Using Oracle reports

To all, can someone tell me if when down loading the free version of
Oracle Developer Suite 10g (10.1.2.0.2) do you have access to the reports developer tutorial? If yes what are the username password and does the tutorial
information have to also be downloaded?
Thanks

The reports tutorial pdf can be found here:
http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25016_04/doc/dl/bi/B14364_01/B14364_01.pdf
You must have access to an existing database where you can create the tables required for the tutorial, the script and how to run the script are part of the tutorial.

  • Can we use oracle reports with php

    hello
    any body know about that oracle reports can use in php or not if not any reason if can use any example oracle report and php ill very thankful to all for this help bye
    from farooq

    It depends on what you mean by 'use oracle reports within php'. If you generate reports as urls (don't know if oracle reports supports this but I think it does), you can just link to them or catch them in an iframe.
    If you are talking about generating a report from inside a php script, you can use a system() call to execute oracle reports tools such as 'rwrun'. If you do this, make sure your php server has proper oracle environment variables (such as ORACLE_HOME)

  • Use Oracle Reports with Jdeveloper 11

    Hi,
    My next question. How to use Oracle Reports with jdeveloper 11. I have more oracle reports (used with a existing forms application) and i need to migrate this application to web-adf application. I think that is very powerful to use this oracle definition reports but i not know ho to do it.
    thanks,

    Read the publishing reports manual of Oracle reports to see how to Web enabled your Oracle reports. You can then invoke them from an ADF application either by calling a URL or using a Web service interface.

  • Specifying the output order of elements in XML using Oracle Reports.

    Hi,
    I am developing an Oracle Reports report, using Report
    Builder 6.0.8.17.0 on WinNT. The requirement is that the report
    will only ever be used to generate XML output.
    However, due to a bug in the XML Parser at the other end,
    it's necessary to have certain elements appear in the XML before
    others.
    e.g. This simplistic example shows XML output from Reports
    runtime, which looks something like this:
    <DEPT id="10">
    <NAME>Government</NAME>
    <EMP id="4435">
    <SAL>12000</SAL>
    <ENAME>Harry Boland</ENAME>
    <EMP>
    <EMP id="8643">
    <SAL>21000</SAL>
    <ENAME>Michael Collins</ENAME>
    <EMP>
    <EMP id="9900">
    <SAL>47000</SAL>
    <ENAME>Eamonn de Valera</ENAME>
    <EMP>
    <LOCATION>
    <ADDRESS type="street">Kildare St.</ADDRESS>
    <ADDRESS type="city">Dublin</ADDRESS>
    </LOCATION>
    </DEPT>
    However, the application that is parsing the XML fails due to
    the fact that it expects the LOCATION element to be the first
    within the DEPT element. i.e. before the NAME or any of the EMP
    elements.
    The way I have developed this is by creating a master query
    which creates a master group, G_DEPT, with two column, ID and
    NAME, and two detail queries and corresponding detail groups, EMP
    and LOCATION. These groups are joined to the master using the
    datalink facility in Report Builder.
    Is there any way in Report Builder I can specify that the
    LOCATION element is to be output for each DEPT element before any
    other element belonging to DEPT?
    Thanks,
    Iibhear.

    The order of the elements is determined by the order of the columns in the Data Model. Note that you can also use the "Exclude from XML output" property to completely omit columns form the XML output.

    This applies to Reports 10g. I don't know if it also works in 6i.

  • How to use Oracle Reports in an enterprise app, wrt file i/o?

    How are people architecting their enterprise applications to make use of Oracle Reports, with respect to transmission of the output?
    Do you have session beans which call the Oracle Reports JSP pages, and have them write the output to file names, the names of which you then transmit to the web layer? Alternatively, is there any practical way to "stream" the output directly from the EJB layer to the web layer and to the client?

    Hello David,
    When you call the report server via an URL, with DESTYPE=CACHE, the output is directly sent to the web browser.
    I am not sure to well understand you question, but if you want to control the report from a session bean, you can write a bean that call report server with an URL and get the output. Today, we do not have any EJB to control Oracle Reports.
    I am interested by the type of beans/architecture you would like to see in Reports, could you please send me a detailled example of a type of bean you would like to have ? ([email protected])

  • Can I use Oracle Report Server to print from APEX? How?

    Hello, we have Oracle Application server, Oracle Report server and now we just installed APEX and doing a pilot project. Since we don't have BI Publisher, how can we use our Oracle Report server to print from apex report? Can it be done and if yes where can I get some detail info that I can share with our DBA?
    I have in past asked questions about the printing issues but I have been refered to http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/configure_printing.html#01 section 5 which talks about another installation.
    Thanks so very much for any info.
    -iahmadi

    You can use FOP, but the formatting of the xsl (Xml Style Sheets) takes a little work. If you have the Oracle Reports server up and access to the development product, why not go that route?
    You want the filtering and sorting and searching, yes, but then you also want to print them out.. Then you would probably be best looking at replacing the Oracle Reports setup with BI Publisher. You can convert Most your reports over to bi publisher layouts easily.. (I have heard of some reports that do require recreating in Bi Publisher from Oracle Reports..)
    Then you can have your Apex Reports and call Bi Publisher from APEX and everyone wins..
    Is your Oracle Reports stuff used by non-APEX applications, that could be modified to use Bi Publisher?
    Thank you,

    I have to create a custom destination for Reports in JDeveloper, but I don't find starter doc (for JDeveloper).

    Hi,
    Unfortunately this demo is one of those old demos which have technical problems with new IE + JDK versions, so we had to take it off. The link to this demo is no longer available on OTN:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/htdocs/search.html?cat=INT&col=DEM&submit=Search
    You may have bookmarked it. If it is available on any OTN page, pl let me know.
    For Oracle Reports integration with JDev, pl see the tool / utility available at this page:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/htdocs/search.html?cat=INT&col=UTI&submit=Search
    This tool/utility is currently available with 10g (9.0.4), and has not yet been tested with 10g R2 (10.1.2).
    But if your objective is only to use to use JDev to develop a pluggable destination, you may want to see the pluggable destination API documentation available here, which can be developed with any tool including JDeveloper:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/apis/plugDestination/index.html
    Some plugin destinations and their source code is available here for reference. As you can see, its pretty straightforward - most of these samples have just a few lines of custom code:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/pluginxchange/index.html
    Of course JDev-specific starter tutorials are available here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/index.html

  • How to use oracle reports?

    Hello, I succeed to install e-business suite and now I need to learn about oracle reports. Do I have to install it or it's already in the apps? If not, how do I install it? There isn't any oracle reports disk in the bundle I have. Thx.

    Yudi,
    Wheun u installed Apps, By Deafult, Deafult reports for each product like AP, GL , AR etc. are installed.
    If u want to develop any custom report for any product like AP, GL. It means, if default reports does not serve ur requirement, then u have to develop custom report.
    To Develop Custom Report, U have to install the Devloper 6i in the Clients System.
    U can download the Developer 6i from Oracle Site and install it in the Clients system from where u want to develop

  • Printing Chinese Date format using Oracle Reports

    Hi ,
    I need to print the date as for e.g, 2006 4 12 (Year Month and Day) with a chinese character after each of the three components, representing the year, Month and Day.
    When running the report with the format mask as RRRR Mon DD, I get the chinese character for the Month component and not for the year and day. I tried with different format masks available and also tried with somehting which is not in list as well. But, I couldn't get the intended format.
    Is there anyone who has done this before? If so, pl. let me know the way to get this done.
    regards,
    tilak

    Hi Olga,
    If  the Date in the database is date (not datetime) means you cannot use a DD-MON-RR HH:MI:SS in your reports.
    If you want to show date with time means, change the properties in Oracle Forms of that date field and assign datetime as datatype.
    So that the value inserted to the field will become datetime. and automatically if you use this column in your report you will get date along with time.
    Hope this clears...

    Regards,

    Look in the Reports Builder Help:
    If you want to use lexical references in your SELECT clause, you should create a separate lexical reference for each column you will substitute. In addition, you should assign an alias to each lexical reference.
    Does adding the column alias solve the problem?
