Using run_product to launch Oracle Discoverer

I am looking for an example of using run_product to launch an Oracle Discoverer 3.1 worksheet. For example, I want to run a Discoverer file called emp_query.dis, and execute the worksheet or page titled 'salary'. I want to initiate this from a when-button-pressed trigger.
Thank you in advance for your help. Patrick

You can't do it from Run_Product, - you will have to use the HOST command and pass the full paramater list to envoke the Disco file.

  • Using RUN_PRODUCT to launch report - WEB.

We are in the process of implementing the Forms and Reports

When I run the form from D2K runtime and launch the report,

The documentation says setup the following environment variables:
    FORMS50_OUTPUT, FORMS50_MAPPING, FORMS50_REPFORMAT. Then after
the variables are set, the report can be called with the

We have these variables set, has anyone experienced problems

  • How to Create three dimentional graph using Oracle Discoverer

    Hi,
How can I plot four numeric values against the time period using three axes in oracle discoverer. e.g. If I want to plot unit cost, total cost, total sale, and total profit for a given period. I am using oracle discoverer 10.1.2.0.0
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks

What is the one message you are trying to get your graph to convery? Personally, I think the key thing is to keep it simple, just because your data has many dimensions it does mean that you should overload users with information. I would stick to a simple dual aixs combo graph where total cost and total sales are shown as bars against Y1 and total profit is shown as a line against Y2.
You have total cost so adding unit cost is unlikely to provide additional information and it just adds clutter and confusion to your graph.
One graph type that might help provide a more powerful message is the bubble-chart which is used to perform quadrant analysis. We have provided a smalla rticl on the benefits of using bubble graphs on the BI Blog:

I am having problem in using RUN_PRODUCT in oracle apps 11.0.3. Error in oracle apps is

  • Not able to use RUN_PRODUCT in Oracle Apps11.0.3

I am getting FRM-40733 error when trying to call a report from forms. I have registered the form and when calling the report Iam getting the FRM-40733 error.
Please let me know what can be done .
    Thanks,
    Previn

In forms 4.5 you use run_product, so using it is OK.
I don't know if you can test your form and report stand alone (outside Oracle Apps). Does that work? If so, it is likely an Oracle Apps problem.
Also, check if your Forms Developer version and Oracle Apps Forms runtime version are the same.
There is a special forum for Oracle Apps. You can try there.
If it doesn't work stand alone either it is a problem in your form. Post your code here.

  • Launching a Discoverer report from jsp page

    Hi
I have a discoverer workbook created using BI Discoverer (for relational). I want to accept some parameters for this workbook from a jsp page, which will also have a "View report" button. This button when pressed should open up the Discoverer workbook and all the parameters from the jsp should be passed to the workbook.
Is it possible? If yes, any details on it?
We do the same thing successfully to launch Oracle Reports from jsps, we simply build the url in the jsp, and from jsp we submit it to a new window, and it opens up the report. Similar functionality we are looking to launch Discoverer reports.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Shalu

You can open the workbook with URL parameters with Discoverer Viewer much like you would Oracle Reports. Setting anything form the username, password, workbook name, worksheet, and parameters. All the information can be found in the following document:
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_11/bi.1012/b13918/urlstart.htm
The specific question your asking is addressed under 13.5.2 Example 2. Let me know if you have any issues

  • Oracle discoverer Plus

    Hi,
We have installed Oracle business intelligence 10.1.2.0.2 but when we try to launch discoverer plus using URL http://localhost:80/discoverer/plus we get error "The Page cannot be displayed".
We have also installed the discoverer catalog.
    regards
    Vishal Dutt

    Hi
If you call http://myindwsggn02204:7778 on its own the correct response from the system shuld be to display a generic Oracle Business Intelligence page that describe, in simple terms, the various componets. It should also have links for Discoverer Plus and Viewer as well as the OEM.
So, let's get down to basics. Do you at least see this?
    Best wishes

  • Oracle Discoverer Desktop Report output showing unicode characters

    Hi,
Oracle Discoverer Desktop 4i version Report output showing the below unicode characters.
    kara¿ah L¿MAK HOLD¿NG A.¿
We ran the same query in sql at that time the data showing correctly.
Please let me know, is there any language settings/ NLS settings are need to set
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi
Let me give you some background. In the Windows registy, every Oracle Home has a setting called NLS_LANG. This is the variable that controls, among other things, the numeric characters and the language used. The variable is made up of 3 parts. These are:
    language_territory.characterset
Notice how there is an underscore character between the first two variables and a period between the last two. This is very important and must not be changed.
So, for example, most American settings look like this: AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252
The second variable, the territory, controls the default date, monetary, and numeric formats and must correspond to the name of a country. So if I wanted to use the Greek settings for numeric formatting, editing the NLS_LANG for Discoverer Desktop to this setting will do the trick:
    AMERICAN_GREECE.WE8MSWIN1252
Can you please check your settings? Here's a workflow:
    a) Open up your registry by running Regedit
    b) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE
    c) Look for the Oracle Home corresponding to where Discoverer Desktop is installed. It's probably called KEY_BIToolsHome_1
    d) Clicking on the Oracle Home will display all of the variables
    e) Take a look at the variable called NLS_LANG - if it is correct Exit the registry
    f) If its not correct please right-click on it and from the pop-up select Modify
    f) Change the variable to the right setting
    g) Click the OK button to save your change
    h) Exit the registry
    Best wishes

  • Oracle Discoverer - Export report as PDF

Using Oracle Discoverer Desktop 10.1.2.1 with Adobe 7 installed. We do not see an option to export as a PDF file. It was my understanding this should be an option. Is there a way to add PDF as an export option?

    Hi,
You cannot export to PDF from Discoverer Desktop, however, you can use Discoverer to print to the Adobe PDF Converter print device which will generate the Discoverer report in PDF format.

  • Creation of a Custom Folder in Oracle Discoverer Administration Edition

    Hi
Could anybody help me in solving this problem while creating a Custom Folder in Oracle Discoverer Administration Edition ?
    My Requirement is :
I Connect to EUL_US/EUL_US@<HOST_STRING> under Oracle Discoverer Administration Edition.
I selected a Pre-Defined Business Area Eg. General Ledger
There i created a Custom Folder by Name Test Custom Folder
The Query which i used in my Custom Folder is
    SELECT NAME FROM GL.GL_JE_BATCHES
When i Used this Query it says Table or view does not exist.
The Folder is getting created but without a Query.
I am not able to preceed further.
    Any Help would be appreciated
    Regards
    Nakul Venkataraman

Hi Nakul, you may be running into a problem with the sql for your custom folder. For some reason Discoverer Admin will allow you to create a custom folder with sql, but then if you change it and it has any advanced sql, i.e. grouping sets, analytic functions etc., you probably receive an error.
An option is to create a view using the same sql and create a folder from the database using this view.
    Hope this helps.
    Brent.

  • Differences between  Oracle Discoverer 10g and 11g (EBS & Desktop)

We are in the process of upgrading from Oracle Discoverer 10g testing to Oracle Discoverer 11g.
We have had several requests (from functional users) for documentation that might reflect the changes in this release level. Does anyone have relevant documentation that might help explain what has changed so that they can be better prepared.

We are in the process of going from 10 desktop to 11 plus. I do not like it as other end-users I have talked to don't either. In desktop, I could have multiple reports open at one time, move tabs from one report to another so I wouldn't have to rebuild the report again. Also, there are times I have 3 or more sessions of desktop running with multiple reports running in them. In plus, I am limited to one session and one report. That slows down productivity big time. In desktop, exporting crosstabs to excel is more user friendly than plus. For desktop, it will fill in the cells below with the data above it if it changes. In plus, it looks like a pivot table. I have read other posts on how to work around that, but not always functional. Using Dense_Rank() works sometimes depending on how the report is written. IT is researching another way but haven't heard back from the consultants. Or, I will have to modify all my excel files with formulas to do that for me. Also in desktop, I can select all and copy paste the results into excel and all data comes in. The row and column headers, page items and even the title section will paste into excel. Plus only gives you the data, no row or column headers. So I have to export it every time I need the data. I have formatted excel files that all I need to do is copy paste and data flows beautifully. As for organizing and saving reports, desktop is much better. I can save reports out on our network under different folders so I can find them faster by topic. Granted, if that directory is an open one, anyone can change/delete it. In plus, the only advantage of saving it on the database is I can sort and search for reports or users. If you make any changes in plus and then walk away from your desk, plus will shut down after a certain time period. If you didn't save it, you have to start over. Don't know if this is something IT can fix???
As we see it, plus is a step back in technology. I hope someone can change that opinion. Don't know if we are not getting the best support from whoever is working with us (Oracle or 3rd party) or we are missing something???? If so, please share.
    Thanks.

  • Correlation in Oracle Discoverer

    Hi,
I know how to calculate correlation in Oracle discoverer plus using calculations but is there a way for us to give the users the ability to drag drop the variable they want to see the correlation between in viewer. So for example if the user wanted to see the correlation between SAT scores and age they could just select the variables somehow and see the correlation between them.
    Thanks

There is no straight forward way but one possible solution:
    1.
Create a folder in the eul that contains two columns
    1) a dummy column
    2) a LOV column
    I usually do this with a query SELECT 'dummy' as joiner, 'LOV ITEM' as lov_item from dual union....;
    2.
create a LOV on the LOV Item column
    3.
create a join between the new table and another table in the workbook
    4.
create 2 parameters based on the lov item column (do not create a condition with the parameter)
    5. create a calculation that calculation that well correlate two items based on the values of the parameters
    6. remove the new table from the workbook. The new table will not affect how many rows are returned but the parameters still look at the LOV table.

  • Installation of Oracle Discoverer on Windows

    Hi All
I need to install Oracle Discoverer Desktop on windows platform if any one has detail installation documentation of this please give me the link ASAP as i m never installed this discoverer on windows i m doing it first time i know how to install database on windows so please help me and also give me the link that shows hows it works also
    please help me asap.

Here is the link to install Oracle Discoverer 10g Client.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101202.html
Accept the license terms and click on Business Intelligence – Tools CD (for Microsoft Windows)
First, Discoverer checks for swap space, if you have an error saying swap space not enough, go to Control Panel-> System -> Advanced Tab -> Performance Options button
See available virtual memory. If it is less than 1535 MB, increase it by clicking on Change button
While installation, the installer prompts for new home, BIToolsHome_1. You can use the same name or change it, but this has to be a different home than Oracle home on your PC. Select ‘Custom’ installation type and from the Available Product Components, select ‘Oracle Discoverer Desktop’, also Administrator if you need it.
    Should be good to go.
