I've tried posting this question on the MSDN forums and gotten no response.
I've downloaded and installed VS 2008 Beta 2.   The versions on the Crystal Reports files included are 10.5.0.1806
I'm currently using VS 2005, with the included Crystal Reports. The versions on those files are 10.2.0.xxxx. I've created an desktop app (in VB) which stores it's data in a database and uses the CR 10 runtime merge modules to generate a report.
I was considering upgrading the Crystal Reports version to XI. I would like to allow customers to modify my delivered report with their own licensed copy of CR XI. I am not providing any functionality within my app to create or modify the delivered .rpt or use it outside my application.
Questions:
Do I need to update the runtime files to CR XI to support rpt files modified with CR XI? Current runtime files are being delivered with the CR 10 merge module.
I see a Crystal Reports for Visual Studio upgrade to CR XI.
Can I update the merge modules to CR XI and still use the CR for VS2005 for development?
Does it make any sense to update CR for VS 2005? Or to get the full CR XI Developer edition? My usage of CR functionality is very limited.
Would there be any benefit to waiting for the release of VS 2008?   How does that change the scenario?
How does Crystal Reports for Visual Studio fit in with the Crystal Reports Lifecycle? It's not mentioned on Business Objects End of Life Dates page . Crystal 10 has a Patch EOL of 31-Dec-07.   Does this apply to CR for VS 2005? Where does 10.5 fit in?
My main concern is allowing customers with CR XI to change the format of my delivered .rpt to run with my app. Adding their company name, logo, etc.   My testing show a CR XI report still works with my current app. But, going forward, what should I deliver and what do I need to use to continue development?

To use Reports designed in XI, you need to use XI or higher runtime, running them in older versions may work, but you may encounter unforeseen issues doing so.
If you are to use VS2005 for development you need to use XI Release 2 (11.5) runtime.
If you are going to use VS2008 for development you need to use Crystal Reports 2008 with Service Pack 0.
The support end of life for versions of Crystal Reports bundled with Visual Studio are linked to what Microsoft's lifecycle for the product is. Generally if there is a workaround for the issue that is simple enough, there will not be a patch created.
The changes you are expecting the customer to do can be accomplished with our RAS SDK which is available without using enterprise starting with Crystal Reports XIR2 SP2.

Deploying visual studio 2008 project with crystal reports

I have deployed an application using ClickOnce. The application works except that I am getting a "Load Report failed" error. I am able to view reports on my developer machine, but when I deploy it I get the error.
What causes this and how can I fix it?

Cause is that either the report file is not found where the engine expects it to be, or the engine does not have the neccessary permissions to load and / or process the report. A bit more information is needed:
1) What version of CR are you using?
                   9.2.2.634
2) What is the OS you are deploying to?
                   XP
3) Is this a web or a windows app?
                   Windows
4) How are the reports being loaded? (code snippet may be a good idea)

The reports are located in a folder named Reports which is directly under the Application Files folder; both underneath the folder having the application name on the application server. Any help will be appreciated!

I need to add a new report to the application that is done using visual studio and SSRS and SQL Server 2008

I have an application that is done using SSRS on visual studio and it connects to the report server on SQL server 2008 environment.
I've been changing the existing reports using visual studio 2008 and modifying the reports on the report server. How do I add a new report to the application ? I created a new report and deployed it on the report server but it didn't show up in the application.
I can access the application source code on visual studio 2010 and TFS (Team Foundation). Thanks.

I have a question. This application retrieves SSRS reports from the report sever. When I download the reports
from the SQL Server I can open them in visual studio 2008 but they don't open in visual studio 2010. I can access the application files on visual studio 2010 and team foundation server 2010. I was unable to open team foundation server 2008 on visual studio
2008. The issue is that I am unable to add a report with a new name to the application. I use visual studio 2008 to deploy the reports on the report server but it has to be the same name to be able to run the report from the application. I can deploy any report
on the report server but I can't access it from the application unless it has to be the same name as the present reports. If I keep the report the same name then it will replace the old report and the new report will run from the application. But only if it's
the same name. I guess when I add a new report to the application with a new name I am supposed to add a definition in the application C sharp files on visual studio 2010 so that the new report will show in the application. What's your opinion
? I have attached 2 images of the application and team foundation server 2010 and the report server.

Crystal Reports using Visual Studio

I am becoming more comfortable with working with Crystal Reports using Visual Studio. I ran into some issues, but I was able to figure them out. I have ran into one which I am not able to figure out. I would like for you to ask Business Objects if they can assist me on this one. When the reports are displayed, a group tree is displayed to the left of the report making it possible for users to navigate through the reports. As you continue to click down through a branch, eventually you are not able to see what to click on or to click on the next link. What could be done to fix this issue?

Have you checked the crystal report in designer mode? If not, try doing it.
Further, you can provide following:
1)Windows or Web Application?
2) Version of Crystal Reports?
3) Version of Visual Studio?
4) OS (32 bit or 64 bit)?

How open a report with Viewer 2008 without using Visual Studio and Java

Hi,
There is a way to open a report (with parameters) save in a web server with Crystal Report Viewer 2008 without using Visual Studio or Java ?
I've an asp page and i want to open this report using some command (I know asp, vbscript and html)
In the past it was very easy because we use CR 9, but now it's already many days im looking for a solution but seem impossible.
I know the craxdrt.dll is not included with Crystal Reports 2008.
It seem me i can use OpenDocument, but i'm not sure. Someone has some easy example to help me ?
Remember i have only Crystal report viewer 2008 on the server and on the clients.

If you are looking to create a web application or view report through a web server using only Crystal Reports then you do have to either use Java, or .NET.
If you have Crystal Reports server or Business Objects Enterprise you can use OpenDocument to view managed reports but this does require one of our server products.

Question about creating association between Sharepoint BDC entities using Visual Studio 2010

I am following this tutorial:

I am getting the following error:
There is an error in the TypeDescriptors of Parameters on Method with Name 'CustomerToOrder' on Entity (External Content Type) with Name 'Customer' in Namespace 'BdcAssociationSample.BdcModel1'. The TypeDescriptors incompletely define where the Foreign
Identifiers of Entity 'Order' in Namespace 'BdcAssociationSample.BdcModel1' are to be read. That Entity expects exactly '1' Identifiers, but only '0' TypeDescriptors with the correct Association were found from which to read them.

According to your post, my understanding is that you got the symbols not loaded error.
First try rebuilding your project by right mouse click the project > Rebuild If that doesn't work, try a clean of the project (right mouse click on the project > clean)
If that didn't work check this:
Right mouse click your project
select [Properties]
select the [Build] tab
make sure [Define DEBUG constant] and [Define TRACE constant] are checked
Click the [Advanced] button at the bottom of the Build tabpage
Make sure that [Debug Info:] is set to [full]
Click [OK] and rebuild the project ;
Hope that works for you! (step 6 generates the .pdb files, these are the debugging symbols)
What’s more, you can clean & re-compile the code, then install the respective dlls one more time to GAC (just remove them before adding to GAC again), do an IISReset to check whether it works.

Adding Columns to the matrix in SAP B1 user form using Visual studio 2010

Hi,
Using Visual studio 2010, I have created a SAP B1 user form( b1f ) with one matrix.Matrix is having 5 columns. Its working properly. Later, I want to add few more columns. Then I added columns to the matrix as I have created columns initially. But, it does not saves.
i.e, Whenever I run, In B1 I could see only old columns. Newly created columns are not showing.So, I closed the .net project and opened again. Created columns are not showing in visual studio b1f itself. So, I created again and saved. But, its not saving.I tried it many times.
What I am missing?

Are you using B1 Studio? Anyway try to clean the solution first then rebuild it. This would re-copy files to the output directory, that contain your changes.

How to get string value from database table using Visual Studio 2005?

How to create a three state approval workflow in SharePoint 2013 using visual studio 2013

i have a requirement like 3 state to approve. Here is the details:- when the item added into the list it will go for reviewer. Once the reviewer review the item, he will assign the task to concern person/department(Parallel process more than two persons).
Once they will approve the request again it will come back to reviewer and he will assign the task to team member(parallel process). Once the team member accepted then workflow terminate.
i want develop this workflow using visual studio 2013 only, not using designer..

It depeneds on the requirement. Well, but from performance point of view as u know that stored procedures are already compiled on DB side, they would be more efficient. Views are handled differently. Here CR has nothing to do with it.
But if the stored procedure u r using is having 2 Select statements, CR will only display the results from the first select statement. In that case you need to use Views as one can use more than one views in the report and join them.
Using a Generic view which is created by the DBA for a larger audience will result in performance issues meaning if a View "V" has 25 fields and View is based on 5 tables and ur report is using only 5 fields which are coming only from 2 tables inside the view,in this case u will end up in joining 3 more tables unnecessarily.

Hello,
you can start with SharePoint 2013 project and then add the Project server dlls. Then add the tabs to get the project server workflow history and tast list.
