Using Submit e-mail Button on forms

I can create and send a fill-in PDF form using LiveCycle but when it's received it's in an xml format and very hard to read. Is there a way that when received it still look like the PDF that was filled in?
Appreciate any help. Thanks

Asndi, Thanks for your reply. From your post, how do I "load the XML data back into the original form" when the recipient didn't create the original PDF fill-in form to begin with?<br />What he receives through the "e-mail submit button" method is something like the following example; <br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <br />- <topmostSubform><br />  <undefined>Don</undefined> <br />  <Address_1>22 Roberts Road, Some City</Address_1> <br />  <Address_2>555 555-5555</Address_2> <br />  <Names_of_Family_Members_Playing_1>Some Name 1</Names_of_Family_Members_Playing_1> <br />  <Names_of_Family_Members_Playing_2>Some Name 2</Names_of_Family_Members_Playing_2> <br />  <Names_of_Family_Members_Playing_3>Some Name 3</Names_of_Family_Members_Playing_3> <br />  <Names_of_Family_Members_Playing_4>Some Name 4</Names_of_Family_Members_Playing_4> <br />  </topmostSubform><br /><br />I would like to have this come out in a PDF format for him to read, like the orginal form that was filled in.  Is that possible?<br />Thanks

How do I use Submit by Email button to submit form as document, not data file?

    Hi
Just configure your submit button to submit as PDF instead:

  • Can't use the "send by e-mail" button on forms created in Acrobat Pro 9 with Firefox

I created a form in Acrobat Pro 9.5.2 with a "send by e-mail" button as usual (not using LiveCycle Designer). Since a few months, users cannot send forms using that button USING FIREFOX works fine in Explorer. I've been creating and using those forms since 2 years whitout any problems but now this is A BIG PROBLEM for our office as all our reservation forms uses this technology.
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. create a form using Acrobat Pro. add an action button " send a form". send the Entire PDF form not just FDF. go in advance tool to give all rights to end-users (in French it's "étendre les fonctions d'adobe reader" I think it’s enable the usage rights for Reader ion English.)
2.publishing the form on my website (or send by e-mail to someone who use reader)
    3. filling the form
    Results:
when the user fill the form he can't send it by e-mail using the button. Nothing happens when hitting that button. It is not possible to save the document as well. Nothing can be done, not even printing or saving it. I've tried almost all browsers I know and nothing works.
    Expected results:
the form should be send by e-mail (as an attachment in general) like before. please help me! this is really important, our office have a lot of calls and we are just 2 people here (non-profit organization). should we buy Acrobat Pro X ?
I can send you the form, my e-mail is rgelinas at canadianclub-montreal dot ca
    thanks all!

When your customers opened the PDF form (which was as an email attachment) on iPads, it is highly likely that Apple Mail (not Adobe Reader for iOS) was displaying the preview of the PDF form.   Please note that Apple products on iPad/iPhone (e.g. Apple Mail, iBooks, Safari) do not render field contents or annotations (sticky notes, highlight, underline, strikeout, freehand drawing, etc.) in PDF documents.
The Mail sections of the following FAQ documents describe how to open PDF attachments in Adobe Reader for iOS.
For iPad, see How to get PDF documents into Adobe Reader for iOS (iPad on iOS 7 version)
For iPhone, see How to open PDF documents in Adobe Reader for iOS (iPhone on iOS 7 version)

  • No XML file attachment when using Submit by Email button

    Hello all -
I'm using LiveCycle Designer 8.0 to create a simple form, and am using the Submit by Email button to return the user supplied data. When I save the form and test it with Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.1, the email goes through just fine, but there is no attachment. No XML file, no nothing. Just a blank email with my signature block at the bottom. Has anybody else experienced this? Any ideas on what could be wrong? All I want is the XML file.

You have multiple options to sending whole PDF format.
    1) Set the submit button to submit whole PDF format by using a mailto: [email protected] in the submit button action URL.
    2) Set the submit button to fire a javascript that submits whole PDF format. See Adobe's Javascript reference guide for instructions.
Note: Methods #1 and #2 require Adobe Acrobat or Extended Reader Rights; because, Adobe Reader users are restricted to submitting just the data formats; such as FDF,XML, XFDF, XDP, and HTML. Beware extending reader rights to a PDF form using Adobe Acrobat places end user EULA restrictions, such as not more than 500 end user submissions for each form.
    My Recommendations:
#3) Set the submit button to point to a URL of a server-side script; such as ASP.net. Then set the format to a data format; such as FDF, XML, XFDF, or XDP; and use ASP.net and iTextSharp (Free) to merge the data with a blank PDF form; and attach the submission to an outbound SMTP mail message and send without 3rd party email software such as MS OUTLOOK.
#4) A combination of #1 and #3; where you enable usage rights on the PDF using Adobe Acrobat; and send to a server-side script which bypasses client-side email software.
Check out the following website for online examples that submit to a server side script:

  • Problem using the e-mail button in Acrobat Pro 7.1.0 with Outlook 2013

I just switched my e-mail application from Mozilla Thunderbird to Outlook 2013.
I have always been able to click the e-mail button in Acrobat 7.1.0 to open a blank e-mail message with the PDF file attached.
I keep getting an error now that I have Outlook 2013.
It says "You need to create a Microsoft Outlook profile.  In Microsoft Windows, go to the Control Panel and open Mail.  Click Show Profiles, and then click Add"
Then, when I click on the OK button it says "Acrobat is unable to log in to your email application.  Please check your account settings and try again."
I have checked and I have one profile in Control Panel called Outlook.  Outlook is set as my default e-mail program.
I tried using a 3rd party PDF reader (Foxit Reader) and the e-mail button works as expected (opens a new message with the PDF attached).
I am running Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit with Outlook 2013 32-bit (this was what was recommended by Microsoft on the Office download site).
I would appreciate help anyone can provide to fix this problem.
    Thank you.

It may be a similar issue, but not the same issue. This is not the Reader forum, but if you are worried about the compatibility it is a simple matter to upgrade your Reader to AR XI. The original post had to do with a cost product, not the free Reader.
For AA7, the PDF Maker of AA7 is not compatible with Outlook 2013 as suggested. You should still be able to open most PDFs, but to create a PDF from Outlook you will have to print to the Adobe PDF printer or upgrade to AA XI.

  • Cannot use Adobe Reader "Mail" button to send via Yahoo mail.

When trying to use the "mail" button in Adobe Reader (or do File -> Send File...) to send the file via Yahoo e-mail, I get the following error:
"An unknown error occurred while uploading the attachment."
    Adobe Reader 11.0.10 for Windows.
Getting this error only on Yahoo e-mail accounts
Getting this on multiple Yahoo accounts on multiple PC's.
All PC's have current versions of Reader (11.0.10), all Windows 7/IE11 with current patches.
A client of ours was using this until last week, when it stopped working.
It is not working on any PC right now with Yahoo mail.

    Hi johnc46494667,
Please let me know whether you are getting this error since an Adobe Reader update.
Are you signed out of other accounts (except yahoo)?
Does this happen with every PDF file or any particular one?
    Hope to hear from you.

also i have created one button for 'subot by e-mail".....
what i shd do now......?any ideas

    Hello,
I didn´t  understand if you need to send the whole form or just a text you got from the form.
In first case, send the whole form, search for the tutorial called Offline Interactive Forms Using ABAP.
If you need to "mine out" the text from the form then:
    1) do you know that this form is called interactive?
    2) do you know that this type of forms is licensed? do you have such a licence?
    3) dou you know if you would run such a form offline or using WD, then it is called online scenario.
I can recommend you to move your questions about adobe under SAP NetWeaver - Interactive forms by adobe. Regards, Otto

  • Sent by mail button in form

I have create a form in Acrobat 8 and placed a button 'sent by mail'.
When a user fill in the pdf-form and press the button 'sent by mail' The email application will be launched. The attachement is an .xml file.
Why is that? and is it possible to send a pdf instead of an xml file?

Reader cannot save the PDF, that is why. You can allow user rights so that Reader can save the file, but you are limited to 500 copies of the form.
You will also find many comments on this forum about the pitfalls of using mailto. For general use it is a bad practice due to potential problems with client e-mail setup.

  • Submit e-mail button returns "one of the specified recipients is not resolvable" error

I have created a form in Acrobat X and have an e-mail submit button which isn't quite working.  In Acrobat X, when I click the button it proceeds normally (promts me to send an email with the form attached.)  In Reader X, however, it returns the error message "one of the specified recipients is not resolvable".  I know for sure that not only are the addresses just fine, but that the whole mailto: link is fine since it works in Acrobat without problem.
I've searched everywhere and there seems to be fairly limited issues with this error message, and the few posts I did see usually dealt with LifeCycle.
Here is the form so you can take a look at it: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0BxFDv0ai-FUPYTkzZWYyM2U tOTI1ZS00MDgzLWI5ZDUtNzg1YjUyMTRjMTc2&hl=en_US
I really appreciate any help anyone can give me!!!

I made typo on this thread only. It is correct in the form. I removed the semi-colon. Same thing happens. It works fine on the email program on my desktop (Windows Mail) where I have corresponded with the email address for the registrar. It does not work on my laptop (Windows Live Mail) where I have not corresponded with the email address for the registrar.
It seems to occur when the mail program doesn't find a match. I press OK but then it shows "One of the specified recipients is not resolvable"

  • Anyone know how to change the name of the PDF after it's submitted via the "submit e-mail" button?

Forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong section -
I'm using Live Cycle v8.0 and I would like to know if I can change the name of the PDF that is being submitted via emai?
    For example -
When I submit the form now it is named (12345abcd12345.pdf) and I would like it to read something like (memberapp.pdf)
    Any tips?

I figured it out...thanks to anyone who may have been helping.

  • I use three Google buttons- and one or two don't get saved on exit. When I use my Google Mail button, the mail and news buttons are always hidden when I exit mail and Google Directions button often gets displayed. Has happened through at least three versi

    Google Buttons Get Hidden
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I installed Firefox a few months ago.

I found the solution at the Google support page. Google buttons might either change or disappear if Google Toolbar is set to access Google Toolbar settings everywhere. Change that setting to local computer only takes care of it. (So Far.)

  • E-mail button using something other then Outlook

My question is simple when using an e-mail button you can send the PDF or XML through e-mail to a certain address such as a gmail, yahoo, msn or etc.. email account but the host e-mail server it is using is the Outlook on your local machine. My question is if I did not have Outlook installed on my machine and had my yahoo or gmail e-mail accounts logged in on the web browser and then I click on the e-mail button on a certain form could they use the gmail or e-mail account for sending or will it not work. Simply put to send e-mail using the E-mail submit button you always use Outlook is there a way to use a script to make the submit button using gmail or yahoo instead.

There is a dialog that pops up that indicates that we can use the default enail client on your machine or if you do not have one or you want to use a web mail client then it is up to you to save the file and create your own email and add this file as an attachment. There is no api available to be able to automate the web mail.

  • Entire pdf is attached to email using submit button

    Hi everyone,
When I was using Acrobabt 9 and I enabled usage rights in adobe reader for a pdf file containing a form, if that form contained a submit by email button, the form data was the only thing that got attached to the email.
I just tried enabling usage rights in adobe reader in Acrobat X and it seems that now when an submit by email button is pressed, the whole pdf is attached to the email.
Is this something that's new to Acrobat X? Is Adobe now allowing the whole pdf to be attached?
    Appreciate any help.

After creating the button, I chose the submit a form action in the properties dialogue box. I just checked and the export format is set to the complete pdf document.
Was this available in Acrobat 9 or is it something new in X? From memory, I thought that submitting the entire document by email was not allowed in earlier versions and that you needed to purchase an enterprise solution to get it to work.
    Thanks

  • E-mail button changes email address when submitting

    Hello,
For some reason when I try to e-mail my form when I hit the submit by e-mail button in the Send Form that pops up the e-mail address that the form is supposed to be sent to is different than what I have set it up to be on the form. I have tried creating the e-mail submit button using the e-mail button from the standard library and by using a regular button and changing it to a submit button, but it does not make a difference.
Can anyone tell me how to get it to not change the e-mail address when I try to submit my form? The e-mail address I have entered it to be sent to is: [email protected] but when I go to submit when testing my form it adds an "a" onto the end of association so the e-mail address is changed to: [email protected]
this means that when I submit it the form does not go to my inbox because the email address is wrong, even though the e-mail address is entered correctly in the Object palette in LiveCycle Designer.
    Thanks
    Tamara

    Hi Tamara,
It seams to be a glitch with your version of LiveCycle Designer. It should work if you manually change the auto-generated script instead of using Designer's dialog. Here's how you can do that:
    1) Select your email submit button and open the Script Editor (Ctrl+Shift+F5)
    2) Make sure you select the 'click' event or 'Events with Scripts' filter at the top left of the script editor window next to 'Show:'
    3) Near the end of the script (line 57 and 59) you will see 'mailto:' followed by the faulty email address you were seeing.
    4) Change it to what you need it to be (both lines)
I have an earlier version of Designer, so I can't test it myself, so let me know how it works for you.
You can also find it edited here. I also made your tables flow for you.
