Using toast titanium

ive never had any problems using toast titanium version 9, but today ive tried to burn avi files as a dvd-video and while it is encoding the application just closes down without even a prompt saying that it "unexpectedly quit." ive tried it about five times today with the same results. is there some sort of a cache i need to delete or anything else? im out of ideas and i can really use the help. thanks

Hello,
How much available disk space do you have? Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop, then click: Get Info. In the Get Info window, click the discovery triangle so it's facing down. You will see; Capacity and Available Make sure you have 10% available disk space, 15% is better.
Processes such as burning a DVD, if there isn't enough free disk space... the app can freeze or quit.
Look here: /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences and see if the there's a Toast preference .plist file. If there is, drag it to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot. It might be com.toast.plist or com.roxio.plist similar to that.
This from the Apple Help Viewer: Applications Unexpectedly Quit
There are several reasons an application might quit suddenly. If an application does so repeatedly, try to correct the problem by:
• Reopening the application. Click Reopen in the dialog that appears when the application quits unexpectedly.
• Clicking Try Again in the dialog that appears if the application crashes after using the Reopen button. If there is a problem with the application's preferences file, clicking Try Again sets the application to temporarily use new settings based on the application's default settings.
• Restarting your computer by choosing Apple > Restart.
• Uninstalling any third-party plug-ins or enhancements for the application that's quitting unexpectedly. When you update an application or Mac OS X, a plug-in or enhancement you previously installed may not be compatible any longer.
• Reading the application's documentation (including Read Me notes) to check if it's compatible with your version of Mac OS X.
• Opening another document in the application. There may be a problem with the document you were opening before.
• Using Disk Utility (in the Utilities folder of your Applications folder or on your Mac OS X installation disc) to repair the disk.
• Updating your software by choosing Apple > Update Software. Updates often correct issues found in previous versions. For applications not produced by Apple, look for updates on the manufacturer's website.
• Disconnecting any peripheral device you just connected (for example, a printer). It may not be compatible with your version of Mac OS X. If disconnecting the device solves your problem, contact its manufacturer.
• Running Apple Hardware Test, on a disc that came with your computer. If you just installed hardware, such as additional memory, Apple Hardware Test can tell you if it's defective. If you can't find Apple Hardware Test, take your computer to an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

  • Trying to burn a file over 700MB using Toast titanium 7

In windows if i burn a file over the standard size cd disc it will tell me i need to use 2 cd's
i want to do that on my G5 IMAC and my G4 Powerbook using toast titanium 7 but it just says File exceeds the size of disc - thats all
    what can i do?

If you are burning a CD with Toast 7 and it is a Data Disk, in the menu that
pops out to to the left select Mac Only. Once you check that box it should
automatically burn to as many CDs as necessary. I've included a picture for
    reference.

  • Cannot successfully burn a DVD on MacBook using Toast Titanium

I keep getting an error -208 about 68% through the compression process. I really need to be able to use this burn function for work. Anyone wanna save my life?

    which toast version you have?
are you sure that the file is valid and not corrupted?
check toast updater from roxio for latest patch.
update your macbook software and hardware (quick time is one of them) and repair permission after that.
    Good Luck.

  • PMG5 suddenly goes to sleep (When using Toaster Titanium)

Since yesterday my dual g5 2*2,7 have developed a new problem.
Im trying to toast a dvd for my sister as a x-mas gift, but whenever I start the encoding process the computer after a few minutes suddenly goes into sleepmode without warning. Im suspecting some sort of heating problem because if I wake it up shorty after it goes down in sleepmode again a lot faster than if I wait for a while. Any tips on how to verify any heatproblems? leaks maybe?

  • Transfering music from Itunes/Mac to DVD to Itunes PC using Toast

I'd like to share some of my music with a friend (long distance) who has Itunes for PC(windows). Can I burn songs onto a DVD using Toast Titanium? When he imports the music from the DVD will the song info show up on his Itunes? Will this work for purchased music too?
    Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

You can make Audio cds, and data backups of the music you purchsed from the iTMS for your personal use only. This is according to the Terms of Service you agreed to when you signed up for your account on the iTMS. The terms of service do not allow you to "share" any music purchsed by you with anyone else.
Besides, if you want your friend to be able to play the music you want to "share" with him you will have to give him your iTMS username and password.

  • What reigon is a dvd created from new using Toast?

    Hi all
I've just made a dvd from some .mov files with no DRM issues using toast titanium. All fine, but I want to send it to someone in New Zealand. I'm told that the dvd will be reigon 0. Is that correct?
    Thanks in advance

I have been faced with this problem before and have tried the different tools that are available including using UNIX scripts ect. I usually end up frustrated and spend half my life trying to understand how things work and how to use stuff. In the end it just became such a hassle that I gave up!!
What really crunched it was when I bought a DVD RW player and started recording stuff from the TV and found myself more and more needing to do exactly what you are saying. Take extracts from the TS_Video folder and import them into imovie.
In the end I saw an article in Mac World magazine for Cinamatize2 from http://www.miraizon.com. I have only had it a week or so, and am still getting used to it. What I will say is that it's a lot easier to use than all the other "scripts" etc that I've tried. It has a user friendly GUI and good instructions!! at the moment you can get it for just over $50 with the Mac World 10% discount. I think that it's money well spent if you intend to do this regularly!!

  • Adding audio to a Video CD slideshow using Toast

I have been able to create a Video CD slideshow using Toast Titanium 7.0. Has anyone successfully been able to add audio to a VCD slideshow? If so exactly how did you do it. The Toast help files were no help. They instructed me to use the application Motion Pictures which comes bundled with Toast. I was able to create a slideshow with audio with this application but could not figure out how to import it into Toast.

    1. I suggest you post all questions concerning the use of Toast to Roxio's own Discussion Groups. That's where you will find the ardent Toast gurus. This isn't the "Using Roxio Toast" Discussion.
    2. See also the "Other links" section of my my "VCD and SVCD Players" FAQ. That section contains links to some other sources of VCD/SVCD hints, tips, etc.

  • Toast Titanium Burn at 1x ?

I'm trying to use Toast Titanium to burn at 1x, but it only takes 5 minutes to burn a 60 minute project.
I chose either a write speed of 1x or 1xDVD with the same results. (which one is better by the way?)
My media is Prodisc 8x media. I used to have a different media previously, and it worked fine (taking almost an hour to burn). Is it somehow always burning at 8x because of the media? This speed should be a max, not a minimum.
The whole reason I bought Toast was to burn slowly. I would like to burn them as slow as possible because I have seen some quality issues at the current high speed.
Project was created with DVD Studio Pro.
Thanks in advance for help. - Duane

What do you mean "quality"? Do you mean the disks are no good or the video is not what you expected? Burning speed has little to do with the former and nothing to do with the latter. Error correction and verification should be controllable within Toast.
The burning speed is a function of your DVD burner's controls that are available and the prefs for Toast, which I do not use any longer. Try talking to the good folks and the Toast company.

  • Toast Titanium

I use toast titanium to burn my .mov files but whenever I play them back in a dvd player instead of playing seamlessly it jumps around to previous chapters. how do i fix this?

What exactly are you trying to do? Is this a commercial movie that you are trying to import into iTunes? I don't know if you can import movies into iTunes unless you've purchased or rented them from the iTunes store.

  • Burn Bin image on Toast Titanium

    Hi
I ve created a bin image of Windows XP using Toast Titanium 7, however the program refuses to write the image. I also get an error when trying to mount the image file under the toast format.
Any ideas on what is causing the problem?

Followed your advice and I made some progress.
I exported my project from FCE using the Quicktime Movie option and it comes out great. I tried putting in iDVD and putting it on the Dual-Layer Disc setting Project Info and it appears that it will have enough space to come out ok.
A new problem is that my project on the iDVD playback is being played in fullscreen when its supposed to be played in its original widescreen format. I'm not excatly sure what to do next, especially considering that another video in the same project with the same specifications and formatting is being played in its intended widescreen formatting...

  • Using Roxio Toast Titanium with 550 PowerBook

    Hello eveyone.
I recently installed Tiger and am now on V. 10.4.7
My PB has no cd or dvd burner so about 3 years ago, I bought a burner and installed Roxio Toast Titanium 5.1.2. All went OK - until Tiger.
After the Tiger install, I can't get my Toast to open. This means I can use my burner - an ez quest connected with firewire - to burn a cd from iTunes but I cannot burn any of my iPhoto pics.
Anyone had a similar problem? How do I fix it?? Should I just buy and install the latest from Roxio - their Media 8 I think?
    Any help would be great!

Is reparing perms a big thing?
It's a big thing in that it needs to get done, say like changing your oil. But like the oil, it's not a big thing to do.
Can I go wrong and make things worse?
    I can't even imagine how. It's a normal, supposed-to-be performed thing.
Open Applications:Utilities:Disk Utility, select your HD on the left side, click on Repair Permissions at the bottom, wait a few minutes until it's finished, quit DU, and you're all set.
Also, I'd guess that you don't run Background Maintenance; I'd strongly recommend it (I like MacJanitor because it's so easy and it's freeware).
Not to worry, this all normal/routine stuff.

  • I need help with Toast Titanium please!

    Hey everyone,
I didnt know where to post this so I figured here is good since you're all handy with video apps. I just got my unibody MBP and for some reason, whenever I try to burn something in Toast Titanium or Popcorn, it it stuck in the "Preparing" mode. iDVD has been burning fine, but the others applications are not. Can anyone figure this out?
    Thanks!

Which versions of those apps are you using and are they compatible with your computer's Intel processor?
You need at least Toast 7.1 or Popcorn 2.0 to run properly. Even then they might not be compatible with Mac OS X 10.5

  • Error -50 when burning a DVD to an external FW Burner using Toast 10

I just upgraded to a refurbed 2009 iMac 27" i7, and it of course has one fw 800 port.
My Samsung SH-S222L dvd drive is in an Ezquest Monsoon FW 400 external case that worked
flawlessly with my PM G4. I also have a brand new Seagate FreeAgent Go
500GB drive, that has two fw800 ports on it.
I connect thusly: from the iMac to the Seagate via fw 800, and then out of the
seagate to the external dvd drive, using an fw 800 to fw 400 cable.
The imac recognizes two devices on the FW chain.
However, when I try to burn a dvd on the EzQuest,
Toast Titanium 10 reports an error -50, and says that it cannot burn the disc,
however, Toast somehow sent the command over and the drive
begins burning the disc, even though Toast said it could not,
due to the Mac OS -50 error.
2 mins later ( burning at 12x on Taiyo Uden Media) the disc is done.
And yet I cannot control the drive ( eject the disc)
from the iMac, because it still reports error -50.
Turning off the Drive and turning it back on,
will mount the burned disc, and then I can eject it as normal.
    So, my questions:
    1. is FW on Snow Leopard machines THAT flaky?
Or does it have to do with the "piggyback"...going FW 800 to FW 800 to FW 400,
that could be causing the issue?
    2.
Could the issue be that the error -50 is occurring because
the iMac has TWO DVD drives, an internal and an external one?
That Toast or Snow Leopard is making the iMac not talk to the right
drive, and it has a momentary lapse and that causes the error -50?
I'm at the point now tonight when I get home trying to see if just
the drive BY ITSELF will work via FW ( going 800 to 400)
and that perhaps the issue is that it cannot handle more than
one device on the onboard FW port?
At least I figured I'd give it a shot before getting a new external case,
a USB only one ( this one is FW 400 only) and just using a USB external burner,
and only have the one FW drive on the bus.
    Any help would be appreciated....
    terryj

    Solved it---
the problem was the EZQuest Monsoon FW400 External Enclosure.
Turns out that even though it has an Oxford 911 chipset,
the firmware is not compatible with Snow Leopard 10.6.4.
I found this out after working with both Apple and OWC
trying to rectify it. Now to rma the Monsoon case,
and switch to a USB 2.0 external case for the drive....

  • TOAST TITANIUM & iMOVIE

I CANNOT save a disc image by saving my large video files (21+ GB) using iDVD. It will not allow me to use it (iDVD). Is there a way I can burn such large volumes as a disc image and then burn to DVD with the computer requesting new DVD being inserted as needed? Will Toast Titanium handle this? My movie is only 2 hours and 15 min. or so; doesn't anythiing compress it down to fit on a Dual Layer DVD? All of the music I layed under it and other such things ate up memory. Will Toast solve this problem? Any other suggestions? Thanks so much for everything!
    Best,
    Mitch

iDVD doesn't care for size, but length.
iDVD allows import of up to <120min
    edit project
    or, cut in two:
