Using OAF in R12

Hi,
I want to build OAF component in R12, i have installed dev suite 10g which includes JDEVELOPER.
After starting JDEVELOPER i found "Workspace Configured for Oracle Applications" and "Business Component Package" are missing.
So this JDEVELOPER is configured only for ADF. Then i came to know there is a patch for OAF in R12 "p6908968_R12_GENERIC".
I have installed the patch now i am able to see "Workspace Configured for Oracle Applications" but still i am not able to "Business Component Package".
In business tier it shows on ADF Business Components.
Please what other configurations are needed for R12.

Hi,
In jdeveloper 10g it is littlebit different.
First Create component then it will ask for business component package
Suppose u want to create an EO. then do the following
1. Create a project
2. Create EO by Right click to .jpr --> New --> Business Tier --> Entity Object
then EO Creation wizard you have to give name of EO and same time u have to give package name. It will automatically create ur specified package for EO
3. In similar way u can create server package to contain ur VO.
So idea here is first create ur component and then specify package......

Hi Raju,
Plz go to the region containing the links. You should find the links. Try change render property accordingly.

Is it possible to launch a form from an OAF page using OAF Personalization

In R11, the Customer Standard form ARXCUDCI was customized to call a custom block from the Address screen. In R12 the customer standard form has become an OAF page. We have decided to create a custom form for the custom block using Oracle Developer. However we need a mechanism to call this custom form from the Customer Standard OAF page.
My query is if it is possible to call a custom form from an OAF page using OAF personalization only (i.e. without directly customizing the code of the OAF page)

Dear Apurba,
I have made some progress.
I have open the Customers OAF Page, queried a customer, selected a site and opened it.
Then chose Personalize "Account Site Address"
There I added a Button on the Header Address level
ID=XXTVL_LASSY_BUTTON
Populated the Additional Text and Prompt properties.
Also set Destination URI=form:SYSADMIN:SYSTEM_ADMINISTRATOR:STANDARD:FND_FNDMNMNU.
The button is now showing in the address page, and when I click on it it opens the seeded Menu form.
I now have to create the custom form and set Destination URI to the Custom Form.
I am also aware how to add parameters to Destination URI.
But could you let me know how to read the value from a OAF page form field and reference it in Destination URI.
I need the value of PARTY_SITE_ID of the Address OAF page.
Alternatively, the Site Number is displayed on the OAF page. If I can read it that will also do. I can use the Site Number in the custom form rather than PARTY_SITE_ID

E-Business Suite Application Dev using OAF and ADF (White Paper Feb. 2008)

Hi,
In Oracle White Paper entitled "E-Business Suite Application Dev using OAF and ADF (Feb. 2008)" it was mentioned on page 7 :
+"When ADF 11g becomes production, we will publish a revised paper that compares OAF with ADF 11g, and discuss development against E-Business Suite."+
I've had no luck finding a new comparison table for OAF R12 with ADF 11g :(
can anyone help me on this?

Error While Inserting Data into table using OAF

I am learning OAF; i am trying into insert the data into table using OAF. I followed the below procedure.
My table(OLF_TEST_TBL) Columns:
EmpID (Number), Ename(VARCHAR2 100), Sal Number, and who columns.
1. created Application Module (AM).
package: oracle.apps.mfg.simplepg.server

2. created simple page
name:EmployeePG

3. Assigned the Application Module to Page
4. Created Entity Object(EO)

note:
1. EMPID column is selected as primary key
2. selected create method, remove method and validation method.
3.checked generate default view object

Coming To page:

1.under main region i created one more region using wizard
selected AM and VO, region style-default single column

Error After clicking the submit button_
I ran the page, page was opened successfully. Once i enter data and click submit button, it's giving the following error.

Cause:
The view object oaf_test_tbl_am.oaf_test_tbl_vo1700_oaf_test_tbl_vo1_practice_test_prc1_oracle_apps_mfg_simplepg_server_oaf_test_tbl_am.oaf_test_tbl_vo1 contained no record. The displayed records may have been deleted, or the current record for the view object may not have been properly initialized.
To proceed, please select the Home link at the top of the application page to return to the main menu. Then, access this page again using the application's navigation controls (menu, links, and so on) instead of using the browser's navigation controls like Back and Forward.

A Master Detail Page is a basically a game between two VOs(Master and Detail mostly connected through a View Link). You can also have a look at the View Link section in the Dev guide. Page Layouts is one thing which you can take a call yourself.

I found the classes the DocumentHelper class is found in
oracle.apps.xdo.oa.common.DocumentHelper
The properties class was in java.util.properties
I compiled the code and when i run it i get the following exception

Hi,
OAF works only with apps so if you are planning something for Oracle Apps you can use OAF, if you are planning to develop new software that is not related with apps then go with ADF, OAF will not work.

Security issue of using oaf

Dear,
We have used oaf to build the online payslip and we believe that oaf inherits all security applying to oracle ebs.
We are concerned about issues related to sniffing, phishing etc… may happen
can some one share any document/note or any material that clearly explains that the security for the custom oaf deployed pages is same as the ebs seeded page.

As per "Oracle Application Framework Developer's Guide Release 12.1.3" [Note 1107973.1]
+"It is the responsibility of the application framework to ensure that HTML transactions are authorized, private, and free from tampering. OA Framework provides built in protection against known HTML hacking strategies, leaving the application developer free to concentrate on application functionality."+
Therefore, generically all OAF pages are the same regards security... i.e. all OAF pages run in the context of the OA Framework security.
Having said that, if you are doing anything yourself within code, for example redirecting URL, then this would be outside the OAF security model and may need special attention by your own security team.

Hiding a filed based on responsibility using oaf personalization

I have 'SAL' filed in my page; I want to hide that filed if i access that from responsibility A and should be shown if i access it from responsibility B.
Could somebody help me how to achieve this using OAF Personalization?
Note:I heard that in 'Functional Administrator' responsibility, you can do something.

You have to follwo below steps.
-> Set profile option Personalize%Self%Serv%Def% to Yes at user level(user you are using to personalize).
-> Navigate to the page you want to personalize
-> Click on Personalize Page in global menu on the top of the page.
-> Click the Choose Context button and select the responsibility for which you want to personalize the item(clear all other fields like site, organization, location,function,industry)
-> Click Apply button. You will get the page hierarichy.
-> Now identity the item you need to personalize and click on personalize icon(pencil icon).
-> Set Rendered property to false/true (if you want to hide the item set false to show set true) and apply.
-> Return to Application
Repeat same steps for other responsibility.

Invoking IPM search using OAF

Hi All,
We have setup an environment in which IPM 11.1.1.6.0 is integrated with EBS 12.1.3 using solution accelerator 11.1.6.0.
I am looking to invoke a search from EBS Supplier details form. Here we need to pass the supplier number to the search created in IPM. We have already created respective search in IPM. We want to invoke a search "Supplier Dcoumets" from EBS button using Oracle Application Framework. This should show the result of the respective search based on the supplier number passed from EBS.
First question is is this possible using OAF? if yes, then what all entries do we need to do in OAF tables to achieve this?

Even I feel that it won't work. and even in case it works, there will be issues with performance and inclusion of outside DB link in Apps which most DBA will avoid at their best. But still Vikash should give it a try.
