Using variants to set/get container variables?

I am trying to determine if there is a way to retreive TestStand container variables into CVI using variants.  The goal is to not have to get each member of the container separately.  I am not seeing a way to do this - if it can please done can you please provide an example?  Thanks.

Hi Snood1,
There are several ways to pass containers to and from code modules, one
of which is the same method you are currently employing.
I've found an old discussion forum that still is relevant to your question - you can find it here:

Hope this helps! If you have more questions feel free to let us know.
Have a good one Snood1,

  • About use of methods set/get of BindingContext

    Hi,
    I need to store some information related to a Data Page "history". I'd like to use the resources that ADF gives (I could just use a session attribute instead) so I tried to use the HashMap included in the BindingContext:
    actionContext.getBindingContext().put("value", value);
    I've cheched that this attribute is stored in a "transient" HashMap in the BindingContext object. Does this mean that I can't rely on this map to store the values that I want to be "session-persistent"? Is there a better way to do this without directly using session attributes? (Remember that I'd like to use at maximum the resources that ADF gives).
    Thanks.
    Luis Serrano.

    set it up as shown below, for your sample use 4 vairables, one for the Region, one for the language and two for the the text items. 2 regions, 3 sets of languages each, yields 6 Datasets.

    It seems that the formatting such as bold, italic and so on is not exported into the data set which is quite embarrassing.
    the Data Set is just that...data. Format your text holder as desired, it won't change when you change data sets.

  • XPATH Predicate for container variable of simple type in BPM

    Hi Experts,
    I have read various threads and blogs with this topic and as I couldn't get a clear view, hence I am raising it here. In my BPM, I am collecting idocs by means of a finite loop. I have used a receive step, container step(to append the idocs) and another container(to increment the counter_variable) in a loop. I want to run the loop for the condition: counter_variable<=3 whereas 'counter_variable' is a container variable of 'simple XSD type(XSD: integer)'.
    All the blogs and threads  have demonstrated like how to use the EX operator with container variable of type 'Abstract interface'. But how can i incorporate the above scenario for a container variable of simple xsd type ? Please share your ideas.
    Regards,
    Laawanya

    so this is what you need to do,
    1. in your loop have a container operation that will increment your simple integer variable each time a message come in.
    2. for your loop the condition will be, left operand (simple integer variable) /= (not equal) 3 (Constant)
    Ref: SAP BASIS (SWCV) -> http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Patterns -> Integration Process -> BpmPatternCollectPayload
    the only difference here will be the loop condition to be altered as i have mentioned above.

  • BPM: Pass container variable out to message

    Hi,
    Does anyone have any idea how to pass a container value in BPM out to a message easily ?
    I am managing to set the container variable ok but need to pass this value out to the destination message of the BPM process.
    Any ideas ?
    Cheers
    Colin.

    Hi Michal,
    Thank you for your response.  The problem we are facing is that we can extract a value from the incoming message using a container operation.  We call the variable the REQUEST_DOCNUM.  We then make an synchronous call out which maps the ORDERS ORDERS05 IDoc to a CXML OrderRequest, posts to a vendor website which returns a CXML Response status, which is then mapped to a STATUS SYSTAT01 IDoc.
    At this point, we want to stick the REQUEST_DOCNUM into the STATUS IDoc.  The problem is that we cannot use a container operation to stick the REQUEST_DOCNUM into this IDoc because the STATUS IDoc is an abstart interface.  We cannot assign a simple variable to an abstract interface.
    So the only other thing that we can think of is the Transformation.  However, how can we transform a simple type and a STATUS IDoc to a STATUS IDoc that has the simple type variable in one of the elements.  I don't think we can do this.
    We appreciate your help.

  • Set/get variables with RSBBS from  query 1 to query 2

    Hi BW Experts,
    I created a sender/receiver assignment from query 1 to query 2 using RSBBS. For two characteristics I assigned the processing method by “Variable”. Process mode for these variables in the receiver query is by “customer exit”. But I don’t know how to set/get values of these variables.
    Is there any function module to do it ??
    Please help!!

  • Using set/get parameters or export/import in BSP.

    Hi All,
    Is it possible to use set/get or export/import in BSP?
    We need to set/export some variables from a BADI and get/ import them in the BSP application.
    Code snippet will be of great help..
    Thanks,
    Anubhav

    Hi Anubhav,
    You can use the Export / Import statements for your requirement,
    from the BADI use EXPORT to send the variable data to a unique memory location
    with IDs
    e.g.
    *data declaration required for background processing
          DATA: WA_INDX TYPE INDX.
    **here CNAME is the variable you want to export
    EXPORT PNAME = CNAME TO DATABASE INDX(XY) FROM WA_INDX CLIENT
                SY-MANDT ID 'ZVAR1'.
    and in the BSP application use the IMPORT statement to fetch back the values
    set with the IDs above.
    IMPORT PNAME = LV_CNAME
      FROM DATABASE INDX(XY) TO WA_INDX CLIENT
      SY-MANDT ID 'ZVAR1'.
    deletes the data to save wastage of memory
      DELETE FROM DATABASE INDX(XY)
        CLIENT SY-MANDT
        ID 'ZVAR1'.

  • Using Standard Container Variables in Email Alerts from BPM

    Dear All
    While creating alert categories from ALRTCATDEF we have a Long Text Tab where we can use Container  Variables like  SXMS_MSG_GUID ,SXMS_RULE_NAME, SXMS_ERROR_CAT , SXMS_ERROR_CODE etc create the mail contents.  We can also display the message passed by the BPM by using the variable
    ALERTDYNAMIC_SHORTTEXT , ALERTDYNAMIC_LONGTEXT .
    In my case when I call the alert category from the BPM , the message passed by the BPM is displayed through the ALERTDYNAMIC_LONGTEXT in the alert inbox , but I am not able to utilize the other container variables (like SXMS_MSG_GUID ,SXMS_RULE_NAME, SXMS_ERROR_CAT ) for displaying the messageid ,error category etc. Using these variables for alerts invoked from BPM results in Blank Values for all the container variables.
    If the alert is not invoked from BPM these variables are getting populated.
    My question is is there a way by which we can utilize these variables for Alerts thrown from BPM.

  • How to get the variable set by c:set in Scriptlet ?

    Hello,
    I set up some variables by <c:set> and struts tag <bean:size>, and the values should be considered as integers. How can I use the variables in math expression?
    When I try to use the variables in scriptlets, I got compile errors in the getAttribute lines.
    My code:
    <bean:size id="listSize" name="list" /> <c:set var="pageSize" value="${20}" />
    <c:set var="pageBegin" value="${param.pageBegin}" />
    <%
    int ls = (Integer)pageContext.getAttribute("listSize");
    int ps = (Integer)pageContext.getAttribute("pageSize");
    int totalPages = (int)Math.ceil((double)ls / ps);

  • Queue alerts container variables are not getting filled

    Hi All,
    I am referring this blog to create alerts when message struck in queues
    /people/santhosh.kumarv/blog/2009/05/19/sap-xipi-alerts-for-queue-errors
    I am able to get the alert when a message struck in Queue of XI. But Container variables are not filled with actual run time values
    I have used the report as it is and container variables as described in blog.
    I have implemented Alerts for IE & AE alerts, those are looks good as expected.
    Please let me know any clue
    Regards

    Hi,
    After investigating all the things i found these
    1) We have already Integration Engine & Adapter Engine Alerts configured in landscape with separate alert categories & working fine
    2) Now i configured one more alert category for Queue error with the above mentioned Blog
    Important thing: is even though if any error occurred on Integration engine, i get 2 alerts. one with Integration Engine alert category description  & one more is with Queue alert category description
    Reason for this is, for Queue alert category i selected radio button as "No Restriction". because of this if any IE error occurred also queue alert category is also triggering along with Integration engine alert category .
    Please let me know is it possible to implement Queue alerts along with the IE & AE type alert categories
    Any one implemented IE, AE & Queue alerts in single landscape

  • How do I set a public variable in a native ActiveX DLL using Java?

    Hello,
    I have run into an issue that I cannot seem to find any documentation on, and all of my efforts with search engines have returned no useful results.
    Here is my situation:
    I have an Active X DLL that has a very simple configuration, but it is a third party DLL which I cannot modify. To interface with the DLL I have to set a series of public variables and then call a method with no parameters that will use the current values of the variables to perform a calculation. There are no "set" or "get" methods.
    At this point I have a very good idea about how to use JNI to create the class in java, and call the method. However, this does me no good at all if I cannot set the variables.
    Everything I have found so far defaults to an assumption of no direct access to variables, and that getter and setter methods would be available for that purpose. Anyone know of a way that this might be handled? I would provide source code, but it seems useless unless I know how to actually do this.
    Thanks in advance for any input.

    OK. Those are OLE/ActiveX/COM/WhateverTheyCallIt getters and setters, that VB makes look like object 'properties'.
    If you are familiar a bit with C#, they also have 'properties', which are getters and setters hidden behind a syntax that makes them look like member variables.
    I am affraid my help has to stop here, as I don't remember COM anymore.
    But, unless you find someone who really knows COM, you will have to investigate by yourself.
    One suggestion though: open a C++ project in VisualStudio 2005 or 2008 (not Express, it seems not to support what I describe).
    Go to something like References or Add Reference and you will see a tabbed dialog box with a COM tab (I describe all this from memory).
    Add your DLL. After this do View->Object Browser or alike. It should show your COM object. You will be able to examine its methods and properties.
    I think Visual Studio canl generate code for invoking them. This is the C code that somehow you should take from there and place in your JNI code.

    Correction: VS2008 Express also supports this, but to get there, you do View->Object Browser->Click the "..." button->COM tab.
    VS2008 Express is free.

  • How to Set multiple Global Variables without using Controls or Indicators

    I have to set many Global Variables (i.e. declare and initialize them) in a subVI in order to pass them to various other subVI's. The only way I know how to do it in LabView is to create a Globals.vi on which you create a control or indicator for EACH Global Variable. That's fine if you have only a few variables. But I have close to a hundred Global Variables (which come from a configuration file for a large program) and clearly it is impractical and cumbersome to create a control for each global variable. In Agilent Vee, there is a simple function called "Set Variable" that sets the data value of a global variable. Then in other module, you simply use the "Get Variable" function to get back the v
    ariable and its value.
    In LabView you can use the "Invoke Node / Set Control Value" and "Get Control Value" properties to achieve the same thing. But as mentioned above, you need to create a control for each global variable and that is a big pain in my case, with many global variables. Furthermore, the global variables are read from a Configuration Text File to this VI. Is there a way to do it without using the control? Thank you in advance for any help.

    Actually you could create the same sort of facility in LV. All you have to do is create a LV2-style global that behaves as follows:
    To write a value to it, you supply a value name and the value. These pieces of data are save internally in seperate arrays.
    To read a value, you supply a value name. The VI looks up this name in the value name array to return an index into the value array. Output the value you find.
    Frankly though, it sounds like what you really need is not hundreds of globals, but a good way to manage configuration data.

  • Get BPM Container Variable?

    Is it possible to get the value of a BPM simple type container variable at Mapping time?

    Hi Ruben,
    you can use a trick:
    - datatype: extend the source container with one field (your simple type)
    - datatype: make all fields optional (0-1 or 0-unbounded)
    - process: create a new multiline container from this type
    - tranformation: fill the one line container with simple type
    - container operation: append to multiline
    - tranformation: fill the one line container with your message
    - container operation: append to multiline
    - transformation: merge the multiline to single-line
    - transformation: Now you have the value of your simple type in an additional field

  • Using Powershell to set Multiple timed.servers with variables

    Having an issue using PowerShell to set 3 timed.servers which are defined in a variable. Running the commands: $TimeServers = "IPaddress1,IPaddress2,IPaddress3"Set-NaOption -OptionName timed.servers -OptionValue $TimeServers Thanks in advance!

    Hi, The Set-NaOption CmdLet -optionvalue parameter expects a string and it shouldn't matter if that's a comma delimited string containing multiple IP Addresses. I noticed that whilst the cmdlet thows an error it does actually set the option value for all servers so this seems like it could be a bug (IMO). It might be possible to invoke the API using "Invoke-NaSystemApi" but I checked the ZAPI and noticed this also fails using ZExplore from the SDK: ZAPI Request: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <netapp  xmlns="http://www.netapp.com/filer/admin" version="1.21">
      <options-set>
        <name>timed.servers</name>
        <value>192.168.100.10,192.168.100.11,192.168.100.12</value>
      </options-set>
    </netapp> ZAPI Results: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' ?>
    <netapp version='1.1' xmlns='http://www.netapp.com/filer/admin'>
        <!-- Output of options-set [Execution Time: 8610 ms] -->
        <results reason='Unable to set option: timed.servers' errno='13001' status='failed'>
            <cluster-constraint>same_preferred</cluster-constraint>
            <cluster_constraint>same_preferred</cluster_constraint>
            <message>1 entry was deleted.
    </message>
        </results>
    </netapp> So i think the options are either using the "Set-NaOption" cmdlet with the -SilentlyContinue parameter or the "Invoke-NaSsh" cmdlet with -ErrorAction stop.As a work around i'd recommend something like: [String]$servers = "192.168.100.10,192.168.100.11,192.168.100.12"
    [String]$command = "options timed.servers $servers"
    Try{
       Invoke-NaSsh -Command $command -ErrorAction Stop
       Write-Host "Executed Command: $command"
    }Catch{
       Write-Warning -Message $("Failed Executing Command: $command. Error " + $_.Exception.Message)
    } Hope that helps /matt

  • Use 'se38' to set variants with long time no-response in production system?

    hi,Guys,  When I use 'se38' to set variants with long time no-response in production system?
    I think it's none of business with program performance.  Maybe system response delay, But no other program like the same response happened?
    best regards

    Hi,
    what's your problem? Didn't get the point.
    You have a report, where the maintenance of the selection variant has a long runtime (in production?)
    Maybe AT SELECTION screen some checks / helps are executed, which are quite fast in DEV, but access much bigger tables in PROD and need to much time. Such checks should be improved / moved after START-OF-SELECTION.
