Using xml to load parameters in a dyn page

can anyone tell me how to get the parameters from an xml file to a dynpage? where to place the xml file in the portal application project structure?

I see 2 possibilities here:
1. put your XML in the "dist" Folder in your PROJECT and access it via URL:
/irj/portalapps/<PROJECT>/XML. You can then use java.net.URL to read the content
2. put your XML in one of your src folders and access it via getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream().
If you need to change parameters during runtime, you could also consider putting the config in the KM and access it via IResource.

Using xml to load urls

I am a designer working on a flash project that is used to navigate to html pages. The project is a map - when you roll over different states there is an animation making that state pop out and show the state name. When you click each state (Button), it should open an html webpage. Right now the project works great, but I have the url's coded in flash actionscript using "onpress" and "load url." I would like to set it up so the flash file calls the URL for each button from an xml file, so it can be easily edited. The only thing it needs to call is the URL for each button. Can anyone give me simple instructions on how to make that happen?

you'll need to change all the code attached to those buttons so each button has an instance name and you use that name to code for your mouse handler.
and, if you're going to make those changes, you may as well use movieclip buttons and set this up so the next step is easier to accomplish.

Debugging mode stopped automatically when using xml file load

Dear Sir,
I am trying to develop a new add-on using xml files for creating new forms. In fact I was using the sample code delivered with the SDK ( WorkingWithXml - under VB.NET). The Problem is that when I am in the debuging mode and after the form load. the application goes out of the debugging mode and stop action.
In fact what i was trying to do first is to create a new menu and then when i click on this menu a new form appear but once the menu is loaded the application stop the debugging mode automatically.
Can somebody clarify to me what I am doing wrong and why the debugging mode is stopped automatically, noting that i am still in the add-on developpement phase.
As i mentioned above i used the WorkingWithXml sample code (VB.NET) and i have adjusted in a way to load menu and then on the menu click i load my form.

Hi Mary,
Put your code between in a Try Catch block. In the Catch part use the following:
oApplication.MessageBox("CompError: " & oCompany.GetLastErrorCode.ToString & ", " & oCompany.GetLastErrorDescription & vbCrLf & "Message: " & ex.Message)
This should give you a clearer idea of what the error is all about.
The most likely reason is that there is something wrong with your XML file.

Pass parameters from JSP Dyn Page to WDJ Application

I am trying to pass parameters from my JSPDyn Page to WDJ Application.
I am using NWDS 7.1 EHP1
My code is :
function to_WEBDYNHK()
      EPCM.relaxDocumentDomain();
      EPCM.doNavigate
    ('ROLES://pcd:portal_content/Himanshu.Himanshu/TestDynUIApp?DynamicParameter="hkparam%3Dqwertyuio"');
This method is being called on click of a button.
hkparam is the parameter in question.
The JSPDyn page is an iView and the WDJ application is a page and both have been assigned to a role.
In the properties of the WDJ Page, I have removed DymanicParameter from "Do not Forward These Parameters To Web Dynpro" property.
However I am getting null as the value of hkparam in my WDJ application.
The code used is :
IWDRequest request = WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter().getRequestObject();
       String param1= request.getParameter("hkparam");
What seems to be missing here.
Please help.

Try this code.
EPCM.doNavigate("ROLES:portal_content/Himanshu.Himanshu/TestDynUIApp?hkparam=Dmypass1123")
if the parameter is hkparam and the value to be passed is Dmypass1123. You need not change any design time property of the WD page, and WDProtocolAdapter should retrive the parameter.

Can an xml node load an external htm file?

I wanted to know if i could have an xml node load in an
external html page
src="filefolder/@nodename" works with an image tag, but how
would I accomplish this with a <div> and an html file

Please note that any CSS and JS code within the loaded
content will not execute correctly if you won't add the code in the
current file instead of the loaded file. Also please make sure that
the paths in the loaded HTML fragment are relative to the current
file and not to the HTML Fragment.

Button actions using xml

Hello,
I have limited experience using xml to load flvs into a video
component, now I need to know how to use xml to assign actions to
buttons within my Flash file. That way their functionality can be
edited on the fly without having to open Flash. Each button will
have a "getURL" command assigned to it. The basic format of my
project is an html site with a Flash banner at the top that
contains buttons for each page. Here's the site I'm working on:

I'm not sure how to write a Web Service, however data can be read from a flat file using XML Data > Load, however the flat file has to be formatted with appropriate XML tags, such as...

In addition, you have to write a scriptlet that resides on a web server, with which Xcelsius can communicate. Once your data is formatted, it is as simple as referencing the file location in the XML Data URL: field.
Web Service is a very popular solution, and probably better than XML Data in this case due to the large volume of data. If you do a forum search for "Web Service" you'll find many threads regarding its usage.

Using XML as a database ?

could someone provide some resources about using XML as a database?
I would like to create some solutions that temporarily uses XML as a database until the real solution is implemented where there would be some connector technology feeding xml into my system ?
Has anyone here ever had experience using XML as a database ?

there are pages and pages of controversial blah-blah about what is the best storage... i would say: if you manipulate documents, use an XML DB, if you manipulate data (values, dates) better to use a RDBMS...

Using sqlldr to load XML files and the file name ? or access the file name

I can use sqlldr to load the XML files when I declare the target table of XMLTYPE, but I need to load the filename and a sequence also with the XML in a table so we can mark wether the file passed validation or not.
something like ....

Dynamically load content by date using xml

i would like to load content by date using xml. meaning if i
have 5 upcoming social events listed, i want them to dynamically
drop off from my webpage as the event date passes. i would like to
use the built in spry xml dataset functionality, but don't have to.
i can't seem to find a way to get the server date and then compare
it to a date in a xml node. this seems simple, but i can't seem to
find a tutorial that does not get crazy with all kinds of
code.

Have the column headings (which the user clicks to sort by
that column) as
links back to the main page, with the sort as a url parameter
eg
www.mysite.com/mypage.php?sort=name
www.mysite.com/mypage.php?sort=date
etc
Then in your recordset, change the code from
$sql = "SELECT * FROM table ";
to
switch($_GET['sort']){
case "date":
$sql = "SELECT * FROM table ORDER BY date DESC";
break;
case "name":
$sql = "SELECT * FROM table ORDER BY name DESC";
break;
You`ll need to change the above to suit your needs obviously,
but the above
shows the principles that you need to use.
So you use the same page for each sort, but the SQL to
retrieve the records
in the order you want changes dynamically.

Using dbms_xmldom to load large xml

Hi,
I am using dbms_xmldom to load the xml of size 600 MB. Its taking around 7 hours to load the xml.
Please provide the tips or tricks to tune the dbms_xmldom code. Quick help will be appreciated. Thanks !!

Error using XML Loader: XML not well-formed

I am facing a problem using the XML loader in xMII 12.0 when trying to load the following XML file:

I also tried a most basic XML file which shows the same error:

To my understanding both files are well-formed, however xMII shows the error:
"The markup in the document following the root element must be well-formed."
Do I break any rules concerning the markup? IE loads the files without showing any errors.

again you gave the key to the solution. When the error occured, I have set up the following path within the xMII workbench:
"Catalog-Tab"
<server>
  > Sandbox
        > XML
            myFile.xml
When I tried to load the mxFile.xml with the XML Loader, I got the error described above (XML not well-formed). I also cannot drag the file into a transaction in the workbench. I have manually configured the XML Loader with "http://<server:port>/XMII/CM/Sandbox/XML/mxFile".
Now using your hint I have changed to the "Web-Tab":
"Web-Tab"
<server>
    > Sandbox
        > WEB
            > XML
                myFile.xml
Then all works fine, when I now drag the file into the transaction. As you described, an XML Loader action is created with configuration "db://Sandbox/WEB/XML/myFile.xml" and the XML is loaded correctly.
