Using only selected playlists

I use the auto-sync feature of iTunes and I recently tried going from 'Sync all songs and playlists' to 'selected playlists.' To my dismay, this erased everything that was not on the playlists. Is there a way to sync only the music in my library and not the playlists?

*Is there a way to sync only the music in my library and not the playlists?*
No.
You could create one playlist with everything in it and sync that.
Or you could delete all your playlist.
Is there some reason you don't want the playlists on your iPod?

Option to sync only selected playlists is grayed out in iTunes for my iPhone. How can I make it so I don't have to sync my entire library?

    know this might sound silly
    but make sure that
    1) sync music is checked
    2) you have playlist with songs in them
    3) your songs have some sort of sorting form on them (artist, genre, album, etc.)
    also try
rebooting pc and device and reconnecting

  • Loading only selected playlists to iPhone ... HELP

I do not want to load my entire iTunes library to my iPhone 4 (not 4S), but I can't find a way to get it to let me select just certain playlists, either in iTunes or on the phone.

Just a quick update. I've done a factory reset and subsequent restore, and I still can't get music to sync to my iPhone. However, I CAN sync music to my wife's iPhone from the same computer/iTunes. I tried adding a playlist to her phone that is one I'm trying to add to my phone, and it worked on hers with no problem.
Which tells me it's an issue with my iPhone, or with the iTunes settings specific to my phone. Any ideas?

  • I am unable to synch music from selected playlists in my iTunes library onto my new iPod Classic, despite meticulously following the User Guide.

I just purchased an iPod Classic, and after making sure I had the latest ver. of iTunes on my Intel MacMini, printed out the User Guide and carefully began learning how to operate the iPod. My first step was to ensure I had manual control (vs. auto synch) because I want only selected songs and playlists on the iPod, not my whole iTunes Library.
On pg. 24 of the Guide is the topic "Synching music from selected playlists onto iPod Classic." Just what I wanted. OK, I selected iPod "in the source list" (aside: Shouldn't it be "in the device list?" I dispair of imprecision). This brought up the iPod Summary page, showing I had selected Open iTunes when connected and Manually manage music and videos. Next I clicked on the Music tab.
This presented me with Synch Music next to an empty check box. Below it, and entirely grayed out was:
Entire music library (showing a checked box)
Selected Playlists, artists, albums and genres (next to an unchecked box).
There's also a third grayed out item: Include music videos that is checked.
When I selected Synch Music, I got the message: "Are you sure you want to removed existing mlusic, movies and TV shows from the iPod and synch with this iTunes LIbrary?   I selected Cancel because:
    1. The grayed option Entire Music Library is checked, not mly preferred option of Selected playlists, artists, albums and genres. .
    2. I can't find anywhere in the User Guide how to "Select the Playlists" I want to synch to my iPod. At present all I have in iTunes is my list of playlists in the left hand side bar.
OK, my first thought was the checked box in the iPod's Summary window: Manually manage music and videos. So I went there and unchecked it, which immediately brought up an alert  to the effect "Are you sure you want to automatically synch your entire iTunes library, etc. etc...? I quickly cancelled. Thus, I seem to be in a Catch-22 situation.
    So the questions are:
How do I resolve the Synch Music issue so I am assured only selected playlists will be sent to my iPod?
How do I create a list of playlists in my iTunes library to be transferred to my iPod?
How do I manually move a playlist in my iTunes library to my iPod's lists of playlists?
Any help much appreciated. Thanks to all.

For the immediately problem, you can shut down the computer and disconnect the iPod.
There may be a process (program) running on your computer in the background that continuously monitors mounted volumes for things like maintenance, data corruption, and malware.  The iPod's storage is a mounted volume.  If you know of any such program, such as an "anti-virus" utility, and it has settings that allow you to exclude certain volumes, you can set it to ignore the iPod "disk" when connected.
Also, if you are using automatic syncing (not the manual method) to load the iPod, and you have Enable disk use turned ON, turn it OFF.  With Enable disk use turned OFF, iTunes only mounts the iPods disk when syncing, then immediately unmounts the disk.  Thus, other processes you have running on your PC (not iTunes) will have less of a chance to make the disk "in use" and cause this problem.  You won't even have to eject the iPod before disconnecting.

  • Can I wake up iTunes to play from a selected playlist on remote speakers (with a fade-in)?

Is there a way to get my MacBook or iPhone to use a selected playlist from itunes as a wake up alarm - ON REMOTE SPEAKERS? Loads of alarms start up with a selected playlist or song, but they play only on the computer or iPhone or plugged in speakers. I want to wake up to my remote speakers in the bedroom via the wireless AirPlay function. Any ideas would be welcome.

I have practically the same problem, but only with podcasts. From a smartlist having all my podcasts, autofill only puts two onto the shuffle. From a normal playlist, none. I can drag them all into the shuffle. I'm on an iBook with Panther, iTunes 6, September 2005 iPod updater.

  • IPod Selection Playlist

So I have more music than my mini has capacity. Itunes creates this playlist that serves to hold all the music that will fit on my iPod automatically. My question is, though, can I still get other playlists on my iPod? Someone else must have experienced this dilemma of having more songs than will fit on their iPod mini. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

b My question is, though, can I still get other playlists on my iPod? Someone else must have experienced this dilemma of having more songs than will fit on their iPod mini.
    Yes.
Here is how I do it.
Create a new, Smart playlist called iPod Music (or whatever).
Choose 3700MB (on the 4 GB) and 5700MB (on the 6 BG) At Random.
Also, make the first criteria My Rating is Not 1 star.
When you listen to the iPod, rate any song you do not like as 1 Star.
Then I create a few more
    b Smart
    playlists such as;
    - Favorites not listened to in the last 3 weeks.
    - Recently added.
    - Top 25 most listened to.
    The 1st criteria of these Smart playlists is;
    Playlist is iPod Playlist.
Open iTunes preferences, select the iPod tab and select Update only selected playlist and choose the smart playlists you just created.
The songs on the iPod will be updated randomly from your library and any songs you rated 1 star will be removed from the iPod.
This will give you different playlists to use on the iPod.

  • How do I format my iTunes to sync only specified playlists?

Directions provided by "Absolute Beginner's Guide to iPod and iTunes" and by online tutorials by Apple say to connect my iPod, select "Music", and check the "Sync Music" box, and then follow more steps.  My iTunes does not HAVE a "Sync Music" box.  I can find no way to tell iTunes to sync only selected playlists.  Any suggestions??

Those instructions skipped some steps.  Do as follows:
connect my iPod, and let it register.  When the iPod icon appears in the left pane, click that icon.  Then you will see a new set of menu items "Summary, Music, Movies, TV Shows..." Now select "Music", and check the "Sync Music" box, and then follow more steps.

  • I do not want all of the playlists in iTunes to be synced to my iPhone. With iCloud I do not seem to have a choice. How do I select only certain playlists for my iPone?

I have many songs and playlists in my iTunes account.  I do not want all of them synced to my iPhone 5S, but that has happened via iCloud, and it has caused a storage problem on my phone.  How do I select only certain playlists to be synced to my iPhone?

You need to start over with Music. On the iPhone Music screen uncheck sync music. Also, on the Summary screen uncheck "Manually manage music and videos", then sync and it should clear off your phone.
Next, choose the music you want to sync. If you want to fit more on check "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC". This will reduce quality slightly, but it won't be noticable unless you are using $300 headphones.

Same way you did with the previous versions of iTunes.
To view the iPod in iTunes, Ctrl S to show the sidebar.
Create a playlist, add songs and sync that playlist.
Or drag songs to the iPod in iTunes.

  • Can I use automatically select only first line of a caption to include in List of Figures?

Is there a setting in the TOC utility in ID CS6 that will allow me to use only the first sentence in a caption to include in a list of Figures?
    Example
Willard's Wharf, Cocoa, Florida, 1887.   This was Cocoa's first  blah blah blah.  Photo by a dead guy.  courtesy of a nice old lady whose grandmother collected it.
In the example above, the entire passage is currently formatted using a paragraph style sheet in Arno Pro Caption.  When I'm done, I would like to have that first phrase or sentence in bold, which I planned to do with a character style sheet.  The remainder will be in regular type.
Now that I understand more how the TOC utility works, I'm wondering, can I make a paragraph style for the title phrase, and a second paragraph style for the remaining text in the caption that follows  If so, how to I ensure that the second paragraph will follow on the same line where ever the first paragraph style ends?  Nested styles, maybe?  If nested styles are the way to go, comments on or pointers to the simplest strategy to make this work will be appreciated.
Captions are not consistent.  Some have a name and date; others are a Title phrase or sentence, followed, sometimes, by up to several sentences.  Typically, however, there is only one sentence after the title. I also usually have a "Courtesy of . . ." statement acknowledging the source of the photo.
I'm a newbie using id cs6, for the first time, to format a book.  I'm enjoying using the program, but a few details sometimes bring me to a stop.
    Thanks
    Roy

    Roy,
In fact, you only need a char style to control that you correctly mark what you want in the LOF.
    See how I do:
1/ I create the para style "Caption" [color: Red] and insert a grep style in it.
2/ I create the char style "Char_Caption" [color: Blue]. It only needs to control what I want in the LOF.
3/ What I have to do is insert a "N-Joiner" in the "Caption" text. See the grep code of the grep style defined in the "Caption" para style.
4/ I generate the TOC, only with the "Caption" para style. I select the story where I insert the TOC and launch this simple regex.
    Done!

  • How do I select a playlist to copy onto my devices?  On the older version, I could click on each list, then check "sync only checked playlists" and I'd have different playlists on different devices.  How do I do it with this version?  Thank you!

How in 12.1.0.50 can I select a playlist to copy onto my devices from my iMac?  On the older version, I could click on each list, then check "sync only checked playlists" and I'd have different playlists on different devices (iPhone 6, iPod nano).  How do I do it with this version?  Thank you!

    Same way.

  • How can I select properties from dropdown lists using only the keyboard?

    Hi,
I am using SAP Netweaver Studio and when modifying UI elements in views, I want to select the value for a property from the corresponding dropdown list in the Properties view using only the keyboard.
When a property row is selected, "Enter" toggles to Edit mode, Alt+ArrowDown expands the list, but ArrowUp or ArrowDown directly selects the previous/next item list and changes to Selected mode.  Which key is used to navigate between the list items without selecting them immediately?
Thanks a lot. I deal with lots of views and this would save me quite a few massage hours
