Using SPAU for custom development

Hi Guys,
take the following szenario:
We have Development system A and a copy of this system Development system B. Where B is the project system. In the time the systems A and B will be enhanced using different development. At one point in time the developments from system B should be merged with system A. Could this merge be done using some similar functionality like the SPAU after SAP-Upgrade to ensure the developments with origin in A and developments with origin in B are compared and amended in the right way ?

ok a small excourse on SPAU.
When transporting a transport request into the system (same for hot-packages or release-change), a new version is beeing put into the version managment of the referred object.
SPAU compares the active versions with the ones which got transported.
Problem at this edge is that SPAU just scans for modifications.
Modifications are changes to SAP-Standard objects. SPAU just checks for differences in SAP object.
Objects in customer name room, x or y will be ignored.
Thats why i dont think you can use SPAU.
BUT well you could copy the SPAU, and then reprogramm it a way it will not ignore x and y objects.
When SPAU is done and all is fine, THEN you transport the things to test and productive Server.

In theory, yes. In practice, no. You would need a version of GCC that supports targeting that architecture and all the header and library files for that architecture. It is highly unlikely to be worth the time and effort to try it and it may not even work even if you do everything right. Plus, you would still have to run and test on the target platform.
You'll just have to make life the best that you can on Linux. I suggest downloading the NEdit editor for X Windows. It is as good as any Mac editor and very easy to script for automation.

Can you use ABAP for B1 Development

1. Is is it possible to use ABAP for B1 Development to create Add-ons.
2. In the standard forms/reports there is no figure to words conversion. Please high light on how to do this.

Short answer: no you cannot.
Longer answer: B1 gives you access to its objects and GUI
with COM-based libraries. Any language that supports COM
can be used, included VB, VB.NET, C#, C and C++. A wrapper
for Java is also provided to access B1 objects.

SPAU for Custom program.

Question on SPAU and SPDD.
You have to aware of all related program like BDC's , Screens related errors and all dictionary related problems.
Some function modules may become obsolete, and some screens will change
abnd some new fields will be added in the new versions etc.
Also take care of SPAU and SPDD tcodes.
You should be able to know about Unicode concept in sap.
Upgrading within a new version of SAP R/3 :
The upgrade process for the SAP R/3 application does not modify any of the adapter's ABAP development, but it may modify the SAP R/3 application so that some of the adapter's ABAP development does not work properly.
This section describes how to upgrade the adapter's ABAP development in an upgraded SAP R/3 application. Before you can upgrade the adapter, you must have already upgraded your SAP R/3 application.
To upgrade the adapter's ABAP development:
Install the latest ABAP Extension Module transport files for the correct version of the SAP R/3 application.
You must install the correct version-specific transport files. For details on installing these transport files, see Connector transport file installation.
Compile all programs and resolve syntax errors associated with the ABAP development.
The easiest way to find syntax errors is to generate each function group associated with each object and fix the errors one at time. Repeat this process until all function groups compile successfully. Be sure to generate any other programs such as triggering programs that are not associated with a function group. Test the new environment and make modifications as needed.

Using DAC for custom Environment

Hi All,
I would like to know that, can we use DAC to schedule , run the loads for custom ETL environment(not BI APPS), does DACt supports. Below is is my set up
-Oracle 11g DB(source and target )
-Informatica 9 installed
-Mappings, workflows are developed
-DAC 11g is installed
Now I want to set up DAC so that I can run loads from DAC instead of Informatica. Please any let me know high level steps. Is it different from BI APPS environmen if so kindly let me know configuration

Short answer is NO...as per licensing agreements, you can only use DAC and OBIA to load a OBIA DW target.

For example if there is an issue with custom program or BAPI, do I have to manually edit them and adjust to old version.

Please find below, answers to your questions:
1.What objects will come in SPAU and SPDD?
Ans: All the objects which are modified, after tansporting to the current system,
will be listed in SPAU and SPDD. SPDD contains the list of all modified Data Dictionary objects, like tables, dataelements, domains,view...etc. The rest of all the modified repository objects will be listed in SPAU.
What happens to the modifications done in the older version when we upgrade the version? (with Modification assistant and w/o)
Ans: After the initial upgrade happens, we have to do adjustments from SPAU/SPDD to maintain or reset the changes. That is, from the list of objects in SPAU/SPDD, you have to either carry forward the changes to the new version, by choosing the option ADOPT CHANGES (available on right click) or RESET TO ORIGINAL (available on right click).
Will they come in these transactions?
Ans: yes, they will be listed in these transactions, after the BASIS updgrade activity.
And what if we apply some patches(Notes) to the system? What is the impact of these patches to the SPAU transaction?
Ans: Patches will be supported by the version upgrade. In case of notes, we have to verify whether these notes are supported by the new version (you can go into http://www.service.sap.com/notes to verify this. Also, we have to analyze whther the code in the note is already incorporated in the new version. In this case you can ignore the chanes choosing RESET TO ORIGINAL option

If you have applied any OSS notes to objects in your system, the hot package may overwrite these objects.
SPDD is used to identify dictionary objects
and
SPAU (repository objects), will identify any objects where the hot package is overwriting changes you have made through OSS notes.
You must check all objects identified in SPAU and decide whether you need to reapply the OSS note or reset the code to the original SAP Code.
Also once the changes have been done you would see a green traffic light.
If you double click on the modified object it will show you a split window where on the left you will have the original version and on right the modified version. So you can choose which to keep and which to reject. You may keep the modified version incases where you know that the notes will only be pakages in the next version.

Tools for custom development

Hello!
I have done some programming in MS Excel(VBA) - source data are taken from bw and erp systems. This program does complicated computation based on the source data and it takes few hours to execute. Results are later analyzed with different Excel files. Now I need to extend this program with addition source data and calculations which Excel might not handle.
What tools within the SAP NetWeaver you can suggest for custom application development?

Basically, you need a VM/Application server that can handle processing of large datasets. Visual Basic is extremely good for rapid application development but when it comes to large data processing and computations of millions of records, its not the best choice available. There are a lot of overheads of this development environment that make it unsuitable for your case. Unless you are ok to work with Win32 API using VB, I'd strongly suggest using ABAP which has been built ground up for data processing. Moreover, when using VB, you may need to employ techniques for parallel processing to reduce the processing time. All of this can be handled in ABAP very easily. Unless you can use SQL Server's data processing capabilities for analytics, I think you should re-evualte your current preferences.

Using nullLayout for custom component

I am writing an AccordianPanel as a custom component that can be dropped into a JPanel and behave as expected. I am using a null layout in the outer container (JPanel) as the accordian dividers need to move as told and not be managed by a layout manager. When I resize a window or another container that the custom component sits in, it doesn't resize anything - I understand this is the behavior I would expect as that is how I coded it.
Now, I want to have the custom component resize its internal stuff when the container it resides in (i.e. JFrame or most likely another JPanel) gets moved, but I don't know how to do this. The outer most component in my custom components hierarchy is a JPanel whose layout is set to null and I stuff everything else inside there.
I believe I need to add a componentListener to my JPanel whose layout is set to null, but I am not sure. Could someone send me in the right direction.

the best approach might be to implement your own LayoutManager (which is simple enough) and use it rather than absolute positioning....
If you read postings in the forum you will find most people recommend using LayoutManagers and not a null layout so you don't have problems like this.Hello sarcommand , camickr, and anyone interested,

I'm sorry to hijack this thread (seems slightly less rude than bumping my own former thread up), but I've read several discussions on this subject too, and still I can't decide whether I should follow the CustomLayoutmanager track.
Although most of the writing there is specific to my current problem, it highlights 3 points I think are general enough:
- A custom layout (whatever the way it is implemented, I discuss 4 approaches in the thread) is generally used to display custom components, or at least, components that represent custom application-specific entities or input points. -> Is is worth the trouble to abstract the positioning logic when this "custom layout" has only one, at best two, use cases (a couple of specific screens in your specific app that represents your specific entities)?
- A custom (app-specific) layout manager is likely to require more knowledge about the things being layed out than the default min/max/pref sizes. In particular it may require to know data of the underlying model objects represented by the children components. How is that best designed? I tentatively think it's by way of custom Constraint classes which have to be abstract enough yet should be easily mapped from the app-specific data.
- The CustomLayoutManager integrates natively with regular graphical events (hiding, resizing,...), but how to integrate app-specific events (such as, when the underlying data change in such a way that should be reflected by a change in the layout, how/when to force the re-layout)?

How to create new SW component for custome development?

We are looking to develop custom webdynpros and need to create our own SW components.
I've tried to define them in the SLD that the NWDI is connected to and when creating the tracks for the custom development, I do not see our new defined SW when trying to add the SW component to the track.
Any ideas? Are we going about this the wrong direction?

Once you add component in SLD if you want to add that component to your track ,there will be a button Update CMS in domain data or track data .click that and it will refresh and fetch your newly created component.then go ahead and add component to your track

Batch Input - Customer Master Data (RFBIDE00)
Description
All new fields for customer master records can be transferred to the R/3 System also with the report RFBIDE00.
Furthermore, the batch input can be carried out with the existing record definitions. By means of the end of record marker, the report recognizes which record structures do not yet correspond to the extended record layout and initializes the new fields with NODATA.
It is pointed out in the batch log, which structures are yet to be maintained. This should be done as soon as possible to be able to use the new functions or fields
Introduction
It is now possible to pass the information concerning tax categories and withholding types (for the extended withholding functionality) and the special Argentine fields via the standard batch-input program. Please look at the standard documentation if you need further information on the program.

Yes, I searched through the API docs, doesn't tell me anything. I need proven examples.
There's nothing out there .... strange!!!Actually, not so strange.
I think the original design of the servlet API permitted protocols other that HTTP, but in practice it was found that it didn't work as well. I think I've heard of an FTPServlet subclass, but that's it.

Oracle RAC and implications for custom developed applications

Hi,
I'm wondering if there are limitations to custom developed applications when implementing a RAC solution. I need some advice though I can find no documentation on this topic. Of course the standard database features will work correctly but what about, let's say, OS-specific PL/SQL code? Any advice is welcome.

What do you mean by OS-specific PL/SQL code?
The main thing here is you need to make sure it works correctly on all instances, or you must bind it to an instance by submitting it as a job.
This implies the output needs to end up on a cluster file system, or you need to set up NFS links.

Can I use BAPI_ACC_DOCUMENT_POST for customer clearing(inter company)?

We were getting errors for object type. Object type is a mandatory field and it is not taking "BKPFF", "VBRK" and other object key as a valid object key( Check is present in SAP Include LACC9F20 for object type). We have created a new object type in TTYP table and passed in this BAPI "BAPI_ACC_DOCUMENT_POST " . Is this is a correct approach?
After this correction when we try to post clearing document using BAPI, getting error :- "FI interface: Small difference * USD 30 cannot be distributed".
We are passing parameters :-

Query: Predictive Use Cases for Customer Acquisition during Launch Phase

May I ask you to help me with some Predictive Use Cases (essentially SAP InfiniteInsight) for a Telco Customer who is going to launch new 4G services.
Some important points to note are:
1) Being a new product launch, there is no historical data about customers.
2) Predictive use cases should help the customer acquire more customers (higher acquisition rates)
This means that the traditional churn, next best activity, product recommendations scenarios would not be a great fit because they would essentially be coming in the grow phase.
Additional info: The customers has other businesses in retails, mining, refinery.

The download previous version section discussed in Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html provides guidance on how to install through the Creative Cloud Desktop application.
If you don’t have high speed Internet access available on the computer you can install on then you can download the installation files from http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/cs6-product-downloads.html and use the steps in http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/convert-cs6-licensed-under-ccm.html to license the software.
You will need to be online to submit the periodic activation requests but it sounds like Internet access is available on the computer you are installing.

Unlike in 4.0 we wont have EAR file directly to import. First Basis people need to setup NWDI where in they import all packages. Once it is ready, in NWDS(dev env) we need to import configuration which will internally impors Development Components and their dependencies. Once you have everything in locla machine, we can create project make EAR FILE...
