Using tables for my design

hey.
Ive been making this website today, trying to base it around
other fansites..
I cannot put anything in the middle, unless i use ap div
which i dont want 2 use because there handy but cr@p.
refer to my site,
www.habboradio1.com/test
as you will see there is nothing in the middle, i cant really
explain but hopefully you should get me

That's not where OP wants the text, though, I don't think.
The question was
regarding content in the white area in the middle of the
bottom table, no?

I have just started to use Muse for our design agency and learning how to build ourselves a new site, I have managed to create a basic lightbox which contains sliding images, what I need to do now is have a pop up window which goes into detail about the projects, what I would like is a piece of text  or icon that when you roll over it and then click a separate window pops up with additional information in, once finished reading the info you can then click to close the box, any advice on how to do this?

The best way to do what you're asking is with the Composition widget. Start with the Tooltip preset, which, by default shows the info on rollover. You can change the option to show on click, which is what you're after. You can also add the close button or have the info disappear on rollout.

  • I can no longer use Photoshop for UI Design (PS CC + Retina display)

Since I bought the new MacBook Pro with retina display, Photoshop can no longer be an option for user interface design.
I'm runningn the last Photoshop CC update, and each file opens at 50% size compared to other standard displays, which makes working with old files frustrating. Besides, creating a new 1200 wide document to start a web design makes no sense (too small).
    - View > 200% isn't a solution, things look pixelated.
    - To increase the resolution from 72ppi to 220 (retina display) isn't a solution, it doesn't affect the document size
    - Working with a document with 2x size can't be a solution: I should create everything with a 2x size (stroke, shadows, even rounded corners), which would push PS even more far away from being a tool that can be used for UI design.
Should we just expect that PS on a high-res display behave like that? I don't think so. Besides, the guys of Sketch App (a tool for UI design, that I'm currently working with) found a solution - the retina canvas option:
You can choose to see bitmap images pixelated, but still the vectors will look exactly like on the browser. By choosing to see the document at the same size but with more details, retina users can enjoy the power of the new MacBook while working on UI design.
Am I missing something? Should we expect this option in Photoshop too?

It upsets me to see that this was initially posted almost a year ago and there was no answer. There also seems to be no answer to various other questions about the same issue. Adobe do you care? I am already guessing that Apple doesn't. I know that Adobe has been at the top of this industry. Time for someone else to compete? This is a highly frustrating issue for UI and web designers.

  • Using Muse for professional designing?

    hi everyone
i'm new to the web design world, and i've came across Muse just this week while browsing for web design apps.
Seems like its a good place to start.
My question is, would it be really 'ok' if someone made website professionally with the help of Muse? I dont really know how to explain this, so i'll try my best.
Lets say the website looks great, functions as needed etc etc, so aesthetically and functionality are as client wants.
But if the client comes to know that it was not done by coding, but rather by using an aiding program, wouldnt that make you look less professional?
I think its a bit like driving a manual transmission car vs an auto. When its manual it automatically gives you the impression that the driver must be better
(which is not the case, since i myself drive both but prefer auto for pure commodity) but maybe the comparison helps you understand better what i mean.
    thnks

It all depends on what the client needs, and the budget. A lot of small businesses don't need much more than a "brochure-ware" style web site. Muse is fine for that. There's lots of widgets and templates online to take care of many visual tricks or other important tasks.
Sites that have to do more complex things, like have php scripts auto-generate pages from a database and perhaps even tie that into an online store, will have to be developed with a lot of code writing.
I'm a graphic designer, not a computer programmer. But I'm trying to learn more and more about coding with HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, etc. just to improve my own skill sets. Lots of "graphic designer" job listings all call for competence in writing code. If a person is going to be self-employed as a web designer, he'll have to master coding at some point pretty quickly.

  • Use Tables for Image Layout?

I'm in the process of learning HTML and putting together some
sites. The book I'm reading is several years old but is very
thorough. It suggests taking slices from a page mockup in PS/IR,
optimizing (saving only the images, not code), then re-assembling
it by writing the code that puts it all together in tables.
Is this an outdated/"bad" way to accomplish this? If so, what
is the "best"/recommended way for slice-based graphic layout? Keep
in mind I'd like to us image maps later to create links and
    rollovers.
    Thanks!

I'm not a fan of sliced-image layouts, but yes, that's just
    the way I'd do
it. I'd slice the page mockup myself and then place it into a
    table with the
right number of rows and columns with as minimal and clean
    HTML as
    possible.

  • Using Illustrator for Precise Designs

    Hi guys,
If anyone has any tips for the questions I have below it would be greatly appreciated. I know everyone's ways of working are different, but I am having a difficult time getting these answered despite the superflous amount of information regarding Adobe products
    1) When I see professional logos or type the shapes (I mean the corporate ones) and especially curves are perfect. Is there a way   to achive this? It's pixel perfect. It reminds me of designing with the old circle methods and french curves.
    2) Is there a way to get some assistance with diagnol lines (so the points on the same angle), curve precision from one point to another diagonly? I know you can use the grid and then use move the handles by a pixel amount, but insuring one side of the
object is as thick as another part?
    3) I think Typography is a great example and I have provided one below. Even after ensuring I know all the tips for anchor handles, ect it's almost impossible to get an even width or serif curve.
The image below shows a letter h and the top serif was cut out and illustrated with points.
Thanks so much for any tips, pointers, or how other industry insiders work!

Illustrator is not a pixel based drawing program.  It is a vector path based drawing program.  You should get to know the difference(s).  It is possible to draw extremely accurately.  But, you will have to master the drawing tools and your ability to manipulate paths and anchor points.  I recommend you abandon your mouse for a pen tablet.  Let me address each of your questions:
    1.  Yes.  Most text is font based and then converted to outlines later in the production chain.  Curves are better drawn large and then reduced in size further down the production chain, just like the old days.
    2.  Get used to the Command > M operation ( move ) and duplicating.  If you want a certain angle, use the Rotate tool and input the amount of degrees of your rotation in the Rotate dialog.  Like a lot of other things in Illustrator, there is more than one way to do things.  You will learn the more you use it.
    3.  The sample you show has very little consistency because it is a script font.  But, if you are drawing a letter by hand, you can use simple ovals and squares to help you maintain consistency.  For instance, if your letter section is 1/16" thick, create a rectangle 1/16" square and use it as a guide.  There are a lot of simple tools you can use to help yourself.
Remember this.  A good, hand drawn text element can take hours, if not days to complete.  Software is not an automated solution where you wave a magic wand at the screen and wha-la, it's done.  Very seldom do designers have to resort to drawing text elements by hand.  There are more typefaces available than ever.  In some cases, you can use a font for a quick start and then modify certain letters to whatever your project calls for.

  • Any begginers make money using photoshop for logo design etc?

For example, on fiver, elance etc?

    Hello,

  • Anyone using Photoshop Elements for Fashion Design

    Hi,
I'm looking for software to help me in the Fashion Design Industry. I want to use it for my sketches.   I am a beginner when it comes to Fashion Design and have no experience using Photoshop software.  I had read somewhere that Photoshop Elements is a less expensive version of Photoshop.  I read that it does 90% of what Photoshop does without the higher end pre -press printing capabilities.  I also read that there is a book that will help you with the other 10% to achieve the full Photoshop capabilities.
1a.  I would like to know is anyone using Photoshop Elements for Fashion Design?
1b.  If yes, please explain in details what exactly are you using it for?
2a.  Is there more than one version of Photoshop Elements?
2b.  If so, what version do you recommend?
    3.   How easy is it to use?
    4.  Do you know of any books you can recommend that will help me with using the software for fashion design?
    5.  If you don't feel Photoshop Elements is the best choice, then what other software would you recommend?
    Thanks

I've never used PSE for fashion design, but there is only one flavor of elements, not a variety of different versions. I would wonder about using it for this because it could make a lot of difference if you need to create output in CMYK form (for print) or to softproof (neither of which is available in PSE). You also can't create composite layers in Elements.
I like Elements a lot, but I would not say it's 90% of Photoshop, more like 70% and I would expect that people would use Illustrator rather than PS for most things to do with creating illustrations. Also, there is no book that can make PSE into PS, although you can extend what it can do, but Adobe has deliberately crippled certain features in PSE.
I would say we need to know what you need a program to do to be able to give you any useful kind of advice. If you need to be able to draw vectors and paths, PSE is not a good choice. If you just need to sketch, it's fine.

  • About ODMr for product design and development.

how ODMr can be used to find patterns of desingers' behaviors when they create new design for a product?
In general, designers tend to change their design to satisfy needs required by customers or technicians.
Is ODMr able to find which design parameters are most contributive to the performance of a product?
Is it ok to use Decision Tree if I have hypothesis space for desing parameters and training data?
I want to use ODMr to improve R&D process.
But I'm sure it is a smart way to use ODMr for product design and development.
If anyone has good idea or other algorithm available for that field, please let me know~~
    Have fun~!

I would think if you are going to run both of those programs at the same time, or even one at a time, a system with discrete graphic would be a better fit for you.
The next question is if you are doing web design do you really need a retina display. At this time only apple has them so everyother computer viewing your web designs wouldn't see the difference, if there is any to begin with.

  • Migration from Designer: wrong alias for used table/view in views

    Hello,
I am using SQL DM version 3.3.0.744.
when importing a view from Designer, a query is build with aliases for the used tables/views which are the same as the table/view name. When using a where clause in Designer, you refer to the alias of the table/view, like t1.col1= t2.cola. Here t1 and t2 are the aliases of the underlying tables.
In Designer the following DDL is generated:
CREATE OR REPLACE FORCE VIEW VIEW5
    (COL2
    ,COL1)
    AS SELECT T2.COLA COL2
    ,T1.COL1 COL1
    FROM TAB2 T2
    ,TAB1 T1
    WHERE t1.col1= t2.cola
After importing the view in Data Modeler, the following DDL is generated:
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW VIEW5 ( COL2,
    COL1 )
    AS SELECT
    TAB2.COLA COL2,
    TAB1.COL1 COL1
    FROM
    TAB2 TAB2,
    TAB1 TAB1
    WHERE
    t1.col1= t2.cola ;
So by using the wrong alias, the where clause is invalid and the query builder doesn't show the joins.
The solution for this is to use the alias of the used table/view instead of the table/view name. Can you raise a bug for this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Joop

Thanks for your time. I did all possible way, but still the same problem. I mean

    EXP 9... IMP 9
Today I found that, NLS_LANG of two databases are different. Oracle 8i is : WE8ISO8859P1
    AND Oracle9i is : WE8MSWIN1252
So I created a new database from scratch with Oracle 8i character set :WE8ISO8859P1 and then use imp9i to import the file. Still the same problem.

    Hi Sweta,
Create the interface attributes of type string and xtring type.
Create node in the context of type graphics. bind the interface fields to the graphic node context element properties -
Graphic content, field of xzstring type and mimetype to be string/any char data type of suitable length.
In  layout drag and drop the image field and bind it to the graphic element.
    In yoour report programme-
do the code as berlow to pass the graphic data -
    <i>CALL METHOD cl_ssf_xsf_utilities=>get_bds_graphic_as_bmp
    EXPORTING
    p_object = 'GRAPHICS'
    p_name = '<mime type graphic name>'
    p_id = 'BMAP'
p_btype = 'BCOL' "BMON if monochrome
    RECEIVING
    p_bmp = w_binary

    IF sy-subrc <> 0.
    MESSAGE ID sy-msgid TYPE sy-msgty NUMBER sy-msgno
    WITH sy-msgv1 sy-msgv2 sy-msgv3 sy-msgv4.

in the call <form function module>
    pass the inerface values for
xstring (graphic field) to be w_binary (import parameter of the previous method)
and mime type  to be 'image/bmp'.
    This would work.

  • Using XDB for manipulating table BLOBS?

    Hi!
I have got a database table with a BLOB column which contains MS Office documents.
For editing the documents I have written a small application for downloading the document, edit it with Office and upload it again to the database. Can I use XDB for this task? If yes it would be easier to use because the users don't have to download and upload the documents...
I would expect the following - when the user clicks for editing a document, I copy the blob-column to a temporary XDB directory (for example /public/editing). The document gets opened from the XDB directory (with file assosiation in the right office program) and the users edit and save the document directly to the XDB folder. When they have finished I update the table BLOB with the XDB file and remove the file from XDB.
Can I use XDB therefore or do you know better solutions? I would be glad about any tips!
    Thanks
    Markus

I assume that using the XML format for word documents is not an option... If is you register a dummy schema for WORD-ML (Don't try and register the complete schema) and then have a table level trigger to store the content back in your table.
    The problem is bi-directional..
First, when the user wants to open a document how are you going to ensure that the 'virtual document' in the XML DB repository has the correct content. Even a trigger on XDB$RESOURCE cannot help here..
Second, for writing the content back in theory a trigger on XDB$RESOURCE could work. However this is an unsupported confguration, since the trigger could slow down repository operation to the point where protocol timeouts could occur.
The 11g XML DB repository events feature was designed to solve these problems...

  • Sales Order Unable to Use New Condition Tables for Tax Condition Type

    Dear All,
I am currently working on SAP R/3 4.0. I have a new requirement for my tax where I need to create new condition tables other than the 4 standard SAP tables which are Customer/Material, Division/Customer, Departure Country/Destination Country, Domestic Taxes and Export Taxes. My new tables consists of Departure Country/Destination Country/Shipping Point/Tax Code. The requirement is that the tax code is based on the chosen destination country and shipping point. The problem I am facing now is that no matter what types of table I create or even I generate with reference to the standard table, the access sequence will only refer to the 4 standard SAP tables above. Even if I put my own table in the highest priority for the access sequence, the same thing happens. My sales order will only pick up date from the standard table.
I wonder if anyone encountered the same problem as me.
    Kindly advise.
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Yvonne

    Hi
    Yvonne
I suggest fist check a simple thing ,whether u have successfully determined shipping point for each line item ,it is possible that just adding a line item will not trigger shipping point determination . So after u update the shipping point on line level u can rerun pricing and check agian if u r getting it .
Secondly for tax purposes I suggest   Try to have Customer and material tax classification approach  this allows to u have long term flexibiliy and also reduces your maintenance activity . As if u change or add number of shipping points and business changes using the sequence of shipping point ,the logic of just using shipping point will not work.
In Tax classification u cna add new condition table for each new tax category and use it in different access sequences.
This information can be passed on to FI using Different Tax code for Different combination.
    I hope this helps
    Regards
    Mandar
