Using PJC in Form Builder on Linux Platform(RHEL4)

Hello All,
<br>I've installed Developer suite 10g R2 on RHEL4. I've a form designed which uses a calendar PJC. I've stored the calendar.jar file in the Java folder under the Oracle forms home directory and mentioned the name of the jar file (calendar.jar) in the section in formsweb.cfg
<p>
<br># Forms applet archive setting for JInitiator
<br>archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar,calendar.jar
</p>
Incidentally the same form when I compiled and run in Windows worked perfectly along with the bean... There I had specified an additional entry of the classpath of the PJC in the FORMS_BUILDER_CLASSPATH parameter in the registry. I would like to know where there is anything I've to do similar to this on Linux.. kindly point out to me If I've missed something..
<br>Regards,
<br>Arun vijay.V

Not sure if this will help your specific problem but we added
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19
to the end of our .env files
What is the error message you are seeing? Is there any error in the java console?

  • ClassCastException using PJC in Forms 9.0.4.1.0

    I'm trying to setup a simple PJC in a Forms using Oracle Forms 9.0.4.1.0 but I get a FRM-92100 with a java.lang.ClassCastException: nl.eurotransplant.pjc
    I've create a Form with a simple Java bean and set the implementation class to "nl.eurotransplant.pjc"
    I've also created the class nl.eurotransplant.pjc implementing the IView interface. I've implemented all the abstract methods from IView but none of them are doing anything (yet) other the system.out.println to the console.
    Packaged the nl.eurotransplant.pjc in a JAR file and included that in the archive parameter for Forms.
    From the console I can see the constructor of the PJC is being called and the init method is being called and completes. No more messages after that.
    Does anyone of you have a suggestion as to what I'm doing wrong?

    I searched some more on the Forum and eventually found a whitepaper on PJC's in Forms 6i. That gave me the tip not to implement the IView interface, but just extend the VBean class.
    That's what I just tried and no more classCastException. That seems to fix my issue. No to develop the bean itself...

  • Alternative use of date picker in Forms Builder

    Hi
    I am looking for a way to create event based actions by use of standard functionality.
    I have created a calendar module by use of the Forms Builder. I would like to add a date picker to a “show form” and add some events based on user actions to this page.
    When a date is selected (by a click on a date from the “small” date picker) a new page with events for the selected day should be displayed instead
    Have anyone any alternative experience with the date picker in the end user environment?
    Regards
    John

    Hi there,
    I presume that you want to run a report with date parameters. The parameter form of Oracle Reports has limited capabilities. It certainly does not have a date picker (Calendar). However, you can use SQL to give you a list of dates for the LOV but it will not be elegant.
    If you have Oracle Forms, it can call the calendar for the user to pick the date. The values are then passed to the report as parameters.
    Hope the above helps.
    Best Regards,
    John

  • Display wpc page containing articles created using forms builder

    Hi everybody,
    I need to create a wpc site with different pages. Each page will need to contain different categories of articles.
    These articles will be created using the xml forms builder and for each category there is a specific KM folder (the articles are classified using taxonomies).
    In a page "food", all the articles from the "food" folder will need to be displayed (title, date and content). this for every article in the folder.
    I already had a look at HTML collection renderer but this is not providing what I need.
    So I need something else but I have no idea what I can use for this nor where to start looking for it.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Calculate Total in Forms Builder using only dates.

    I am using Oracle 10g forms builder. I need to know how the total number of hours worked by students. In the current database, only the date is saved since everyone assumes that the students work for 2 hours each day. So if a date is present in the student's record, that means the student worked for 2 hours for that date.
    However,I don't know how to calculate the total number of hours. I tried using the COUNT() function from SQL and assigning it to a variable but it keeps giving me errors.
    How can I calculate the total number of hours?

    weblogic server installation is perfect no errors at all.
    i also got the errors i got during installation ( im_emagent.mk and while running command gcc) . but thanks to OTN Forums i had managed to find out a fix. but on this error only solution i got is
    TRY WINDOWS . but what about linux then? is there any solution on this error?
    i am not much used to front-end ( java i mean). i am Oracle DBA Actually n want to install n try Weblogic
    Kindly Help...

    You can just copy the relevant parts (the ones marked with error). You can also look at the timing
    when it happened the reports environment did not start.
    From what i remember this could be a memory issue, standard every managed server (WLS_FORMS and WLS_REPORTS) instance
    is configured with 1024m bytes of memory.
    What we did is first install a forms instance and after that a reports instance. After the forms installation we adjusted the
    memory parameters in setWLSEnv (<middleware-home>/user_projects/domains/<domain-name>/bin). Look in this file
    for references to WLS_FORMS (something similar to: if [ "${SERVER_NAME}" = "WLS_FORMS" ] ; then).
    Another thing which springs to my mind is, which products did you select. If you just want Forms and Reports
    you can select just the following:
    - Oracle Forms
    - Oracle Reports
    - Developer Tools aan.
    - Management Components
    - Oracle HTTP Server
    and deselect the other options:
    - Oracle Portal
    - Oracle Discoverer
    - Oracle WebCache
    - Clustered (if you are not using clustering)
    We also had to fix the following files (i do not think that you have to do this since your Forms did not show any problems):
    - (On Windows) Copy the file msvcr71.dll (FMW/windows/extra) to WINDOWS/system32.
    - Copy the file mod_wl_ohs.so (FMW/<operating-system>/extra) to <middleware-home>/as_1/ohs/modules.

  • How To Use Recursion In Forms?

    I have the following table

    Coulmns:
    Project_num Number(6) PK
    Project_Title
    Project_status
    Parent_project_Number Number(6) FK (It’s a foreign key for the project

    Am using the Oracle Forms Builder to develop the following screen with the following data
    Project Number: ……….
    Parent Project Number: ……..

    I have the following case that I don’t know how to implement:
    Example:
    The user create the following Project Numbers
    Project number: 100 >>> Original or parent
    New project 105 >>> Child of 100
    New project 107 >>> Child of 105
    New project 109 >>> Child of 107
    So when the user re query 100 the Childs project filed should have 105,107 and 109 as a recursion of parents as shown below.
    Screen Result:
    Project Number: 100
    Parent Project Number :
    Childs Projects:
    105
    107
    109
    Another query with project number =107

    Project Number: 107
    Parent Project Number : 105
    Childs Projects:
    105
    100
    If any body has any idea in how to implement this idea using oracle forms and SQL please help me. Its urgent..
    Thanks in advanced..

    Hmmm, looks like you can't update a connect by prior view. That's a shame.
    Anyway, here's what you need:
    CREATE TABLE test
    (child number
    ,parent number);
    INSERT INTO test VALUES (1, null);
    INSERT INTO test VALUES (2, 1);
    INSERT INTO test VALUES (3, 1);
    INSERT INTO test VALUES (4, 2);
    INSERT INTO test VALUES (5, null);
    INSERT INTO test VALUES (6, 5);
    INSERT INTO test VALUES (7, 6);
    INSERT INTO test VALUES (8, 5);
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW test_hier_vw
    AS
    select lpad(' ',2*(level-1)) || to_char(child) hier
    from test
    start with parent is null
    connect by prior child = parent;
    SQL> select hier from test_hier_vw

  • Desname parameter works fine in Report builder but fails in Forms builder

    Hi,
    I need some help with my current task. Here is my problem.
    I am working on Oracle 10g. My reports and Forms builder version is 10.1.2.3.0.
    My objective is to use Forms builder to call a report which will direct the output directly to the printer without preview.
    First , in report builder , I use the Parameter Form builder and set Report parameter DESTYPE = PRINTER and the DESNAME automatically changes to PCL6 ( which is the network printer name I am using).
    When I run the report , the output is directed to the printer and it works just fine.
    But in Forms builder , when I call the same report, set the DESTYPE as Printer and DESNAME as 'PCL6' , it gives an error Invalid printer name 'PCL6' specified by parameter DESNAME.
    I tried searching in this forum, it says the error is due to an invalid printer name specified in the DESNAME. But if my printer name is invalid, I wonder how the same printer name works well in Report builder?
    My coding in Forms as below :
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY( repid, REPORT_DESTYPE,PRINTER);
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY( repid, REPORT_DESNAME,'PCL6');
    Appreciate if anyone can help. Thanks
    Regards
    Shiva

    Hi Puppethead,
    I have tried with your suggestions.
    the following condition -- did not work
    ( (mgr_name = :manager name)
    OR (mgr_name LIKE DECODE(:manager name, 'ALL', '%', NULL)))
    but for the other condition ---
    ( (mgr_name = :manager name)
    OR (mgr_name LIKE DECODE(nvl(:manager name, 'ALL'), 'ALL', '%', NULL)))
    is wrong because, :manager name cud be null, when it is null, it takes 'ALL' i.e. '%' which shud not be the case.
    if the user enters null, it has to display records with null only but with the above condition it takes '%'
    The main issue which i dont understand is, the report works fine for the first time. for the second time, the report takes null values . why is it taking null values for the second time.
    Thanks

  • Oracle forms builder - windows or unix?

    Until recently we've been developing on Forms Builder 6i on our Sun/Solaris box. Now however, we want to move to developing using Forms 10g. We've already recompiled all our forms on the unix box, which has Application Server 10g and an 11g database. Do we stick to using the version of Form Builder on the unix box, or go with the Windows forms? I'm not keen on the unix version, never have been - it's rather clunky, but all our forms/libraries source code is on the server. What do people generally use? I've been ftp-ing files but this is no good longer term - is it best to go with a samba share?

    Thanks Tony,
    Yes we do still want to deploy on unix. Up until now we've been using unix source control to book modules in and out, as well as using the unix version of form builder. We don't have any other source control software so we'd still need to book in and out on unix. I'd still like to use the Windows forms builder, but we'd prefer to avoid having multiple copies of the source code on windows.

  • What is forms builder version for R12  ? prob. for 6i forms  ?

    hi..guys..
    Currently we have oracle apps..11.5.10-----> forms version 6i
    Now, we are upgrading apps to R12...so all the custom forms which are in 6i needs to be migrated to forms 10g so they can be compatible with oracle EBS release 12.
    So, I am opening forms which were created using 6i in form builder 10g. Then getting connected with the database created for R12...so it takes R12 library references...so at this time forms builder 10g is crashing......
    I am using FORMS 32 BIT VERSION 9.0.4.0.19 (PRODUCTION)..Oracle Developer Suite 10g...to modify and compile 6i forms...so I can put them on R12 instance...
    Problem is everytime I try to compile 6i form after opening it in 10g forms builder, it crashes ....so what is the best way to compile 6i forms to make them compatible with R12 ....?
    thanks...

    Does this happen to all forms or certain ones only?
    You need to open the forms in Form Builder 10g (Oracle Developer Suite 10g (10.1.2.0.2)), compile it, save it then upload it back to the server.
