Using restore points WITHOUT flashback possible (in Oracle Express versio)?

For development I am using Oracle Express 10g version rather than Enterprise version.
Unfortunately the "Flashback" feature is NOT available in Express version (only in Enterprise).
I can CREATE a RESTORE POINT but I can NOT go back to it with a Flashback instruction like
FLASHBACK DATABASE TO RESTORE POINT myrp234;
Is there a workaround for this in Oracle Express?
Being able to CREATE a RESTORE POINT is useless if I cannot go back to this RP.
So I guess there must be another way?

Or is the latter feature only available in the 11g ENTERPRISE version?Flashback Database is Enterprise Edition feature and not available in XE edition.

  • Automatic Purchase Requisition using Reorder Point without MRP Run

    Dear Freinds,
    My client wants Purchase Requisition should be automatically created as soon as the stock falls below reorder level without MRP run.
    Is this possible? if possible then what are the settings required.
    Thanks
    Prashant Atri

    Dear,
    It is not possible in standard SAP.
    What is the problem to take MRP run?
    You can take the MRP run in background through MDBT so system will create automatic Purchase Requisition using Reorder Point.
    Hope clear to you.

  • Using VGA display without EDID possible?

    Hello,
    I plan to buy a Mac mini in the near future but I have a rather specific concern about the display connectivity in advance:
    Is it possible to use an analogue VGA display that doesn't deliver any EDID/DDC ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EDID ) with the current Mac mini via the Display Port-VGA adapter.
    I'm asking this because a PC with nVidia GF9400 onboard graphics and Windows 7 or Vista immediately turns off the VGA signal when the OS is completely booted.
    I have a MBP (4,1/Early '08) and could use the display in question with the DVI-VGA adapter after manually setting the correct resulution and refresh rate.
    Can I safely assume that the Mac mini's GF 320M behaves the same way with the Display Port-VGA adapter? I don't have any device with a display port output yet so I can't really test it myself.
    There's a concerning customer comment to the Display Port-VGA adapter in the German Apple Online Store stating that this customer couldn't connect a Samsung LCD TV with the adapter.
    Thank you very much for the help!

    Thanks for the tool tip. Seems like the display has EDID after all:

    heres the scenario:
    i install adobe CS5.5 just last day,

  • RNR and Windows Vista Restore Points

    Hello,
    Is the Rescue and Recovery program able to use restore points created in Vista? I recently had registry corruption and my X61s would not boot into Windows. The Lenovo tech blithely parroted: "reimage the machine". Mercifully I had a 2 week old back-up under RNR. A related question would be whether RNR can use full backups created under Vista since RNR backups are excruciatingly slow.
    Thanks,
    Manish

    as fas as i know RnR is diffrerent from Windows Restore, so if you use both you get double backups and therefore doble chances to restore your info in this case, i prefer RnR backups rather than vista because you can get into the menu even if windows cant boot, you might want disabel windows restore and recover that disk space used

  • Re: Deleting system restore point in XP

    How can I delete a system restore point in XP. In Oct 08 my PC date was incorrectly set to Nov 08 and System Restore created various restore points. Now PC date is set to Oct 08 what will happen in Nov? Can I delete Restore points?

    Thanks for your input. Problem was that once November arrived I felt the system would be confused by the conflict of dates. In the event I switched off System Restore completely, which wipes out all existing restore points. I then switched it back on and created a new restore point. Only possible drawback was there were then no PREVIOUS restore points, but as everything on PC was working correctly on the day I did this there was no need for previous restore points to be kept.
    Once again, thanks for your advice,

  • Oracle Express in Mac

    Hi guys,
    Is it possible install oracle express in mac os lion?
    I found this thread in Internet but the link to download a oracle version to mac is dead.

    http://blog.rayapps.com/2009/04/12/how-to-install-oracle-database-10g-on-mac-os-x-intel/
    can anybody help me?
    Regards,
    Renan

    >
    I found this thread in Internet but the link to download a oracle version to mac is dead.As noted the 10g version have been removed. Afaik, all "10g" branded products/editions are removed since the release had turned an age nearly prehistoric.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/macos/whatsnew/index.htmlAs you can see from the page linked to, 10.2.0.4 is the latest (and it's removed, as stated) version available. Note that it has/had software requirement including "Apple Mac OS X Server 10.5.4" (Leopard). The Install guide even adds "Only the versions listed in the previous table are supported. Do not install the software on other versions of Apple Mac OS X."
    I think there may have been some plans or so to have a 11.2 version ready during this year... with destined quarted got rolled forward a few times. But now considering that 12.1 / "12c" (or whatever it will be) is on the way and that Apple already released Mountain Lion (10.8), I would say you'll have to wait and see what 12c delivers during next year.

  • Reset to previous RESTORE POINT only possible with FLASHBACK ?

    Ok, I can create a Restore Point (in v10g) by a command like:
    CREATE RESTORE POINT foobar;
    Actually I expected a symmetric command which reverts the whole database back
    with a command like
    RESET to RESTORE POINT foobar;
    However I did not found such a (or similar) command.
    Instead the only way I found was by a FLASHBACK command:
    FLASHBACK DATABASE TO RESTORE POINT foobar;
    Is this correct? Is there no other command for reverting back to a previous RESTORE POINT?
    Peter

    HI
    Well there is no such command "RESET to RESTORE POINT foobar".....its... "Flashback database to restore point"
    now question is that why we use flashback database to restore point? for example we want to run some application on our database but we are not sure that it might create some unwanted changes in our database ...so we mount our database and enable flashback then we create restore point let say "create restore point beforeupgrade"....and then we run our application now if we find some unwanted changes in our database we will flashback database to created restore point.
    here is the link to understand more......

    for which there is going to be a release tonight so want to create a guaranteed restore point for this RAC database.
    I have googled many and found some ways, but before I implement it wanted a reviews from experts here.
    Note: We already have db_recovery_file_dest set up in ASM...db_flashback_retention_target=1440 and db_recovery_file_dest_size=200GB with arch mode ON.
    The steps are
    STOP the RAC Database on Both Nodes...
    Node1:
    $srvctl stop database -d
    $Srvctl stop database –d master1
    Node2:
    $srvctl stop database -d
    $Srvctl stop database –d master2
    And now start one instance only in mount state:
    On node1:
    SQL> startup mount
    Now enable flashback on Node1...
    SQL> alter database flashback on;
    SQL> alter database open;
    SQL>CREATE RESTORE POINT before_upgrade GUARANTEE FLASHBACK DATABASE;
    Now start the second instance…
    $srvctl start instance -d -i
    $srvctl start instance –d master1 –d master2
    Please let me know if there is something needs to be rectified.
    Regards,
    Ritz

    The steps look fine.
    Presumably you've already checked to see if the database is in flashback mode and it isn't...hence you putting it into flashbac mode?
    Probably just typos but it looks like you have interchanged database names and instance names in your commands....you have the following commands.  The srvctl commnds can be run from any node  (ie you do not have to run it on node1 to shutdown instance1 and node2 to shutdown instance2).
    Node1:    srvctl stop database –d master1
    Node2:    srvctl stop database –d master2
    You would run either:
    Any node:    srvctl stop database -d master (assuming you database name is master...this will shut down both instances)
    OR shutdown each instance individually
    Any node:    srvctl stop instance -d master -i master1
    Any node:    srvctl stop instance -d master -i master2
    Same commnds as above to start using "srvctl start"...the following start commands do not look right to me:
    srvctl start instance -d -i
    srvctl start instance –d master1 –d master2

  • Guaranteed restore point Vs catdwgrd.sql downgrade for oracle 12c

    I understand that we have two ways to downgrade (assuming compatible parameter is not modified) when we upgrade a 11.2.0.3 database to oracle 12c.
    I am curious to know advantages of catdwgrd.sql when compared to guaranteed restore point downgrade. I think guaranteed restore point looks very simple
    compared to catdwgrd.sql. Also I think oracle doesn't exactly bring the database back to the same state when we use catdwgrd.sql whereas
    guranteed restore point brings us back to the same state.
    Thank You
    Sarayu

    Which method you choose will depend on your circumstances. This blog post may help

    A third possible option is to simply restore the database from backups

  • How do you get firefox 4 to save tabs and windows and restore them? Don't say set preferences to open them on startup or use restore previous session under history; those do not work. Or is it no longer possible to save windows and tabs?

    Question
    How do you get firefox 4 to save tabs and windows and restore them? Don't say set preferences to open them on startup or use restore previous session under history; those do not work. Or is it no longer possible to save windows and tabs?

    '''IT'S A EASY AS IT SHOULD BE.'''
    This is essentially paulbruster's answer, but I've added the steps some might assume, but which aren't so obvious to those of us who are new at this, like me.
    This solution might ''appear'' to be long and complicated, but after you follow the directions once, you'll find it's quick, clean, and simple. Almost like they designed it this way.
    # If you haven't already, open a bunch of tabs on a few different subjects.
    # Click the List All Tabs button on the right side of the tab strip.
    # Select Tab Groups.
    # Create a few groups as described [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/what-are-tab-groups#w_how-do-i-create-a-tab-group here] , i.e. just drag them out of the main thumbnail group into the new groups they create.
    # Now click on any thumbnail in any new group, but not the original big default group you may have left some tabs in.
    #A regular Firefox window will open, but'' only the tabs in that group will be visible.'' You also now have the Tab Groups button in the tab strip.
    # Right click on any tab, and there it is: Bookmark All Tabs. Click on it in the list of options. Or you can hit Ctrl+Shift+D instead and go straight to the dialogue box from the tab without any clicks. But don't go looking for this familiar option anywhere else, 'cause it's not there.
    # Now pick an existing folder or create a new one just like you would have before and '''shlpam!''' there they are. New folders are supposed to end up in the Unsorted category all the way at the very bottom, but for some reason mine show up at the bottom of my last sorted category.
    # DO NOT CLICK THE UPPER-RIGHTMOST X to close this group of tabs. This will close ALL of your tabs in all groups, currently visible or not. At least it asks if you're sure first. Instead, click your new Tab Groups button to return to the Boxes 'O Thumbnails window, and click the X in the group box you just bookmarked.
    # Click on another thumbnail to repeat the process with another group, or click on a thumbnail in the big default box to return to the original FF window. You can also click the Tab Groups button at the upper right, or Ctrl+Shift+E, which will also get you ''into'' the Boxes 'O Nails window ''from'' FF.
    # So now when you reopen FF after shutdown, simply select your folder from your Bookmarks and Open All in Tabs. '''Just like paulbruster said. '''

  • Remote connection to a database using TOAD, but without Oracle db on PC

    I want to connect to a remote database using TOAD from my PC but without having to install Oracle database on my PC.
    Is it possible?
    If yes, where do I enter the database IP address & port number?
    I am using TOAD Freeware version 8.5.0.50g
    (I want to achieve the exact thing with TOAD as it can be done with "OraCmd" program.)

    How did you create your tns entry? Manually or via netca?
    If netca is not used, I would recommend to delete the old tns entry from tnsnames.ora file manually and add the same entry back via netca utility.
    PartA.
    1) Make sure listener is up (for example on the server 192.168.0.33 you are trying to connect) before you start netca. Most probably it is on 1521 port unless you changed it.
    Assuming your server on *NIX:
    $ ps -ef |grep lsnr
    the above command will give you all the listeners which are up and running.
    If listener is not up, bring it up.
    $ lsnrctl start listener
    the above command will start listener called "LISTENER" on default port 1521. Ignore this if the listener is already up.
    PartB
    Assuming your client machine is on Windows,
    1) start --> run --> cmd --> netca
    2) You will see "Oracle Net Configuaration Assistant: Welcome" window. --> next
    3) Pick the 3rd radio button "Local Net Service Name Configuartion" --> next
    4) Pick the "ADD" button. --> next
    5) Provide the service name. (It is usually database name). Assuming my database name is FCMAT, I will give FCMAT --> next
    6) Pick "TCP" --> next
    6) Instead of the hostname, add the ip address of the host (for example 192.168.0.33 and
    "Use the standard port of 1521"--> next
    7) "Yes, perform a test" (this is why you have to have the listener up to test it) -->next
    8) It will fail as it doesn't have any password. Click on "Change Login" and provide the SYSTEM password and click "OK". If listener is up on the server and password is right and there are no connectivity issues going on, test will SUCCEED. --> next
    9) Here you will provide Net Service Name. You can give whatever you like to give here but usually giving instance name will help. AGain, I will give FCMAT. -->
    10) Click "NO" to configure another net service name. --> next
    11) click "Finish"
    The above steps will create a tnsnames.ora entry similar to this.
    FCMAT =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.0.33)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = fcmat)
    Part3
    1) start your sqlplus utility
    2) provide username system
    3) provide password
    4) provide FCMAT in host string.
    and you should be able to connect via sqlplus and TOAD.
    If you are still getting the error, please provide us the exact error.
    --Moid M
    P.S. tnsnames.ora / listener.ora / sqlnet.ora can be found $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin directory.

  • Since update to 20.0.1 I have lost the "restore points" I used to have under "Tools". My life is now ruined. How can i get back to where I was a week ago?

    I am operating under Windows XP SP3. I have always,previously, been able to restore my "crashed" sessions under Mozilla Firefox. Since "trusting" in the most recent update to Mozilla, my life is now in "RUINS". I hope you have a way for me to get back to the "world" that was working for me to finish a project me and my late wife, Joy, were working on that I had "many" tabs opened to accomplish this "tribute" and "honor" to her memory. If not, damn you to Hell for what you have done to me!!!!!!!

    Is it possible you were using the Session Manager extension for this functionality of having multiple restore points on the Tools menu? You can check whether it became disabled, and check for an update, as follows.
    * orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category - note that the disabled extensions cluster in a grayed out area at the bottom
    * orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > "gear" icon > Check for Updates
