Deploying applications to glassfish using Maven.

Hello,
I am both a glassfish and maven newbie.
I want to know if there's away to automatically deploy my .war in glassfish via the .pom file.
(My current solution: an ant script to copy my target .war to glassfish/domains/domain1/autodeploy is not the best;)
Thanks,

You aren't forced to use Maven's project structure actually.
When I first tried Maven (after years of using Ant) I was annoyed by the perception that I must conform to Maven. However, the default location for such things as the ${project.build.outputDirectory} are just that - defaults for those who favour convention over configuration. You can of course override them (as I still do for the artifact output directory) and even do so in a super pom for al your projects so they can be automatically inherited.
Maven is more than just a dependency management tool though - it is a build sequencer. This perhaps more powerful if a more subtle aspect to appreciate. Once you devote a small amount of time to learn how to get the best out of Maven (read Better Builds With Maven as a good starting point) you will not want to go back to Ant - I haven't yet.
As far as finding JARs is concerned this is just as time consuming with Maven as with any other means of meeting library dependencies. I find two things useful here: one is iGoogle and a plugin for it called "javacio.us search"; the other is using a local proxy such as Nexus which also indexes the repository. Combined with an IDE such as IDEA or Eclipse which have good Maven support including artifact autocompletion this makes locating the right versions of artifacts quite easy.Apache Archiva is another very good Maven proxy. As for finding libraries, I just bang "<dependency name> maven ibiblio" into Google, and let it do the heavy lifting. Never failed me yet. What is annoying is when groupIds change between versions. Yes, Hibernate, I'm looking at you.....

  • Issue in deploying Service Bus projects using maven

    Hi,
I am following the following documentation for deploying service bus projects to my OSB server.
    http://docs.oracle.com/middleware/1213/core/MAVEN/osb_maven_project.htm#MAVEN8973
I was able to issue mvn package as described in documentation and also able to see sbar files in .data/Maven directory of each project.
But i am seeing following error when i issue mvn pre-integration-test. Am i missing any steps.

  • What is the best way to deploy application that uses web services?

    Hi all,
I'm having some problems figuring out the best way to deploy our app now that we've switched over to using web services.
I'm fairly new to Java and web services. From what I understand, JNLP and WebStart are methods to deploy Java clients to users and not for creating war files and the like.
    Here's a little background:
We have a large PowerBuilder/Oracle application. The db consists of over 500 tables and the client consists of several thousand PB components. A user creates "transactions" which contain a series of "sub-transactions" within. Most of the data is collected and stored locally in the client in a series of datastores. When the "finalize" happens, the records are validated and sent to the database.
We are in the process of moving each of the subtransactions (currently in the PB client) into subPROCESSES on a java project. We are using the JAX-WS framework to develop the web services in Netbeans. These web services aren't much more than remote xml as the messaging technology. For writing data back to the database, we are using the Java Persistence API to function outside of an EJB container but will shortly be migrating to the Glassfish application server to use several of the EJB container frameworks including the EntityManager.
We haven't attempted any type of deployment and are unsure of where to start. Any suggestions would be so helpful and appreciated!
    Thanks!

It is for launching rich client GUI based (AWT, Swing, SWT..) applications onto the end-user's desktop.
There are some parts of JWS that might seem peripherally useful to the installation of a web-app., but it is really not a 'good fit'.

Or perhaps the forum 'Java Technologies for Web Services' (under 'enterprise technologies')

This one in 'BigAdmin' seems particularly relevant, 'Set up and Deploy'

  • 12c SOA composite deployment issue using maven

I am facing issue with 12c SOA composite deployment using maven. I execute the below command for deploying any composite. (Note: Update and run init.cmd file before running the below maven command)
    mvn pre-integration-test –f soa-pom.xml –Dcomposite.name=TestSOAProj –Dcomposite.version=1.1
    Issues:
As seen above, I specified composite version to be deployed as 1.1 in pom.xml file, but maven deploys the composite with version that is present in composite.xml. It does build the jar file with the version specified in the pom i.e. TestSOAProj_rev1.1.jar, but when it deploys I see the composite with version as 1.0 (this version is in composite.xml). The out of the box maven script is not overwriting the revision in the composite.xml with the value specified in the pom file.
Also, is there a way to pass the partition name as an user input parameter in the pom file. I tried this with the out of the box pom file by giving the partition name as something other than ‘default’, but the maven script ignores this and always deploys to ‘default’.
I am not sure if I am missing anything here. Please suggest.

  • 12c SOA multiple composite deployment using maven

    Hi,
I am facing issue with 12c SOA composite deployment using maven. I execute the below command for deploying any composite.
    mvn pre-integration-test –f soa-pom.xml –Dcomposite.name=TestMVNProj –Dcomposite.version=1.1
    Issues:
As seen above by using above command m able to deploy single composte. But i want to deploy multiple composite belongs to  same application or Different something like below.
    AIM- mvn pre-integration-test –f soa-pom.xml –Dcomposite.name=TestSOAProj1,Project2
Is there any way to achive this please guide me far same
In any senerio not only is soa composite.can any one guide me how to deploy multiple projects using maven scripts.
    Thanks in Advance
    Prabhat

    Hi Markus,
I have tried it with profiling its works . thanks!!!! but some how still i was not able to achieve what i want.
But thanks for you kind references i have done it by using and maven cmd line switch -pl .Now i can exclude.include modules  dynamically.
    For example;-
    <modules>
        <module>Mvntest1</module>
        <module>MvnDeploymentTest</module>
         <module>MvnDeploymentTest2</module>
        </modules>
I have multiple module  in my parent pom.xml and if i want to deploy only top 2 of  them.
    # mvn pre-integration-test -pl +Mvntest1,+MvnDeploymentTest   (This only support maven version 3.2.1 and above)
    its working fine :-
Note:- when we using -pl  if we want to include modules we can give module name with "+"sign and for exclude "- or !" we can give multiple module name separated with "," delimiters .
    THANKS MARKUS!!!!!

  • Failure When Deploying EJB Project That Uses Library Onto Glassfish

    <font size=4>Hi,
I have a multi project application that I am developing and I am having issues testing it. I have set up a EAR, WAR, EJB, and two library JARs. The EJB contains classes that use components from the library JARs or implement abstract classes from the library JARs. I have added the library JARs to the compile-time libraries of the EJB. I then also added the library JARs to the libraries of the EAR. However when I then go to deploy the EAR onto the Glassfish server I get this error, displayed in the Glassfish log:</font><br>

First of all, use a normal font when posting a question. This is just terrible to read.
You have multiple failures here. Did you actually read and try to understand the error?
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/foo/sdk/core/AbstractClassJava is not going to lie, this class is not on the classpath of the application. Either the jar is missing, the class is missing from the jar or you put the jar in the wrong place. Open up the ear using your favorite zip tool and check out its structure. What is the path to the jar inside it?
Also, open up the META-INF/manifest.mf file inside the EJB jar. Is there a class-path line in there? There shouldn't be!
A valid ejb jar requires at least one session, entity (1.x/2.x style), or message-driven bean. Apparently your EJB jar contains not a single EJB or MDB class. Did you forget some annotations perhaps?
Seems to me that your application compiles, but other than that it is very much broken.

  • Building ADF  application Using Maven

I have a requirement to build the Adf application using Maven.
My JDeveloper version is 11.1.1.3 and I imported the Maven plugins.
When I create the new Fusion application , pom.xml is getting created in model project but not in viewcontroller project. Any reason for that?
Please help me to point to the right article and example to build Adf application using Maven?

    User,
While you can build an ADF app using Maven, it's nowhere near easy or automated in terms of getting started. There are a few people who are doing it, but they have invested a lot of effort including:
    * loading the ADF libraries into their corporate repositories
    * re-structuring their ADF projects to match the Maven directory standard (or customizing their POMs)
    * Hand-building POMs for their ADF apps
Most or all of the people that I know who are doing this are doing all of these things without the benefit of the Maven integration provided in JDeveloper. If you have a search of this forum and the [url https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/adf-methodology]ADF EMG, you can find plenty of discussions about this. There's no "step-by-step" guide that I know of, and it will definitely take you quite a bit of effort to get started. The Maven integration in JDeveloper is still in developer preview mode, and in my opinion, isn't ready for prime time - at least not with respect to ADF projects.

  • Deploying large applications and common used classes

I've got an application containing EntityBeans, statefull/stateless
SessionBeans, and a Webapplication. Every component is packed in a jar File
and all together in an EAR-File as an application.
Those EJBs share some common classes, for example:
EjbA in A.jar and EjbB in B.jar share a Helperclass C.
Where do I put this class C? I try to avoid to put this class C in the
Classpath of the application server. And when I put C in both jar-Files I
got a ClassNotFoundException in one of the EJBs. I'm using WLS 6.0.

FYI, this is fixed in 6.1

  • Install agent on solaris 10 using agent deploy application?

    Hi all,
I have installed 10g grid control on solaris 10 with new repository database on same machine.
The OMS, and agent is running on grid host.
Now I want to add other hosts (targets) into grid. For this, I have to install agent on target hosts. I am using agent deploy application method for installation of agent.
    It is giving error
    Istall --> Failed
"Pre-Install Script is Not Executed, Install is Failed, Run root.sh is Not Executed, Post-Install Script is Not Executed, Collection of Logs is Success"
version for agent and OMS is 10.2.0.1 and for repository database is 10.1.04
any idea, how to troubleshoot this?

Did you get answer? I had same problem on agent 10.2.0.4 deployment on linux 2.6.9-55.ELsmp.

If you have not managed to help yourself out with maven for ADF here is a quick workaround you can try. Invoke ant's ojdeploy task from maven. Refer step-by-step guide here.

    You could try Edwins comment.
"You can use the normal soa deploy plugin, just zip the mds artifacts and deploy it just like a SOA Composite sar."
You need to create the zip first.
Content of zip schould look like:
    /apps

  • Deploying LightSwitch applications to IIS using the Oracle Entity Framework

I have had no sucess running Lightswitch applications on IIS using the Oracle Beta entity framework. Applications work fine from visual studio but after deployment fail when I trying to access an Oracle data entity.
I have tried deploying to a 2008 V2 server 64Bit running IIS7.5 and also to a 32 bit windows 7 machine running IIS7. Both machines had the entity framework installed and I could connect to Oracle with SQL developer just fine. Briefly in the case of the 64 bit machine I get a bad image exception indicating a 64/32 bit conflict. (App pool switched to allow 32bit). The problem with the 32Bit machine is that the session either hangs or dies with an [Arg_TargetInvocationException]
In all tests apps could connect to SQL server fine but as soon as I use an Oracle connection they fail. It would very helpfull if someone could confirm that they have managed to use the Entity framework Beta with Lightswitch and IIS.
    Thanks in advance

Both hosts working now. Initially I created a service account for the aspnet service with extended rights and assigned this to the application pool. This subsequentluy turned out not to be required - ApplicationPoolIdentity works fine. What worked was as follows:
    1. On a 64 Bit host you need to set the application pool to Enable 32 Bit Applications (Right click the relevant app pool in IIS and select advanced)
    2. Switch off windows authentication for the application (leaving just anonoymous authentication) This was required on both hosts
    3. On the 32 Bit host copy tnsnames to the oracle client admin folder - the framework seems to ignore theTNS_ADMIN environment variable. Probably more to this but its working for now.
