Using programmatic windows copy and paste functions within a form

Hi All,
My client is using the "mouse navigation limit" set to item, which is creating some interesting challenges.
I'm using copy_region and paste_region to copy to and from the paste buffer. However, there does not seem to be an easy to use "highlight all text in the field" function, which you can use prior to the copy.
Also if you wish to append the pasted text to the end of the field, but can't use the mouse to move to the end of the field, you need to programmatically put the cursor at the end of the field.
The code I am currently using on a non-navigable button, to paste is:

     current_field varchar2(100);
begin     
     current_field := name_in('system.current_item');
     go_item('big_text');
     paste_region;
     go_item(current_field);
end;

put an item from a control block onto the canvas and give it a height of zero. then try this:
declare
  current_field varchar2(100);
begin
  current_field := name_in('system.current_item');
  --go_item('big_text');
  go_item('control.item');
  :control.item := null;
  paste_region;
  :big_text := :big_text||:control.item;
  go_item(current_field);

Navigating to the control block will cause the record to be validated, so you might need the control item to be a non-database item on the same record.
