Error 2 when attempting to connect to my 802.1x protected wifi network

Environment: We have 2 different wifi networks at work, one of which is WPA2 and the other is 802.1x protected. The WPA2 network is limited to domain authentication and basic web/mail traffic. The 802.1x network allows access to all resources of the domain, as provided by the access granted to my domain account. I have a Macbook Air 5,2 running Mac OS X 10.8.1 bound to a Windows 2008 active directory. I have a local administrative user account as well as a network account that has administrative access. The certificate for 802.1x is not signed by a trusted authority. This was explained to me as "it's fine, we made it" by our network admin. I am able to select the check box to always trust this certificate. This issue does not present itself with our other Macintosh systems or iOS devices. This is the first system we have that is running OS X Moutain Lion.
Problem: I can connect just fine to our WPA2 wifi network, but I'm having trouble connecting to the 802.1x wifi network.
Background: If I have my preferred wireless networks only configured with the 802.1x network, and I attempt to log in with my domain credentials I am told that network accounts are unavailable. If I log in with a local administrative account I am prompted for my domain credentials and am allowed to connect to the 802.1x network without issue. Once I'm connected to the 802.1x network, all resources are available as expected.
If I have my preferred networks configured with the WPA2 network I'm allowed to log in with my domain credentials. If I then attempt to change networks and connect to the 802.1x network, it asks me to continue with trusting the certificate from our domain controller, then I'm asked for my admin credentials in order to update the settings in my certificate trusts. I input my credentials, click update settings and am met with a long delay, sluggish performance (I'm not able to access any other app, not even finder), and am eventually I click cancel and am then met with an error stating there was a problem connecting to the network, the server has stopped responding. When I dismiss all dialogs, I notice the wifi network is joined to the 802.1x network after about 15 seconds without further input from me.
Once I'm connected to the 802.1x network, all resources are available as expected.
Goal: To have our Macbook Air connect to the 802.1x protected network by default so network users can log into this system and have full access to domain resources.
Below is a snippet of the console during the attempt to gonnect to the 802.1x network:

Updating to OS X 10.8.2 has not resolved this issue. At this time it I am no longer able to connect to the 802.1x network at all now.

    Hi,
Try installing Windows 2012 Live Essentials here.
You will have to set up your Pop 3 or IMAP email account after installing the updated version per above.
Are you using an Internet Service Provider Email  account or a cloud based (IMAP) Email account?
Pop 3 accounts will require incoming and outgoing server addresses and any additional security settings required by your ISP. If you don't have the required settings for Pop 3 you will have to contact your ISP for those.

Thanks for the swift reply, I have been looking online and a loose plug seems to be somewhat of an issue with many, I hope mine is actually a problem and not what others are experiencing. • Eaopclient crashes when attempting to connect to a 802.1x  PEAP

    Hello,
I am having a problem connecting my macbook to my school's 802.1x PEAP authenticated network.
The issue appeared after I updated my computer about 2 months ago. (today being 01/22/2008).
    Any help would be appreciated.

Funny thing, i solved my own problem.
not sure what it was that i did, but, I will repeat the steps i took that
appear to have lead to the solution:
first, I deleted the root certificate and the stored login credentials via the
    keychain access program.
be careful not to delete your entire keyring!
Then, I booted in to single user mode, via refit ( non refit people
can use do cmd-v (that's the clover, or apple key).
I then fsck'd the computer with the command
    /sbin/fsck -fy
the f means force, and the y means assume yes when asking for permission to do things.
then, I did something really strange, which probably didn't cause my configuration to work, but for completeness, I shall tell it anyways.
I remounted root read-write via mount -w / and continued the booting process with a sh /etc/rc. what that does is call the script that is normally called when OS X is booting. or at least thats how it works in BSD. Sh, if you don't know, is THE shell that preceeded bash, the bourne again sh. On OS X, it's just a symlink to bash. But, I digress.
When I found that it just brought me to a blue start up screen with a mouse, I shut down the system via the power button and rebooted normally.
And, for some unknown reason, this restored the normal functionally of eapolclient.
As I'm sure the person with a decent knowledge of Unix systems may come to the conclusion that maybe all I needed to do was fsck my system. Which I will remember next time before I spend 4 hours on a OS X problem. (or any OS for that matter).

  • Error when attempting to connect

hello there. whenever i try to connect to our new airport extreme 802.11n i get a strange error that consists of an 8 digit number that's different every time, and "PIN for "`¬Ä†å""
it fails to connect but keeps trying and completely freezes the airport menu for about ten minutes until it finally announces that it's completely failed with, "Please contact the network administrator about access to "`¬Ä†å". `¬Ä†å isn't the name of the network.
the light on the airport is blue and it works for someone else using it, he's using a Macbook Pro (not a core duo so no N support). the administrator isn't home at the moment but i'm getting pretty frustrated with being unable to print and scan using my printer. any ideas regarding something i could do on my end?

OK, I see what happened. I had the 10.2 client installed with the connections configured via the tnsnames file. When I then installed the DB (with it's own tnsnames file), SQLDeveloper starting pointing to that instance of the file, with none of my tns connection entries. So, I copied the tnsnames file from the client directory to the database directory, re-created my connections, and everything was fine.

  • Network-related or Instance-specfic error when attempting remote connection from SSMS

    Hello,
I have installed SQL Server express on a Win7 desktop and want to connect to it via SSMS on a laptop. I have set up a SQL login on the desktop so I can login, but when I try to connect to the instance from the laptop via SSMS I get the error 26 with saying

I am trying to connect to a named instance on the SQL Server on the win desktop. Remote connections are enabled and TCP 1433 and UPD 1434 ports are open in Windows Firewall. Antything else I should watch for?
    Thanks

    Hi MrDAndersen,
According to your description, you come across the errors of pre-login handshake and wait operation timing out. Please help to post the full error log for further analysis.
Based on my research, this issue could occur when .NET Framework 4.5 and non-IFS BSP/LSP are installed on the machine, and non-IFS BSP/LSP interferes with the call to Winsock.
To work around the issue, you could use one of the two methods below.
    1. Determine whether a non-IFS BSP or LSP is installed. You could use the "netsh WinSock Show Catalog" command and examine every Winsock Catalog Provider Entry item that is returned. If the 0x20000 bit is clear (not set), it is a non-IFS BSP or
LSP and remove the installed non-IFS Winsock LSPs. For more information about the process, please refer to the article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2568167
    2. Download and apply .NET Framework 4.5.2:

    Hello,
I launched coherence with -Dtangosol.coherence.localhost=<infiniband address> on two machines. I get a message saying that one machine connected to the other, but no partitions are transfered. Instead I get a run time exception on my main thread. The code works fine, I tried with the ethernet address and the code ran.
I also tried the multicast test on these two machines through their respective infiniband interfaces and I got messages being transfered.
Any thoughts on something I might have missed?

    Hi Armando,
Can you please post the Coherence as well as multicast test logs from both nodes as an attachment to this thread.

    Hi Jaigi,
According to your description, you want to change a report server database for Reporting Services. But it fails on the last step and returns a error. Right?
In this scenario, it seems you are creating a report server database on another server via remote connection. Based on the error message, it has issues on executing the script for generating new database. Please check if you have permission to connect the
server and create a new database. Also please check if the Reporting Services Windows services is working properly.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

I've searched on teh internet and everything seems to relate to the Mac OS.

After reading this discussion thread, I've seemed to have solved the problem for myself. I'm using the Trend Micro PC-Cillin Firewall. I disabled it and the airtunes worked. So, I went into the firewall settings. There's the ability to edit the profile and add to an exceptions list. You select the executable program, select incoming or outgoing, I accepted the other default settings and it worked.

  • Get 'Generic Error' when attempting to import .mov files with transparency?

I get the 'Generic Error' when attempting to import .mov files with transparency? I'm trying to use mattes with an alpha channel but I cannot import them. I have had this same issue since cs6, now I have it with cc 2014? Any clues would be most appreciated.
I have uninstalled the DVCPro Codec, but it didn't help.
I have tried converting the .mov file (which is now automatic in Yosemite) and this creates a ProRes4444 Codec, Again no luck with import.
I've seen this issue on the web, but never a solution? Anyone?

    Hi Terence,
I tried iPhoto Library Manager but it could not solve my problem. Opening the iPhoto library I can see that the reference to the pictures are pointing to my old location not to the new one. I considered running a script that would change all pointers since this is basically what is needed (in my case from /Volumes/RAID1/Fotos/XXX to /Volumes/Fotos/XXX). Instead I inserted a soft unix link to make to connection but that did not work. It is referring to the airport disk by the airport name rather than the mounted disk name. Very strange indeed. The problem is maybe not in iPhoto but in OSX? Anyway, maybe the only way out is to take some hours and manually run through all linked photos... cumbersome and annoying!

  • Keep getting sync service error when trying to connect my iphone 5S.

Keep getting sync service error when trying to connect my iphone 5S. It freezes itunes and I can't do anything else. I see that there is an update for my phone and I need to back up, upload new apps, etc before installing. I plug my phone in and get this error every time. I am using a Win 7 SP1

    Howdy Susie48825,
It sounds like you are getting an error that mentions the sync services when you connect your phone to your computer and so you cannot sync your device. I would use the troubleshooting from the following article that  mentions an error regardign the sync services named:
iTunes for Windows: "Unable to load data class" or "Unable to load provider data" sync services alert
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2690
    Start with these steps:
    1. Check that iTunes is up-to-date
Ensure that you have updated to the latest version of iTunes.
    2. Reset Sync History
Resetting your Sync History is a simple step which may resolve some syncing issues. If this works, iTunes will prompt to Merge or Replace the information on your device when you next attempt to sync. To reset your Sync History:
    Disconnect your device.
    Open iTunes.
From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
    Click the Devices tab.
Click the Reset Sync History button, and then reconnect your device.
If this resolves the issue, and you know all of your contacts, calendars, bookmarks and notes are on your computer:
Reset the Sync History again using the steps above.
Select the device in iTunes and click the Info tab.
Scroll down to the Advanced section, and under "Replace information on this iPhone/iPad/iPod touch" select Contacts or Calendars.
    Click Apply.
If the issue persists, and you know all your contacts, calendars, bookmarks and notes are on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:
Remove all of the contact and calendar information from Outlook.
Select the device in iTunes and click the Info tab.
Scroll down to the Advanced section, and under "Replace information on this iPhone/iPad/iPod touch" make sure Contacts and Calendars are not selected.
    Click Apply.
There are additional steps to use in the article if needed, but these will get you started.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling
