Using USB

I am using pages In an I pad 2 and it is taking ages for documents to open. Can I use a USB camera converter to store the documents on it so I don't take all the memory on my I pad (16gb)

no, you can't. The only thing the USB attachment supports is the import of photos or video. There's no support for documents. Sorry.

That is definitely odd, grantcool. Let's help restore this important data transfer feature. To confirm, when you connect the USB cable to your phone and computer > Pull down the Notification Bar > Select USB Connected > Can you choose Media Sync (MTP) ?

  • Using USB instead of TCP

    HI All,
Recently, I have been using PXI for realtime data acquisition. I'm presently using PXI-8175 and find that there are USB ports available. What exactly are these ports for?
I am just wondering, if I can use USB for transfer of data from Labview to PXI instead of using TCP which would support high data transfer rate.
Can someone shed some light on this?
    Aravind

I want to make sure to clarify this point. USB is a serial
communication method talking to many devices which has an inherent
large amount of jitter and communication overhead. Doing USB communication
adds to the jitter of the system which is a bad thing for RT systems. This is the
reason we recommend using TCP/IP for your RT communication.
As to your question of why we have the USB ports on the controller, they are used for the Windows variants of our PXI embedded controllers. You'll notice that most of our PXI controller offerings have both a Windows XP and LabVIEW RT variant.
    Hope this helps,
    -Adam

GREAT FIRST POST!! Very clear and specific. You don't know how rare that is
Is the laptop in a docking bay?

Are you able to backup and sync with the Desktop software?
Do you have the correct folders on the card?

    (blackberry has to be first).
Last one, how did you format the card?

The following is the read and write sequence examples , I want to confirm that this sequence is done by General I2C Read.vi .
    Example Write sequence:
    1)      Slave Address 0x58
    2)      Register Address 0x00
    3)      Byte count 0x03 (to write 3 bytes)
    4)      Data Byte 1
    5)      Data Byte 2
    6)      Data Byte 3
    Example Read Sequence:
    1)      Slave Address 0x58
    2)      Register Address 0x00
    3)      Repeat start Slave address (will be 0x59)
    4)      Byte Count 0x03 ( to read 3 bytes)

  • Using USB-9211 to measure a small voltage - apparent signal offset?

    Hi,
I wish to acquire a small voltage signal (0-20mV) using USB-9211.  I know that this device is designed for use with thermocouples, but I have been informed that it can also be used for measurement of small voltage signals (24 bit resolution over +/- 80mV range).
The problem I am having is that the device seems to generate a small voltage (~3.2mV), which causes a degree of 'offset' in the signal I acquire.  My first guess is that this is caused by the internal CJC of the device, however I cannot find any way of removing this signal within LabView.  If this is the case, is the magnitude of the offset dependent on the temperature of the device itself?
Can anybody confirm what the source of this voltage is, and advise what is the best way to acquire my signal through LabView?
I have already raised this query with the helpdesk (ref #613180) but have not yet had a definitive answer.
    Many thanks
    Pete

The offset is dependent upon the temperature of your cold junction.
To prove this try heating the cold junction with a hair dryer with
    your signal leads shorted.

  • Using USB NI-6008 on LV7.1 the results data has to be in Excel. It looks as cluster data format that i can not insert into excel VI

I am Using USB 6008 with LV 7.1. The application is voltage logger and i would like to use excel and upload the data . The Columns will be the channels and the rows will be the data.
The data comes from the DAQmx vi not like a simple string or an number it is kind of cluster data
which contains strings and numbers and more for each measurement.
I tryed to work with spraedshit and it goes ok but it is not conveniant to convert later to excel.
Do you have a solution for that please?
(How to extract the data from the cluster type format that is used with USB6008).

    Arik:
I hope all is well. If you are trying to write data to a text file along with the header information, you could do the following:
    1. Open a reference to a file and write the header information right away.
    2. Do your continuous acquisition (in a loop) using the 6008 and write the data to a file everytime.
    3. With the proper formatting, your colums will represent channels and your rows data.
Please take a look at the attached example and let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Using USB-6008 software timimg Generate waveform

I am using USB-6008 device. Base on it's User Guide, this device on support software-timed and maximum update rate is 150 Hz.
By place a time delay VI for 1ms, I have a 1.660Hz sine signal. Is this wrong for place a time delay VI for software timing?
I would like to generate a 60 Hz signal by using software-timed VI on USB-6008 device. How should I do?
    Thanks a lot.

    DephinTW,
The update speed of the USB-6008 is largely dependent on the speed of
you computer as well as anything else on your USB bus. If you are using
an older computer or have other USB devices on the bus, you may not
achieve this rate. In order to output a 60Hz signal, the minimum output
sampling rate is 120Hz. This corresponds to an 8.3 msec. delay between
samples. Instead of using the "Wait" VI, you should try using the "Wait
Until Next ms Multiple" VI. Place this in parallel with your
generation. This will synchronize the output with multiples of the PC
clock, rather than waiting for a fixed amount of time, irrespective of
    code and USB overhead.
    Hope this helps,

  • Using USB 6341 device for frequency generation but level is droped when conect

i am using USB-6341 Daq Device for frequency generation. The desired frequency is generated correctly but when i connect to other device the voltage level i means the Peak to Peak voltage of the frequency dropped to 0.6, 1 Volt and also the frequency fluctuated. As I disconnect it from the load or the device the frequency becomes constant and peak to peak voltage becomes 5.
Please some help me to resolve my problem.
    Thanks
    Best Regards

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Nasib,
I just wanted to clarify a few more things. Can you answer the following questions?
What frequency are you trying to generate?
When there is no load connected do you see the desired frequency?
When the load is connected, does the frequency always change to the same value or does it fluctuate within a certain range? If it fluctuates, what is the range?
Also, what microcontroller are you using?
    Can you provide any images?

  • Hangs iTunes unless using USB 1.1

I'd like to add my voice to the numerous problems on this forum with connecting and syncing the Shuffle with iTunes. While my Shuffle has been flaky as long as I can remember, it's pretty much unusable with iTunes 8.
In those moments of bliss when I can actually get the Shuffle to be recognized by the Mac, I've tried the dance of hard resetting the Shuffle, restoring it with the Reset Utility, erasing it on my MacBook and then erasing in on my G5, restarting the computer, resetting the PRAM, trashing com.apple.ipod.plist files, using different USB ports, and on and on.
Nothing will make this turkey work reliably. I'd say it fails at least 8-9 times out of 10 trying to connect and sync on this computer. I can't even change the settings without it hanging iTunes.
But wait ... it works fine, but slooooowly, when plugged into the USB 1.1 keyboard port. I'd dump this lemon for a nano, but I really like the small form factor.
Any other magic dance I can do?

I see the iTunes 8.0.1 update didn't do anything to correct this problem. I switched to USB 2.0 and copied over one podcast and it seemed to do so successfully. When I went to eject the Shuffle, it hung iTunes. When I got tired of waiting, I unplugged the shuffle and iTunes came back to life.
But then, my G5 spontaneously did a sleep/wake in about two seconds. The HP scanner software came to life thinking that I'd pressed a button on my scanner. Nope. So maybe the root cause is in the OS and the USB drivers?
    Back to using USB 1.1.
