Using SCAN to Connect to 11g R2 RAC from Weblogic 10.3.3

Hi,
Can we use SCAN( Single Client Access Name) to Connect to 11g R2 RAC from Weblogic 10.3.3.
Please redirect me to the doucmentation on the same.
Thanks

If you do not need XA connectivity then you are free to do whatever you want,
but it is not supportable for XA. We do document fairly well what we recommend
for RAC connectiviity.

The CCK will find/ask to download (if iPad supported formate )picture and video files if the device is formated in FAT 16 or 32 and the supported files are placed in a "DCIM" folder in the root directory. I have transfered such files from SD card and USB drives. However, not USB drive work. I had an old 2GB (very large) and when i connected it it said it drew too much power.
I also downloaded pictures and video files from a compact flash card and smart media card via a SanDisk USB card reader.

  • Installing JDBC driver to connect to Oracle 8i Database from Weblogic 10.3

I want to connect to Oracle 8i database from weblogic 10.3 application server. I found a classes12. zip file on Oracle.com to use as driver for the same.
I am also connecting Oracle 9i database from the app server. Now if i replace the classes12. jar from the lib folder won't it disallow me to connect to the Oracle 9i database.
2ndly the claases12.zip file i found from the site is for jdk 1.2 will it create any problems. Please let me know
Kindly let me know what is the standard procedure to install a new driver in Weblogic 10.3.

I tried to install weblogic 10.3 using jdk 1.5.07 but. it is not supported. Moreover from the sites also i found that it's only the application wars and ears compiled in jdk 1.5 need not be recompiled in 1.6. But no reference of jdk 1.5 is there.
I tried to use thin client from the code and connect to Oracle 7i
    i got the following exception.

  • JDBC connection to Oracle 8.16 from Weblogic 6.1

I am trying to connect to an Oracle DB using the JDBC thin driver to Weblogic 6.1
I am getting the following error when starting up the Weblogic server:
    "oracle.net.TNSAddress.SOException"
Anyone have an idea as to why I am getting this.

If the url fix does not work - try updating your jdbc drivers for oracle 8 (get the latest one). There is a chance that using the older oracle 7 drivers you might encounter some problems.

  • Can a non-RAC database use SCAN ?

    I have a 4 node 11gR2 cluster which has all different kinds of versions ( 10g ,11gR1 & 11gR2 ) on both RAC & NON RAC .
I know for sure that I can use SCAN for non 11gR2 databases for RAC databases .
For standalone db's It seems like it is working intermitently but is this supported ? the reason why I ask is there is no documentation on how to configure or troubleshoot for non-RAC using SCAN .
    Appreciate your help
    Ravi

I was trying to find some information about the issue, but i think SCAN is really designed for RAC databases.
You don't really need to use the SCAN for what you just described:
you can update the client tnanames with the vip addresses of all nodes with FAILOVER = ON
    Example:
    (DESCRIPTION=
    (ADDRESS_LIST=
    (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=node1-vip)(PORT=1521))
    (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=node2-vip)(PORT=1521))
    (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=node3-vip)(PORT=1521))
    (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=node4-vip)(PORT=1521))
    (FAILOVER = ON)
    (CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER = DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME=DB.WORLD))
However, you can try this (i never tried it, but i think it should work):
    - See the document http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e10813/undrstnd.htm#BEICFAIC
+... If you do not set LOCAL_LISTENER, then the Database Agent automatically keeps the database associated with the Grid home's node listener updated...+
So don't set the LOCAL_LISTENER in your db.
    - Update the client tnsnames with the SCAN if the version of the database is 11.2.0.1
    - Try to see if it works fine
    - Move your db to another node and try again

  • Connecting to MAC (Snow Leopard) from Windows 7 PC

Been trying to get the iMac to connect with a windows 7 pc. Have successfully connected to the PC from the iMac using the Go/Connect to server method. From the windows 7 PC perspective, the iMac shows up in network neighborhood, but when I double click on the iMac get an error message - "Windows cannot access ..." then the name of the iMac. This is associated with error code 0x80070035.
From the windows 7 PC, I can successfully ping the iMac by name and IP address. The iMac and PC are using the same workgroup name as well. I'm thinking the problem is associated with how I configured sharing on the iMac --- but I can't seem to figure out the problem. This is how the iMac sharing is configured:
    - have a public folder set as the shared folder, with everyone identified as having read and write privileges
    - under sharing/options,"share files and folders using SMB (Windows) is selected
    - below that, have the "on" button checked for the accounts I have on the iMac.
Thinking that there is something in the sharing configuration that is the problem. Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

I don't know a whole lot about this topic, but I do know that, in Vista, Microsoft apparently disabled some important feature required for connecting to a Mac for file sharing, which caused some problems for my wife. We finally solved the problem for her by doing the following:
Go to the Start menu and go to All Programs -> Accessories -> Run
    Type "Regedit.exe" and press return
    Go to HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
Select Lsa, then choose Edit -> New -> Key
Type "DWORD" (without quotes) as the name in the list
Double-click the text "(Default)" in the right-hand pane
Enter "1" (without quotes) as the value and press OK
Quit Regedit and restart the machine
Log in to the remote Mac using "ip_address\username" as the user name
I'm not sure if this is still relevant on Windows 7, and I recall there was a much easier solution if you had one of the higher-end versions of Vista... but my wife only had Home Premium, which meant she didn't have the tool needed to make this fix easy. Stupid Microsoft...

  • JDBC connection to 11g using DBCP connection pool

    Hi
I am using 11g with Java6 using ojdbc6.jar, aqapi.jar and commons-dbcp-1.2.2.jar running in a Jboss4.3 app server. I have a strange problem in that when the app server is shutdown it then seems to take several minutes before it can be restarted because it cannot get the connections for the pool. If I leave it for 10 mins or so it will restart.
    Any help would be appreciated

    IPv6?
If that is in play one can end up with retries attempted over IPv6, which then finally gives up and then switched to IPv4.
You should be able to replicate via the following
    1. You MUST run as the same user as the app server
    2. Create a java console app that does nothing but a regular connect using the SAME connection string as the app server.
    3. Test it and time it.
    4. If that works ok then do the same thing with dbcp.

  • Using scan name in tns file not working at client side...

    Hi All,
I have installed 2 node RAC -11gR2 on ORACLE VM Server 2.2.1.
now, I want to give tnsentry to dev team to use this RACDB.
I am using scan name in tnsnames.ora file. Also I have make scan name entry in /etc/hosts not in the DNS.
I have below entry in RACDB server...
    RACDB =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = RWCORA-cluster-scan)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = racdb)
== now in dev user side, If I give the same above tns entry and make entry of this scan name and two VIPs in /etc/hosts file of dev user then SQL*Plus is successfully connected but not JDBC like SQL*Developer.
I have make below entry in dev user's /etc/hosts file:
    10.40.0.51     RWCORARAC1-vip
    10.40.0.52 RWCORARAC2-vip
    10.40.0.50     RWCORA-cluster-scan
Is this correct way or suggest me perfect link through which I canconnect all OCI, JDBC connection from client side.
    Thanks...

you can use JDBC thin URL in SQL developer.
Choose NEW/DATABASE CONNECTION, then put the connection type "Advanced" and then place the jdbc url as :
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=RWCORA-cluster-scan)(PORT=1521))(LOAD_BALANCE=yes)(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER=DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME=racdb)(FAILOVER_MODE=(TYPE=SELECT)(METHOD=BASIC)(RETRIES=180)(DELAY=5))))

Currently the database is NON-RAC and as a part of the migration we are converting it in to a 5 Node RAC. A lot of third party interfaces connected to this environment are using hard coded database name. Unfortunately due to the project time lines it's impossible to change those applications within the migration timeline. In order to ensure that they don't break we are thinking of keeping one instance name same as database name so those applications can continue to function without any change to their code. We are aware that this would compromise on fail over capabilities for those applications but we are ok with that.
This what we have in mind: Create 5 PROD instance named as PROD, PROD1,PROD2, PROD3 & PROD4. PROD being the name of the database also. I would like to know:
    1) Is this configuration allowed i.e., is it ok to have one instance with the same name as database?
    2) We will be creating a 5 node Data gaurd environment for this so what will be the impact of such a naming on it?
    3) Since it's an EBS environment will there be any issues with application configuration?   Our application architecture will be as below:
6 application nodes - Two for concurrent managers, two for forms & web & two external nodes
The two CM app nodes will be tied to two database instances using Services
Remaining app nodes will connect to the remaining 3 instances once again using services.
We will be configuring services using "vip" instead of scan names.
    4) What will be the impact if the node having the instance name same as database name goes down?
    5) Any other areas to worry about with such a configuration say like cluster services, 3rd partyinterfaces/applications?
Please let me know if you have any idea of such a configuration.
    regards

Brian, rchem & Martin thanks for your responses. Appreciate it much. I was thinking about the service alternative but unfortunately I understand from my customer that their applications have hard coded database (used as a instance name) name. All they are saying is that their applications are using instance name instead of database name without providing much details on how it's being used. I just know that there 180 applications... Oracle & non Oracle based in which the instance name is hard coded, but haven't got answers to my questions on how it's hard coded i.e., is it being pulled from the database using a hard coded query like "select instance_name from v$instance" or is it a part of some variable in the script/application etc., and what it's being used for (later) within the application.  Answers to those question will help in deciding what  should be the right strategy but since I am short of time I thought of this and wanted to know if anybody has implemented or come across a similar architecture.
I am creating services and using them in my EBS application ifile thereby avoiding SID but agree with you on the node failure part as I haven't tested this new set up yet.
    Martin,
You are right, they are using the database name as a SID in their application hence the above need.  My cluster version is 11.2.0.4.0 (both Active & Software versions). The source database on solaris is 11.2.0.3 Non RAC, it's going to be upgraded to 11.2.0.4 before conversion/migration hence I have installed & created a 11.2.04 RAC environment as a part of POC/Load testing.
