Using OLE DB Source (SQL Command) as input to DQS Data Services

Hi,
I am using an OLE DB Source(SQL Command) as the input to my DQS Cleansing task.
When I preview in design view my SQL Command I see rows returned.
Yet at runtime no rows are sent to the DQS Cleansing Task.
Can I use an OLE DB Source(SQL Command) as an input to a DQS Cleansing Task?
Any ideas why it sends no records?

Capture and Save SQL Command that Ran in OLEDB Data Source

Hi,
My company is using SSIS to occasionally generate a file that is then being loaded into a transactional system. At this point, things are not fully automated; the SQL query that is used for the data source is manually altered, SSIS is run, and the
file is uploaded to the other system. Every time the SSIS package runs, a log entry is created with summary information.
I'm wondering: is it possible to capture the SQL command that runs in the data source, and save it with the log entry as part of the package run? This would provide an accurate historical record of what filters were applied to the data that was loaded
to the transactional system.
Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated.

You can schedule this query to run in 2-3 second and can capture the T-SQL and insert into a table.

How to use Java with PL/SQL commands to send an email with attachment

Apologizes in advance if this is the wrong place to ask the question.
I need to use Java with PL/SQL commands to send an email with attachment. My java application runs from the command line and does some magic to gather info from an Oracle 11g db. If the DB has sendmail configured, I'd like to send the results of the data gathering as an attachment to the email addresses. I'm not sure how to do this. I've been reading up on on PL/SQL can send email with UTL_SMTP - with attachments. I'm just not sure how to translate that into being triggered by my Java application. Any suggestions or pointers on what I should read would be appreciated.
Background - I've been programming in Java for 10+ years, but this is my first time using databases. I also have been on these forums for a long time, but lost my profile when it was switched to Oracle.

Can I run all manor of queries in SQL COMMAND as in sql*plus .Put another way
does the new orcale 10 xe (SQL command window) have any restrictions at all in terms
of code ?
P.S. Up to now I think this DATABASE program is great.( still testing large files)

Great that's exactly the answer I was hoping to get, I am new to Oracle products
but not new to SQL and find the new Oracle interface to be top notch compared to any
"FREE" programs out there right now! I tried the free microsoft SQL server program
and found almost no help or free tutorials like Oracle 10 xe has ( Way to go Oracle !)

you can use a subquery in your command to bring back the UnitPrice that is applicable to the max date...see the code below for an idea.
you'll have to change the "UnitPrice" field below to match yours.
note that in the subquery the vendpart table has been aliased as vendpart2 for the subquery to work. also note that the code may not work in your database as Alan aluded to the fact that the syntax is specific to the database type...if you get any database errors please refer to your database manual or a forum for your database type that has a subquery. and of course there may be errors from my typing in the query as it's just being done inside this forum thread...but hopefully this will give you an idea how to do this.

Just double check the code and history.
The bug is fixed in 2011/08/23 and made into SQL 2012 RTM. So I assume you are using 2008 R2, which mainstream support is ended. I am not able to push a fix to that.

Collation for the database. Acts as the default collation in the database.
NULL = Database is not online or AUTO_CLOSE is set to ON and the database is closed.
The only option would be fix the NULL collation databases.

How to handle while passing such multiple values Or is it possible to pass such values or not in SSIS 2012 ?

Putting the whole thing into a variable is certainly a valid solution. The other involves putting the comma delimited list into a table valued variable.

Crystal runs sql command of first sub report in the second sub report ?

Hi,
I have report that contains 3 sub reports.
Each subreport is running his own sql command to retrieve it's data.
When moving from the first subreport to the 2nd subreport, we see on the oracle that the crystal runs the sql command of the 1st subreport, and then the sql command of the 2nd subreport.
The results are fine (he ignores the 1st subreport result in the 2nd subreport), but it delays the showing of the 2nd subreport to show.
Why? The 2nd subreport doesn't need the data of the 1st subreport!
How do I cancel that????
BTW - The 3rd subreport is running only his own sql command (As should be).

Not without more info about the report and the data. If there is nothing linked from the main report to sub1 then it's going to run and return all data, no filtering. And from the sounds of it to take 5 + minutes per query this is going to affect performance for the whole report.
You may want to re-evaluate why and what the subreports are used for. If they all use the same data the link them in the main report use groups to sort the data.
Having subreports in the Details section is asking for performance problems, every record returned will cause the subreport to run. Not knowing what the subs are doing I can't say for sure....
What you should do also is re-evaluate your Commands for each sub and see if you can do it either in one SQL statement or write a Stored Procedure to do all of the data collection. DB Servers are much more efficient at collecting data than CR will ever be. Pushing just the results to CR makes it simply formatting the results in the Designer and no performance hits....
Talk to your DBA on how to optimize your Command SQL's and how to get them into one SQL or into a SP that dumps the final results into a final SQL * from TEMP Table into Crystal.

How to select special character from OLE DB source in SSIS?- Truncation error.

I have to pull data from one Oracle table and for that I am using OLE DB source in SSIS. In OLE DB source I write query like,

I don't how to put this value in table. I use code page 65001(UTF-8) and 1252, but it is not working, and giving error like
[OLE DB Source [16]] Error: Column "DESCRIPTION" cannot convert between unicode and non-unicode string data types.
Data Type of 'DESCRIPTION' source(External) column is varchar(240) and same- varchar(240) I used for output column and in my table's data type. I also tried with varchar(1000) for output column in OLE DB Source but same truncation error.
I also tried to convert DESCRIPTION into navachar using below cast function but got error.

But for testing I am just using OLEDB source and OLE DB destination only in my ssis package.
For Column "DESCRIPTION", data type is VARCHAR(240)
in external column, output column and target table column.
And I tried to cast source column into nvarchar and also set target column to nvarchar to handle this kind of special characters but package is failing,
I also tried TO_NCHAR(DESCRIPTION)
in my source query to convert it to nvarchar but error is something like character mismatch.

SQL Command table linking issues

I have created a simple SQL command in CR 2008 to save the creation of a view on the DB (SQL Server 2005). I then link it to another table from the same DB. Once this was done I began experiencing extremely long run times versus the link with the original view. The SQL command set was copied directly from the view in MS Visual Sudio. The joins in CR are left outers and inner that worked fine with the original view. We ended up running a trace of the SQL Server and found the SQL was producing 21,000 record reads everytime the primary table read a record. It was not following the inner join at all. I did a Show SQL in CR and found that the CR generated SQL looked very strange and not like the typical construction when the view was being used instead of the table What am I doing wrong? Below is a copy of the Show SQL for this particular issue. It seems to be the second command set in italics that causes the issue. That is from the SQL command I created in CR.

As an update, I created a view in MS VIsual Studio and copied the SQL command set into a Crystal SQL command and made changes in the report to use the new CR SQL command. It ran in seconds instead of hours. There is something wrong with the way CR is building the SQL command when a CR SQL command is linked to a normal DB table. HELP! I started using the CR SQL command with only another 1 or 2 tables and it was slower but bearable. This one uses more table and more data and dies. Here is what the SQL command set looks like that I built in MS VS and used to create the CR SQL command. This is from the Show SQL in CR.

FLASHBACK Database : rman vs sql command differnces

I am new to Oracle and want understand the difference and which is the correct way of flashing back the database?
RMAN command vs SQL Command on using FLASHBACK DATABASE
SQL> FLASHBACK DATABASE TO RESTORE POINT BEFORE_ONLINE_TEST; {CODE} Vs rman> run{
     flashback database to restore point BEFORE_TEST_320130313;
     sql "alter database open resetlogs"; }
Referring this article on http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/backup.112/e10642/rcmflash.htm#BGBDCAFA it says we can use both RMAN and SQL command for database flashback.
Questions:
1. Difference between using RMAN and SQL command on database flashback?
2. When to use RMAN or SQL on the database flashback?
3. Which is the Oracle recommended or best way ?

When we issue the SQL Plus command, if there is need of old database backup of archive log, how does that SQL Plus communicate with rman recovery catalog and retrieve?

Javascript: Check Internet connection before attempting to run SQL command on remote server

Good evening,
I am developing a form that reads and posts data from/to a table hosted on a remote PC running XP/SQL Server Express 2008 R2. I access the server through the Internet.
My problem is that if the internet connection happens to be down when I -eg- try to save data to the table using the form, the SQL command tries to reach the server for a while, and eventually crashes.
Is there a way to programatically verify that a remote SQL server is reachable over the Internet before attempting to run a command on it?

Unable to launch a new document in winword 2007 from abap using OLE

Dear Developers,
We have a customized abap report which use OLE to launch a new document and display SAP data in that document. It is working on winword 2003.
When we upgrade our version to office 2007 (winword 2007), the abap report will only launch a blank screen with no new document , no data is displayed.
After reading OSS note 1286768, I tried with sap gui version 7.10 patch 17, but it still did not work.
Some part of the codes below :
CREATE OBJECT wordobj 'Word.Basic' .
CALL METHOD OF wordobj 'AppInfo' = version EXPORTING #1 = 2.
CALL METHOD OF wordobj 'FileNew' EXPORTING #1 = 'normal.dot'.
CALL METHOD OF wordobj 'AppShow'.
Do we need to install any files in SAP server to enable winword 2007?
Do you have any tips to share?
