Using siri location in the uk

How can it be advertised about using the siri to locate people/place when it doesnt work in the uk... Not cool...False advertising... Any idea when it will be working here?

Currently Siri only supports maps and local search support in the US, Apples web site states additional countries will be available in 2012 and that's all anyone here can tell you I'm afraid.
The advert you refer to uses the Find My Friends to locate the friend at the football ground and the Calendar app to give the address of the meeting so technically not false advertising.

  • Call anyone in your contacts using Siri without unlocking the iPhone

Not sure if this is a known bug but today I tried calling any contact from my friends mobile with out unlocking it.
    1. Phone is locked
    2. Open siri
    3. "call Richard"
    4. It started ringing Richard Stewart mobile.
    In second instance
    1. Phone is locked
    2. Open Siri
    3. "Call Ram"
    4. Siri returned me two contact "Ram sir" or "Ram Mohan"
    5. I select "Ram Sir"
    6. It started rining the mobile number of "Ram sir"
Also I tried to create a calendar event using Siri. It created a calendar event and it also showed me all the events scheduled in the calendar for that day with out unlocking the mobile. It showed birthday reminders and also few personal events scheduled in the calendar.  Is that expected?

It is a setting as to whether to let Siri have access when the device is locked. That is stricly up to the user, since it is not your phone.

  • Next item not working in siri location services

When using Siri location services to find for example "I feel like chinese food tonight" siri responds with a list  of restaurants and asks if you want to call the first one on the list or go to the next one. If you say "next" or "go to next one" siri does nothing it does not progress to the next item on the list. We've just got siri location services here in canada. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong.
Thanks in Advance for any help!

This is no longer an issue. Sometime between friday and saturday something has changed at the server end for siri. There is no longer a prompt to dial number or go to next

  • A Bug in iOS7 Using Siri with in Car Bluetooth

I have a near new Hyundai SanteFe with built in bluetooth.  Under iOs6 it worked fine when listening to CD, Radio or Music from the iPhone. Now, if I use Siri when using Radio or CD it still works fine.  However if I am listening to Music app on the iPhone , using the aux input, when I press to use Siri, either from the bluetooth button in the vehice or from the iphone itself, there is no input from the mic to Siri.  Siri comes up but only tells me what kind of questions I can ask, there is no connection from the bluetooth Mic to Siri itself.
As it was OK in iOS6, I assume that it is a bug in iOS7.

Did you ever figure this out?  I have the same problem in an Audi A4

  • Using iPod location services to find my way round new places

I  like to use location services with map apps (such as OffMaps and MapsWithMe) to help me find my way around new places.
I understand that the information  ipod uses for location services,  the positions of various wifi transmitters,  is stored in an Apple database and that the location result is likely to be very approximate.  My problem is that I  cant figure out how and when the relevant data arrives in my ipod.  Typically it seems that when in a new town,  during my first wander round the place, the ipod does not know where it is -  locations will not be shown on these map apps.  On subsequent travels through the town iPod does seem to know where it is and displays its location on the maps quite nicely.  (But by then of course I  too know my way around and so don't need theiPod;s assistance so much to help figure out where I am.)
    So my questions are
    1) At what point does the ipod get to store the crucial location information?  I'm wondering for instance whether the ipod remembers the SSIDs  as it encounters them, but only learns about their locations when it  is next connected to the  internet?
    2) I'd like to know how much of this information the iPod can remember and for how long is it remembered.  (If I go back to a place visited last year will any of the previously "learnt"  locations be remembered by the iPod. I may well have forgotten my way round the place by then and the iPod's help would be useful)
    3) Is it possible to "teach"  the ipod about  known wifi locations in a particular geographical area before visiting the area.  That would be a tremendous boon to me.

Good questions. However, I have never seen or heard about any information from Apple about how the iPod (and wifi-only iPad) really determine location.  I am waiting for answers from other users.

  • Siri keeps cutting in and out when I'm using my iPad3 and I don't even use Siri. This Is driving me mad. Can someone find it in their heart to help me.thanks,Michael.

SIri keeps cutting in and out when I'm using my iPad 3 and it's driving me mad.
i Don't even use Siri and know I can turn it off but don't want to.
could someone please find it in their heart to try and help me with this issue.
    kind regards
    michael.

If you have your iPad connected to the charger it could be the new "Hey Siri" feature that allows you to use Siri without pressing the home button. Do you have a radio on or are people talking ? Go to settings> general> Siri> Allow"Hey Siri"> off.

  • IPhone 4s sound muffled after using Siri?

Hello everyone. I am new to the Apple discussions page, but need some help. My iPhone 4s' is having a really weird problem. I use Siri, then lock the device and the lock sound is muffled and distorted. I tried restoring it multiple times, and that didn't work. I looked for this problem, and no one seems to know what I'm talking about. Can someone please help me? It would be greatly appreciated, and also my iPhone warranty is good until February, 2013. Thanks everybody, and have a great day.

I have just used siri on my 4s for the first time after downloading ios7 and I'm now experiencing the same issue! As I was speaking siri began to sound muffled so I stopped using it and played some music and my music (which was playing well prior to using siri) sounded muffled too. Did you ever resolve this issue?

  • HT204389 can I use Siri on Ipad mini

Can I use Siri on an Ipad Mini?

The iPad mini is compatible with Siri. Just open Settings > General > Siri, and turn on Siri. Then, to use Siri, just hold the Home button until Siri appears

  • Using siri w/ a bluetooth car and itunes .. ??

Issues with siri while listening to music ... please read
I have a minicooper that has bluetooth. When I use siri, it activates the bluetooth and I speak through the car.
But, when I listen to itunes, I use a mp3 cable to attach.
When I try and use siri WHILE listening to music, the blue tooth does NOT go on, and because the cable is in, I can't hear her ...
Anyone else experiencing anything like this???

You need a Bluetooth dongle or built in Bluetooth. I couldn't get it to connect through a USB cable.
Call T-Mobile and subscribe to their additional $20/month internet plan.
Wait a couple of days for T-Mobile to turn on the internet on your phone.
Download and install the "Motorola 3G CID1" modem script so Mac OS-X will recognize the phone as a modem.
Make the phone discoverable to other Bluetooth devices.
Setup the Bluetooth device with Bluetooth Setup Assistant.
Setup a new modem in Network preferences.
Show the new modem, and under the PPP tab set it to dial telephone number: "internet2.voicestream.com"
Under Bluetooth Modem select modem: "Motorola 3G CID1"
I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Write back if you have problems and maybe I'll remember more. You can call T-Mobile and ask for their Mac technical person. I shut off T-Mobile's internet service because it wasn't worth the extra $20/month to me. It's faster than a dialup modem when used as a modem to allow a computer to access the internet. The W490 phone used by itself to access the internet is unbelievably, mind numbingly slooow. (pulling hair) I'll probably have T-Mobile turn the internet back on when I go visit my mom, who doesn't have any internet connection at all. I'll shut it off as soon as I get back though. It'll make a nice way to get e-mail without driving down to a cafe with wireless. If you travel a lot this might be an affordable way to get your e-mail. It's much more affordable than a dedicated 3G modem, but it's also much slower.

  • Use siri in lockscreen, Loud sound

After i'm using siri in lockscreen, The volume sound to unlock the iPhone 4s is very loud.
Is that normal? or am i'm the only one?

It hasn't been corrected for me.  It's been going on for months and I am running 5.1.1 and so is my husband The mic (speech to text) makes all alert sounds LOUD while the sound is playing, sometimes continues even if you kick out of the mic.  It's awful.
My husband's  behaves slightly differently. His is rather random - it didn't get louder when turning the mic ON but then got louder when he turned it OFF... and then he hit the 'back/delete' button the keyboard, it totally shut off the sound entirely.

  • Where is the home button located so i can use siri?

WHere is the home button located so i can use siri?

The Home button is the round button on the front of your iPad.
Which iPad do you have? Siri is only available on the new iPad with iOS 6. The original iPad and the iPad 2 do not support Siri.

  • After backing up my phone to the new iphone 4S, voice control comes on every time I try to use siri?

After backing up my phone to the new iphone 4S, voice control comes on every time I try to use siri? I have to newest itunes so what should I do? I completley can not use Siri

Some advice from various locations on the web (use google).  Each works for some users, not all.  Give these a try.
Try to deauthorize the computer then authorize it.
select song or app. that's not authorized, itunes will ask for your password, enter password, click ok, and ok again. Done.
I had the same problem when I switched from my laptop to a macbook. What I figured out was that I had purchased applications under two different email addresses. You can click on one of the applications that is not syncing and go to "File" then "Get Info" to find out what email address you used to purchase those applications. Hopefully this helps.
Sometimes a reboot of either the computer or the iPhone or both fixes this, if you’ve authorized already.

    Hello BassoonPlayer,
Since you are using one of the the school's Macbooks, it is quite possible that the time and date are not properly set on the computer that you are using.  FaceTime will not work if you do not have the proper time zone set up for the location that you are in.  This past week, there were a two other Macbook users I've helped by simply telling them to set the Date/Time properly.  By the way, you described your problem very well, which makes it easier for us to help you.  Hope this solves your problem -- if not, post back and I can suggest other remedies.

  • Why wont Siri find any locations in the UK?

I have just purchased the new iphone 4s and was really looking forward to using Siri.
1st of all, she doesnt seem to recognise things im saying and secondly, she cannot search for any locations in the UK.
Does anyone know why? Surely thousonds of people in the UK will be purchasing this phone in the UK wanting the same thing.
If anyone knows how this can be resolved or has more information on this, I would like to know.
    L

Siri can only currently search for locations and maps in the US. Apples web site has stated that maps and local search support will be available in additional countries in 2012.  Have a look here http://www.apple.com/iphone/features/siri-faq.html
