Using labview to read from flow computer using modbus
I am doing a project for my final term in instrumentation and attempting to create an HMI in LabView to interface with a Floboss 103 flow computer through modbus. All I need to do is display temp static and pressure like a meter run.
I am using the com1 port RS 485 and converting to RS 232 to the computers Comm1 Serial port. I have the modbus libraries and have attempted to communicate with several examples to no success. I have set up the modbus I/O server and made my shared variables in ranges of 400100-400103 for the first parameter. When i have the block in the block diagram from dragging it over from the project manager and run it it gives me error that the response in unreadble.
Registers in RocLink are configured to 100-103, 200-203, 300-303, with a conversion code of 71 to make it a floating point.
Any ideas on what could be wrong or an example of how to get a value to display on the screen would be much appreciated

A few questions for ya:
1) You mention modbus library but also a modbus I/O server. Which one are you using?
2) What type of serial cable are you using - null modem or straight through?
3) Can you open hyperterminal and do a loopback test to verify the serial port is working?
4) Are there any coils you can read from the device instead? These are a little easier to read and we don't have to worry about conversion codes
5) Are you getting any sort of error codes?
6) Do you have an extra computer that you can run the serial modbus slave and serial modbus master examples on?
7) Have you tried using any other software to communicate to verify everything is set up correctly? Modbus poll is a useful shareware tool to make sure everything is set up correctly. If this doesn't work, then we know the problem isn't with labview, but with hardware. If it does work, something is wrong on the software side.
I have also seen issues with 485/232 converters in the past causing issues.

Go to Solution.Another idea with less programming - take advantage of the "free" array that comes with a Chart - i.e. the History Data.
1) Wire your DMM data to a Chart. (You can set the chart to invisible if you don't plan on using it in the GUI).
2) Set the Chart History Length to 200 (right click on the chart, click on Chart History Length...)
3) On the block diagram, use the History Data Property Node, wire it to Mean.vi, and you're done.
Easiest running average ever.

When you say a diffrent network, do you mean accessing the computer over the internet?
VNC is built into the computer, so you don't need ARD to remote into a computer. To access your parents computer over the internet will most likely require configuring their router/firewall. And unless they're paying for a static ip, you'll also need some way to track their computer.
OR
you can use logmein, or teamviewer. Both programs are desgined to access a computer over the internet. Most of the time they don't require re-configuring the firewall. -
Cannot open applets from my computer using IE 6

i have a problem when i try to open an applet from my computer using HTML file for it

now i have checked and the path are correct (the html and the class file in the same directory)
the problem Occurred only when I try to open class file from my computer, I dont have problems to open them from the web (if for example i enter some site with an applet).

1) have java runtime installed as said above, easiest way go to java.com, SUN's JAVA SOFT RULES! FORGET ABOUT MS' s***.
2) i never managed to run an applet with code you wrote for example.I use <object> instead and i works fine everywhere.

I have been using Apple TV (gen 3) to stream movies from my computer using Home Share but found my internet down load increased, I have read online forums which all say they don't think the home sharing uses your internet down load but when I played a movie then paused and unplugged my cable from my router I was unable to continue streaming the movies which tells me I am using internet down load. Can I use my Apple TV to stream already downloaded and saved movies from my computer to Apple TV without using the internet?
Sorry diesel, to amswer your question: I am selecting "Computers" from the ATV which inturn streams the movies from the iTunes on my computer.
If I unplug my internet cable from the router I am unable to continue streaming the movie? this tells me that it is using my ISP internet to stream, I have checked all my settings but can't see anywhere that would make it stream direct from my router to ATV.
Just can't work it out??? -
How do I install Mac OS from another computer using firewire?
My iMac has a bad CD drive but I was told that there is a way to install Leopard from another computer using a firewire connection between the two. I put the install CD in the other computer and rebooted it using "T" (and I see the floating firewire symbol as expected). But I don't see the install disk on the iMac. What's up?
you can try another way:
connect a firewire drive to the good Mac. Partition the drive and make the second partition as small as you can but at least 8 gigs. Mount he Leopard DVD to desktop. Launch Disk Utility and select that external drive and the restore tab. Drag the source , ie the MacOSX DVD to source window and that second small partition to the destination window. Select restore and enter your password. Wait 30 mins, restore is done. Quit all programs. Unmount that external drive. Connect to the "bad" Mac and restart it from that external drive to install Leopard OSX. You can if you want load most of your software on the first partition of the external and install your software unless of course you did a Time Machine to make it far simpler. -
Help me please going crazy, I have my Iphone 4S getting my e-mails from my computer using outlook but when I delete yhem on my computer they stay on my phone, I am syncing via the cloud, Is there a setting that stopps this e-mail from growing on my phone?
For outlook or hotmail emails they use a pop server technology that you can't sync your computer and your iPhone with. You have to unfortunately delete the emails from both devices. It is super frustrating but that is the only way.

Problems connecting to iChat 4 on the server from a computer using iChat 3.
Is this possible? I am an intern at my school and I am facing this problem. What is happening is we are testing the Leopard server on new iMac 20" and we set up an iChat server. We can log onto the iChat server from the server iMac. But when we attempt to access the 10.5 server from our computers using Tiger (10.4.10), it says that we can not connect to the server. We are using the same user name and config as on the 10.5 server Any ideas?
This is the error message I receive when I attempt to connect to the iChat 4 10.5 server from a computer using Tiger (10.4.10):
Could not connect to host "server name here"
We currently have another iChat server set up on a server using Tiger and set up the 10.5 iChat server in the same way, yet it still will not work.I too ran into the problem of iChat on 10.4.x, along with Adium, not succeeding at connecting to the Jabber process on MOSXS v.10.5.1, but simply editing the /etc/jabberd/c2s.xml file to comment out the "gssapi" authentication fixed it up swell. In our case, Active Directory isn't an issue since we're an all-Mac shop.
Here's the relevant section excerpted from the file:

i have just dowloaded the icloud control panel on my PC and i am am able to see everything that has been pushed to icloud from my ipad. However i cannot see my email. i can send from the computer using icloud, but i do not see any mail that is being received by my ipad, which is set up with my mail server. What haven't i checked lol?
turn your ipad off by holding the sleep wake button for 5 seconds and slide to turn off then turn it back on and the apps should be finished and if the apps didnt finish just redownload them

Using servlets to read from text file and insert data
Hi,
Can I use a servlet to read from a space delimited text file on the client computer and use that data to insert into a table in my database? I want to make it easy for my users to upload their data without having to have them use SQL*Loader. If so can someone give me a hint as how to get started? I appreciate it.

ColbyCreate a page for the user to upload the file to your webserver and send a message (containing the file location) to a server app that will open the file, parse it, and insert it into your database. Make sure you secure the page.

Have the user paste the file into a simple web form that submits to a servlet that parses the data and inserts it into your db. -

Time Machine is software on a Mac that is used to backup that Mac to a Time Capsule hard drive.
Are you asking if another Mac can backup to the same Time Capsule that other Macs are already using?

Transferring music from old computer using ipod
I recently transferred music from my old computer to my new computer using my ipod by following the directions in apple support (article 300173.) I already had music in itunes on my new computer when I added the music from my old computer. Now all the music that I had loaded prior to the transfer comes up with a message "original file could not be found." Have I lost this music for good?

MacBook Mac OS X (10.4.9)If you dragged the file called 'iTunes' in to the music folder in the finder and it asked 'do you wish to overite' then it has probably overwritten the folder tha t already existed
(with the new music in).
If you haven't emptied you trash it might be in there, but don't click retore the trash just drag the folder onto the desktop.
