Using Maven to deploy WebLogic applications

Hi,
I am trying to get Maven (http://maven.apache.org) to do WebLogic deployments.
I am using WebLogic 8.1. Is there a Maven plugin available for WebLogic 8.1
deployment? I keep trying the following in maven.xml, but I keep getting the
exception below. I have wldeploy working properly from Ant 1.6.1 - I had to drop
weblogic.jar into ANT_HOME/lib, but it works.
Any thoughts on this most appreciated - if you have working plugin code that can
deploy, that's even better. Thanks!
yours,

Do you tried the maven j2ee plugin?
At least deployment it just copy a ear isn't it?
Deployment isnt a problem for me but I have trouble to start and stop the server.

  • Packaging and Deploying Weblogic Application

    Hi,
I am having trouble in deploying a Weblogic application. I made a Web
application in Weblogic6.1 on Windows2000. The directory structure of my
JSPs, Images and Servlets are as follows:
    JSPs - DefaultWebApp
JavaBeans(not EJB)(these JavaBeans are used by the JSPs as well as the
    Servlet)
    - DefaultWebApp\Web-Inf\Classes\Servletspkg\Loginpkg,
    - DefaultWebApp\Web-Inf\Classes\Servletspkg\Workpkg, etc.
    HTML - DefaultWebApp
    Images - DefaultWebApp\Images
    Servlets - DefaultWebApp\Web-Inf\Classes\Servletspkg
    web.xml and weblogic.xml - DefaultWebApp\Web-Inf
The Web application runs fine. Now I want to package the above Web
application and deploy it under Solaris8 (Weblogic 6.1)( in another
machine.) I am not able to do that. I would be grateful if you could let me
know the steps involved in packaging and deploying.

    Hi.
    Hmm, hard to say.
I notice in your deployment on Windows 2000 you deployed in the defaultwebapp,
but on solaris you deploy in 'test' webapp. I suspect this is the root ofthe
problem. Since you are having problems calling J2.jsp I wonder how youare
calling it. When calling from the default webapp you don't need tospecify a
webapp context in the url, but from test webapp you do (depending on howyou are
calling it - full url vs relative url).
So in summary consider 2 things:
    1. how are you calling J2.jsp that might be different than how you callthe
    servlet from J1.jsp?
    2. what happens if you deploy your webapp to the default webapp onsolaris? my
guess is that this will work.
    Hope this helps,
    Michael

    Hi,
I could finally deploy the web application on the Solaris machine. But I
    am
not sure if I did the right thing. I followed the steps below:
    1.I created a folder "test" under "config/mydomain/applications"folder.
2.I extracted the .war file in this folder which was successful.
3.Then I tried to run the application with the URL
    http://localhost:7001/test
    4. I got "J1.jsp" (located in "test" folder) as I excpected. This pagecalls
a servlet "ControllerServlet" located in folder
    "test/WEB-INF/classes/servletspkg"
    5. The servlet in turn calls another jsp page J2.jsp located in "test"
folder. This call is failing. I am getting 404 file not found error.
Please suggest what I should do.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi.
I need more detail here. When you say you can't deploy to solaris,
    what
    does
that mean? Do you get any errors/exceptions while deploying? If soplease
post the errors here. Or does it deploy ok but you can't access it?

  • Deploying large applications and common used classes

I've got an application containing EntityBeans, statefull/stateless
SessionBeans, and a Webapplication. Every component is packed in a jar File
and all together in an EAR-File as an application.
Those EJBs share some common classes, for example:
EjbA in A.jar and EjbB in B.jar share a Helperclass C.
Where do I put this class C? I try to avoid to put this class C in the
Classpath of the application server. And when I put C in both jar-Files I

    Any ideas? Thanx in advance.

FYI, this is fixed in 6.1

    Hi
Thank you for reading my post
i used to use Run button to compile / deploy and run (opening the browser to project context path) .
i want to know is there any way to use RUN button to deploy an application to standalone OC4J and opening browser?
I know that we can define ear or war deployment profiles and use them to deploy the application to stand alone server , but i want a single click solution.

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • How to deploy JSP application using inbuilt OC4J of Oracle BPEL??

I have to combine JSP pages with BPEL and for that i have to deploy applications with the inbuilt OC4J i dont know from where to deploy the whole application and how to write build.xml for deploying using obant

You can deploy your application to the Oracle Bpel Server by specifying a new Application Server connection that points to yout LocalBpelServer.
You don't need to write a build.xml file, you can just use the Deployment Descriptor functionality of JDeveloper which is much more easier than using the obant.
The process of automatically deploying your UI-application to the Oracle Bpel Server, without any manual steps or restaring the server, is fully documented on the following blog: http://iadvise.blogspot.com/

You aren't forced to use Maven's project structure actually.
When I first tried Maven (after years of using Ant) I was annoyed by the perception that I must conform to Maven. However, the default location for such things as the ${project.build.outputDirectory} are just that - defaults for those who favour convention over configuration. You can of course override them (as I still do for the artifact output directory) and even do so in a super pom for al your projects so they can be automatically inherited.
Maven is more than just a dependency management tool though - it is a build sequencer. This perhaps more powerful if a more subtle aspect to appreciate. Once you devote a small amount of time to learn how to get the best out of Maven (read Better Builds With Maven as a good starting point) you will not want to go back to Ant - I haven't yet.
As far as finding JARs is concerned this is just as time consuming with Maven as with any other means of meeting library dependencies. I find two things useful here: one is iGoogle and a plugin for it called "javacio.us search"; the other is using a local proxy such as Nexus which also indexes the repository. Combined with an IDE such as IDEA or Eclipse which have good Maven support including artifact autocompletion this makes locating the right versions of artifacts quite easy.Apache Archiva is another very good Maven proxy. As for finding libraries, I just bang "<dependency name> maven ibiblio" into Google, and let it do the heavy lifting. Never failed me yet. What is annoying is when groupIds change between versions. Yes, Hibernate, I'm looking at you.....

It does build the jar file with the version specified in the pom i.e. TestSOAProj_rev1.1.jar, but when it deploys I see the composite with version as 1.0 (this version is in composite.xml). The out of the box maven script is not overwriting the revision in the composite.xml with the value specified in the pom file.
Also, is there a way to pass the partition name as an user input parameter in the pom file. I tried this with the out of the box pom file by giving the partition name as something other than ‘default’, but the maven script ignores this and always deploys to ‘default’.
I am not sure if I am missing anything here. Please suggest.

    Well, how did you do?
I am having a similar problem.
    1) Installed WLS 10.3.5 on a Linux machine
    2) Installed ADF runtime libraries (ofm_appdev_generic_11.1.1.5.0_disk1_1of1.zip)
    3) I can see at deployments
    - adf.oracle.businesseditor(1.0,11.1.1.2.0)
    - adf.oracle.domain(1.0,11.1.1.2.0)
    - adf.oracle.domain.webapp(1.0,11.1.1.2.0)
    - DMS Application (11.1.1.1.0)
    - em
    - emai
    - emas
    - emcore
    - FMW Welcome Page Application (11.1.0.0.0)
    - jsf(1.2,1.2.9.0)
I created from scratch a new Fusion Web app. It just has 1 ADF read-only table based on the HR.COUNTRIES table. It runs perfectly on the integrated WL.
I cannot deploy it to my standalone WLS. The error:

  • Error while deploying ADF application to a standalone weblogic

    jdeveloper version: 11.1.2.2
Issue: I have built a standalone weblogic server (10.3.5.0) and am trying to deploy my ADF application to it. The deployment fails with the following message. The stand alone server I have built is on the same machine where jdeveloper is installed and I am using same weblogic that came with jdeveloper install. The aplication runs fine on integrated server. I have researched this issue and have got more or less same answer of installing ADF run time libraries. Can someone please help me with exactly what I need to install and how?

    WebLogic Application Deployment Utility
Usage: java weblogic.Deployer [options] [-activate|-deactivate|-remove|-unprepare|-cancel|-list] [files]
    where options include:
    -help Print this help message.
    -version Print version information.
-adminurl <https://<server>:<port>> The URL of the administration server: default
    http://localhost:7001
-user <user> A user other than the default of
    "installadministrator"
-password <password> Specifies the password on the command line.
If this option is absent the user is
    prompted.
-verbose Displays additional status during the
    deployment process, including notifications
when the application is prepared and
    activated on each target.
-debug Displays debug level messages to the standard
    output.
-examples Display example usage of this tool.
-upload Causes the specified source file(s) to be
transferred to the adminstration server. This
is used when the Deployer tools is not being
used on the same machine as the adminstration
server and the user does not otherwise have
access to place the targeted files on the
    adminstration server.
-delete_files Causes the server to remove the files that
are specified in the file list and leave the
application activated. This option is valid
    only for unarchived web applications.
-remote Signals that the tools is not runnning on the
same machine as the adminstration server and
that the source path should be made passed
through unchanged as it represents the path
    on the remote server.
-nostage Sets the stagingMethod attribute on the
application mbean when it is created so that
the application will not be staged and the
    original source is be used.
-external_stage Sets the stagingMethod attribute on the
application mbean when it is created so that
the application will not be staged but the
value of the staging path will be used when
    preparing the application.
-stage Sets the stagingMethod staging attribute on
the application when it is created so that
the application will always be staged. This
    value will override the stagingMethod
    attribute on any targeted servers.
-nowait Once the action is initiated the tool will
print the task id and exit. This is used to
initiate multiple tasks and then monitor them
    later using the -list action.
-timeout <seconds> The maximum time in seconds to wait for the
completion of the deployment task. When the
time expires the current status is printed
    and the program exits.
-source <archive file or directory> Location of the file or directory that
    represents the enterprise component or
application tha is being (re)activated. If
the source file is relative it is relative to
the current directory, unless the -remote
option is used. To specify individual files
within an application for reployment or
addition list them at the end of the command
    line.
-name <application name> The name of the application being deployed.
    -targets <<server 1>,...<component>@<server N>> A comma separated list of the server and/or
cluster names. Each target may be qualified
with a J2EE component name. This enables
different components of the archive to
    deployed on different servers.
-id <task identifier> Optional client supplied unique identifier
for the deployment task. The id is first
    specified to -activate, -deactivate,
-unprepare or -remove. It is then used later
as an argument to -cancel or -list.
-activate (Re)activates the <source> application on the
    <targets> with the <name>.
-deactivate Deactivates the application <name> on the
<targets> leaving an staged application files
in a state where the may be quickly
    reactivated.
-unprepare Deactivates and unloads classes for the
application <name> on the <targets> leaving
an staged application files in a state where
    the may be quickly reloaded.
-remove Deactivates the application <name> on the
<target> and removes any files that were
staged for this application. If there are no

-deploy a convenient alias for activate.
-undeploy a convenient alias for unprepare.
Optionally a list of the specific files in the archive that are to be
redeployed may be specified. If a directory is specified the entire subtree is
    redeployed.
Full documentation on this tool is available at:
    http://edocs.beasys.com/wls/docs70/adminguide/utils.html#1138475
No actions was specified. Please specify one and only one of:
-activate, -deactivate, -cancel, -remove, -unprepare, or -list.
Type java weblogic.Deployer -examples for example usage.

you use "deploy" under DOS-Mode to deploy your web application?
i found some differences between "deploy" and "redeploy" function in jbuilder 9.
when i choose "deploy" ,jbuilder shows me the commond below:
E:\bea\jdk131_02\bin\javaw -classpath E:\bea\weblogic700\server\lib\weblogic.jar;E:\bea\weblogic700\server\lib\webservices.jar;E:\bea\weblogic700\server\lib\weblogic_sp.jar; weblogic.Deployer -user system -adminurl http://localhost:7001 -password 12345678 -deploy -name firstWebApp -upload -source E:/J2EE/servlet/firstWebApp.war -targets myserver
    WebLogic Application Deployment Utility
when i choose redeploy,it shows me: (the -deploy parameter has changed to -activate) ,maybe it's a bug.
E:\bea\jdk131_02\bin\javaw -classpath E:\bea\weblogic700\server\lib\weblogic.jar;E:\bea\weblogic700\server\lib\webservices.jar;E:\bea\weblogic700\server\lib\weblogic_sp.jar; weblogic.Deployer -user system -adminurl http://localhost:7001 -password 12345678 -activate -name firstWebApp -upload -source E:/J2EE/servlet/firstWebApp.war -targets myserver

  • Unable to deploy ADF application to weblogic server

    Hi,
We are developing ADF application using jDeveloper 11.1.1.1 and deploying to Weblogic Server 10.3.1. The application is working without any problems on 10.3.1 wblogic platform.
We procured new 64 bit hardware and installed weblogic 10.3.2 and jdeveloper 11.1.1.2 on windows platform. When we are deploying the application developed using jdeveloper 11.1.1.1 on the new platform we are getting the following exception.
An error occurred during activation of changes, please see the log for details.
    [J2EE:160149]Error while processing library references. Unresolved application library references, defined in weblogic-application.xml: [Extension-Name: adf.oracle.domain, Implementation-Version: 11.1.1.1.0, exact-match: false], [Extension-Name: oracle.jsp.next, exact-match: false].
Can you please provide some suggestions to debug the problem.
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi,
I have tried deploying the application using jdeveloper 11.1.1.2.0, But this time I am getting the following error after commenting the following lines in weblogic-application.xml. I have removed the following lines as I am getting classnot found exception for oracle.adf.share.weblogic.listeners.ADFApplicationLifecycleListener and oracle.mds.lcm.weblogic.WLLifecycleListener.
If I deployed the application on the admin server, The application is working with out any problems. I am having problems only on Managed Server at the time of deployment.
