Using the SB Audigy 2 ZS as a Recie

Hello,
I am running a Media Center computer as a main hub for all my entertainment needs. I bought a SB Audigy 2 SZ in the hopes that it would handle all my audio needs. I am having a problem now however. I would like to run the optical connection straight from my Xbox to the SB's Optical In and get my Surround that way. Is this possible? If it is, what could I be doing wrong? I can't seem to figure out how to get it to output what's comming from the Optical In.

Yes, that's possible. What you're essentially trying to do, is to use the soundcard/PC as the decoder, is that right? I presume you have analog speakers hooked up to the soundcard then.
As long as the card is set up to do the decoding (and the DVD software is set to Passthrough/Bypass), then this should work. The card will decode the signal coming in and output it over the analog speakers.

Crackling with XBOX games using the Audigy 2 ZS Plat. Pro

Hey, currently I have my XBOX wired into the internal front dri've that comes with the Audigy2 ZS Plat Pro. That is going in to the optical in, through the XBOX's high definition pack.
Now, when playing games, (Halo 2, Ghost Recon 2), I notice a LOT of crackling when there are explosions or bass heavy events on screen. It doesn't even seem to be just restricted to bass either, as when sometimes there is loud in-game talking coming through, that crackles as well. It is seems like when there is a lot of sound that is coming through, that triggers it mostly.
Anyways... I can't see how this would be a hardware conflict, since im just using the sound card to pass the XBOX's sound through to my Logitech Z-5300's. I have played with every setting on the Audio HQ and the Creative menu's (Volume control, bass redirection, THX settings, etc..)
Also worth mentioning is that games working from my PC are fine, as well as music. So it is definately isolated to the I/O Audigy connector. Also, there is no crackling when played on a regular home stereo receiver, so it is not a defect in the cable or anything.
Does anybody have any suggestions at all? I have been going nuts trying to figure this out!! I have downloaed and installed the lastest drivers, but perhaps im installing them in the wrong order? Who knows... please, someone help me out!! Hopefully the Creative staff have heard of this and can suggest something for me.

jeffsaylo what bigben said might be right also in the link i have at the bottom someone fixed this by changing the pci slot cause of a irq being used by 2 devices. worked for him but not for me but maybe you want to try it. check for this by going to control-panel then systemthen /hardware/device manager in device manager click view then "resources by connection" then look under irq for audigy and make shure its on its own number also to free up irq's disable unneed devices(in bios or windows?). anyway didnt work for me but let me know if you have any luck?

How to use the Audigy 2 ZS DD5.1 and DTS decoder with PowerDV

Is there anyone having success with PowerDVD 6 output SPDIF and using the Audigy 2 ZS DD5. and DTS decoder decodes sound to a 5. analog speaker?
I am having problem with that setup, the sound is clobberred and out of sync or sometime dropped entirely.
Don't tell me to change PowerDVD to waveout instead of directsound, I needs directsound since that the only thing MCE2005 supports.

I think all AD_EXT "I/O's" are pure digital.
Pinout assigment table for Audigy 2 (maybe not : with ZS) can be found (for ex.) from DriverHeaven.

Using the Audigy for phantom po

Hi there,
I have found out that you can use the Audigy to supply phantom power to a dynamic cardioid mic by changing a jumper on the dri've bay itself. Does anyone know how to do this? I want to see if this will eliminate the small but annoying problems I'm having.

But how to install in Windows 7 RC ?
I have the installation and applications CD with XP and Vista drivers and I have the driver-download from Creative.com SB24PCDRV LB 0 - 04 - 0090.
Windows 7 tells me "No device for audio output is installed". Windows automaticly?installed a driver, but that doesn't work. (code 39). The driver download from?creative does not install new drivers and when I try it manually Windows tells me "The best driver is already installed"
When I uninstall?the driver that Windows installed and try to install the downloaded?creative driver for Windows 7, the driver will not install, and Windows message is something like "?no audio device is installed on this computer"
What to do ? A computer without sound is nothing...

I have friends that play Left4Dead and they have been immensely pleased when playing the games in their flats with or without headphones, as compared to their old "onboard RE--t-k" sound.

Unable to load the user interface-please reinstall the application-Audigy 2 zs Platinum

unable to load the user interface-please reinstall the application---this is the message I get when my pc starts------Someone messing around with my computer tried to delete creative media source player 3 when they saw I had both 3 and 5 in folder and i get this error message every time I start my pc. In addition to this I have lost my EAX and THX consoles and my speaker settings are gone so I cannot adjust my 5. system at all. After I delete that error message when I click on the creative icon is sys tray instead of opening up the creative media player I get the error message--unable to load needed componants. Please reinstall the application. this is media player 3[version 3.32.]. I dont know why during the auto?updates through the last couple of years I have media player 3 in sys tray and if I need version 5 it is in file with 3--start-all programs-creative--any way my pc is a Cyberpower AMD FX-53 using win xp pro-32 bit-- and of course its a OEM product so they tell me the only way to get it to work is use the restoration cd they gave me when I bought the pc and it will revert back to its original state as when purchased. I would lose all my games, music, pictures?ect and would have to start from scratch.[ OR of course back everything up on a portable hard dri've]?It seems like there should be an easier way --hell I might as well buy a new soundcard and it would make it easier. All the issues you guys are talking about have been reported in beta stage of these new drivers. I would say none of them has been fixed yet. The only solution for now is to use previous drivers which work fine or use some modified drivers which fixes some issues, but not all. Your choice.

How to use the Digital Audio in & out RCA jacks a6010n

On the lower right of the back of my Pavillion a6010n desktop, above the mouse and keboard connections and below the monitor connection are two RCA jacks labeled Digital Audio in and out. The top one has an orange insulator and is labeled "out", and the lower one has a black insulator and is labeled "in". I have been unable to find any information about these or how to use them. Can anyone please tell me or direct me to information about this? I have Vista Home Premium 32 bit and have added a Sound Blaster Audigy sound card which is cheap but has a better S/N ratio. In Control Panel --> Sound the digital output for the sound card is listed but there is nothing about the Digital Audio jacks I would like to be able to use. Thank you all.

Yes there is. I suggest trolling these boards for the 3rd party remote solutions that will free you to use the remote in ANY application like Winamp, Notepad, Windows Media Player, etc.

Slow down the Creative Entertainment Center Fast Foreward when using the X-FI Remo

Hello,
When watching videos on my computer using the?Creative Entertainment?Center app and the remote with my X-FI SoundBlaster card the fast forward goes from zero to ludicrous speed instantly. I usually end up fast forwarding half way through the file without intending to. Is there a setting or registry or any other adjustment I can use to slow this down to a sane level? A 30 second skip for instance would be wonderful!

Creative doesnt seem to hav plans to release Entertainment center for Audigy 2 ZS. But theres a way to install and use Entertainment center with AUDIGY 2 ZS Platinum/Pro. I first installed the Audigy 4 Modded PAX drivers for Audigy2 ZS with all softwares(i downloaded Audigy 4 ISO) , Then i uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled Audigy 2 ZS drivers , and again installed Entertainment Center, Guess what now Audigy 4 doesnt prompt me that i dont have the required HARD WARE before installation starts, and i can install ny Audigy 4 software(nothing much new though , only Entertainment center and Smart Recorder). and i am now enjoying Entertainment CENTER with my Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro and with Audigy 2 drivers!!!!.
I think its not proper on part of CREATIVE not to release Ent. Center for Audigy 2, as the IO box and remote control of Audigy 2 and Audigy 4 are the same( RM-500 remote). so wats the point in keeping Ent. Center just for Audigy 4 and Up?

On the NEAGATIVE SIDE
- Every time u want to perform PAUSE, NEXT TRACK, PREVIOUS TRACK operations the Ent. Center pops up as a FULL screen app. interupting u r current TASK
- Also it is not integrated with MEDIA SOURCE Player,(i.e when u start playing song with ent. center it doesnt get layed with MEDIASOURCE so not DTS Neo:6 Playback!!!)
-Even the Press of CMSS button takes u to the full screen app. again causing INTERRUPTION!!!!!
- Doesn't Have a SEARCH option to search for tracks from thee Library
- No BASS/TREBLE/BALANCE Control thru. it

Updating drivers for the Soundblaster Audigy 2

Okay here's my problem, my original driver from the CD was dated from August 2004 so I decided to use the autoupdate. It installed the new driver but then my eax, and pretty much everything else wouldn't work. I followed all the uninstall directions given on the site and then only installed the newer driver, it does work fine but it seems that when you?download the standalone drivers it'sdoesn't come?with anything except for a small basic creative?audio control panel and no graghic equalizer and trying to figure out what else I need to download is confusing as hell. After that I uninstalled the new driver, cleaned?everything out,?I?went to put the CD in to go back to the original driver and it tells me there's no soundblaster card detected even though the autoupdate detected it just fine. So now I'm back to using the updated driver. As I said before it does work fine and I really don't use EAX or any other effects for games or movies but I would still like a graphic equalizer. Does anyone know if I can download a standalone equalizer for this driver?

Using the Xfi Titanium Champion in a chat r

I belong to a forum where I wish to play music and use the microphone at the same time (DJ). In the instructions for the forum for Windows Vista it says enable "stereo mix" or with Sound Blaster Cards check for "What I Hear". The Xfi in Vista 64 seems to present me with neither of these options to enable in Windows Vista64 when I check show all disabled and all disconected devices. How can I play music from my hard dri've and talk on the microphone at the same time in a chat room. This is specifically what I bought this card to do. Please help!? Being able to help with DJ tasks is important to me.

It's not the mic per se' I'm having trouble with. They can hear my mic, but not the music I'm playing off the hard dri've at the same time. Many lesser cards can do this, even in Vista so I dont see why they cant get this to work. I want to be able to play the music in a chat room, have people hear it, and talk over the music with my mic at the same time.
I can't seem to get their tech support people to understand this. They said it was Vista, but there are others in my group who use Vista and do it all the time with and Audigy card, a Li've card, or even cards from other manufacturers. Thank you for your response MadGizmo. I just don't think they believe people will do more than one thing with this card. But computers are multifunctional instruments of life, and they will be used for anything it is possible to do... even chat and play music!

Using the Zalman CNPS7000B-AlCu + Zalman ZM80D-HP VGA heatsink on MSI-K8N NEO-Platinum

Im buying a Athlon 64 system very soon (today or tommorow) and have the following question regarding the MSI-K8N NEO-Platinum. I know the Zalman CNPS7000B-AlCu fits on the mobo but it gets very close to the videocard. How close does it get? Can I still use the Zalman ZM80D-HP VGA heatsink? If anyone knows this please let me know.

I have the CNPS7000A-AlCu and the ZM80C-HP and the 7000A-AlCu is only about 2cm (maybe less) away from my graphics card. There is no way to have both the 7000A-AlCu and the ZM80C-HP (same goes for ZM80D-HP as Im 99% sure it is the exact same size as the ZM80C-HP) installed together without modifying the ZM80.
I was quite dissapointed about this cause I really wanted to use both so I tried to move the back heatsink of the ZM80C-HP but no matter what I did it just woulnd't fit with the 7000A-AlCu... BUT!...
What I did was to modify the ZM80 so that instead of the heatpipe going from the front to the back of the card as usual, it was turned around, so that the heatpipe now passes in front of the front-side heatsink. I then mounted the other heatsink (usually at the back of the card) so now both heatsinks are situated on one side of the card. Once I locked them in place with the little brackets they give you to join the two heatsinks it was done!
p.s. just in case you are wondering, the heatsinks are quite light so there is no real danger in having both placed on one side of the card. they don't pull the card to one side or stress the gpu mounting gear, etc. any more than having them installed normally. also, they are far enough apart when both on one side of the card for good airflow between them.
This all works for me and I haven't had any problems with it at all. It does mean that the whole graphics card + heatsink covers a LOT of PCI slots (4 I think). This is okay for me as I only have one PCI card (audigy 2) installed. Also, if you need to fit the optional fan for the ZM80 than you might run into trouble as the spacing between the heatsinks is smaller when using this setup than when they are installed as per zalmans instructions (front + back).

MaxL does not have commands to alter an outline directly, except the reset command which can delete all dimensions but not members selectively. The best you could do would be to run a rules file (import dimensions) using a file that contains the members you want to keepload rule for the dimension. As typical the warning is to test this first before you do it on a production database

How can multiple users use the same Creative Cloud Individual on one single-machine?

We have one shared graphics workstation, which is infrequently in use by different people - therefore we bought a single-workstation license (which we were referred to "Creative Cloud Individual"). In the FAQs it says it installs locally, but whenever a user different from the installing adminstrator logs in, he is forced to use the trial.
Is there a way to make the local installation usable on that single machine for multiple users?

Serenatasystems do the other users not have administrator access? What happens if they sign in using the Adobe ID tied to your Creative Cloud subscription? Do your Adobe Creative applications then exit trial mode?

What happens on iCloud (ex. contacts) when multiple family members use the same Apple ID?

What happens on iCloud when multiple family members use the same Apple ID? For example if we all choose to use iCloud for contacts, are they all merged together? We use the same Apple ID so we can use find my iPhone to keep track of the whole family.

Of course if you are both connected to the same iCloud account you have the same contacts - what did you expect?. The contacts live on the server and are read from there by the devices; so as you've both managed to sync your contacts up to iCloud they are now inextricably mixed. You can only delete your contacts by deleting individual ones, and doing that will delete them from your phone as well.
You can only unravel this by
1. In the iCloud contacts page at http://icloud.com, select all the contacts, click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Export vCard'.
2. Sign out of System Preferences>iCloud
3. Create a new Apple ID and open a new iCloud account with it for your own use.
4. Import the vCard back into the iCloud contacts page.
5. Go to http://icloud.com and sign in with the original ID. This is now his ID. Work through the contacts individually deleting the ones you don't want him to have. When done sign out and advise him to change his password.
6. Go to the new iCloud account and delete his contacts individually.
Of course if you have also been syncing calendars and using the same email address there are problems with doing this.

Cannot send email from Verizon to a specific domain using the web UI

I'm trying to send an email to a specific address on a domain I own from a Verizon account using the web UI. Whenever I click send, a popup appears saying "Your e-mail contains the following invalid e-mail addresses:" followed by the email address. I can send email to this address from a GMail account as well as my work email.
In Chrome, I can see that a "code":1002 error is being produced.
Does anyone know why this would happen? Does Verizon check destination domains for reputation? Is there any way to debug this further?
