using JRC

Iam using Crystal Report's JRC for printing reports, it works fine.
But the problem araises when i use multiple threads.
I used the following:
reportClientDocument.getPrinterOutputController().printReport(.....); to print.
I get the following exception
Caused by: java.awt.print.PrinterException: No printer named "\\ch03\printer05" could be found.
Without multiple thread it works fine.
I have been scratching my head for days on this problem, any help is very much appreciated..

If an API doesn't specifically say that it is thread safe then it isn't likely to be thread safe and the only way to approach it is to assume that it isn't.

Using CSS with Linked Report Field

I'm using the CSS Style width:150px on a report column that has a link. However, when using a CSS Style on linked column the formatting doesn't work. If I remove the link the width setting takes effect. How can I correct this? If I embedded the link URL in the query data it will format fine so there appears to be something different happen when Application Express generate the link.

When a report column is rendered as a hyperlink, the CSS style you specify is not used, that is used only for regular report columns.
Try putting your style as style="width:150px;" in the Link Attributes in the Column Link section (where you specify the other hyperlink details)
